Sunny Days, Talking 'bout Sunny Days!

Hmm, I THINK that's how one of the songs on Sesame Street went. *g* Which I now have running through my head and thought to share with y'all. Nice that way, aren't I? *g* Here are Layla, Patches and Midnight enjoying the sun from the other day. They look comfy, don't they?

A rather long day here. Daughter had a Teen Event at the library today, they played Bingo. Daughter didn't win anything this time, though. But, she's okay with that.
After dropped Daughter off to the event Son and I headed home where I took care of laundry and dusting/polishing the furniture. After picking Daughter up we headed home for a few minutes to gather snacks and drinks for the afternoon and we then headed out. First stop was to pay the taxes on the Jeep and receive the sticker for the tag. The place was PACKED. Lined up almost out of the door and not a parking place to be found. But, we managed to get in and out in a semi-timely manner. Then it was off to the Pine Y for Daughter to teach the 4-5pm class. Because Daughter was also asked to teach the 6-7pm class, we really couldn't go anywhere. But, Son begged and begged for a snack from Wendy's which just happens to be on the corner next door to the Pine Y. I'm not sure if it's funny or just ironic to have a fast food place practically next door to a YMCA. *g* After picking up the kids snack we headed back and I worked out while they ate and during the start of the next class. Only. No one showed up for the 6-7pm class. Why the MA director just didn't cancel classes this week anyway, I don't know. But, it was a waste of our time to have stayed as long as we did. The kids were kind to give me a few minutes to finish my workout and then we headed home, stopping briefly to grab some fuel.

Chris arrived home this evening before we did so he started dinner and Daughter and I finished it. Yummy stir fry! We all watched a little tv and then headed upstairs. One thing I did notice, tonight. I wasn't as tired. I had been eating some pistachios every day for a snack and was SO tired last night it wasn't funny. As a matter of fact, I'd had some almost every day this week. I didn't have any today. And have felt normal. I'm thinking the difference is how I feel is the only corroboration I need to know that Pistachios are a goitrogen for me. I'm going to miss them. *g*

As for reading? I'm now reading You Dropped a Blonde On Me by Dakota Cassidy. It's about a former trophy wife trying to pick up the pieces of her life during a nasty divorce and after being reunited with an old high school classmate who has always had a crush on her and is now pursuing a relationship with her. There are some funny scenes and some "OMGosh, take back your life" moments.

Anyway, time to head offline. MIL is taking the kids to a movie tomorrow and Chris is off of work tomorrow (and God help me talking about taking ALL of next week off since he's finally out of teaching class for a week). I'm going to need every second of sleep I can get. *g* I hope y'all had a Enjoyable Thursday. I wish a fun, fantastic and awesome New Year's Eve Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8.62 miles on stationary bike at level 11 (Ha! Finally!), 25 minutes of weights, 5 minutes of sit-ups.

Pretty Pepper!

I took this picture this afternoon. I couldn't help it, Pepper was just sitting on the scratching, um, plaything and as she's the only cat who actually sits on it correctly and she's my "Baby" and why do I need an excuse to take a picture of Pepper? *g* I was joking to Daughter this evening that Pepper is quite intelligent, but her face has a rather vacant expression on it. Don't let it fool you. *g* She plays a great goalie with ice whenever I get a drink. *g*

I am absolutely exhausted this evening. I even catnapped on my chair after dinner this evening and I NEVER do that unless I'm sick. So, this is it for me to night. I will ask you to share what three books you're most looking forward to being released early in the 2011 year? Mine?
1. Love Bites by Tori Carrington (A Sofie Metropolis book). I have been waiting for this book for what seems like forever. (Release date February 1, 2011)
2. The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen (Release date March 22, 2011)
3. Wickedly Charming by Kristin Grayson (Release date May 1, 2011) I have waited over five years for another book by this author.

These are just a few of the 22 books already on my TBR list for the coming year. How about you?

Anyway, I hope y'all had a Wonderful Wednesday. I wish a Thankful and Thoughtful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: 55 minutes of Zumba and her iPod died so we did over 5 minutes of pushups while she figured out how to continue the music.

P.S. Does anyone know if Pistachios are a Goitrogen.

Catnip Christimas!

On Christmas day I realized I hadn't picked up a treat for the cats. I know my main concentration was the kids, but I still felt bad. So, I gathered some leftover fabric from an old project, a needle and thread, some ribbon, some cotton and the home-grown catnip that is hanging in the garage. At first I tried to cut out a fish pattern, but it didn't go well when I tried to turn out the fins. So, I decided to go with a plain sachet. The cats? Were thrilled. Midnight loves it and he guarded the sachet with vigor as he SOAKED it. (Ewwww, but still kinda sweet.) Since then the other kitties have taken turns with it and I'm glad that they had a small gift, too.

It's been an okay day. Daughter felt better after a shower today and didn't want to disappoint the kids she teaches so we headed over to the MT Y this afternoon for her to teach class. I worked out during class, but my hands are now bothering me. Fun. After class we headed by the library where I picked up two holds that had come in for me and a hold that had come in for Son. I now have In Too Deep by Jayne Ann Krentz, this is Fallon's story and if you're a fan of her Arcane series like I have been you know this book was eagerly awaited. I also picked up In the Company of Vampires by Katie MacAlister. This book is related to a set of YA books she wrote a few years ago that STILL sit on my keeper shelves. Only, in this book her YA characters are all grown up! Ben and Fran fans rejoice! *g*

The kids and I then headed to the Pine Y where Daughter assured me she was up to taking class. Only the black belt from last week didn't show up (though I know we were told he would be teaching today) and so Daughter taught class. Since it was just Daughter teaching, Son and one other student I decided to try class for a bit. I did well for fifteen minutes or so, but then my hands started aching again and my feet didn't like the twisting motion of a back-fist body punch combo move. So, I sat down and watched the rest of the class. Daughter was already told/asked by the MA director to teach both classes on Thursday so that means she's going to end up teaching the whole week. I? Am beyond miffed and have not paid for this months classes since she's taught more than half of them and am wondering whether to pay for January! Why should I pay for my Daughter to take a class WHEN SHE'S TEACHING IT? *sigh* And right now they're stagnating. Daughter can only teach what she's been taught, where's she going to go from here? We need to seriously consider one of the two karate schools I've narrowed our search down to and visit them.

Anyway, after all that the kids and I after talking to Chris we stopped by the grocery store on the way home for something. In the parking lot there was a dog. It didn't seem to belong to anyone and seemed friendly. We headed inside the store and found our purchase, checked out and went out and the dog was still there. I have to say I was very tempted to take him/her home with us but with so many cats? And not knowing how the dog would react to cats? Well, I told someone inside the store and they came out to check it out and we had to go. And I started to cry on the way home. It broke my heart to leave the dog there. I said a prayer that it finds it's owners or another loving home and it hurts my heart to think of that poor dog out there. I hope the cashier I told who went outside with us was able to help the poor thing. And may I forgive myself for leaving it there.

We had a simple dinner tonight and watched some reruns on tv. The kids watched the Hold that had come in for Son, the movie Avatar. The kids were able to see the movie in theaters when it was first released and are fans of the cartoon and were happy to re-watch the movie tonight. And I? Mostly read.

I finished the Penny McCall book, Worth the Trip last night and started another this afternoon. However, after picking up the Jayne Ann Krentz book from the library I put the other book down and started reading Fallon's book. I really enjoyed the book. (Yes, that's right, past tense. I finished it just a bit ago-I HAD to read it.) Fallon's character was filled out a bit more and while he's definitely curt and somewhat reclusive the heroine, Isabelle seems a perfect foil for him. The mystery was a interesting and while it seemed to drag a bit in the middle, the ending was satisfactory.

And now it's time for me to head offline. It's late, I'm exhausted and my hands hurt. Definitely sounds like time to get some sleep. *g* I hope y'all had an interesting and enjoyable Tuesday. I wish a wonderful Wednesday filled with good books. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 7 miles stationary bike @ level 10, 25 minutes weights, 5 minutes sit-ups, 15 minutes Karate.

One more pretty picture!

I'll return to my regular kitty pictures tomorrow. However, I just had to share this picture taken yesterday with y'all. You can just barely see the red barn from the farm near us. (Our neighborhood used to be farmland, too.)(It might be easier to see if you click on the picture.) The snow was very pretty, but as of today most is gone. Wherever the sun's rays landed the snow melted. No more cotton and crystal tipped trees. Ah, well. Maybe we'll get some more 'next' year. *g*

Daughter went to bed not feeling well last night and woke today not feeling well. She has the same symptoms that Son started with and I've been doing some research. It sounds a lot like sinusitis. Yay. *sigh* I've made her rest today and have been keeping an eye on her. No fever, thank goodness. Son seems fine, so this thing seems to run about two weeks. Woo. I went ahead and gave them this week off of schoolwork, too. The nice part about homeschooling.
Other than catering to Daughter today and taking care of things around here, not much else to report. Oh, I have started reading one of my books, Worth The Trip by Penny McCall. So far it's been good. I like the heroine and the plot is interesting. I'm about a third of the way through and am going to try and enjoy the time off this week and get some reading done.

