Oreo reclines on the kitty couch!

Oreo likes this little currogated cardboard couch I bought for the kitties a couple of months ago. It's been more popular with the kitties than I expected it to be. Cats are a weird bunch. They would rather play with with the seal off the gallon of milk, than with a toy we buy them! *G*

Today has been a long day of errands. We had to return and exchange the vacumn cleaner the Out-laws so generously bought us earlier this week. Son was in awe of how a certain part worked and um, broke it. I look at it this way, if a six year old can break it, it was weak to begin with. (Maybe a crack we didn't know about.) But, we liked the model they gave us so much, we just exchanged it for another of the same. And I will keep an eye on Son around the vacumn. *G*
We also headed to the library today because Scream For Me by Karen Rose was in on HOLD and I have been impatiently waiting for this book for what felt like forever, but which was actually about 3 weeks. *G*
After that we headed to Ulta, a make-up/hair product/perfume-ish store. I don't know quite how to explain it. I was on the look-out for a facial sponge made by Buf-puf. AND THEY HAD IT! YAY! I have never seen so many colors of nail polish in one place in my life! It was a cool and yet scary store. Especially considering I don't wear make-up. *g*
Then there was a trip to Whole Foods to pick up some Nann and cucumber dip for grilled chicken this weekend. AND they had a salve for Layla's skin to try. Wish us luck.
*sigh* There were more stops after that. Nobody said it wasn't a looooooong day. *G*
After Whole Foods we went to WW where we did grocery shopped and after that to Bloom where we picked up salads for dinner (because it hit 90 degrees here today, not hot foods today, thanks) and colas because they were on sale. And then? Home! Blessed home where I could take my shoes off and sit down and relegate the kids to the other room because by this time they had driven Chris and I, both, batty. (I didn't mention the trip by the computer store to see if they had a case for the kids old hard drive because it wasn't the hard drive that was bad, it was the Motherboard.)
I have only had a chance to read the first chapter of Scream For Me. *pout* I hope to rectify that at bedtime. Which is fast approaching. *G*
I hope that y'all had a lovely day today. And I wish a peaceful and relaxing Sunday for y'all tomorrow. Goodnight and Love, Brandy

Exercise: Sorry. I feel guilty but I've been go-go-going ever since I woke up today!

Midnight the handsome goober!

Isn't Midnight a handsome fellow? Have I mentioned how very sweet he is? How he will flop on your chest no matter what you're doing, being it reading or on the computer or just watching tv? And have I mentioned that he is a big 'ol bully to the other kitties? He thinks he's "the" big man in the house. HAHAHAHHA! Athena is the only one who lets him get away with some of this, because she adores him. Anyway, because he's so sweet, yet sometimes so very dumb, we call him a Goober. *G*
I felt better today! YAY! I did sleep hard and ended up having to wear my stupid wrist thing today for a while. But it was way better than yesterday. AND BAMM called, my other two books ordered came in and Chris picked them up this evening. So, as soon as he gets home I will have Not Another Bad Date by Rachel Gibson and Beg For Mercy by Toni Andrews. AND *G* the library called this afternoon and Scream For Me by Karen Rose is in on Hold for me! I get to pick it up tomorrow.
I didn't do much today. I did run to WW and picked up a few essentials until I make out a menu and grocery list for the next couple of weeks. I shouldn't have done it, though. Stupid pollen. I've been dizzy ever since.
I have been trying to read the Melanie Jackson book again. *sigh* It isn't helping that I keep setting it down. *g*
Also, just to let y'all know, Blogger is having hiccups or something this evening and I can't get my comments to open up from yesterdays post. So, I WILL reply as soon as I can. I'm not ignoring anyone.
Nothing else to share, I'm sorry. It's been one LOOOONG, boring day here. I hope that y'all had a bit more excitement and a smile filled day. I wish a delightful and laugh filled day for y'all tomorrow. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: Not yet. The whole echo thing with the head is holding me back. I'll try before bed. Scratch that, headed to bed with a lovely sinus headache. *sigh*

Does he look impaled to you?

