The Park!

In one picture is part of the play area of the park. Son is in the giant atom/web looking thing. *G* In the other picture are my two munchkins at the top of the waterfall, also at the park. When they were first building this park I was upset because they ripped up quite a bit of acerage of trees. Now, I see the benefit to our area. They landscaped it beautifully. And the area kids love it. Behind the park they're building a water park, I'm sure my kids will love that, too. *G* And as hot as it gets here? It should be most popular. 

As for today, well, these pictures didn't take themselves! It was so nice out (68 degrees IN DECEMBER, there is something very, very wrong with that!) that I walked the kids up to the park to play for a bit. Daughter wasn't big on playing today for some reason, but they both climbed all over the waterfall area. 

After that I headed to the Y and had a good time. Chris didn't work out today, he had to work late and by the time he was done, his sinuses were bothering him so badly he felt sick. So, I made dinner tonight while he played with the new toy they gave him at work. *G* They replaced his Blackberry with a Samsung Omni. It's COOL! He's been trying to learn all the new capabilities it has. After dinner I goofed around on the computer a bit myself. *G* Chris found me a new word game on Shockwave. It's called Bookworm. *G* I think my favorite word to make so far on it has been piffle. Now why it won't take Rome or Mexico is beyond me! 

As for reading, I finished Loyalty in Death by J.D. Robb and have moved on to Witness in Death. I'm sure as soon as I'm finished with these, or grow tired of them I'll start on Greywalker. And I'm still haunting the library database for Running Hot by Jayne Ann Krentz. They used to be pretty good at getting books like that out on it's release date, but lately they've been slow at releasing them to the public. And I checked the other library system that I can check books out of in the other county and they only have lease copies. Which begs the question. Why do libraries lease books? I though the whole idea behind libraries to begin with, were to offer free "borrowing" of books? Eh. Don't mind me, just being curious again. *g*

An Oldie and Sleepy!

I really do wish I could nap. Cats have it made in that they can sleep anytime and just about anywhere. Heck, Chris can do that! *g* Me? I have to have my bed to sleep without being aware. Can y'all sleep like Layla?

Today was quiet. It was nice! Chris and I decided to give the kids this second week of vacation, like their friends because we were all so busy last week and stressed. We don't feel like they got to enjoy themselves much. Son was delighted. *g* And as soon as he ate lunch this afternoon was out the door to play with his buddies. Daughter was grounded, and will continue to be so until she cleans her room and bathroom. So far, she's gotten her room done, but still needs to work on her bathroom. And please don't tell me that I'm a bad Mom for grounding her for that, or for making her do it to begin with. Please? *g*

This evening we headed out to the library and then the Y. At the library I picked up a Hold that had come in, Greywalker by Kat Richardson and dropped off a few books that I've read over the weekend. Right now I'm reading Loyalty in Death by J.D. Robb. I don't know quite why I'm in the mood to reread all these, but am enjoying them. And I'm not rereading ALL of them, just those that struck my fancy when looking back at the synopsis'. I'm also already haunting the library catalog for the new Jayne Ann Krentz Arcane Society novel, Running Hot.

Hmmm, what else. Son lost another tooth last night making a visit from the Tooth Fairy necessary. Unfortunately this tooth fairy didn't have any dollars or gold dollars left and had to leave 4 quarters. Son didn't seem quite as excited by them as he does the usual leavings. And why such a small detail like that makes me feel like a bad Mommy, I don't know.

Nothing much else to report from here. It was a low-key day for once. I'm so glad last week is over with. I really hadn't realized how stressed I was until it was over. I hope y'all had a stress-free Monday. One filled with smiles and bright moods. I wish a pleasant Tuesay for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Layla is camping out and reading!

This picture was taken the other night when Son wanted to camp out in our room. Layla decided his makeshift bed was cool. Daughter had set down her book beforehand and I though the picture was too sweet not to take. What is it that makes us want to pair cats and books?

Today has been a quiet and rather pleasant day. I slept late on purpose. It was nice. *G* Chris was at work and it wasn't a school day, so it was nice to relax for a bit. I didn't have anywhere to be and took advantage of it. *g* When Son woke up he came and kept me company and we watched the History channel for a bit before deciding to finally get up and get our day started. He kept me company while I ironed Chris' clothes as well. *g* I've been doing nothing more than laundry, laundry and more laundry today. Well, and straightening up, emptying the dishwasher and vacumming, too. I've also been reading and finished Ceremony in Death by J.D. Robb.

But, I wanted to "talk" about something with y'all. I was reading a post on www.thebradfordbunch.com by author Elisabeth Naughton, on belief. Not on your Faith, but what you believe. And I wondered, what do you believe in?

Elisabeth Naughton believes in: "I believe in love. In happily ever after. That good things happen to good people.I believe that right will always win – even if it takes years for wrong to be stamped out.I believe in the power of positive thinking, in karma, in surrounding yourself with positive people that lift you up.I believe that beauty isn’t just skin deep; it seeps all the way into the soul.I believe if you work hard enough, believe enough and never give up, there are no limits but the sky.I believe that dreams really can come true."

And this is what I commented, "I believe in the same things you listed and a few more: that love conquers all, that Good will defeat Bad, that every good thing you do ripples down to another, that a smile CAN brighten someones day, that hope is always needed and that true love exists.

So, what do YOU believe? *G* I do want to add that I believe in always giving my hubby a kiss goodnight, and to always tell your loved ones you love them and don't expect them to know. And that simple words such as Thank You are important.

Chris' big baby!

Look at this cat! Doesn't he look comfy? He's a big baby when it comes to getting attention. Midnight loves his Daddy! *g* 

I'm really tired and have no idea why, so I'm going to make this as brief as I'm capable. *g* Today we were unable to make it to the UBS, timing issues, but did make it to the Pharmacy, Library, Gamestop, Mass, and BAMM (that one so Daughter and I could use the small gift cards we gave each other) and also a different WW than yesterday because they were out of our cat food. Daughter picked up a book, but is right now reading the last book in the Twilight series and I picked up For the Love of Pete by Julia Harper and A Veiled Deception by Annette Blair. I also have a few J.D. Robb books to read that were picked up at the library today that I wanted to reread. I'm set for books for the next couple of days. But, Chris made sure I could look at the books at the WW we visited today because he's lived with me long enough to know that one can never have enough books or look at enough books. *g* That man's a keeper! *g* Anyway, after all that we arrived home, made dinner (Chris made dinner, I did laundry.) and vegged a bit. It's time for bed, thank goodness. I don't like feeling this tired.

Layla stole Daughters box!

Layla loves boxes. Actually, I don't know of many cats that don't! Daughter received a pair of jammies in this box, but has decided she wants to keep it (for now) to save her lightsaber pieces in/together. While Daughter was changing the design of her lightsaber this evening, Layla climed in her box and settled in for a loooooong visit. *G*

Today more than made up for yesterday! We managed to get some good sleep last night and today we headed to three different stores to grocery shop (Aldi's, Sam's and WW), had Son's hair cut and visited Barnes & Noble so I could look around since SIL gave me a small gift card for Christmas. I picked up two books, Ceremony in Death by J.D. Robb (I read most of her books through the library and have started rereading them and wanted my own copy) and Dragon Actually by G.A. Aiken (a new-to-me author). I also used the last of my card and bought Chris a frappucino. *G* We didn't have time to make it to the UBS today, but have plans to go tomorrow.