I need to gather everyone and send them to bed, so this is it for me. (For now, anyway. *g*) I hope y'all had a nice and warm (Brrr! It's cold everywhere right now!) Monday. I wish a tranquil and safe Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 7 miles on stationary bike @ level 10, 1 hour Yoga.

Beautiful and Fun Winter!

These pictures were taken today before the snow began to melt in ernest. The top picture is off a tree that sits around the entrance to our neighborhood. The second photo is of Midnight enjoying an outing outside. He likes being outside and doesn't care if there is snow on the ground. Tonight as I sit typing this most of the snow is gone. What lasts are the patches that no one touched, but in our yard there isn't much left.

Speaking of the weather, those of you who live up North probably thought my comments about being housebound were funny. I'll be the first to admit that people here are a little weird about driving in the snow. However, the roads were sprayed and sanded and were fine this afternoon. Not to mention Chris' car has All Wheel Drive and we also have the Jeep which has 4x4. However, we are careful of all the other idiot drivers around here not used to driving in these conditions. We did make it out this afternoon, after the kids had made tons of snowballs and sled down their friends hill. They had a good time before we left.
Our first stop was B&N where Daughter picked up a book, a notebook and a frappucino. I also picked up a few books which now means I have a small stack of books TBR. I now have: You Dropped a Blonde on Me by Dakota Cassidy, Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews, Alien Tango by Gini Kock (A Christmas gift from Chris), Black Wings by Christina Henry, and Worth the Trip by Penny McCall. Each one of these books are books I know the library won't be purchasing. I am happy to have books to read!
After B&N we took the kids to Target where they spent some of their gift cards. Son bought extra ammo and clips for his Nerf gun and Daughter bought the exact Nerf gun that Son received for Christmas, only in color. (Son's is clear, they both love taking it apart and putting it back together. Strange kids. *g*) Chris and I picked up a tote for all our Christmas wrappings and bags and such. It was on sale! Yay! I've been keeping everything in an old huge gift bag, but it's been tearing for a while now so we decided to pick up a tote to put everything in. I can't believe how many gift bags we have!
After Target we went to Marshall's because Son wanted new headphones for his iPod, and he wanted ones like Daughter bought recently. Yeah, the fun part of having siblings. *sigh*
Then it was on to Gamestop where the kids spent more of their money and each one bought a Wii game. Daughter bought Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Son bought Lego Batman.
We then quickly went by the grocery store to pick up some Spring onion (aka Green onion) to put on the chili that had been simmering in the crock-pot all day. YUM!
After all that we were all ready to head home. Daughter started to feel achey and I was really tired. So, we've had a quiet evening at home in front of the tv. And I ironed and took care of some laundry.

And that leads to now. Time for me to head offline. I hope y'all had a quiet and peaceful Sunday. I wish a low-key and safe Monday for each of you. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Chris and I took a walk this afternoon to take pictures and explore the snow, plus all the shopping we did.

Gorgeous!

These pictures are from the Christmas party we attended Christmas Eve (after spending the afternoon at the Out-laws). The people who throw the party are friends of the Out-laws and SIL&BIL. They invite us every year and we've attended for the past four years. They are the sweetest people and the wife adores Daughter. These pictures are just the TIP of the decorating. The home looked as though it were decorated for Southern Living magazine. And the food was fabulous. It was a bit of everything from veggies to brownies to chocolate covered, well, anything to  homemade apple cider doughnuts to Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets, cookies,  Mediterranean  rice pilaf. There was coffee, Apple Cider, tea and hot chocolate. (I stuck with water.) And the guest of honor was a jolly man in a red velvet suit with bells on his cuffs. *g* Daughter played Santa's Helper and handed out gifts. (Parents were told if they wanted they could bring a gift for Santa to give to their child. It was hard being sneaky and getting the gift to him without the kids knowing. Yes, kids, we even had him give one to Daughter. Nothing big, just small gift cards.) The kids had fun, but we didn't stay long because Son looked tired. So, we headed home.

The kids were so excited yesterday. Well, Son was. He had a good day and last night after arriving home he and Daughter were allowed to open one gift before bed. (A tradition we've done since the kids were born, it was one my mom did with me.) The cats were well behaved last night and left the gifts alone. And after the kids had gone to bed and we could see Son sleeping Chris and I headed downstairs to play Santa. We filled the kids stockings and wrote a note from Santa thanking the kids for the cookies. Yeah, we're weird that way.

This morning we slept a bit late, I guess we were all tired. And as soon as we woke Son he bounded from bed and almost ran downstairs without his glasses! They tore through their gifts. And though there weren't as many as we would have liked the kids seemed happy. Daughter has not taken off the bracelet "Santa" brought her all day. But, the greatest gift of all? WE GOT SNOW! It started around 4pm and hasn't stopped since! It's not a big amount of accumulation but it's lovely to look at and Son had a blast playing out in it. It's not supposed to stop until early tomorrow afternoon and though we'll only see about 3 inches, we'll happy because there hasn't been snow here on Christmas in 47 years. A lovely gift.

We had a nice afternoon and evening and spent part of it watching the second season of The Big Bang Theory DVD's we gifted Chris with. *g* We all headed upstairs and Son decided he didn't feel well. Next thing we knew he didn't make it to the sink in the bathroom. *sigh* Poor baby. Unfortunately Midnight happened to be in the way and he needed a bath, Son needed another bath and the bathroom needed to be cleaned from the floors to the walls. Yeah. Yuck. As soon as he was recleaned and reclothed he felt better. We're keeping an eye on him. He has no fever and says he feels better. I am keeping a close eye on him, but it's weird how this came out of the blue. I'm hoping it was a one time thing.

And that leads to now. Because of the snow I can't get to B&N tomorrow to buy books! (Gift card from lovely SIL& BIL.) Oh, well. I did get Alien Tango from Gini Koch from Chris this morning, so I DO have something to read. Yay! It's late, it took a long time to clean up everything, so I'm headed offline. I hope y'all had a Glorious and Merry Christmas! Blessed be and Good night, B.

Exercise: None. And way too much snacking today. Snowball fight planned for tomorrow, though! *g*

Merry Christmas!

This ornament is from our tree, we love how it's backlit by the Christmas lights.
It's been a super long day and an even longer night. So, I'll post about things later. I wish each and everyone of you a Blessed and Merry Christmas. May you know you are loved and treasured.
Goodnight,
B.

Santa Kitty Pictures!

I have one with his eyes open, but I thought this one was better because he looks as though he's smiling. *g* Butterscotch was one of the few who stood still this year as we took pictures. Midnight wanted to walk backwards and kept looking up at the hat. I'll admit we laughed. *g*

It's been a long, long day. This afternoon we headed out early to do our grocery shopping. We made it to Aldi and Sam's Club before we had to head home and put everything away and make a quick trip by the library to drop off a few items. The the kids and I headed to the Pine Y for their MA class. The MA Director taught the class today, but I worked out and didn't watch, so I have no idea if he ticked Daughter off or not. *g*
Afterwards we headed home and waited for Chris to arrive home from work and then he and I headed out to WW to finish up grocery shopping. That place? Was a MADHOUSE. If I didn't have to be out in it for groceries I wouldn't have been there. I am SO glad I don't have to go back tomorrow. No, tomorrow we have to spend with the Out-laws. And then tomorrow night we have a Christmas party to attend. Yeahhh, are y'all getting why I "rested" yesterday? Now, knowing me the way you do, y'all won't be surprised to learn that I plan on taking care of some laundry and cleaning a bit before we leave because I just. can't. leave. it. alone.
Tonight, after dinner and while getting ready for bed Son said he didn't feel well. I'll have to keep an eye on him tonight and see how he feels. If he doesn't feel well tomorrow I'll send Daughter and Chris and he and I will stay home. Send good thoughts for him please because he's been looking forward to and is so excited that it's going to be Christmas Eve. He's been counting down the days for WEEKS now. *g*

As for my reading? I haven't had much chance to do that today, though I did purchase a kindle book for $1, a Heather Graham book. I put it on my iPod and read a couple of chapters while at the Y earlier this afternoon. So far so good.