Seriously, the way Tiger has wound himself around the bench on the backporch, looks like he's been impaled by the bench leg! As y'all know I am a huge proponent of keeping kitties indoors, but that's just not possible with Tiger, who adopted us shortly after we moved in. The other cats hate him. But, it's almost comical in the way they do. Layla tried to attack him like a one-armed bandit and the boys follow him around and aggravate him. But, he is still part of the family. *G*
Y'all know how I have been go-go-going all week? Sunday-hiking, Monday-cleaning frenzy, Tuesday-TurboKick and Wednesday-Yoga? Today my body said STOP! No joke. I've had zero energy all day. And yes, staying up late to read the book I got from the library yesterday may not have been my smartest move, but it's not why I feel like one of the walking dead today. *G* My brain has energy. Stop laughing, it does so! But, my body is sluggish. I. Am a Slug. *G* I still managed to do three loads of laundry today, drop off books at the library and run by the pharmacy for my reflux meds. Not bad for a slug, eh? *G* I also read another book this evening after making dinner FROM SCRATCH. (I can cook from scratch, I just like easy things better.) *G* Did I tell y'all I read From Dead to Worse last night? Stayed up a little late to finish it, but it was more of a 'couldn't put it down' thing than anything. There was A LOT going on in this book. But, the author did it and made it all understandable rather than jumble everything up. Oh, and this evening I read Turn Left at Sanity by Nancy Warren, one of the books I picked up from the UBS last week. It was cute.
I've also watched one of my favortie movies tonight. Under the Tuscan Sun. There's something about this movie that I can watch over and over again. Have y'all seen it? Is there a movie that y'all can watch over and over again?
Well, that's all from me tonight. I hope that y'all had a good day. One filled with light and laughter. I wish y'all a fun and happy Friday! Goodnight, B.
Exercise: No. I feel guilty, but took the day off. Back at it tomorrow.

Son camped out in our room the other night and I woke up to this. Isn't Layla and Son cute? I think so, but I may be biased. *G* I can't decide if she's trying to steal his pillow, or trying to cuddle up with him.

Today has been gray and overcast. It started to rain about 4pm. I didn't mind. We still need the rain here and it cooled it down a bit, which is nice. The hard drive? Yeah, wasn't what was wrong. Chris was right in thinking it was the motherboard. Poor kids, no computer of their own anymore. Something I've been thinking on and am not too disappointed over. But, I had to drop it off at UPS today to ship back. I didn't tell y'all that Sunday when the Jeep died, so did Daughters iPod Shuffle. She got it wet. So, the money we will get back from the hard drive will be spent on a new Shuffle for Daughter. I will replace it once. After that if she messes this new one up, she's on her own. She'll have to buy her own replacement after this.

I also ran by the grocery store, picked up some greek flat bread while there. So good with grilled chicken. *G* After that a trip by the library where they had a Hold in for me, From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris. I've heard good things about this book, most of them say it also has ALOT going on. The kids and I then ran home for snacks for them and then we headed to the Y for my Yoga class. I was worried for a few minutes. The lady that none of us like that teaches was in the room, but she wasn't scheduled. We thought they'd switched it around again. Nope, thank goodness, our regular teacher showed up. YAY! I had a good time in class and then came home and made turkey bean dip for dinner. It's another favorite of Chris and Daughter. *G*

Now, I haven't mentioned that I am SO sore today! *G* Turbokick is kicking my fanny for another day. *g* I'm going to try and make it to PiYo tomorrow morning. But, NO promises this time. I am happy with myself for at least trying something new, though.

I hope that y'all were happy sometime today. I hope that y'all SMILED today and if not, I'm sorry and send you a smile. I wish a speedy and pleasant Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Good Wishes, B.

Exercise: 1 Hour of Yoga.

Meet Ya-Ya!