The kids were given their gift from my Father today, a check he had sent them that I put up until after Christmas so they wouldn't buy something that may have already been bought for them beforehand. Daughter bought a notebook at B&N and a few snacks. Son bought an Erector Set and a matchbox car. *G* Both still have money left and are begging for a visit to Gamestop tomorrow before Church. *g*

We didn't make it to the Extended Family Dinner, we had had a late start to the day thanks to Daughter (that child would sleep forever if you let her!) and to be honest we just didn't want to go. We'd pretty much maxed out our family togetherness with the Out-laws for the past two days and just wanted to get our errands for the day done and go home. So we did. (We did call and tell them we wouldn't be attending, though.) It's been nice this evening, after we arrived home we had a quick meal of "Raiding the Fridge", which is actually trying to get rid of the mammoth leftovers we had from our own cooking and what MIL sent us home with the other evening. It had the added benefit of not having to actually, you know, cook. *G* And right now Chris is putting together Son's new Erector set! *G*

Tomorrow is another day of errands: the library, the UBS, the Pharmacy, Gamestop and Church. So, I'm heading off to bed to get some rest in preperation. *g*

Butterscotch hogging my chair again!

Butterscotch loves my chair. Every day when I come downstairs, more likely than not, he's there. Sitting comfortably, looking as though I've disturbed him and he's wondering why. *G* Silly kitty, that's MY chair! *G*

Whew! I was so tired last night. I wanted nothing more than to go to bed when we arrived home last night, but knew Mrs. Clause had an appearance to make. *G* As for yesterday (Christmas Eve) we arrived at the Out-laws home and ate a small meal and then opened presents. It was hard to get Son to eat he was so excited! *g* We had all decided to go low-key this year for the adults and concentrate on the kids, so the kids had a blast and both are now the proud owners of Nerf guns, among other assorted toys. And they're actually pretty fun, especially the darts with the suction cups. *G* While at the Out-laws we were informed there was an extended family get-together Friday, the first we'd heard of it, but will most probably attend. After the Out-laws we all (SIL, BIL, MIL, FIL and us) went to a Christmas party held by friends of the SIL and BIL. It was fun and Santa Claus was even there! *G* The kids had fun and Chris and I enjoyed ourselves as well. The Friends are gracious and friendly hosts and made everyone who came feel welcome. And their home! Good golly, I don't believe I've ever seen more antiques in any one place other than an antique store! It was lovely and decked out with Holiday style. *G* There was also a buffet and although I thought I couldn't have eaten another bite, I did treat myself to a chocolate covered Marshmallow (a marshmallow dipped in the fondue pot, YUM!) *g* 

After all that we went home and by that time I was longing for bed. Unfortunately Son was hyped up. He was ready for Santa! LOL! I can see him next year. He's going to be the type of child of sets booby traps to catch Santa in the act. *g* Finally, FINALLY he fell asleep (Daughter had been asleep for over an hour at that point) and Chris and I could put out the few things that Santa brought, and the skateboard I could not for the life of me figure out how to wrap! *G* Santa even left a note, thanking the kids for the refreshments they left him. 

This morning Son shot out of bed like a cannon and was up and dressed before Chris could clear his throat or I could put in my contacts! Both enjoyed their gifts and then stayed outside either playing with their gifts or their friends gifts or vice versa. They didn't come in until dark today. Even though the Out-laws stopped by for a bit, the kids were eager to see their friends, something I had warned the Out-laws about to begin with when they asked if we were coming over today. And Chris and I? Pretty much rested (Lack of sleep made us a tad lethargic today.) he cooked dinner and I read a book and tried to keep the house in some semblance of order, with laundry and keeping the kids new clutter to a minimum high priorities for the day.

Tomorrow will be filled with some grocery shopping and other errands, Son needs a hair cut again and I would like to visit the UBS, but have to call first to see if they'll be open. And then there's the extended family dinner. I made macaroons and am trying to be good and stay out of them, so that I'll have them to take tomorrow. *G*

I hope that y'all had an enjoyable and loving Christmas Day. I hope that time spent among those you like/love went well and that you are now relaxed and happy. I wish a pleasant and restful Friday. Goodnight, B.

Photo out-takes of the silly Santa Hat!

I know I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't shown y'all many of them because they didn't come out too well this year. Doesn't Midnight look thrilled? *G* I'm sure that night he went off trying to plot revenge. Luckily he's silly enough to have forgotten! *G*

Yet another semi-boring day here. All those chores that Chris was supposed to take care of this week while he's off? Yeah, not getting done. However, I'm not surprised. This is the same man that just did his Christmas shopping TONIGHT while I was at TurboKick. He even took the kids with him. I made him promise not to lose them while he was gone and I was only partly kidding!

Besides laundry and cooking there wasn't much going on here today. I do now have Blood Sins by Kay Hooper from the library. *g* I can't wait to read it, but will actually have to! I just started the Susan Elizabeth Phillips book, Match Me If You Can and I don't like to read two fiction books at one time. Do y'all? Read more than one book at a time? Maybe I'm odd that way. Daughter on the other hand has no issue with it at all. She was rereading the Eragon books but since we picked up Twilight by Stephanie Meyer for her last night she dived right in and finished it this morning. AND she borrowed New Moon the next book in that series from her friend and started it this afternoon AND FINISHED IT this evening. Is it weird that I am so proud of her for loving to read as much as she does? *g*

MIL called last night, to make sure we'd be there tomorrow. And if we wanted to go to a Christmas party with them to a friend of the Out-laws and SIL&BIL. We've been once before and the kids had a blast so we'll probably do it. I do know I won't be comfortable there, but there will be a Santa there and know Son would love it. I THINK Daughter know's who Santa is, but she's tricky, you know? How old were y'all when you 'knew'? Did you figure it out on your own, or did a friend tell you? I honestly can't remember myself.

I'm hoping that the cards I sent out arrived where they were supposed to by now. If I didn't get an address from you I would still like to send an e-card, but only if it isn't a bother. I also hope that y'all know how much y'all mean to me. I thank God for each of y'all. You bring me laughter, sometimes tears, friendship and SANITY. *G* You keep me from being a hermit and (hopefully) keep me from being a social dork. *g* I wish y'all nothing but the absolute Best in the year to come! (Sappy stuff over with, for now. *G*)

Exercise: 25 minutes of weight machines, 35 minutes of TurboKick (More kickboxing than TurboKick.) that was fun! (And I am such an uncoordinated klutz! But, I laughed at myself and kept going.)

Five kitties all in a huddle!

Here we have from L-R Athena, Midnight, Oreo, Butterscotch and Patches. It's actually kinda rare for the kitties to be in such close proximity to each other. The only ones missing were Layla and Fireball. And the reason for the kitty pile? There were treats of meat being handed out. *G*

I wish I could say today was exciting, but it wasn't. Well, at one point we had a small crisis this evening, but otherwise a pretty low-key day here. The kids played outside for a bit this afternoon, but it was pretty chilly (our high today was 37 degrees) and they kept coming in for small breaks. Everything was going well until this evening. The kids, Chris and I were just walking into the library when Son somehow fell and hit his mouth causing one of his teeth to split his cheek. There was a lot of blood and he got sick from crying so much. Poor baby. The plan was a trip to the library and then they would drop me off at Yoga and then head to the Eye Doc to pick up Daughters glasses and the go to Target for the kids request of ginger crisps for their Christmas Eve ritual of watching The Polar Express and eating their crisps. It didn't go that way. Son was so upset that he didn't want me to go to Yoga, I became his human security blanket. And being a Mother, I didn't mind. Sure I dislike missing class, but Son comes first. The bleeding stopped and Son decided he wanted to go ahead with their plans, but with me. So, we did. We ended up picking up Daughters glasses (I swear she has better than 20/20 now!) and then heading to Target. We bought the kids slushies (the ice cold liquid was good for Son's mouth.) and picked up their ginger crisps. After a quick trip by Lowes for air filters and another quick stop by WW where Daughter picked up a copy of Twilight by Stephanie Meyer we headed home. We've kept a sharp eye on Son and he's fine and even eating. The slushie helped a lot and he's just sore now. And tomorrow maybe I'll get to go work-out! *g*

Oh, as for MY reading? I picked a keeper off my shelves, Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts. (The 1995 edition.) Part of it takes place during the Holidays and for some reason I just wanted to revisit the hero (Jed) and heroine (Dora) again. Don't you love it when you do that? *G* I didn't pick up a book at the Y, but did pick up Bedknobs and Broomsticks for the kids. I thought they'd get a kick out of it. Did y'all ever see it?