Anyway, time for me to get some much needed sleep. I hope y'all had a good Thursday. I wish a festive and jolly Christmas Eve Day and Night for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 8.10 miles stationary bike @ level 10, 20 minutes weights, 5 minutes sit-ups, 5 minutes stretching.

Piranah Kitten!

See those very tiny looking teeth? Those teeth are sharp and Wicket likes to chew on everything! Including us! I've taken to blowing in her face when she bites my hands and she does NOT like that. She bats at my face when I do it. *g* We don't mind when she chews on her toys, though. *g* Oh, and see those ears? Yeah, they're bigger than her entire head. *g*

I did something today y'all will have a hard time believing. I rested! I put my feet on my ottoman and played on the computer a bit and then I *gasp* read a book! Shocking! *g* And if my mind went to planning our upcoming menu for two weeks or I thought about how I really needed to clean something, anything, well, I stopped myself. Mostly. *g*
This afternoon I headed out with a quick run by the library to pick up Dash and Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn (A YA by a new-to-me author.) and The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes From an Accidental Country Girl by Ree Drummond (obviously a cookbook by a new-to-me author, though I have taken a look at her website. Can I just say AWESOME!) The cookbook? Has such mouthwatering photos in it that you really could drool looking at them and it's interspersed with photos of Ranch life and her family. I really want to pick up my own copy of this one.
I then went to the MT Y for Zumba. The kids stayed home because Chris was less than a half hour from being home and Son didn't have KidFit class tonight so they wanted to play the Wii and for the games they wanted to play, well, watching paint dry is more fun than watching then play those games. I prefer the games where they have to move around, but they have a few where it's like a regular game console.
I had fun in class and then headed home where I confessed that I was craving red meat. Badly. I don't do that often and it usually signifies that I need red meat, so we had burgers for dinner. Yummy. And afterwards I felt better. Which is weird because I can't remember the last time I ate a burger. I'm sure it was at least 6 months ago, if not more. But, I listened to my body.

This evening we ended up watching a couple reruns and I mostly finished the book I was reading, Always the Baker, Never the Bride by Sandra D. Bricker. It was a cute inspirational relationship book. It covered topics from overcoming loss, to diabetes to prayer, to all types of relationships. I enjoyed it, but wasn't quite satisfied with everything, though I did get over the Southern accent thing. Next up is the YA.

Tomorrow promises to be busy. I have grocery shopping to take care of as well as a couple of errands for the kids and then later we have MA class. Can't wait to see how that plays out. Or actually, I can. I dread going over there tomorrow. Not because of the kid that taught Tuesday (He's already let us know he can't teach at the time we attend on Thursday.), but because the MA Director is going to probably teach the kids class and he drives Daughter nuts because he tries to reteach everything they've already learned and he's just not as good as she is. (MY judgment, not Daughters.) Daughter really does have a natural talent for MA. And I'm not just speaking as a mother. MANY people have told us this. Anyway, we'll work it out. We can't switch the kids until next year (Ha! Maybe I should say in another month or so?) so we're stuck for now.

Anyway, time to head offline. I have to be up and out of here pretty early tomorrow. I hope y'all had a lovely Wednesday. I wish a sensational Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba.

P.S. Could y'all please keep Eve (AKA Bailey Stewart) (Facebook Friend and hopefully a blogger again in the next year) in your prayers? Her sister is not in good health and not doing well at all. Thank you, B.

Pepper!

Pepper is adjusting to having the kitten around and I've made sure she's getting lots of attention. She's still The Baby. I even make sure whenever I get ice to play our game. She'd make a great hockey player. *g*

Today was the first day since Son became ill this weekend that he ventured out. No jammies for him today! I wouldn't let him participate in the class Daughter teaches, or in their regular class at the Pine Y. I even made a special stop by the drugstore to pick him (and us) up a drink and bought him some hard candies to suck on because he's been coughing a bit. While Daughter taught at the MT Y I went ahead and worked out. I wasn't sure if she'd have to teach at the Pine Y and wanted to be prepared. When we arrived at the Pine Y we discovered that the MA Director had talked to a Life Guard there who is a black belt in American Karate and he came in and went over kicks and punches with the class today. Son and I sat and read during class. The Black Belt is only 16yrs. old and while he is good, he hasn't taught much. And his style of Karate is different than what the kids have been learned so far. I honestly don't know what to do. This kid? He's nice as can be, but his MA is different. He said that he and the MA Director may take turns teaching the class, that he's not sure what the MA Director had planned. Honestly? I don't like the way the MA director teacher, neither does Daughter. There are only two places around that teach the very specialized version of Karate that the kids have been learning and one of those in one state over. The other? Is where the kids MA teacher studied, where we used to go Spar. However, we have reservations about how the Dojo is going to be run now that one of the former students is taking it over. Basically? They're young, their inexperienced in running a business and the kids MA teacher is supposedly going to teach there. We're looking at maybe switching the kids to American Karate. They may lose rank at first, but at least it would be a stable environment with a style that can be learned at many different dojos in our area. Right now I'm just not sure what to do. *sigh*

I forgot to mention that Chris and I decided to try our hands at making Chicken and Dumplings. I made the chicken and soup part and as the kids and I were on our way home this evening he made the dumplings. It came out well!

As for reading? I grabbed a paperback off the keeper shelves as we headed out the door today, Weddings Can Be Murder by Christie Craig. It's a reread, but fit in my purse and it was long enough ago that I read it that I don't remember every detail. Hopefully I can get by the library tomorrow. They have one of my holds in, a YA that Christine recommended.

No more from me. It's time to gather every one up and send them upstairs so I can take care of a few household things. I hope y'all had a terrific Tuesday. I wish y'all a wonderful and maybe slightly wacky Wednesday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8 miles stationary bike at level 10, 25 minutes weights, 10 minutes sit-ups.

Our Mini Tree!

This is the mini-tree we have on the kids bookcase (contains their schoolwork) in the hallway. The little tree used to be decorated as we went through our Advent Calender (we would have little ornaments behind the doors and who ever opened the door that day would place the ornament on the tree). However, the cats thought those little ornaments were awesome to play with and half the time we'd find the all over the house. So, we only put lights, beaded garland, a star and this year-jingle bells! *g* The light reflects off the bells and really makes it sparkle. *g* And as for the cats? They don't play with the bells, but one of two have been known to try and chew on the tree. Talk about dingle bells! *g*

A rather quiet day here. Son had a fever last night at bedtime, but it wasn't high enough to give him anything for-just high enough to make him uncomfortable. Poor baby. This morning he woke with no fever (Thank goodness!) and though tired and coughing, not as bad as yesterday. He's slowly getting better. Phew! Because he was still in his jammies and not feeling good today I made this week the kids week off of schoolwork. They watched a movie on the computer and the Out-laws came for a visit bearing fruit and candy. *g*
Oh, and today when I went out to feed the strays there was a box on the porch from Bio-Dad. It was kind of him to think of us and we'll be sure to enjoy the gift basket and petit fours inside. Son tried one and pronounced them yummy. He also sent a Christmas card and cards for the kids. They love that they received their own mail.
After the Out-laws left I headed out for Yoga. I left Son home with Daughter, though I knew Chris would be home within a short time after I left. And I didn't want to take Son out of the house this evening. Tomorrow I'll have no choice. Daughter is teaching at the MT Y and I can't leave Son home so he'll have to go, just not participate. While I was gone and before Chris arrived home the kids played on the Wii, so they had fun.

This evening after class I headed home and Chris and I made dinner together. We joked it was like a mini-date since the kids were in the LR on the Wii and paying no attention to us. We watched the Finale of The Sing-Off and the group that won was the group we were rooting for-Yay! They so deserved the win. We felt a bit bad for the group that came in second, but they were fabulous and should get some great attention from being on the show.

I stayed up later than everyone else and tried to see the Lunar Eclipse this evening, but we have cloud cover and I was unable to see anything. It (pardon my language) sucks. I really wanted to tell the kids (Or heck, even wake them up to see it.) all about it.

As for reading? I finished the Scottline book and have started reading the Sandra Bricker book. I'm a smidge annoyed at the interpretation of a Southern Twang, but am trying to get over it. After all, just because I'm Southern and don't have a thick accent doesn't mean that others don't and the book IS set in Georgia.

Anyway, time for me to head offline. I hope y'all had a good and low-key day. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 15 minutes elliptical at level 10, 1 hour "Flow" yoga.

Big Brother and little Sis!

Isn't this picture cute? Here is Midnight and Wicket looking at Daughter out of the storm door as she ran out for some reason or another. And yes, I see Daughter has no shoes on. *sigh* I try. But, really, look at the size difference between the two kitties!