This is a stray (we think) cat we've nicknamed Ya-Ya that showed up about a week ago. He's skittish and VERY vocal. Hence his nickname. (Short for Yada-yada-yada.) *G* Fireball detests him. Whenever Ya-Ya lays on the backporch, Fireball will ram the sliding door trying to get to him, all the while hissing, puffing up his fur and growling. Something we'd never seen Fireball do before. And Ya-Ya? It's like he laughs at Fireball. Eh, at least he's getting a good meal.
Today turned out to be very eventful. The Mechanics called this morning and it WAS the alternator, BUT they also noted that the serpintine(sp) belt that is attached to the alternator was showing cracks so that had to be replaced as well. Then they noted that the brake fluid was dark and sluggish as was the transmission fluid (and the last time we ignored them when it came to the transmission fluid the vans transmission went down hill after a few months). So, we had all that changed out as well. All in all it cost us $700. *sigh* But, before you question that yes, the Mechanics we visit have very good reputations as being honest and helpful. Personally I blame the previous owner for the fluids. If you own a vehichle you should take care of it. An alternator can go out at anytime. That's reasonable to occur.
Ah, anyway before I could pick up the Jeep today the Out-laws came over and FIL tore apart the vacumn. (I did tell y'all that it died almost 2 weeks ago, right?) I've been sweeping the carpet ever since because we really liked the vacumn and were hoping it could be fixed. But, that was a no go. Seems the switch went bad and it was connected to the motor. Know how I know this? Because FIL tore it down to the MOTOR. (He has cool repair skills! *G*) So, they felt guilty and bought us a new one. Nothing fancy but I can vacumn again! I am SO happy. As soon as we got home I put it together and used it! *g*
The Out-laws dropped the kids and I at the Mechanics where I left after giving them my left lung. Kidding! (Felt like it though.) The kiddos and I arrived home and were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the kids new hard drive (I told y'all that it may just be the hard drive after all, didn't I? Actually Chris won't know until he installs it. *sigh*) Cross your fingers. But, UPS must have been backlogged today because it didn't arrive before I left for the new TurboKick class tonight. The class where I got my butt kicked. First off, our teacher (my PiYo Teacher) makes my hyper six year old look like he's sitting still. And she's older than me, before you ask. The class lasted for 50 minutes and unfortunatley required coordination. Something I do not have. *G* I did try my best though. And that's where I left after class feeling like I had had y butt kicked. Good news is, I tried something new and the next class for this isn't until June 10th. *G* More good news was that the hard drive (and extra memory for Chris' Mac) were waiting on us when we arrived home. So, as soon as he arrives home he'll install them both.
After making dinner I have sat and watched a couple of episodes of NCIS Season 3. I adore this show. *G* I haven't picked another book out yet to read. To be honest, I haven't had the time. I hope that changes tonight before bed. Are y'all reading anything good right now?
I hope that y'all had a good day today. That you were happy and had something good to read. I wish y'all a delightful and stress-free Wednesday! Goodnight, B.
Exercise: 50 Minutes of TurboKick. OMGosh my thighs are screaming. *G*

This cat has to be from another planet!

Butterscotch is rather odd. I mean he is very sweet, rather skittish and has a look that seems to say nobody is home, if you get my meaning. *G* But, even I admit that he is rather handsome and sauve. Note the crossed paws and haughty look!
I woke up exhausted today. That probably has alot to do with what time we arrived home, managed to get everyone in bed and asleep. And then got up not much later than our regular time. To top of the being tired, my right arm has been aching today, from gribbing the door handle all last night on the way home I guess. *g* I tried my best to ignore it today and have done 4 loads of laundry, ironing, furniture polishing and bathroom scrubbing. It wouldn't have been so bad, except that I tend to not just clean, but attack clean. *G* By the time I was done my arm was still aching and my hand was feeling a bit numb. GAH!
I did have a nice chat with my neighbor this evening. Her husband has just left for a year tour, in Wisconsin. *G* He's Army Reserve, and a Medic. He and his wife have been very nice to us since we moved in and we'd assured the husband that when he left we would keep an eye on his wife, who has had multiple back surgeries, and was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia(sp). (They are both about 2o years older than we are and have grown children, but we really care about them.) She's such a nice lady and gets a tickle out of Son. *G* Who was his usual rambuncious self around her, something he doesn't do too often with his own grandparents!
I did read last night when everyone else was asleep, I was still to stressed out or wired up, to sleep. So, I started the Christie Craig book, Weddings Can be Murder. (And finished it today.) In this book we are truly involved with the plot and characters. Much more than the authors first book, which I liked, but which didn't seem to have as much heart as this book has. There was also a secondary set of characters that were truly enjoyable. *g* If you like mysteries I suggest this book. Granted it's not as heavy a mystery as a procedural(sp?), but to me that's a good thing! Now I just need to figure out which book to start next. *g*
Anyway, that was my boring, yet busy day. I hope that y'all have had a nice Memorial Day and that you remembered those that fought for our every freedom that we all seem to take for granted.
I wish y'all a smooth and fun Tuesday. The Out-laws are coming over, and I'm hoping MIL is in a good mood. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: No. I was exhausted, my allergies are bugging the snot out of me (Literally. *G*) and after all the things I did today, I was too tired. Back at it tomorrow, but since no Ruby at home rather than the Y.
P.S. I don't like to ask for things, but if y'all could send some good thoughts about keeping the repair bill for the Jeep down, I'd appreciate it.