Let's play a game called find the cat. *G* I've made it pretty easy for y'all. Oreo is behind the tree pretending I can't see her. What is it with cats where they think that if they can't see you (by closing their eyes) that you can't see them? Oreo is a Master at this game. *g*

Today has been chilly, windy and boring. *g* After heading to the Pharmacy and the grocery store for icing. I made it a bit more boring by doing nothing more than laundry, making turkey chili and baking Chris a cake. Oh, and reading. I'm almost finished with Must Love Dogs by Claire Cook. This book isn't as light-hearted as the other I've read and the character isn't as likable, but the story is engaging and the cast of characters is enjoyable and endearing. The themes of this book revolve around divorce, disillusionment and family.

It truly has been a boring day and the week won't be much better. I've given the kids the week of from Schoolwork so they can play with their friends and Chris has the week off as well. I have a feeling I'm going to be hanging to my sanity by a thread! Send help! *G* Just kidding. I think. *g* 

Time to get off and maybe have time to finish my book. I hope y'all had a nice and peaceful Sunday. I wish a low-key, stress-free Monday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

I wish this were clearer!

I truly wish this picture were clearer. It's of Butterscotch staring at the tree with a look of puzzlement, he even tilted his head to the side at one point. It didn't come out very clear because it was taken with my cell phone. (If I had gotten up to grab my camera I know he would have moved!) But, I had to share this will y'all. *G*

Today was rainy and drizzly and overcast, all of which I don't mind. It seemed to fit my mood. *g* The visit with the Out-laws went well. They didn't visit for any specific reason, which to me means they're done pouting. And if I'm a bit peeved they've invited themselves over here twice next week, well, I'll get over it. *g* The kids, Chris and I made it to the Library before their visit and I now have 3 more books to read. *g* Must Love Dogs by Claire Cook (I think I'm one of the last people to read this book), The Secret of Spring by Piers Anthony and Jo Anne Taeusch (I don't think I've ever read anything by either of these authors, but then again I've been reading Sci-Fi for years and MUST have read something by Piers Anthony.) and The Unlikely Romance of Kate Bjorkman byLouise Plummer (A YA and new-to-me-author). While there we picked up Wall-E for the kids to watch. They'd seen it at the moves this summer, but wanted to watch it again. We also picked up Kit Kitterige (sp) for them as well. Daughter picked up a few books as well. *G* Gee, wonder where she gets it? *G*

After all that it was time for the kids and I to head for Mass and Chris to head to his Work Dinner. I can tell y'all that I detest driving in the rain, by the time we arrived I was already stressed out. The kids and I headed straight home afterwards and I decided since Chris wasn't home to make dinner and slip in a Yoga Practice. Not long after I finished my practice Chris arrived home and had brought me (and him, I shared) a piece of cheesecake (And an award he was given.). *g* YUM! One of these days I am going to learn how to make a cheesecake. *g*

And that was our day and evening. Chris and I are making noises about heading to bed, so it's time to shut down. I hope that y'all had a fun and relaxing day. I wish a restful and peaceful Sunday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Guess who had a bath?

Midnight is a good kitty, but has a small odor problem. Every now and then he just smells..bad. So, yesterday when it happened again, I had Daughter give him a bath. And she did! (I have video that is HILARIOUS!) Poor Midnight, he looked like a drenched rat. The only thing injured was his pride and I can say that he has a set of LUNGS and a LOUD meow. *G* And he isn't holding a grudge, either.

Today has been quiet and slightly warm, but breezy. It's just odd to have 67 degree weather in the middle of December. I wasn't feeling well today (nothing bad, just um, timely problems), so took it easy for another day. I can say I didn't feel as tired as I did yesterday, so that's good. Of course now I feel guilty I didn't exercise and will try hard to fit something in this weekend. It didn't help that guilty feeling when I ate the last of the cookies I made for Son's class party. (All six or seven of them. *sigh*) Bad Brandy!

I did read some more today and finished Summer Blowout by Claire Cook. I enjoyed the book and posted a small review to my other site. And just got through requesting another of her books from the library. I hope they get in some of my holds soon. I'm down to one book (Match Me If You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips) and can't buy anything until after Christmas. Cross your fingers!

After the kids schoolwork I threw, um, let them go outside this afternoon. It was so nice outside they didn't even look back on their way out the door. *G* While they were outside I took advantage of the quiet and read the above book and also wrapped all of Santa's gifts for the kids. I am now DONE with wrapping, thank goodness. And while they weren't looking I also switched all the stocking stuffer things from our closet upstairs to the closet downstairs so there will be no rustling to awaken little ears Christmas Eve. Oh, and laundry was done, too. *G*

Tomorrow is the Out-laws oddly timed visit and Chris' work dinner, he'll be attending that while the kids and I head to Mass. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. How are y'all doing with all the Holiday Hoopla?

Butterscotch does it again!

This cat is just plain odd. I came down the other day to start everything (Son's breakfast, gathering schoolwork, etc.) and found Butterscotch on the edge of my chair. He was just there. As though a breath would knock him over the side and he was ASLEEP! *g* I keep telling y'all he's sweet as can be, just off his rocker.

Today has been slow. After the kids schoolwork I decided to mop the floors. And my feet didn't freeze today because for some odd reason it reached 71 degrees here today! Mother Nature must be having a hot flash! *g* I also did laundry and emptied the dishwasher. Sounds exciting, right? Not. But, it's life. I've been so tired today (And still not feeling as though I'm getting enough sleep.) that I even took the evening off of working out, although I feel guilty. I'm hoping the day of semi-rest will help. I did read The Man Must Marry by Janet Chapman. The heroine was fabulous (Flighty, yet intelligent, spunky and she had her ghosts to deal with.)! And the hero was a definite Alpha who I thoroughly enjoyed. A matchmaking Patriarch brought them together and a surprise inheritence almost kept them apart. There was even a preview in the back of the book and I'll be waiting for that to come out sometime next year. Today while trying to rest I read Derik's Bane by MaryJanice Davidson. This book was released years ago and was a reread for me. I still enjoy the authors snarky heroines and wit. I just wish I agreed with the direction the Betsy books were taking. *sigh* I've just started Summer Blowout by Claire Cook and I can already tell I like the heroine. Of course I can't "say" much more about it because I'm just in the first chapter. *G* Are y'all reading anything interesting lately?