Well, I had thought Son was on the road to recovery because he was tired when he awoke, but his fever was gone (I  checked on him periodically over the night and had to give him some Children's Tylenol at about 5am.) when he woke later this morning. He had a shower and fresh jammies and was hungry. He was okay during the day, we had to tell him to sit and rest several times, but he also didn't have his usual enthusiastic energy. He ate dinner (soup) and after we were ready to head upstairs for the night I noticed he was a tad flushed and he has a low-grade fever again. What is it with kids and fevers at night? Why can they be fine during the day and have a fever almost as soon as the sun goes down? Anyway, we're keeping an eye on him, but unless his fever gets high again we won't give him anything for it. (A doctor once told us that the kids shouldn't have anything for fevers unless they become high.)
Anyway, this afternoon I left Chris in charge and went to the MT Y where I took Zumba. We had a blast and even did the Zumba battle. It's funny how we only do that when Daughter is not there. *g* Just an odd coincidence, but still weird.
After heading home I ironed Chris' clothes for the week and made two types of cornbread for dinner (Chris likes white cornbread and Daughter and I like yellow cornbread. Yellow is sweeter than white.) We finished making dinner and afterwards we watched a few episodes of the first season of NCIS. We had a good time together and before we knew it it was time for bed. And that's when Son's fever returned. I'm going to be up and down all night checking on him and making sure he drinks something, so this is it for me.
I hope y'all had a Blessed Sunday. I wish a stress-free and pleasing Monday for y'all. (Wish us luck the Out-laws are coming over for a visit tomorrow. *g*) Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba.

A Growing Girl!

Wicket doesn't look quite so much like an Ewok these days. Though her ears are now bigger than her entire head. Her new nickname is 'Grizzly' because of the way she'll stand on her hind legs and wave her paws around. She is learning to, if not fear, have a healthy respect for the bigger kitties. And as for her health *knockonwood*, so far so good! (She hasn't gained that rolly polly appearance that most other kittens have, but she's not skin and bones, either.) I have never been so glad for a cat to have solid poo. *g*

Not a lot to report today. We gathered a bunch of donate-able items and had Chris drop those off this afternoon. As well as exchange the items he needed to from his mistaken purchases earlier this week. While he did that I took Daughter to her Teen Event at the library. Son stayed home with me while she was there. He didn't want to go anywhere today and I should have taken note then, but didn't. Before too long it was time to pick up Daughter and Son and I looked around the library as well. (Didn't find anything today, darnit.) We had a chance to look at a lot of different Gingerbread houses (made with Graham Crackers) and the kids did a great job. Daughter didn't win, but that's okay. Her house was cute and they were able to bring them home. We offered to help clean up (the place was a nightmare of royal icing, dropped candies and plastic bags everywhere-Yikes!), but our offer was turned down. The kids and I then bought some fuel and the headed home. Son at this point was rather pale and I took note of that. He also complained of a headache and was wanting to cuddle with me. I knew then he was getting sick. Daughter had a little money and wanted to go to the next town over to Marshall's to pick up a pair of headphones, so I sent her and Chris. Son became sick just as they were going out the door. I sent them along and then cleaned him up and popped him into his jammies and settled on the couch. We put in Christmas with the Kranks in the DVD player and he watched that while I made dinner (beef tips with carrots and onion with gravy over rice and cheese-y garlic bicuits). I also made up a batch of sugar cookie dough to bake later and sat and enjoyed the last of the movie with Son. Chris and Daughter arrived back home and we ate and watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (our favorite holiday movie). After the movie I made another batch of cookie dough, chocolate chip and baked those. We'll give most of the cookies away to the kids friends. When everything was done we headed upstairs and Son and Daughter and I played Rummy. Son now has a fever and I've sent him off to bed along with some ginger-ale and a bucket. Poor baby, he's miserable and I can't stand that he's sick. We think he has the flu and I blame myself because of everything that has gone on lately getting the kids flu shots was shoved so far back I totally forgot. At least we did get them changed over to a new Doctor. *sigh* In the meantime, my alarm is set to wake up every few hours and check on him. I'd really appreciate if you'd send healthy thoughts to Son. It freaks me out when he's sick like this.

As for reading? I'm almost done with the Scottline book. I hate that it's taking me so long to finish this book but we've been so busy lately that I just haven't had a good amount of time to read. So, I guess it's okay that the library won't get any of my other holds in any time soon. *g* Then again, the kids will get a week off soon and I am looking forward to diving into a couple of books then-if the library cooperates. *g*

I'm headed offline. I need some rest so I can check on Son. I hope y'all are healthy and happy today. I wish a restful and peaceful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Not today.

Taking advantage of some sun!

I took this picture of Layla the other day as she was finding just the right position to enjoy the sun streaming in through the windows. She'd just about found it when I snapped this picture. It must be nice to be able to find a sunny spot and sleep for a while. *g*

Well, the sun came back today and it was warmer than it has been in over a week. And oddly enough, rather than go somewhere today we stayed home and I cleaned like a mad woman after the kids schoolwork. I swept, mopped, vacuumed (even moving the furniture and vacuuming the furniture itself), cleaned all the bathrooms, and even cleaned the kitchen cabinets. Oh, and I also took care of linen laundry today. I joked with Chris once that I don't just clean, I commando clean. *g* By the time Chris came home from work I was tired. *g* However, I still helped make dinner and we had a nice evening, though all the repeats on tv are a tad annoying.

As for reading? Still reading the Scottline book. I know, it's taking me forever. It's not because of the book-it's me. I just haven't had the time this week and have let other things come between me and my book. I hope to take some time this weekend to just sit and enjoy the book.

I had planned to make some cookies today, but will do that tomorrow instead. I may even enlist Daughter's help! She's attending a Teen Event at the library tomorrow-they're making/decorating gingerbread houses and holding a contest to see who does the best job. (Though instead of actual gingerbread they'll be using graham crackers.) We're also going to be taking care of a few errands. I'm hoping we can take care of it all.

I hope y'all had an enjoyable and fun Friday. I wish an amusing and relaxing Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: None today unless cleaning counts.
P.S. For those who may have missed it on Facebook, yes, yes I did use Son's nerf gun to shoot at Chris from across the room as he snored. Um, four times. If it's any consolation he never moved and I later woke him up and told him to what I did. *g*

Paramedic Homeschool Event!

This is the nice lady that came and spoke to the kids today about being a Paramedic. She brought her backboard (Next to her) and all sorts of equipment. She also brought in the gurney from her Ambulance (which she parked out front and later let the kids go through). She hooked one child up to oxygen (the nose tube thing), she let one child try on a C-collar and strapped her to the backboard and she hooked Son up to the portable EKG/Defrib/Blood pressure machine. He had a blast wearing the electrodes and watching his heart rate and having his blood pressure taken. She even gave him the strip of tape with his heart rate. (And the child who helped demonstrate the nose tube was given that and the child with the C-Collar was given that.) She was informative and nice and answered ALL the kids questions (and for the first time since we've been attending one of these events there were A LOT of questions). And Daughter? Was very interested. She'll be old enough to take a First Responder's course next year and I actually think she might be interested in doing that. All in all a very good Homeschool/ 4-H Group meeting.

I feel like I've been going all day long! We left early this afternoon for the Homeschool/4-H group meeting and then had to run home afterwards to drop off the camera (no way was I leaving it in the car at the Pine Y) and then we headed out and ended up being 5 minutes late for MA. And much to my frustration the MA teacher didn't show. He hasn't been answering his cell and I texted him tonight and he never responded. If the boy isn't hurt I may smack him. I don't know what we're going to do. The MA director taught the 4-5 class, but he does things differently than the teacher (who was properly trained and a black belt) and to be honest-he is teaching the kids the wrong way to do things. I am so FRUSTRATED. I want the best for my kids and this is the second time in two years that at this time of year the kids have lost their MA teacher with no notice and no closure/contact. It ticks me off! I have been understanding up until now. I am patient and slow to anger, but now I'm just mad. Grrrrrr!

Anyway, Daughter had to teach the 6-7 class so were at the Y for three hours. *sigh* That was on top of the almost two hours at the library and not counting all the driving time. AND there is no heat in the dojo. It felt like a meat locker. I didn't warm up until we were home and making dinner.

As for reading? I am still reading Lisa Scottline's book, My Nest Isn't Empty, It Just Has More Closet Space. I'm really enjoying it, even though I'm only a third of the way through. (It's been a slow couple of days for my reading.)

And this is where I leave y'all. I am so tired my eyes are starting to blur. I hope y'all had a Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday. I wish a Fun and Fabulous Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8.10 miles on stationary bike at level 11, 25 minutes weights and 5 minutes sit-ups.