The better part of our day!

Today started out lovely. The weather was warm and not windy. We explored the Blue Ridge Parkway and went higher than we ever have before. To be honest we went a bit farther than we meant to, but we were having such a good time. We also hiked many of the trails at the overlooks, such as this one. And Son did pretty well for a six year old. (His favorite part was when he had to potty and he, um, watered a tree so to speak.) He thought that was the coolest thing ever. Oh, these picture are from the Chestoa OverLook and we were around the 4, 000 elevation mark. (I left the camera in the Jeep and had to take these with my cell phone. *G*)
We had a wonderful time together today, laughing and joking and enjoying the sights, experience and just the lovely day together. We stayed up there a bit later than we meant to and when we headed down, we had no idea our evening was about to become a stressed out silent drive down the mountains and hopefully home. You see, my alternator on the Jeep decided today was the day to die. By the Grace of God we made it from NC to SC and 20 miles from our house before the lights dimmed, the meters wouldn't work and then she, Ruby the Jeep, shuddered up an exit ramp into the parking lot of a gas station and rolled to a stop into the parking space. I had said many prayers on the way home, over 100 miles of praying!, and felt that my biggest prayer of all was answered. We arrived home, safe. FIL came and picked us up and brought us home and the tow truck provided by our insurance company dropped Ruby off at our favorite Automotive Repair place. All in all it took us almost 5 hours to get home. *sigh* Chris and I are exhausted. The kids had a good time today and I think the highlight of their evening was watching the tow truck driver load the Jeep onto the flat-bed. (Okay, I admit, it was kinda cool to watch. *G*) I also think it will be a while before we head that far from home for a day trip.
I hope this wrap-up made sense. We are exhausted and I'm not sure when I talk that the words make sense. *G*
I hope that y'alls day was as much fun as ours, but I also hope that it was WAY less stressfull. I wish y'all a nice, calm Memorial Day Monday. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: I don't know the exact number of miles we hiked, but hey, we went hiking!

An oldie but cutie!

This picture was made a year ago this week. The brothers, Butterscotch and Fireball, are lounging on my entry way. Although, I have to say, Butterscotch looks particularly freaky in this picture!
Today was nice out. It was windy, but warm and sunny. I did what I set out to do and got up early and exercised! Afterwards I woke everyone up and got them moving. Daughters room looked horrid so I made her clean it before allowing her downstairs. Funny, she cleaned it up pretty quickly. *G*
After a bunch of other household chores we made it to Mass and afterwards to shoe shopping for Daughter. Because HI! My 13 year old Daughter now is wearing a 9.5-10. Yeah, you read that correctly. She's now a bigger shoe size than I am and is still growing. Good grief I hope she slows down soon. I can't afford to keep up with her! *G* We did managed to make it by Whole Foods to pick me up some Maple Butter, so yummy, and also Son some of their pizza. We also picked up a few other things, but I don't think y'all want to hear about our cheese selections. *G*
We headed home after that and I made dinner, which by request (from Chris and Daughter) was chicken pot pie, from scratch. I swear they are addicted to it! OOh, I forgot that we stopped by our favorite bakery too. I wish I knew how they made everything taste so good. I mean, I'm not a bad cook and I bake reasonably well. But, ooooh goodness, everything they make is wonderful. *G*
I started reading one of my books this afternoon, waiting on everyone else to get ready for going out. Want to guess which one I picked to start with? That obvious? Okay, okay. I did start the Melanie Jackson book, A Curious Affair. You know, the one with the woman who can hear cats talking. *G* I'm only two chapters into it, though. And I have noted that the author is um, verbose. But, I guess she's world building.
And there's nothing much else to share with y'all. Oh, almost forgot. Chris figured out how to hook the kids hard drive to his computer (which he should have done BEFORE he ordered a new hard drive for them) (*sigh* Don't get me started.) and turns out he can read the hard drive just fine. Which leaves the motherboard for the kids computer instead. FUN! Because it will cost AT LEAST $325 to replace it. For that much I could buy a new laptop for them! (I never said it would be name brand, but I digress.) I'm not sure what we're going to do yet. I guess return the hard drive when it arrives and wait a while. If it's not one thing it's another.
Anyway, I hope that y'all had a good day. I hope that y'all had smiles and fun and warm weather. I wish a peaceful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.
Exercise: 1 Hour Yoga this morning.

A funny pic of my furry sweetie!