Did I tell y'all that MIL called the other day? We've firmed up plans to go over there Christmas Eve. It's been um, interesting to say the least. I wouldn't say we "won", to me this is a compromise. But, the weird thing? They're visiting on Saturday. It's been almost 3 weeks since they've visited. (They pouted that long.) And they can't wait another 3 days? Um, not to mention that Saturday is one of our busier days? AND that this Saturday Chris has to go to a company dinner because his company was too cheap?stupid?mean? to hold a Christmas party for the workers and families. (I told Chris I wouldn't have cared if it were pot luck, that it was a matter of spending a bit of time with the people that he works with every day.) Anyway, they're coming over. Wish us luck!

Butterscotch looking down!

I took this picture this morning when I went down to make Son's breakfast. I just happened to look up and there was Butterscotch. *g* I can't tell if he's happy or upset I was in the kitchen.

Today has felt busy, but wasn't. I did not sleep well, again. I have no idea why. I'm hoping whatever is happening stops soon. While I was doing schoolwork with the kids Chris went to the Mall and picked up the last of their stocking stuffers, gold coins from SEE's. After the kids and I were done and Chris had arrived back home (and I did a bit of cleaning) we left early so that I could get by the UBS before the kids classes. I didn't have very long to look but did find one book I recently read an excerpt from and was interested in, The Man Must Marry by Janet Chapman. I guess one book is better than not finding anything. *g*

As for reading, I finished Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr last night. I found it riveting but dark. Even though it's a YA, I would say it's more for the older teen, as there was a bit of violence and reference to sex.

After that we headed to the kids RE Classes. Tonight was their (seperate) Christmas parties. The cookies were a big hit and Son came out very hyper from all the excitement and sugar. After that we came home and made dinner. And have been relaxing ever since.

And even though all that wasn't very much, I am tired. So, I am going to get off-line. I hope that y'all had a simple, yet pleasing day. I wish an energy filled and Happy Thursday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

I kid you not. One of Midnight's many nicknames is 'Old Man'. Another is 'Goober'. And yet another is 'Dum-dum', like from the movie Night At the Museum where the Easter Island Statue say's "Dum-dum me want gum-gum". *G* Here he is hanging out in the hallway. Notice the foot in the air! *g*

My house smells fantastic right now! After finishing up Homeschooling for the day I made shortbread cookies for Son's class, both kids like them, so that's a relief (It was a new recipe.). After that we ran by the library where I picked up a movie that had come in for me, Journey to the Center of the Earth. The new one with Brendan Frasier. *G* A CD I had requested came in as well, the new Nickelback. And while there I picked up a few books, too. I now have Match Me If You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (a new-to-me-author YA) and Summer Blowout by Claire Cook (a new-to-me-author, but I read a review that sounded good). I still have the MJD to read, too. So I am happy to have books to read for the next few days, although I am hoping to talk Chris into a visit to the UBS tomorrow. *G* And after the library we, of course, went to the Y where I worked out without Chris who had to work late again.

And as for why my house smells good right now? I helped Daughter make the batter for Chocolate Chip cookies and she's baking them right now. *g* She wanted to make them for her Christmas party at her class tomorrow, so, I let her! You have NO idea how hard it was to turn over control to her. *g* I love her, but her attention span when she's cooking ANYTHING isn't the best. *g* So far she's done pretty good. I am so proud of her! But, I have a really bad feeling on who's going to have to clean up! *G*

Speaking of which, I'd like to get to bed in the near future and there's a mess in the kitchen to be cleaned. *g* I hope that y'all had a pleasant and smile-filled Tuesday. I wish a happy and worry-free Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Patches is Daughters kitty!

Patches is definitely Daughter's kitty. She adores Daughter, sleeps on her bed, brings her her toy ribbon and loves nothing better than sitting with Daughter. *G* Here she is with Daughter when Daughter was sick a week or so ago. There's nothing like a good book and a sweet kitty to make you feel better!

I feel like I didn't have time to breathe today! I had to get the kids homeschooling done before I could leave today and Son was dragging a bit, he says he feels fine, but his nose is still stopped up. Luckily there is no fever and he's been bouncing around this evening. *G* Y'all will be glad to know that I mailed off Christmas cards today. *G* A whole week before Christmas. Whew! I made it! We also had Daughter's eye exam today. She even consented to have her eyes dilated. (Even I won't do that!) I have to say it freaked me out to see her pupils so large. And I can say we are truly blessed to have Vision insurance that will cover her glasses, well, it will cover the full cost of her lenses and she wants to keep her current frames. So, no cost to us except a co-pay. That's another Whew! *g* After that I had to go to WW, we needed milk and they had cola's on sale so I picked some up. I also picked up a small present for our kitties. Catnip mice! *g* I'm leaving that out in my Jeep until Christmas though. If not they'll tear into them now. *G* I also picked up something small for Chris. And by small, I mean it. (We don't spend much on each other for Christmas, our Anniversary is in January so we split it up.) But, I may be a stinker and put this small thing in a bigger box and wrap it, just to confuse him. *G*
I started (and finished) the mystery last night. It was the second book by this author that I've read and where I liked it, I actually preferred the first book I've read of hers! Although, I can say that I wish I'd had a teacher like the main character in this book. She was nice and a bit feisty as well. *G* Hmm, actually, I wouldn't mind being like that! Anyway, now I have the MJD book to read or I've been thinking alot of my favorite Linnea Sinclair books lately, so may reread one of those instead.
We made it to the Y tonight (It was a close call on whether I'd have time for Yoga today.) and I had a new Yoga teacher. She has been coming to the classes for at least a year now (she also teaches at a regular yoga studio) and is very nice. I liked her teaching style, but wish she spoke up a bit louder. I could barely hear her to know what poses to do. Our Y has built a new Aerobic room and it's finished. I have NO idea what we're waiting on to use it, instead of the current room which has the treadmills, elypeticals and bikes on one end and the class "room" on the other. The machines are so loud and then there are tvs as well. It makes it hard to concentrate sometimes. I also miss going on Wednesdays.
Tomorrow is going to be a bit busy as well. We have our regular homeschool day, plus baking for the kids Christmas parties Wednesday and a visit to the library and the Y. I'm starting to think maybe sleep is a luxury. *g*

Christmas Decorations!

The photo on the left is of our tree this evening. We don't do much, but it has meanigful decorations and white lights. We like it. *G* The photo on the right is of the sofa table. On it are the Advent tree, calender and nutcracker. I also have our Christmas cards on there, too. *G* (Not to mention a kitty, see if you can spot her.)

I also have one more picture to share because I thought it was cute. In the picture in the middle, Son is vacumming up the needles from the tree. He decided he was going to help me and vacumm. I didn't have the heart to tell him he was missing a few things, so waited until today and vacummed the floors again. *G* Isn't he a sweetie?

Son was coughing all morning, so I decided we weren't going anywhere today, either. Poor thing. He had a small fever this afternoon and wasn't allowed outside. He wasn't happy when Daughter and I went out to change a front parking light (had the wrong bulb, wasn't able to chane it today after all) and a brake light on the rear of my jeep. Which was not easy to change! By the time I was done I had lost my helper (Daughter), Son was upset because he didn't get to help, my fingers were freezing (it only made it to 43 degrees today, not counting wind chill) and I decided ratchets are a pain in the fanny and that wrenches are my new favorite tool! *g* But, my brake light now works and Chris picked up the right size bulb for the front parking light on the way home and installed it when he arrived home. Before all that this afternoon I cleaned (and sanitized with bleach, I'm tired of all these cold germs floating around) the bathrooms and ironed Chris' clothes. I also made dinner tonight, a surprise for Chris, who thought we'd do something simple like soup and sandwiches. Nah! I made another family favorite-Chicken Paprika. YUM!