Nah, she's not spoiled at all!

We say that, but we know it's a joke. Wicket is turning out to be as spoiled as all the others. Um, maybe a little bit more so. Here she is cuddled into Son's arms asleep. She looks comfy doesn't she? This little girl has stolen all our hearts. My big guy, Chris, sat with her in his arms while she slept the other night for hours, just because she was comfortable. *g*

A rather dreary day here, weather-wise. The sky looked white and I saw flurries, only three (and talk about freaked out!), when I carried off the recyclables this afternoon. I don't know of anything else that is white, floats and melts upon contact other than flurries. But, I swear I thought I was imagining them the whole time. *g* I also finally was able to pick up my contacts this afternoon. Thank goodness I finally made it there when they were open!
Early this evening the kids and I headed to the MT Y for Son's KidFit class and my Zumba class. We both had a good time and when they were over we headed home. While I had a nice chat with Bio-Dad Chris made dinner. Later we watched The Sing-Off.  We agree all the groups left deserve to be heading for the Finale, but we do have one group that we are especially rooting for- Committed. If they don't win, there's something wrong.

As for reading? I've read a few more essays in the Lisa Scottline book and that's about it. I've been pretty busy tonight and I also was very bad and played Bookworm online for a while. I made Master Librarian before a burning tile and no vowels nearby did me in. *g*

No more from me tonight. I have Wicket asleep on my chest as I type and need to set her back in her carrier for the night. I also would really like to get some sleep, I hadn't realized how tired I am until now. I hope y'all had a Wonderful and slightly wacky Wednesday. I wish a Thankful and Thoughtful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 50 minutes of Zumba and the she killed us with 10 minutes of ab work! *g*

Pepper wants World Peace!

Well, maybe not, but she looks cute sitting behind the sign, right? *g* I'm thinking I need to find a way to get Oreo and Pepper to pose behind the sign together. It's like they want me to use these as Christmas cards! *g*

Another chilly day here. We barely made it past the freezing point not counting the wind chill. I've been wearing one of Chris' fleece coats since all this cooler weather started because I have one nice coat and one thin fleece coat that I don't like. He doesn't seem to mind, but I will admit I look like a big 'ol slob wearing it! *g* BUT, I'm comfortable and mostly warm, so that's what counts in my book.

This afternoon I had to run out and pick Wicket up some more kitten formula. I have to admit to being worried. We've had to give her water by medicine dropper and she's not been very hungry. Tonight, however, her appetite has picked up a bit and while I hope that means she's going to be okay, I'm also still watching her like a hawk. Some kittens who have the intestinal parasite she's been diagnosed with (Gee, thanks Mama Kitty Alice!) don't survive if it's not caught in time. We're hoping that we've caught it in time. So, please send her healthy thoughts.
Daughter had a Teen Writing Workshop this afternoon. She really enjoys these workshops and I know she hopes to keep writing as she grows older. By signing her up for these workshops we're encouraging her interests. She had a good time and when it was time to pick her up I also picked up another hold that had come in, Always the Baker Never The Bride by Sandra D. Bricker. The cover on this book has a beautiful patterned cake on it with a Baker figurine at the top. I first noticed the book on Amazon because of the cover and after reading the blurb placed it on hold. Do you ever look at a book just because of the cover? How often, after then reading the blurb, do you end up reading that book?

After picking Daughter up the kids and I headed for the Pine Y for their MA class. Last week their teacher said he'd be there. He wasn't. Daughter ended up teaching the class and I am becoming frustrated. I am not happy with the Y's MA program, but moving them to the teachers dojo isn't sitting well with me if he can't be bothered to show up to teach where he's committed now! And the type of MA the kids take is very specialized, so there's no going out and just finding another dojo. In no way do I wish to disappoint the kids, but I am not happy with any of this.
While Daughter taught class I worked out and then afterwards we all headed home. When we arrived home it was to find Chris in his chair with Wicket on his chest asleep. So, I made dinner and fed everyone and cleaned up. We then enjoyed a bit of tv.

And that leads to now. I have two good books to read and after a day of schoolwork, cleaning, polishing (there is hardly anything funnier than polishing the table in the kitchen and then having one of the cats try and jump up there and FALL OFF because they can't get purchase with their paws. *g*) furniture (And I'm nice, I warn the family when I polish the handrails for the stairs.) and all our other activities. I'm ready to get some rest. I hope y'all had a terrific Tuesday. I wish a Wonderful Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8.25 miles on the stationary bike @ level 11, 30 minutes of weights and 10 minutes of sit-ups.

Our Tree

This is our tree that the kids and I picked out and that the kids and I decorated. Isn't it pretty? To be honest, I didn't decorate much of the tree, I let the kids place the ornaments wherever they wanted. And I had to keep Son from using every. single. ornament we had. *g* Guy's/Boy's don't get the "less is more" concept I guess.

It's been a semi-busy day. Daughter didn't go to her Life-Guard volunteer/training today. She is still a tad congested and we thought it best. The kids and I took Wicket to the Vet this afternoon. We couldn't get an appointment, but I was told they would fit us in anyway. So, we took her in and Son immediately made friends with four dogs there were there. *g* Two especially loved him. *g* (He must have some kind of dog attracting pheromone because he's always like that, if there's a dog around he's being licked to death.) They checked over Wicket and discovered that she has intestinal parasites (Common and from her Mom.). She as given a dewormer and also she has to take an anti-biotic for the next ten days. The good news is that it's custard flavored. The bad news is that she's used the restroom more than ever since we've been home. Daughter and I are worried about her dehydrating because of that and are forcing her to take a tablespoon of water every hour or so. She's been very active today, you'd never know that she was sick. And she's been awake for a longer time today and has been active, but I still worry. And will continue to be worried until she's all better. We also found out that she was younger than we had thought. She's just now six weeks old. I find it fascinating that they can determine that just by her teeth.
And btw? Wicket does NOT like being in the travel carrier and going for a ride in the car. She would fling herself against the mesh of the carrier trying to escape all the way to the Vet's office. Yikes! She was very happy to arrive home from the Vet's office. I am asking y'all to keep her in your prayers-that she is all better-that the treatment works. We have all grown attached and love her and just want her to feel good and grow big and strong.
After arriving back home and feeding the bottomless pit of Son's stomach today, we headed back out to the library. A hold had come in for me, Lisa Scottline's My Nest Isn't Empty, It Just Has More Closet Space.  I can't wait to begin reading it. Her last essay book was fabulous and I just know this one will be, too.
We then went to the Y where I worked out and then attended Yoga. Our regular teacher wasn't there today, but we had a sub that has become a regular (She was the newly trained teacher that is also a student....). She did a good job.
After class I gathered the kids and we headed home. I had sent Chris to pick up stocking stuffers for the kids today, but I should have gone myself. He didn't listen to me and picked up the wrong things. He said he'll return the items and pick up what I picked out instead.

We had a simple dinner and enjoyed watching The Sing-Off on tv tonight. We really are enjoying the show. We already have a favorite group and so far they have not disappointed at all. The one group I thought would make it along side this one finally showed they just can't be diversified with their sound and were sent home tonight and it's too bad because they were really good. (I'm being vague on purpose-Melissa watches the show, too. *g*)

All too soon it was time to head upstairs and another night of Daughter and I waking up to give Wicket fluids. So, off to bed for me. I hope y'all had a nice day. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 6.75 miles on stationary bike @ level 11, (Had less time to workout due to library visit.), 1 hour Yoga.

Sleeping Little One!

This picture is from last week when Wicket decided to sack out next to Daughter. She was so deep in sleep she didn't even mind sliding down and while she looks squished-Daughter was very careful with her.

Another long day here. Wicket was sick last night, she threw up some water and that freaked Daughter and I so we woke at three hour intervals to make sure she was okay and that she had fluids we used a medicine dropped and gave her water-even when she didn't want it. She was fine the whole time (she only became ill that one time), but we were freaked out. So, today we have been keeping an eye on her. We boiled some chicken and have been giving her that today along with some kitten formula, but now she will eat the chicken and not the formula! (Seems I messed up there, dangit.) We were thinking she was fine and we could relax until this evening at bedtime she drank some more water and not ten minutes later became sick again. *sigh* So, tomorrow we're calling the Vet and making an appointment for her. Cross your fingers please that she is okay and that the Vet bill doesn't cost a bloody fortune. Please! By the way, she's acting like a regular kitten. Sleeping and then active and then sleeping and then active. VERY active. She was swinging from the door of her carrier/crate like a monkey not five minutes ago. But, at this point better safe than sorry.