I know I post alot of pictures of Layla, but c'mon. If you had this kind of material to work with, wouldn't you? And yes, she is tubby. Just not as tubby as she looks in this pic taken last week. We've noticed that Layla has started pulling her fur out again (or over-grooming as the Vet calls it). She hasn't been getting sick however, so we continued our hunt for a topical creme or lotion to put on instead. Until today. I noticed that she has been picking so badly in the last couple of days that she's now making sores on her skin. We had to give her the meds the Vet gave us and hope that it works. *sigh* (And she had been doing well, her fur had been growing back.)
Chris had to go in on a different schedule today for training. It makes no sense to me to sign someone up for 8:30am-5:30pm training when they worked from 2pm-11pm the night before. Poor Chris, he couldn't fall asleep right away and is now yawning like crazy tonight. *G* One nice thing about his having to go in so early, the training was finished at noon, so he went and had his oil changed and picked up 2 books from BAMM that had come in. Then he arrived home and we headed back out to the UBS, Best Buy and Steve & Barry's and JC Pennys. I found 3 books at the UBS and Daughter found a Jill Churchill book we didn't have. WHY had no one told me about Steve & Barry's? Especially knowing I have a growing teenage Daughter and am always on the lookout for reasonably priced clothes? EVERYTHING in the store was $8.98. We ended up purchasing Daughter a new t-shirt and pair of capris. And Chris a shirt. *G* They have the funniest selection of t-shirts I have ever seen, and many of those were retro. I definitley know where I am taking Daughter to buy jeans this Fall. After there, we headed to JC Penny where I picked up two t-shirts for $12 (I like this new trend of tagless tees.) to wear around the house and to Yoga. And after that we headed to Best Buy where we picked up the 3rd season of NCIS. *G* AND I even had a coupon! YAY! So we've had a pretty decent day. Although the allergies aren't letting up at all!
As for the books, I now have the two from BAMM:Weddings Can Be Murder by Christie Craig (I laughed like a loon through her first book) and A Curious Affair by Melanie Jackson (a new-to-me author, this one has a woman who was struck by lightening and can now hear cats talking to her. *G* How could I resist?) From the UBS I now have: Exit Strategy by Kelly Armstrong (new-to-me author, about a female hit-woman), Angel of Mercy by Toni Andrews (also new-to-me author, I almost bought this book last week at WW but put it back because I had ordered some, I went ahead and picked this one up because HI! It was a quarter! *G*) and Turn Left at Sanity by Nancy Warren (an author I haven't read in years, the premise sounded funny). And the funny thing is? I went in looking for a few books that they ended up not having, but walked out with 3 other ones I hope are good.
As for the promise I made myself today? ACK! GAH! NOOOOOOO! I broke my promise to myself. I've never done that before and feel guilty as heck. BUT, I didn't know my schedule was going to change today! I thought Chris would work longer! *sigh* I know excuses, excuses. Now I am going to have to get up early tomorrow and exercise because it's too late tonight (we didn't get home until after 9pm and I had laundry to fold and put away). All I can hope for is that all the walking around the stores we did counts. (Did I mention we drooled over just about everything in Best Buy?) I know I just bought my washer and dryer about 2 years ago, but they have dryers that can steam now. Just too, too cool! (I don't get out much, give me a break!)
And that's it. I am feeling better today, not as tired. I wish I could say the headaches are gone, but then I'd be lying and I try not to do that. (Okay, so I am a terrible person and sometimes tell the Out-laws fibs. You know the ones? Ex: Ooh, that sweater is cute! (When she buys me something.) And then it sits in my closet for a year or two before I donate it.)
I hope that y'all had a blessed day today, that your life was enriched by friends and family. I wish a delightful and smile-filled Saturday for y'all. Do something fun! Read something fun! *G*
Goodnight, B.
Exercise: No, you've read above that I failed and will have to get up before everyone else tomorrow to fit it in.

Oldies because they're funny!