I haven't had a chance to read today, I've been busy taking care of everything (and everyone) else. I hope to be able to read this evening and have chosen The Christmas Cookies Killer by Livia J. Washburn. I thought it would be fun to read considering how much baking I have to do this week, for both the kids Christmas parties for their RE classes. "Speaking" of baking, my neighbor brought over a BUNCH of holiday cookies this afternoon. She's so sweet!

I still have to wash the pots from dinner and a few other night-time chores. I hope y'all had a restful and relaxing Sunday. I wish a productive but low-key Monday for y'all. Sweet Dreams and Hugs, B.

Midnight plays among the branches!

Last night after we brought the tree inside Chris trimmed the bottom branches so it would fit in the stand and Midnight dived right into the branches. He had a blast playing hide-and-seek among them! And every time one of the other cats would come over to look at them, he'd smack at them! Can you find him in there? *G*

Today has been interesting. Son was acting as though he was feeling okay, but was coughing and was a bit warm, so we stayed home today. Which was fine, Chris strung the lights on the tree and then we let the kids decorate it while listening to Christmas music. *G* They had a blast and as usual we didn't even use all our decorations. Which is fine, because we have SO many. We have decorations that were mine as I was growing up, a few from when Chris was growing up, decorations from when we were first married and decorations for the kids and made by the kids! I think we'd need another tree just to hold them all! *G* We also tackled wrapping gifts this evening. And by we, I mean that Daughter wanted to wrap the gifts for the Grandparents and their friends and I let her. Wrapping takes practice and I figured she needed it. *G* And Son played at wrapping a bit, too. I gave him a small box and he wrote a note to his Dad to put in it and then wrapped it. And unwrapped it and then wrapped it again! *G* While they were doing that, I wrapped Chris' gifts while he went to the store to pick up some batteries. *g* Since we had done all that wrapping, I felt like I was on a roll so after dinner I went upstairs and wrapped the kids presents and put them under the tree. They were eager to shake and examine each one. Little do they know that there are still a couple in our closet, from Santa. *G* I may take them back up, this is the first year I've had them down under the tree so early, it's just that the kids wanted to put their friends gifts under there and it looked so nice...... And the reason I may still end up taking them up, I have seven very good reasons! Sleepy, Dopey, Doc...... Kidding. I mean Layla, Patches, Oreo, Midnight, Butterscotch, Fireball and Athena! Layla, Patches and Athena will leave them alone, it's the boys I'm worried about!

Today I also read the rest of the anthology. It was a good read, but my favorite story had to be the Jill Shalvis one. The chemist and the contractor. Fun AND Hot! Now I just need to choose which of the two I have left to read. I'm leaning towards the mystery. Especially since it involves a cookie competition and I'll be baking like crazy later this week!

I wish I could sleep like this!

Don't you wish you could nap like a cat? Meaning anywhere and everywhere! I don't nap well and am kinda jealous of Layla here on my computer this afternoon.

I am exhausted. I didn't sleep well last night. Son is getting the same sinus thing/cold that Daughter and I had and he snored last night. I was alternately glad I could hear him breathing (I'm paranoid when my kids are sick) and irritated that I could hear him breathe. Loudly. But, as usual whenever Son is sick-he's bouncing around and all smiles. I'm also exhausted because after letting the kids out for a bit today, we then left to try and get some shopping done for Chris before I had to grocery shop. We hit one store where I was looking for something in particlar. They didn't have it. *sigh* I was counting on them having it. After that the kids and I decided to visit Marshall's where we did pick up something else for him. Then I started my regular shopping in, which included a trip to Target, a trip to Sam's and then we met up with Chris at WW. After all that I was shopped out and ready to go home, but we promised the kids a Christmas tree and it so happens while out we had seen a great price on trees! So, we ran by Bloom (Yes, we bought our tree at a Grocery Store.) where we bought a 6ft Douglad Fir for $20 AND they had just come in that day. I feel blessed because we found a beautiful tree at such a good price. *g* (Not to mention blessed that we made in home safe. Good golly these drivers are batty! I saw one car go the WRONG way down a turn lane. ON PURPOSE!)

As for reading, I did get to read the first story in the To All A Good Night anthology I picked up at the library yesterday. The epilogue didn't end on a happy note for a minor character. It was kind of a happiness plop as I was left wondering and puzzled. I have a feeling the author was setting up another storyline. I've just started the second story, by Jill Shalvis-one of my favorite authors. Am I the only one that likes anthologies? I like them because it's a nice sampler of different authors writing styles. I did forget to mention I also picked up a cookbook at the library yesterday. It's the Southern Living 2008 Annual Recipes book and wowza! There are some fabulous recipes in there. I think I may try the Christmas Shortbread cookies to take to Son's class next week. They sound delicious! Not to mention the cake on the cover made me drool. *g*

The day we took the Santa Hat pictures, Layla sat down, put her head down and would not cooperate. *G* Sad to say, this is one of the best pictures of the bunch. I do have one of Son wearing the hat. *G*
It rained all day and while I am not complaining, I waited until it had stopped to leave the house today. People here, well, they don't drive well in normal conditions when you put water on the road? Pure insanity.
I did make it to the library today, yes again. *G* I now have: To All A Good Night an anthology with Donna Kauffman, Jill Shalvis and HelenKay Dimon; This Christmas (A movie that came out last year that looked hilarious.); The Grease soundtrack on CD; Derik's Bane by MaryJanice Davidson; and The Christmas Cookie Killer by Livia J. Washburn. I feel like it was a VERY good trip. *G*
After the library I headed to the Y where I worked out alone, Chris had to work late and wasn't able to get there. (As a matter of fact I knew he'd have to work late and went to the Y earlier than usual this evening.) While I was working out the kids make Christmas tree ornaments. After that the kids and I arrived home not too very long after Chris. And then I made dinner.
I've been thinking (I know, always dangerous. *G*) Are there any books that are coming out in the new year you're looking forward to? I noticed that there are a few good books being released at the end of the month, but I'm talking about how it seems there will be some good books out next month and a bit beyond. *G* Here's my list. I'll admit, it's funny.

I will also admit that this years crop of Kitties with Santa Hats pictures didn't go well. Note Oreo. She does not look pleased. If looks could kill, I would have been gone. *G*

I had the whole library thing straightened out. They found the books on the cart and shelf and added them back to circulation. I am still miffed though, because I turned in 4 books at that time and two made it and two didn't. How does that happen?

Today has been dreary, rainy and foggy. I can say for the first time in a while I slept well. *G* There's something about the sound of rain that just relaxes me. *G*

And why is it people drive even more erratically in the rain? When we drove to the kids classes tonight it was a mess out. And there were some people driving WAY too fast for conditions. I can say that at least the fog wasn't as bad as in CA.