As for the rest of the day? I rested! Seriously! Well, as rested as I can. I made dinner and ironed clothes this evening and earlier this afternoon I taped off the molding and unscrewed the switch plates and electrical outlets for two walls in the LR. See, about two years ago I painted the LR (by myself) and made it almost all the way around the room, but became tired that day and thought I'd finish the next weekend.Um, yeah, two years ago. (The whole thyroid mess began not too long after that and then my hands..... well, anyway.) So, I was determined I was going to finish the wall and a half today (Bio-Dad wants to visit soon.) I hauled in the paint (20 gallon container) and THEN Chris says he'll paint for me. Um, okay. He did a nice job, I just think it's funny that he let me get everything else done first and then volunteered to paint. See, he's feeling better today (He and Son have a great immune system.) and I guess he was finally feeling guilty over everything else this weekend. Whatever, at least the wall was painted!

Again, as for reading, nothing. *sigh* I was too busy worrying over the kitten (Making darn sure she stayed far away from the tree!) and I played Rummy with the kids and cleaned up a few things around here. I know I said I rested. And I did, as well as I can. The good news is I can breathe through my nose tonight! *g*
But, that leads to now when I am so tired my eyes are blurry and I'm still worried and stressed over Wicket and can only hope some sleep with help.

I hope y'all had a peaceful and restful Sunday. I wish a stress-free and pleasant Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: Not today.

A rare moment!

I took this picture the other day so I would have proof that I was seeing this. Patches let Wicket curl up next to her and nap. It was quite unexpected and very cute. *g*

It's been another very long day. Chris was not up to helping me shop today so Daughter volunteered. Off we went to WW to finish up the rest of the grocery shopping and by the library to pick up a CD that had come in from Hold for me. I now have a lovely Holiday CD to listen to, Enya's And Winter Came. I wanted the CD for her version of 'O Come Emmanuel. *g*
After taking the groceries home and putting them away (and taking care of some laundry) Daughter and I headed back out. We first stopped at Marshall's. I had an idea in mind for the Out-laws for Christmas, but I wanted to make sure that what I had in mind was a good idea. So I scouted out other things just in case. I didn't see anything, so we then went to Yankee Candle where I picked up a gorgeous pillar holder for my SIL and BIL. We then went by B&N where I picked up gifts for the kids stockings (I made daughter look at something else at that time) and a gift for Chris. Oh, and we stopped by Petsmart to look for a collar for Wicket because she's figured out how to climb the stairs and found her way up there today prompting a search for her. *g* We found one, though it was still a tad big. (We made a new hole in it when we got home and so far it seems to work, but we'll make sure she's not wearing it when she goes to sleep just in case.) We then went by Target. Again. My second time in two days. I found a stocking stuffer for Son and a pair of jammies each for the kids (a tradition for us) and I also picked up a few household things that were cheaper there than at WW.
After all that I was ready to go home. The traffic was bad enough, there were people everywhere (though some were very nice when I had a sneezing fit in WW. It lasted through three rows! *g*) (Yeah, the cold is still lingering.)
After arriving home and showing Chris what we picked up for gifts for the Out-laws and his Sister and BIL I sat. And sat. My energy ran out. I know y'all say to rest but there was no one else to take care of these things. No one but me.

Oh, can y'all think good thoughts for Wicket? I am worried that her brother and sister are so much bigger than her. Chris thinks I'm being paranoid and maybe I am, but they are twice her size. She eats well, though we have caught her eating the big kitties food a couple of times. And we're still feeding her formula along with dry food. But, her tummy was a little upset tonight and I worry. Son said she was chewing on the tree earlier. Maybe that has something to do with it. I just worry. Heck my Mom used "The Worrier" as my nickname. *g* And yes, she's as active and loony as ever. *g*

After we had a simple and quick dinner I put the lights on the tree and the kids and I decorated it. I think it looks lovely. But then, I would, right? *g*

As for reading? Nothing yet today. I've not had the time. Hopefully tomorrow will be slower and I can read and sit for a while. I hope y'all had a chance to read something good today. I hope y'all had an amusing and enjoyable day. I wish a Peaceful and restful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Can I count shopping? *g*

Oreo the Model!

Oreo seems to seek out the perfect places to pose for a Christmas card. *g* Here she is next to our Nutcracker behind our Advent calender. She stood there for over five minutes. It's as though she waited for me to get the camera and snap her picture. I thought it was funny. *g*

Attention! Whine-Fest Alert! You might want to skip to the bottom of the post. *g*
Whew! What a day! It wasn't frigid for a change and though I kept saying I was okay, this cold has hit me hard today, especially this afternoon and tonight. I am so ready for this to be over. We were joking with Son and told him we were going to tell Santa he'd been naughty giving us all his cold while he was better after two days. *g* However, I have to take care of everybody else. Daughter now has it and tonight she was miserable. Chris has it and is making me miserable. (Sick husbands should have to go stay with their Mom's.) But, we managed to get out of here this afternoon and after grabbing some fuel we headed to Target where I picked up small gifts for the kids for a Christmas Eve party we attend every year-Santa makes an appearance! I also picked up a gift for Chris. We're not able to do much this year, but what we are able to do-well, I know he'll love what I picked up for him. After that (and OMGosh, the traffic!) we headed to Aldi and the after that Sam's. I timed it just right, too. Chris was off of work just as I was putting the last of the groceries in the car and he met us at Lowe's. The kids and I arrived before he did and we looked around and picked out a Christmas tree and then walked inside and looked around still waiting on him. He finally arrived and I know he didn't feel well and I wish I didn't get so impatient with him when he doesn't feel good, but good gosh! Daughter and I were there and we didn't feel good, either. I just wanted to tell him to make an effort. And for that I am a bad wife. However, I held my tongue. And I am the one who carried the tree out to the jeep, who put the tree on top of the jeep, who started to bungee the tree to the jeep, who turned around and had to get twine from the most un-helpful clerk ever (he didn't net the tree, he didn't cut the bottom of the tree and I had to cut my own twine when I went back for it while he stood there and watched me. *sigh*). I then tied the tree to the jeep and we all headed for home. When we arrived home I took the tree off the jeep, carried it into the house and placed it in the corner it would be going in. I then put away all the groceries, made dinner, and also took care of some laundry. I then took out the miter saw (can't find our hacksaw) and started to cut off a small part of the bottom of the tree so it would be able to absorb water. Chris took over at this point. I guess he figured he better help or I was going to kill him. I then made sugar cookies for Son who was begging for them, and had been since yesterday. After that I had Daughter help me hold the tree straight while I screwed the huge screws into the tree to hold it upright. (We have an antique tree stand, it was the one my Mom had.) After doing that and watering the tree I cut out a piece of cardboard to fit snugly around the bottom of the tree and over the stands water well so the cats can't get to the tree's water. Then I grabbed the vacuum (a daily occurrence with a real tree in the house) and after handling that took care of a few other chores. We'll decorate tomorrow evening, we let the tree "fall" open before adding the lights and ornaments. When heading upstairs I asked Chris who took care of me when I was sick because I was exhausted.
As for reading? Heh. Not today. I did finish the other Shelly Laurenston book I was reading and hope to begin the Jeff Dunham book either tonight or sometime this weekend. It's funny. It's sitting right on my bedside table and yet I can't help but wish one of my other holds had come in first just because I'm not quite in the mood for a memoir. Oh, well. beggars can't be choosers.
And now? It's time for me to try and get some sleep, sitting up because darn it, I can't breathe through my nose. I wish an amusing and delightful Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Can I count the whole day? Oh, well. *g*
I hope y'all had an excellent Friday. I wish a

Pepper and Wicket!