These photos are about two years old. And yes, I still do this to Layla, but have forgotten to take newer pictures. You know you're cat loves you when she lets you do this to her! *G* These are her Yoda and Chihuaha(sp) impressions. *G*
Today has been warm, sunny and full of pollen. *thunk* That sound? Yeah, the sound of my head hitting the wall because Son's nose is still dripping, Daughter is still sniffing, my eyes are still itching and my head would feel better, if I could get it to fall off. *g* I've noticed on days I leave the house I get a headache within half an hour. *sigh* Like today. *g*
Son finished his schoolwork today! I am so happy for him. I'm going to have Chris make him a certificate to give him (after his last tests are graded) for completing First Grade. We did this for Daughter when she reached the same milestone, I just have no idea where she put it!
We did manage to get out of the house today. We went picked up the book on Greek Mythology I had on hold and picked up a book for Son as well as a movie on Lightening and another Disney movie, The Absent Minded Professor with Fred MacMurray. (I would have gotten him Flubber with Robin Williams but our library doesn't have it!) After the library we went to WW. I had my oil changed and picked up flour. *G* (Did that sound as odd to y'all as it did to me?) It seemed to take forever, but everyone was nice and courteous. When they were done, I had to stop one more place. A scary, scary place these days. A gas station. I still has a little under a half a tank, but I wanted to fill up before it rised any higher. I know all this isn't that interesting. It's just, well, I'm boring. At least I know it! *G*
I didn't cook tonight, either. I had a bad headache before we even arrived home and the idea of adding pots and pans, that make noise, did not feel like a good thing. I am such a bad mother. I made them eat *gasp* leftovers!
I finished Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair earlier today, so I picked up another of her books off the almost empty TBR shelf. (As in there are 2 more books. Those orders better come in soon, I'm starting to get twitchy.) I'm about a chapter into The Down Home Zombie Blues by Linnea Sinclair, and I have to say the premise is original! I may try and make it to the UBS store tomorrow. I haven't been in what seems like forever.
I hope that y'all have had a good day today, that there were good books involved! I wish a fun and happy Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.
Exercise: No. *sigh* I've been bad. Of course I've also been tired and have had a headache a marching band would be proud of. I WILL exercise tomorrow, a promise to myself.

Fireball wasn't Daughters only victim!

Athena was caught as well the other day when Daughter took out the elephant hat. We have the elephant hat, a Santa hat and a green derby for St.Patricks day, but I want a Top Hat. Any idea where to find one? *G* Yes, yes were are a tad odd. *G*
Today has been nice. Chris ran to WW today, his air conditioning had gone bye-bye, not a good thing here in the South, and he figured out that he could re-do it himself. Do I need to tell y'all how concerned I was that this wasn't going to work? He's not, um, well, great with engines. Computers yes, engines, no. But, he found a "re-fill" at WW and put it in this afternoon. And it worked! I was so surprised. (That I wouldn't have to take him to the ER. *G* (*Knock on wood*))
I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not, but Chris will also be starting school again soon. He's very excited and it's through a different college this time, one that seems to be more tailored toward his way of wanting to do things. So, cross your fingers! *G*
I still don't have any of the books in from the library yet. Bleh! But, I did request a new book last night on Greek mythology. The book by P.C. Cast, Warrior Rising really was very good and renewed my interest in mythology. One I've had for years. *g* I'm also still waiting on the books I ordered from BAMM to get into the store. Have I mentioned that I dislike waiting for books? (Darn library, too!) *g* In the meantime I'm reading Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair. Her books are hard to categorize, romance, sci-fi-both are involved. *g*
Son is still coughing. Not as much, but the drainage is still bugging him. He doesn't cough all day. More like in spurts. But, mostly when he wakes up. If it keeps up, he'll be visiting the Doctor. AND he's almost finished with his schoolwork for First Grade. He's excited! (So am I. I am ready for a week or two off. *G*)
Went to Yoga this evening and had the teacher that annoys us all. I'm childish and just have gotten to the point that when I see her walk in I have to turn away to grimace. And I'm not the only one. I feel like a bad person but she really just annoys me! I could choose not to go to the classes she teaches, but then I'd be punishing myself for a few petty feelings and I don't want to do that. Would you? What would be a politic and polite way to tell a teacher that she holds her poses WAY too long? I don't think there is a way.
And on that note, I'm off to make some cookies, or brownies. I just need something sweet. And don't worry. Out of the last batch, I only ate 4 cookies. The kids ate the rest. *G* I hope y'all had a pleasant day. I hope that y'all received smiles and friendliness wherever you went. I wish an enjoyable and happy Thursday. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: 1 Hour Yoga.

Layla in a cube, and my Rose bush.