After the kids classes we headed to WW. I needed contact solution. *G* And after that we headed home. Blessed be. *G*

I didn't pick a book to read last night. I have three left from the library and for some reason, wasn't in the mood to read any of them. Have you ever had that happen? I'm sure I'll be in the mood to read one of them soon. I haven't been to the UBS or BAMM in a while. Maybe I'll get a chance this weekend, but I doubt it. This weekend alone we have to pick up the rest of the kids stocking stuffers, pick out a tree, decorate said tree, go grocery shopping (which involved three different stores), mail off my Christmas cards, sneak and get Chris' gifts (I know what they are, I just need to find the time to get them.) and find time for whatever else comes up. Oh, I forgot to say I was also asked to bring cookies to BOTH the kids classes for their SEPERATE Christmas parties next week. Daughters can have chocolate, but Son's can't because someone in his class is allergic to chocolate. I'm thinking it's time I taught Daughter to bake. *G*

Today has been overcast and gray. I don't believe the sun came out once! Son was better today with his schoolwork, but I wonder about something. He only acts hyper during math. I'm starting to think he's bored! And I can tell you his reading is getting better! He's also starting to read bits of my books as he sits on my lap (Trust me, I'm careful and thank goodness he's not able to read everything yet.). *g* We visited the library today and I dropped off a couple of books. I also picked up One Silent Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon and a couple of CD's. *G* I'd tell y'all what CD's I have, but I have a feeling our musical tastes may differ. *G* Although, I do like most music. Unfortunately I need to go back to the library tomorrow. I was checking my position on a hold this evening and found that the two books I returned are still on my account. To say I'm miffed is an understatement. I SAW the librarian, with the books in her hand, put them on the cart. *sigh* I did finish Suite 606 last night. I must say I liked the first and fourth story's the best. If you've read it, which did you like? I still have a couple of books left from the library, not counting the one I picked up this evening. I'm not sure which to read next! After the library we went to the Y and Chris was able to go tonight as well, Yay!

After that home, and dinner. *G*

Tomorrow we have the kids RE class in the evening. And Chris' day off. Help. Me. Ah, just kidding.

I can, just imagine, the thoughts racing through Oreo's mind. She's thinking if she kills my camera case that I can't take any more pictures. Silly kitty. She'd have to kill the camera for that! *G*

Today has not been the best day. Son could not sit still today (yes, he does get that way from time to time. I know he's a BOY. *G*) and Daughter is feeling better, but would find any excuse in the world to not clean her room or help me. Which is pretty normal for her, but I have to tell you. It get's old. Any ideas on how to get my 13 year old teenager to help out around here instead of just sitting around? I've tried the "when I was your age.....", and truly, when I was her age I was responsible and did what I was asked. She already doesn't get an allowance because of this. And I know the differing opinion of allowances not being tied to chores and whatnot, but to me an allowance is earned, not handed to you for no reason. Did you get an allowance? Was it earned or given?

I did finish Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb. LOVED it. J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) has a way of sucking you into a story, and these character Eve, Roarke, Peabody, etc, well, they almost feel like family at this point. I'm now reading Suite 606 the anthology with J.D. Robb, Mary Blayney, Ruth Ryan Langan, and Mary Kay McComas. I've already read the J.D. Robb story. As usual, engrossing and enjoyable. I'm reading the third story now. *g*

I had Yoga this evening and Chris didn't make it to the Y because he had to work late. So, he made dinner again, instead. I am enjoying not having to cook each and every evening. *G*

And we still seem to be in the doghouse with MIL. *G* No word from them since last week. It's been kinda nice, the silence. However, I am a bit on edge waiting for the "other shoe to drop". *sigh*

Tiger visits inside for a while!

Isn't Tiger a handsome fella? He's sweet as can be and adores Daughter and Chris. I don't pet him much (unless Layla isn't around) because Layla dislikes him. A lot. *g* As in she attacks him. He just looks at us like "what's her problem?". He's been coming in a bit since the weather has become cold in the evenings and he'll sit by Daughter and take a nap, then he's had enough of family life and he'll go back out and sleep in his house. (We bought him a dog, well, kitty house two years ago.) He's not much of an indoor cat and we've tried, but he prefers his space when he wants it. *G* Someone stole his tags not too long ago and I need to remember to pick him up another set. He was proud to wear them. *G*

Not much to share today. I ironed, did laundry and other than that took the day off (besides other Mom stuff like fixing lunches and snacks). I took the day off for a reason. I know myself and knew I wouldn't want to start Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb without having time I wouldn't be interrupted, even with sleeping! *G* I'm just about finished, with maybe 2 chapters to go and can say that it's a good story. We see more of Roarke and Eve's relationship as they seem to settle into marriage. I can say it's not as emotionally gripping as the last book, but I love it anyway. *G* I'm going to have to read the series over again one of these days.

Chris cooked dinner tonight, it was a nice change. We had patty melts, but forgot the onions, so I guess it was more of a grilled cheeseburger. *g*

Oh, Daughter was feeling better today, than she was last night anyway. Her lymph nodes were bothering her last night and we were thinking we'd have to take her to the Doctor today, but she woke up feeling better. She still has drainage and a headache because of it, but otherwise feels okay. I still made her sit around today and wouldn't let her go outside. Son did go outside coming in every ten minutes or so because his hands (with gloves on) were getting so cold they were bothering him. He was driving me crazy! *G* Eventually he just came in and stayed. He's been watching Christmas movies all afternoon and evening. And I? Well, we'll just say I'm not in the Christmas mood yet. How about y'all?

Anyway, that's it from me. I'm tired, want to finish up my book and need to paint my toenails, especially since I have Yoga tomorrow and tend to see alot of my feet then. *G* Maybe I'll go with sparkly red to rev up my Holiday mood. She'd rather be held like a baby!

Athena didn't care too much about wearing the hat the other day. She liked me scratching her chest more than she disliked the hat. *G* Isn't she a pretty girl? *g*

Today was not an improvement upon yesterday. Daughter is still sick, as a matter of fact she had a fever today. Something I am not happy about because it left her feeling so badly. I hate when my babies are sick. Luckily she consented to take some more ibuprofen today to lower her fever. And while this sounds fairly routine to y'all, Daughter and medication don't go together well. If it's liquid, it comes right back up and chewable was pure hades because she refused to take it and her gag relfex backed up her decision. *G* To give you a small picture of how bad it's been with medicating her while she was growing up, I had to have the Doctor give her a SHOT of penicillan(sp) when she was 5 because I KNEW she wouldn't/couldn't take the amoxacillan. I think the Doc thought I was nuts (and mean) until I explained. Now that's she's a teenager she can handle regular meds. Thank goodness. She's been lying on the couch all day and I've been keeping an eye on her.

Which meant that we, meaning the kids and I, didn't go anywhere today. I had to send Chris out on errands. *G* Poor man. *g* He dropped on some things at the library for me and went and bought new paint. We went with our old stand by as far as colors go, the natural. It will actually work well anyway. Our bedroom is the color of the distant ocean and that color is close to sand, so it should work well. Cross you fingers, goodness knows I would, but then I couldn't type. *G* I also sent him to Marshall's to see if they had the last thing I wanted to pick up for Son that I had seen there a couple of weeks ago. As luck would have it, they did! (Which was almost a hassle as they'd lost the box and wanted to charge him $3 more than I knew it was. I told him to tell them what the box looked like and what the price had been on that box. What? I pay attention to detail!) He ended up getting it for the price I quoted and now Son will have a Commander Rex (From Star Wars.) skateboard. And I'M DONE for the kids. DONE. *happy sigh* Crud. Except for stocking stuffers. And I just need Son's anyway, I already picked up Daughters.

On the way home he bought me some gas, wasn't that sweet? *G* And I returned the favor by making dinner! *G* Little pizzas, which are fast becoming another family favorite. Even picky Son likes them and COMPLIMENTED me on them. How weird! But cute! *g*

An out-take of the Christmas kitty pics!