This picture is for Dru! *g*
Pepper looks thrilled, doesn't she? Wicket is just so curious about the big kitties, especially the ones that sit next to my chair and follow me around. Oreo WILL play with her and Midnight cleans her like a good big brother. She's fascinated by Fireball but he looks through her and so she thinks because Midnight likes her that Pepper should too! Ha! They got into a (non hurting-soft taps) slap fight for a few seconds tonight. *g*

I'm thinking Son mutated this cold virus. And tonight Chris has it. I kept telling him not to kiss me! *g* I lost most of my afternoon grabbing the storage container of my mom's pictures down from the attic and going through it this afternoon. I did this because I promised Bio-Dad to try and find some pictures of when I was growing up after mom stopped contact. And I noticed something. I've been telling Bio-Dad that mom wasn't a happy woman. And from the memories I have from about 5th grade on she wasn't. However, I found many pictures of her smiling and laughing, too. (Along with the ones of unsmiling times I remember.) Somewhere along the way she became very unhappy and couldn't get out of it. And I know she was manic-depressive, later classified as bi-polar. I just wish I had noticed. I know it's a lot to wish a child could have fixed, let alone noticed but I do. Because I loved my mother, despite her faults. I miss her so much. And I wish I had the chance to give her one last hug. One last kiss on the cheek and one last chance to sing Tura-Lura to her as I did the entire time she was in the hospital. Because while it was painful to watch her never wake and slip away, at least I'd have that chance that last to tell her I love her.
Anyway, looking through the pictures, I only found a handful to give Bio-Dad. Seems I started my not -letting-pictures-be-taken-of-me thing around Jr. High. *g*
That ate up way more time than I had anticipated and we were a few minutes late leaving for MA class. We ended up being about 5 minutes late for class and I was not comfortable with that. However, seems we weren't the only ones late today, so it worked out alright. I went on and worked out and the MA teacher taught the class. Funny enough, he kept asking Daughter what positions of the kata he was trying to teach because he didn't know them. THEN WHY WAS HE TEACHING? Personally? I think he is feeling a tad insecure and showed up that a fifteen year old girl know more than he did and is only one belt rank away from him. (And she EARNED hers, while he chose the ability to skip a belt-can only be used once.) All this? Between the "working through the pain" and today? Just confirms my decision to move them to the other dojo after the first of the year. I don't know where we'll find the extra funds to do it, but we want what's best for our kids and it's becoming obvious that with the MA insisting on teaching, though he doesn't have the correct techniques and hasn't actually attended a class himself in 6 months, well....
As for reading? I'm still on the other Shelly Laurenston book. I hope to begin the Jeff Dunham book soon. And seriously hoping the library gets in more of my Holds soon.
Oh! We saw "Alice" Wickets mom today on the porch eating the food we put out for the strays. She had two of her other babies with her and they were twice Wickets size. I really do think she was the runt of the litter. And Alice took her kittens away with her when she left. Maybe she left Wicket here on purpose because she knows we're kind to kitties?

No more from me. It's late and I need to gather Chris up and send him to bed. *g* I also need to finish some laundry and make out a menu before grocery shopping tomorrow. I hope y'all had a sensational day. I wish a Fun and Fabulous Friday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 8.10 miles on stationary bike @ level 11, 25 minutes weights and 5 minutes sit-ups.

Wicket, again!

Here is Wicket, trying to be like the big kitties and stretch across the scratcher. However, she's just not big enough to cover it like the big kitties! *g* We've noticed that her legs are growing a bit, but other than that she's not growing much. She's still very small and  needs to have kitten formula.

Again another cold day here. I don't mind them as long as I can bundle up. After schoolwork and some other household things we left this afternoon and went by the library. A hold had come in for me, Jeff Dunham's All By My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed and me. Chris and I are fans of Dunham's comedic acts with his "Suitcase Posse". *g* He rightly deserves his Entertainer of the Year award. Though I must warn you, sometimes his act can be a bit, um Adult.
After that we went by the Eye Doc. I tried to stop by yesterday to pick up my contacts that had come in, first checking the website for the office hours. However, when I went yesterday they had different hours on the outside of the building. So, today I was determined to go by, using the hours posted on the building, and pick up my contacts. BUT, when I arrived today (half an hour before they were to have closed) the office was locked and closed. *sigh* I'm ticked. They really need to post the correct hours on the building AND the website. It's very annoying to go out of my way both times and not have them open.
After that wasted trip we headed to the MT Y where Son had KidFit class and I had Zumba. Our Zumba teacher even incorporated two Christmas songs into the class! Daughter stayed in class with me because a last month they redid the floors in the gym where they hold Son's KidFit class and the smell of the clear coat is still strong to her. And she was curious about the Zumba Battle I'd been telling her that we'd been doing in some of our classes. Unfortunately, this was one of the classes where we didn't do the battle. Too bad, they're really fun. *g*
After our classes the kids and I headed home and Chris and I made fajitas for dinner. YUM! Daughter and I have been craving some red meat for a change this evening and that really hit the spot. *g* Bio-Dad called this evening and I talked with him for a bit, but I don't carry conversations well on my own and I have no idea what to talk about. I usually end up talking about the kids or the cats. He has asked for some photos of when I was growing up, including when I was a teenager. I absolutely do NOT like myself in pictures and so I limited the number of ones I was in starting in Jr. High. There won't be that many to share with him.
Anyway, after dinner we sat and watched The Sing-Off. We really like the show. I have loved groups like Take 6 and Boyz II Men as long as I can remember, and was also in an  a cappella group when Daughter was young and performed on the Military base where Chris was stationed at the time.  There are two groups I think it will come down to and I wish to goodness there were two winners. But, knowing there can't be, we already have a favorite group that we're pulling for! *g*
As for reading, well, I'd already started reading another Shelly Laurenston keeper after finishing up the other last night. As soon as I'm finished with it I'll start the Jeff Dunham book. Yeah, I know. My reading tastes are eclectic. But, I read whatever interests me. *g* I once told Daughter I've read more books. in my life so far, than she could ever conceive of. *g* I honestly can't remember a time in my life when there wasn't a book in my hand or nearby. *g* Kind of like a security blanket. *g* Have you always been a reader?

Well, that's all from me. It's been a long day. I caught, or rather Son overshared, his head cold with me and I've been sniffing, coughing and sneezing all day with a sore throat added in. Fun times here! *g* I need some sleep after finishing my lollipop. Don't judge. *g* I hope y'all had a Wonderful Wednesday. I wish a Thankful and Thoughtful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba.

Pepper!

No worries for Pepper. She's retaining her title of Too Cute! I'm still showering all the kitties with attention, so that they know that even with the new 'Little One' we still love them. Look at that face! She's still "The Baby". *g*

It's been another cold day here. The temps aren't even making it out of the 30's, which is unusual for us in December. January yes, December-no. *g*After schoolwork today we headed out for our long Tuesday. First we went to the MT Y where Daughter taught class and I worked out because I wasn't sure Son would be up to a more strenuous class later on. Fooled me! He did well in Daughter's class and then in their class at the Pine Y where the MA Director taught. Daughter wasn't happy when he told her to keep kicking when she told him her ankle and knee were bother her. I'M not happy, but didn't hear about it until after we'd arrived home tonight. Her regular MA teacher tells her to stop and I will be ever so glad when he returns. (If he doesn't, we won't be staying. I don't like the MA directors style of teaching-nor do I like his inability to stick with rules during a tournament.) As for the Pine Y's dojo? They've been holding classes in old racquet ball courts (Old, OLD racquet ball courts) and during the summer it's hot in there because there's no AC, but we dealt with it. But, now? The heat pump has died and it was cold as ice in there tonight. And no, they won't be fixing any of these things because ground has been broken on a new Y to be completed late next year. Since I had already worked out I sat in the doorway and my fingers turned purple it was so cold! It took forever for me to warm up after we arrived home. Brrrr!
We didn't get home until 8pm tonight and then a quick dinner before sitting for a few minutes. I've buzzed Chris' hair and taken care of some laundry and am ready for snuggling under my duvet so I can finish the last few chapters of the Shelly Laurenston book. *g*

And so I head off..... I hope y'all had a Terrific Tuesday and stayed warm! I wish a Wonderful Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 8.25 miles on stationary bike @ level 11, 25 minutes weights.

Layla looks weirded out!

This is the look Layla was wearing when Chris was making expresso the other evening and let steam go from the steamed milk thing. A few of the other cats were freaked out and ran from the room, but Layla sat there with this look on her face. Kind of a " you can stop now".

Today was a comforting return to routine. Well, almost. Because Daughter fell a bit behind last week as well I decided until she was caught up with her 3 essay questions for a test, that she could not attend her volunteer life-guard training at the Pine Y. Funny what a good motivator that was.
Son woke stopped up today with a runny nose added in and while he acted like he was fine, I've kept my eye on him today. Son is like me, if he's sick he still does whatever needs to be done unless he's REALLY sick. But, he acted as if everything were normal, except for the runny and stopped up nose. I attributed it to the heat being on so much in the house this weekend (until this evening). Daughter had four nose bleeds this weekend due to the heat and I suggested she keep some water in her room so she now has a huge bucket of water in her room. It works to add a small amount of moisture to the air without using a humidifier. And she was without a nose bleed last night.

After schoolwork this afternoon (and after taking care of laundry and picking up around the house, why is it so hard to wipe down the counters if you fix something on it? I'll never understand why I'm the only one to wipe down the counters on a regular basis.) we headed to the MT Y so I could work out and attend Yoga class. Son went to childwatch and Daughter sat in the lobby and read while I worked out and then she came and sat in Yoga class with me. She didn't attend this time because she didn't feel like it, but tells me she'll attend next week. Uh-huh, we'll see.
After class I packed up the kids and we headed home. Chris made dinner tonight, his famous chicken fajita quesadillas! So good! We watched The Sing-Off this evening. We enjoyed it a lot the last time it was on the air, so we're hoping we like this season as much. So far so good! As the night wore on Son was okay, but at bedtime his eyes were tearing up and I had to give him something for his runny and stopped up nose. Poor sweetie. I'll be keeping a close eye on him.