Sorry didn't feel very creative tonight over titles. If y'all can think of a better one please let me know. And to be rather obvious, *g*, Layla is enjoying this cube! She never used to get into the kitty tent we had, but seems to feel pretty comfortable in this one! It also matches her eyes. *G*
As for the rose bush? I wanted to prove that it's blooming and looks lovely. I get the biggest kick out of the fact that it drives me MIL batty that I don't do anything to this thing but spray with bug spray every year and run over it with the lawn mower in the Fall. It's already as tall as I am and it's only May!
Today has been pretty low-key. Son fell asleep late last night after coughing for what felt like forever. And then woke up very early doing the same thing. Both times he triggered his gag-reflex and well, we'll leave it at that. He went back to sleep after a while and I let him sleep late today. He wasn't feeling to well after he woke up and says his chest hurt. Poor baby. I wonder why allergies are worse this year for all of us? Especailly for the kids.
I haven't done much today. My wrists have been sore, from Yoga and the mowing last night, so I've taken it kind of easy. I did manage to keep up with the laundry and ironing.
I also had a bit of time and started False Profits by Patricia Smiley, a library book I picked up last week. I like the characters "voice", which means I like the authors "voice" so far. I'm STILL waiting to have a copy of Scream For Me by Karen Rose to come in from Hold. AND I'm still waiting for the library to circulate the copies of From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris and Wicked Game by Jeri Smith-Ready that they have. I can see that they have the copies. They just haven't released them. GAH!
So, what are y'all reading right now? Anything special y'all are looking forward to being released?
Ooh, I have a question! Has your bank ever messed up? We pay our bills electronically and I made bill payments last Friday. After about 10 minutes I noticed that one of the payments I made, didn't match with the records I keep for payment, it was off by 10cents. So, I went in and made changes to the payment. Then, this weekend, the online bank was down for service. I checked today to see if the payments have been made and they paid the bill, TWICE. If I hadn't checked......... At least I don't have to pay the bill next month, but I'm still upset about this. Unfortunatley I wish this was the only mistake they've made recently. We transferred some money from one account to another last month. They tried to do the same transfer this month. Um, but we didn't ask them to. *sigh* WHY is it not just one small thing that manages to go wrong, but a whole bunch of them at one time? We're wondering if it would be better for us to tranfer our account to the regular bank rather than the military branch of the same bank, that we first opened the account with years ago. And a small clue? It's BofA. *g*
And that's it from me. The headache I have been fighting all day has been bouncing around in my skull tonight with little mercy. I think I'm going to have to break down and take something for it. I hoe that y'all had a Sunny, warm and happy day. I wish a stress-free and smooth wednesday filled with laughter and smiles. Goodnight and God Bless, B.
Exercise: Nope between the wrists and headache I have a big 'ol lump today. Back at it tomorrow! I promise!

Fireball loses his dignity!

Poor Fireball. Daughter decided to play dress up with the kitties last night and pulled out the elephant hat. Midnight went looney trying to get it off, Athena tried to run away upstairs and Fireball patiently sat and let her do this to him. And he's SMILING. *G*
Today has been okay, but not great. Son lost everything he'd eaten within a 24 hour period last night right before bed and then proceeded to sleep a very long time today, but it was troubled with coughing. When he woke today he seemed tired, but no fever and I decided to give him the day off and just to stay home this evening from the Y. But, like every other day for the past few days he's yo-yo'ed with his energy levels. He insisited on doing his schoolwork, he wanted to go sit on the porch and he wanted to go the Y this evening. So, feeling unsure but selfish, we went. He had a blast and seems to be feeling much better tonight. But, I have talked to him about not running around or jumping around. And no, it's not the flu and it's not a cold. It's the darn allergies, and drainage in particular.
After arriving back home, I rushed to get the lawn mowed. Chris was supposed to do it this weekend, but his allergies were bugging him, even though he kept saying he would do it. Then it rained all day yesterday and I learned it is supposed to rain tomorrow as well and I couldn't take looking at the yard anymore, SO. I mowed it. *G* And if it happened to be 8pm, well. So be it.
I STILL haven't been reading. There was such a brou-haha with Son last night, he was a lap baby and then getting sick. And today worrying about him and household stuff. I hope to read tonight at bedtime. Cross your fingers for me!
And that's all for today. It's been slow, yet not today. At least it reached 80 outside. *g* I hope that y'all had sunshine today and smiles on your faces and hearts. I wish a pleasant and lovely Spring day for y'all tomorrow. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: 1 Hour Yoga. AND I mowed the lawn. That counts, right? *G*

I wish I could share !

Here are the cookies I made. *G* Don't you wish computers had a scratch-n-sniff feature? *G*

Layla and Daughters Desk!