This isn't a picture I'd normally post, but the look on Layla's face is hilarious. She was mad and wanted that hat OFF. *G* If you can see the look on her face (Don't tell me cats don't have expressions, I know they do!), you can see how she was ready to be done NOW. Poor Layla, doesn't she know Santa only brings goodies to good little girl kitties? No catnip treats and boiled chicken for you little girl unless your attitude changes! *G*

I could say today has been busy, but it really hasn't. Son made another 100 on his spelling test as did Daughter. (I made Son flash cards to study every afternoon and they seem to be working, (New cards per each week.)) Oh, and guess what happened last night right before bed? Son lost his other front tooth! Guess who could get away with singing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"? *G* He looks so cute! And we've been making him say "s" words all day. *G* There was a mad dash around the house last night looking for a $1. I don't normally keep cash, nor does Chris, because it's so easy to lose track of. However, we lucked out and I found a dollar coin in the closet. Whew!

Daughter isn't feeling well today. I'm hoping she didn't catch whatever it is I can't shake. *g* Stupid drainage!

In good news Chris started decorating the outside of the house and when it turned dark this evening he's moved on to painting our bathroom! YAY! It's just white paint, we don't have the best luck choosing bathroom paint colors. *G* The downstairs bath? We've tried yellow (Pale yellow that BLINDED us.), blue, gray, an almost turquoise and have settled on "natural" which is the same color we have in the LR and kitchen. *G* It's kind of a light kahki color. I'm still struggling on choosing the right wood color for the floors we'll be putting in next year. EDITED TO ADD: Omgosh, the white looks SO wrong. *head thunk* We're going to have to go paint shopping tomorrow. ACK! HELP!

No reading today yet, I've been a bit busy (see post below) but it's not bed time yet, either. I do have to get off, however, and clean up the kitchen. Exercise: Nope. I cleaned the furniture (not just the wood, but the leather), laundry and cooking, all after the kids homeschooling. I didn't have time today.

Rewarding the Hubs!

I made this tonight to reward the hubs. While I polished furniture, remade the bed with clean linens and straightened up the house......hubs started to put up the Christmas lights outside and also is painting our Master bathroom! WOO! Oh, yeah, that's Chicken Pot Pie, btw. *G*

I can't see you!

We took this picture last night. Butterscotch thinks that if he closes his eyes and can't see you, then you can't see him. *g* I hate to break it to him, but it just makes him cuter. So, does he make a cute Santa Claws? *G* (Sorry couldn't help myself.)

Today was Chris' second day off this week. He had days to use and has taken Thursday and Friday, on top of his real day's off Wednesday and Saturday. *sigh* So far all the things he's promised me he would take care of, are not done. However, he did spend the day testing his outdoor lights for decorating. He'll have a whole week off later this month, too. Help. *g* And I? I vacummed, cleaned, and did laundry after the kids were finished with their schoolwork.

At least we were able to make it to the library today. I now have Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb in my eager hands. But, I want to finish the other book I'm reading right now first. Now I just need to find the time to do so. *g*

I can say that it's amazing, the recipes you can come up with just playing around with a can of onion soup. *G* I made a beef tip over rice dinner tonight that had Daughter and hubs fawning over it. I love when that happens! I'm not a big red meat eater, but they are.

And that's about it. Nothing else interesting. *g* We're pretty quiet people and I kinda prefer it that way. I hope y'all had an intersting and enjoyable day. I wish a fun, fabulous and fantastic Friday. Goodnight, B.

Cats are too Curious!

Oreo, Butterscotch and Layla wanted to know what was in the storage box. Badly! So, I had Daughter flip the top off and let them see. *g* Of course, being my kitties, they couldn't help but look! (This box contains our outdoor decorations, which are still not up yet. *g*)

Today was....long. *g* I didn't sleep well and then ended up oversleeping when I did. Today was Chris' day off, so that meant that although he was home, he overslept, too. *sigh* But, everything was done (meaning the kids schoolwork) and I even took the time to file my paperwork (re. bills) in their seperate files. I do wish I'd checked the library website before we were getting ready to leave this afternoon to take the kids to their class. Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb is there, waiting on me! YAY! But, BOO! Because I didn't have time to go pick it up this afternoon. And yes, the library does call me and tell me when my books from Hold are in, they just wait a day, where as I check my account with them every day. *G*

I seemed to have put my foot in my mouth a bit yesterday when I was talking about MIL and gift giving. I DID give her a few suggestions for Daughter (earrings-Daughter loves earrings, a nerf dart gun-both kids want one, and anything Tinkerbell). I even showed her the kids wish lists. It is NOT my fault that she won't listen. I even asked Daughter. Daughter WANTS a gift card because she and her Grandmother do not share the same taste. But, I just want y'all to understand that although she asks and asks, she doesn't listen. She loves them, and yes they visit often, but don't take the time to dig deeper to know their grandchildren. They are good people, and that's all I'll say.

After taking the kids to class this evening Chris and I ran to BAMM where I picked up something for Daughter and then we picked the kids back up and headed to.....*gasp* the MALL! We rarely go to the Mall, but I needed unmentionables. (When I told Daughter that when she asked what we were there for she gave me a look and "what?".) While there we did spy the SEE's kiosk and drool a bit. I LOVE that they give out free samples. Btw, the dark chocolate enrobed caramels? LOVE, LOVE them. *G* Chris will sneak back and get gold coins for the kids stockings later, it's another quircky tradition we have that I have NO idea how it was started, but the kids look forward to it every year. Along with an orange and apple in each of their stockings as well. Does your family do stockings?

I'm still reading the Kerrelyn Sparks book. I haven't had time to read much and the whole not sleeping well thing is making it even harder. I can say this book has started off really well and I can't wait to get deeper into it. I only made it another chapter further last night and hope tonight will be differnt. *g* What are y'all reading now? Anything specific coming out this month you're waiting for? What about next month? The one I'm looking forward to the most? The new Arcane Society novel by Jayne Ann Krentz at the end of this month. It's titled Running Hot. The premise sounds very interesting and the blurb I've read just makes it harder to wait! *g*

Fireball investigates the Holiday Decorations!

I make Chris wait every year to put up the Holiday decorations until it's officially December, so last night he got out the outdoor decorations and set our front door bell-wreath on my chair. Fireball immediately jumped up to investigate! (And y'all thought I was nosey! *g*) Btw, the cats don't like this wreath when we jangle it. Much fun ensues when we do. Just saying. *G*

Today has been a bit better compared to the last few days, but it was still chilly! At least the sun was out. Mostly. I can say the kids are driving me batty about their schoolwork this week and not buckling back down. *sigh*But, as we get back into the rythm I am sure that things will straighten back out. And Daughter is grounded again because she was told to clean her room, and didn't. I was an oddity, an agreeable teenager, she? Is driving me batty.

I've been coughing like wacky the past couple of days and am ready to get rid of whatever this is. Any takers? *g* AND I had to put up with MIL on the phone today. She was not happy to hear that Daughter would prefer a gift card to, say, a pair of roller skates. Hello? Daughter's generation likes Heelie's. I can't help it if her teenage Grandaugher would rather choose her own things. Don't most teenagers? I could hear the aggravation WITH ME over the phone. Why call and ask me and then get nasty over the answer? So, because of all that today, I think I kinda deserved the white chocolate chip macadamia cookies this afternoon. All three of them. *G*

But, being the weird guilty feeling soul I am because of the cookies, I went to the Y tonight to work out. I took it easy, but still feel better (at least in my head) for it. *g*

The good news is I was able to read a bit while there and started All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks. The first couple of chapters have made me chuckle, something I needed today. I hope to be able to read more tonight. Oh, and no. I didn't finish the Welcome to Serenity by Sherryl Woods. I read the first couple of pages, but needed a laugh, so put it down. I'm sure I'll finish it later this week.

