Being a "homemaker" poses a lot of problems. Believe it or not some people, especially women, feel that all I do during the day is sit on my butt. Got news...... not in this lifetime. I do feel a bit guilty that I don't bring in an income. But, if my DH had to pay me for the jobs I do around here, I'd make more than he does. I take care of the cleaning, laundry, ironing, maintenance, yard work, cooking, accounting, childcare, scheduling and car maintenance. Whew, outa breath. I also homeschool our 1o year old. She will be in the 6th grade this year. She actually skipped a grade. Kindergarten in the state we were living in at the time she was to start school, was in my personal opinion, a joke. I taught her how to read when she was almost 4 and she knew all her colors, how to count, the alphabet, shapes and such before she would have gone. So, we decided to homeschool. I think I forgot to mention that my DH was in the Air Force at the time, and we were living in Mississippi. (Nice state, VERY HUMID(and compared to other Southern States, that is saying alot), nice people. They sure do like to party there. Mardis Gras was a totally new experience.)Anyway, now that Dh is out of the Service( 10 very proud years committed to our country), we have moved back to where we both grew up. Hopefully, not for longer than a couple more years. We believe in education in our house as well. Take for example my DH. He has 3 Associate Degrees(2 are Military), he also has a Bachelors Degree and is now working on his Masters Degree. He will then complete his other Masters Degree and he hopes to follow that up with a Doctorate. I call him a "professional student". It took me a long time to want to go back to school. Soon I will start to work on the basics for my degree as well. I promised my Mother that I would go to college, and I will. I am having a hard time deciding on a major. I have too many intersts to pare down. I love History, Anthropology and Literature. I actually want to be a Librarian, but the closest school to carry that degree is too far away ro commute right now. I love books. I love being able to recommend different authors or genres to people. And being a Librarian just seems to fit. So wish us all luck in our academics. I'll start to teach my 3 year old to recognize letters and numbers, shapes and this year. He already has a good recollection of colors and some numbers. So I am hopeful that teaching a boy is not much more difficult than it was to teach a girl. Anyway, sorry to bore you with our household drivel. Goodnight!