Oh, as far as my reading I finished the Rachel Gibson book. I'm now reading another of my keeper's, Beast Behaving Badly by Shelly Laurenston. I don't know what it is about her books that make them so readable and rereadable, but I am never disappointed and am always happy when reading one. *g* Is there an author like that for y'all?

This is where I head offline. It's late and I'm tired. It's been frigid here today (for us) and I want to snuggle under my blanket and get some sleep. I hope y'all had a pleasing day filled with good friends and good books. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 7.25 miles on the stationary bike, 1 hour Yoga.

Oreo poses!

I swear to you that I did not pose Oreo in front of this sign. As a matter of fact, this sign is one of 'prizes' we won at the Christmas party Friday night. And I had just placed it on the table the evening before. But, Oreo has already take to standing right beside and behind the sign whenever she's on the table. I wonder if she can read? I did joke with Chris that this would make a fabulous Christmas card! *g*

I wish I could say I've accomplished a lot today. But, yesterday wore me out so badly that by the time I went to bed last night I was so tired I was dizzy. And I slept for almost 9 hours. I never do that! And when I woke today I was still drained, so I took it easy today.
As for the day after the meeting? Well, my head is no clearer than it was last night. I am still very confused over everything. He was very kind and nice and so was she. And yet, I still wonder why? Maybe I just don't know how to feel? I am glad he wants to know me. And it's too late to be angry with my mother over making a seven year old child form a decision that kept us apart all these years. I guess I don't know how to feel. After all, the man who raised me, my Dad? He seems to have no trouble pretending I no longer exist. The only family I've had for the past few years has been the kids and Chris and the Out-laws. I guess I should just let it go and see where things go. He still seems interested in visiting and knowing us. That's either a start, or a finish. Time will tell.
As for today? Chris ran a couple of errands for me. One of which was to take two boxes of books to donate to the library. And another was to purchase a Sunday paper. Usually we read the paper online, but I knew (thanks to facebook-go figure!) that Purina would have a coupon in todays paper. *g* He also put out some Christmas lights in the front yard. Our front bushes are now lit up as well as the outline of the bush bed. I need to find a good deal on some garland and then we'll be done as we decorate the outline of the front door.
While Chris was doing all that, I took care of laundry and picked up around the house and mostly just read the paper and relaxed. Oh, and I wrapped the kids gifts. Of course I ended up somehow cutting my left pointer finger at the middle joint with the scissors I was using. I had to have Chris take a look at it because it was bleeding quickly. And so have been wearing a nice band-aid all night. *g* Chris also said we have to add the scissors to the list of items I should stay away from. The first being steak knives and now scissors. I should have used Son's safety scissors! Oh, well.
As for reading? I am waiting on some library books and have picked an old Rachel Gibson to read in the meantime, Sex, Lies and Online Dating. I remember most of the book, but it's still a good read.

That's all from me tonight. A big jumble of a post. Sorry about that! I hope y'all had a Peaceful and restful Sunday. I wish a low-key and pleasing Monday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Took it easy today. Back at it tomorrow.

Wicket explores!

I took this picture on Thursday when we had some lovely sun streaming through the windows. Wicket was exploring the LR and found the kitty toys and kitty furniture. She really likes the combo cat scratches/play swirl. She's the only kitty we have that can walk under one side and not have to lay on the floor or scrunch under. And odd enough, she's the ONLY kitten we've ever had that loves catnip. And as I type all this she's asleep at my hip. *g*

It's been an amazingly stressful day. I couldn't sleep last night after the Christmas party. Because today was the day I was to meet and have lunch with my Biological Dad and his sister, my Aunt. The drive from our house to the restaurant we chose was a grand total of two minutes and on the way I started to freak out and feel light headed. I wanted this to go well so badly and I was so scared he wouldn't like me. (Especially since I look SO much like my Mother, I thought that might make things uncomfortable.) He brought me flowers. I'm not much shorter than he is. He's one of those who, after seeing pictures of when he was younger, looks better older. He was kind and seemed fascinated by me which made me a bit self-conscious. And when I get extremely self-conscious I do one of two things. I shut down and don't talk, or I jibber jabber endlessly. We took the kids and that helped. They adored the kids and thought Son was hilarious. They liked Chris, too. Though Chris barely spoke a word. He pulled my usual gig. We had lunch and sat and talked and talked and talked and before I'd realized it four hours had passed. He brought me pictures of him and my Mother and it is truly freaky how much I look like her. Which he didn't seem to mind. I made sure to ask if the trip to see me had caused any issues within his family and was assured it didn't. So, that's good. I also found out my love of animals and empathy for and actions to rescue animals seems to be genetic as both have rescued animals in their homes.
There's more, but being "On" for four hours has drained me. That's why I wasn't online at all earlier today.
After the meeting Chris and the kids and I headed home and Chris looked over all our outside lights to be placed out tomorrow. We played with the kitten and fed her and waited for her to fall asleep again before leaving to run errands. We went to Lowe's to see of they had a glass cover for one of the lights on the ceiling fan downstairs as a replacement because Chris accidentally broke one of ours. We'll find out on Monday! We had fun looking throughout the store and enjoyed playing with the power tools. *g* We then headed by Target to pick up Son a new mechanical pencil that he uses and likes, but that two of them broke in one week recently.
And then we headed home. It was late at this point so we had a small dinner. And this is where I leave y'all because I am about to drop-literally. I am out of energy. I hope y'all had an amusing Saturday. I wish a Peaceful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Can I count the walking around in Lowe's and Target?

Athena the Mysterious!

I know I don't post many pictures of Athena. But, that's not my fault. Athena tends to be one of those cats that stays alone and seeks out attention only when SHE wants it. When we go downstairs she stays upstairs and vice versa. Strangely, we see more of her in the cooler months than the summer months. She does adore Son, Daughter and Midnight. She won't leave Son alone in the morning when it's time for him to wake up. She wants her attention and will bug him until he gets up and gives it to her.

Not much to today. While the kids tackled schoolwork I made brownies, took care of some laundry, wired some bells on my wreaths for the carriage lights on either side of the garage and polished/dusted the furniture. Not much to the day, but it worked out okay because it meant that I went no where this afternoon. That's become a rarity these days.
Chris arrived home this evening and he and I headed out to attend his co-workers Christmas party. It was interesting. Every single person he works with is as twisted as he is! (Humor-wise. *g*) There was a smorgasbord of food. We took the sausage balls and brownies I told y'all about and there was also a fruit tray, two different italian dishes provided by the Hosts, crackers, salami, cheeses, olives, chips and dips,  an odd apple salad with snickers (yes, the candy bar) cut up and mixed with the apples and cool-whip (I was too chicken to try this one, but it received rave reviews from anyone who did try it) another odd salad with spinach leaves and strawberries and pine nuts (since I abhor pine nuts I avoided this one), cookies, french bread, garlic knots and a few other things along with drinks (A LOT of alcohol-we stuck with water and coke respectively. Y'all know I can't drink-the whole allergic thing and Chris just doesn't. I don't know if it's in deference to me or whether it's because he just doesn't care for it.)  We played a few party games. One was to take a sheet of paper and make a tree with it behind your back. Chris won! (It truly looked like a tree!), Two Truths and One Lie and one that goes by many names but I know by Chinese Auction. We had a good time and stayed way later than we thought we would. Daughter babysat for us and the house was standing when we returned. However, we won't be making a habit out of her babysitting for us. We just don't want to take advantage of her. We had a good time and though I didn't speak much, everyone was very nice.

And now, when I should be exhausted, and am, I am sitting here freaking out over tomorrow. I haven't sent my Bio-Dad any pictures, but did warn him I looked freakishly like my Mom. I haven't told him the kids are going to be with us (MIL's idea) and I have this fear that I am not going to be what he expected, for the worse. I already have an irrational fear of being disliked (by anyone), this is 100 times tougher. So, I ask please, that you cross your fingers for us.

As for reading? I haven't had a chance today. I had too much nervous energy to sit still for long (hence all the hands on activities today). The nerves were for the party and NOW they're for the meeting tomorrow. *sigh*

Anyway, I hope y'all had a delightful Friday. I wish an amusing and light-hearted Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: I cleaned the heck out of my house, but I don't count that. Hopefully tomorrow or Sunday I'll get some more exercise.