We received our first Holiday card today! Is it just me, or is it a bit early? I like to send out cards, so if you'd like one, please send me your address soon! If not, is it okay if I send you an e-card? I just want y'all to know how much I appreciate each of you. Y'all keep me from being lonely and keep me smiling. *g*

Exercise: 2.25 miles on the elyptical, 1 mile on the treadmill and 25 minutes of weights. I now feel like I'm 80. But, I no longer feel as guilty about those cookies. *G*

OMgosh! Today was chilly! Our high was 43 with very gusty winds, making it feel like it was 32. I don't know about y'all, but that's an inside day to me. There is even a winter storm advisory for surrounding states NC and GA. Why does everyone think there is Global Warming? Trust me. Visit. It's not happening here!

We did eventually have to leave the warmth of the house to visit the library on the way to the Y this evening and upon leaving the library we noticed the moon, Jupiter and Venus surrounding it. It was so cool! Especially since Son's Science this week is featuring Earth and planets. *G* Oh, and at the library I picked up a couple more books (What? You can NEVER have enough books. Never. *g*) So, I now have Silver Bells an anthology with JoAnn Ross, Mary Burton and Judy Duarte. I also have How to Ditch Your Fairy by Justine Larbalestier (a YA and new-to-me author). I ALSO picked up Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. I have watched this movie every single year since it first aired and am making it a tradition for my kids. *g* Do y'all have Holiday traditions? Ones you grew up with, or ones you've made on your own since becoming an adult?

I did make it to Yoga tonight. I've told Chris I won't miss that class unless I have Pneumonia. *G*

Still no word from the Out-laws on those pictures, thank goodness. Yes, I get that it's ironic that I love to take pictures, but hate to be IN pictures. If I could do anything I wanted as a career (Later on when the kids are older and don't need me.) I'd love to just be able to take pictures. I know my personality. I'm an observer and think it would work out well. I thought about being a Librarian, but the course work requires public speaking. I can't do that.The thought of standing up in front of more than one person and speaking terrifies me. Kind of funny considering I've been in Chorus' and Chorale's and an Accapella group. *g* And I can write poetry, but who says anyone would want to read it? *G* I know my limitations. What about y'all. If you could be anything, what would it be?

The Amazing Butterscotch, the Bendy Cat!

Butterscotch does look as though he can contort himself into just about any position. Here he is outside the bathroom curving himself around the corner. *g* He is a sweet but, slightly daffy cat. *G*
Today has been slow. Rainy, cold and slow. *G* And the rain is expected to contiue until Tuesday, with possible ice. I'd rather have snow than ice! The good news about a day like today is that I only had one errand to make to the pharmacy and then we could stay snuggled inside. After vacumming and ironing I was finally able to read, YAY! I finished Wolfsbane and Mistletoe. It was quite an interesting read! I liked most the stories, but there were a few that I was wondering WHAT the author was thinking. And there was one where I was sure the author had to have been drinking or smoking something funny whenthey wrote it. *G* I physically went "Huh? What the? Are you kidding me?". And even smacked my forehead! But, this is why I like anthologies, it allows you to sample an author without commiting to an entire book by that author and thanks to this anthology I will be looking up a few new authors at the library! *g* And now I need to choose something else from my stash from the library to read. Choices, choices. Aren't they lovely? *g*
This evening when Chris arrived home I made dinner, turkey stir fry. *G* I don't think Daughter would mind if we ate that every day for a week. It's her favorite thing to do with leftovers. Which we're just about out of, thank goodness! What's your favorite thing to make with Thanksgiving leftovers? And do you make the same meal at Christmas? We don't! *G* I couldn't handle turkey again that soon!

Will it ever stop raining?

Poor Layla, it drizzled all day today and the sun never came out to warm her tummy. *G* She looked for it and waited. Too bad Layla, no sun for us until Tuesday! *G*

Today has been drizzly (Is that a word?) today and very chilly. I woke up early and felt rough, so I spent the morning being lazy. *g* We didn't have to go have pictures made today. There was some kind of snafu, so NO PICTURES! YAY! The kids didn't mind if it were raining and cold, they played with their friends and Daughter is spending the night with her friend across the street. Poor Son, he's not quite sure how to act with Daughter away and Daughter's kitty, Patches is wandering the house looking for her. We did take Son shopping for Daughter's Christmas gifts this evening. He liked that he was able to help shop for her and we'll see how well he keeps this secret. *G* (I'm hoping he forgets what we bought. *G*)

I do have a weird question for y'all. We've been eyeing the Star Wars Ultimate Lightsabers for Son and noticed that the price has actually fluctuated on Amazon. (Right now the price is the same as in stores, but with free shipping because it's over $25 and no tax.) But, it had been $5 cheaper and then changed and then it was $5 cheaper again. IN TWO WEEKS. *sigh* I went ahead and ordered it today, but it irks me that the price kept changing from one day to the next. Would you email the company? And yes, I know that they won't do anything about it, I just wish to let them now how displeased I am. *g*

Still haven't read today. I'll find time soon. Keeping Son occupied has been fun. *G* And I'll tell you something funny. He would not stop talking on the way to the stores this evening! *g* But, Chris and I treated him to McDonald's tonight and that seemed to make him happy.

I can tell y'all that I am sore today, and not just from the cold. Playing Basketball with Son yesterday left my arm's sore and I work out with weights during the week that don't leave me this sore! *g*

Layla, the stern Queen!

This picture of Layla is absolutely HILARIOUS. It proves that there is hardly ever a bad picture taken, it just depends on how you look at it. *G* This was taken with my cell phone and one of the kids had put a tiara on Layla that a friend had given us. It suits her, doesn't it? *G* Does it not look as though she'll tell you exactly what to do and how to do it? *G*

Today wasn't too bad. We were able to get Son's hair cut this afternoon before the extended family dinner. For once I walked in, told them how to cut it AND IT WAS DONE the way I wanted it! *g* 

We actually arrived early for the dinner, we were the first ones there, we even beat the Out-laws! I kept Son company by playing basketball with him in the gymnasium where the dinner was held. And managed to get a few balls in the basket, Son did, too! It was fun to play with him and keep out of the way. We were there for almost 3 hours and afterwards we went grocery shopping. Then, home for a snack and a bit of relaxing before bed. 

I haven't had time to read today. I have all these books and no time to read any of them! Tomorrow, maybe, I'll be able to read. *sigh* I'm not feeling well right now, so I'm headed off. I hope y'all had a relaxing and fun day. Goodnight, B.

Ahoy!

Didn't expect to see this when you popped over today, did you? What you're seeing is the reason we stayed home for Thanksgiving. So Son and Daughter could have a GOOD TIME. I was making dessert early this afternoon and Son spied my dough hook for the mixer. That was all it took, he grabbed it, ran upstairs and grabbed his eye patch, back downstairs for his 'cutlass' and begged me to make him a pirate hat. *G* He spent a good amount of time going around the house yelling "Avast ye maties!". *G* Which was funny coming out of the mouth of a child who reminds me more and more of Huckelberry Finn, with his freckles, bright and merry blue eyes, (right now) his gapped tooth grin and his shock of bright red hair. (I know that last one throws you for a minute, but trust me, he really does.) Daughter would sigh and roll her eyes, but I caught her grinning at him a time or two as well. *G*

I could tell y'all about the turkey and all the trimmings we had today, but I'm STILL full. I WILL tell y'all that the dessert I made for us was well received. *G* And tomorrow? We get to do it all again with the extended family. I better get better and able to work out soon or I'm going to go nutty! *G* AND YAY! I got my voice back sometime this afternoon, it was gone all morning. *g*