This is Daughters Desk. She is ecstatic to have a wide open space that is all hers to do her schoolwork on. In the corner is her collection of handmade teddy bears made by Vermont Teddy Bears. And right next to her desk is her laundry basket. ON her desk is her stereo and collection of snowglobes. *g*
The next picture is of Layla. Daughter took it. We all think Layla is her cutest when she's asleep, except no one can see her pretty blue eyes! *sigh* She's started picking her fur again. I noticed it a few days ago, which is why the search for a salve. I really don't want to have to give her the medication the Vet prescribed.
Today started out nicely. The sun was shining and it was a tad windy. Son woke up a bit warm again, and looked glassy eyed and very pale with purple under eyes. Poor baby. BUT, within two hours he was fine and running around and the sky had opened up and poured. I think the sideways lightening, high winds and torrential rains were a nice touch. *G* We had planned to go hiking again today. But, knew the storms were coming. *G* Every darn Sunday lately it has rained. *G* We're hoping for next Sunday, so cross your fingers.
Remember me telling y'all that I had to put the seedlings outside yesterday? That may not have been my brightest moment. When we woke up today the winds were pretty high. I had placed the little seedlings in the big container I bought yesterday, meaning to plant them today because I was busy with all our allergies, laundry and dinner last night. Um, like I said, not the brightest moment I've had. Turns out the wind knocked over the container and the egg carton the seedling were in went flying all through our backyard. Nothing was salvagable. So, want to guess where I went this afternoon? Yes! Back to WW for more seeds. *sigh* We found the Dahlias and an actual catnip plant with no problem, but they were out of Spearmint and peppermint. There was a "mint" plant, but ooh it smelled funny. Almost like eucalyptus. Odd. Chris is going to check the other WW near us (there are 7 within 20 miles of us. *G*) , the one near where he works for the seeds. In the meantime we planted the catnip plant and Dahlia seeds and placed it outside. Where within 10 minutes one of the strays we feed had mowed through it. We had to move it to Chris' grill where we hope they won't get to it. It was funny though, while Chris was planting it in the box, on the kitchen table (What? It was raining!) our kitties were all sniffing it, but what seemed to interest them the most was the dirt! They loved the smell of the soil! It was so funny!
I haven't had a chance to read today. Son goes from feeling hyper to wanting to cuddle, so I've had my hands full! *G* Add in more laundry, feeding everyone and now posting I still feel like I could have done more. Um, maybe why I decided to make chocolate chip cookies for the family. *G* (Not to mention wanting to treat them. )
And except for more laundry and cooking the rest of the cookies, I am done for the evening. I hope that y'all had a relaxing day. One filled with something nice. I wish a stress-free and a good energy level to deal with everything. Goodnight and Love, B.
Exercise: I meant to today. I really did, but it managed to get away from me somehow. Back to Yoga tomorrow, though.

A pretty sculpture near our home!

This is a pretty sculpture situated in an industrial park about 2 miles from our home. (It seems longer. *G*) Also please note the geese in the photo with baby geese! They were so cute. Oh, and the cool thing about this industrial park? It has gorgeous landscaping with sidewalks, trees, a pond with a fountain, and this sculpture. There's something about this sculpture that I really like. It is fluid and graceful, almost loving.
Today has been one big allergy attack for Daughter and Chris, and I have been suffering a bit since we arrived home this evening. *g* Daughter has not stopped sneezing all day. Her nose is stopped up and eyes are watering. Poor baby. Son is the only one that doesn't seem that affected, BUT he's been coughing since last night, all through the night and all day and evening today. *sigh* We ran a few quick errands this afternoon and then came home to stay.
We went by PetSmart today looking for a topical ointment that will help Layla, but the only one I found had alcohol in it (and it was a spray, who SPRAYS a cat?), which could irritate her skin anyway. So, I will be ordering the ointment I found online instead. I haven't given her the steroids that the Doctor gave us. I'd like to try something "safer" first. OOOOH, and the little plants we are trying to grow? Are starting to sprout. *G* I had to move them outside onto my porch instead of in my kitchen window last night. The cats (Midnight, with Fireball playing lookout) starting trying to dig them up! Stinkers!
We ran by BAMM today to see if they had any of the books I've been looking for, but no such luck. I did pick up the latest issue of RT magazine, though. (And I finished the P.C. Cast book, Warrior Rising. LOVED IT! Mythology has always interested me, so her Goddess Summoning books are such fun!)
After that we had one last stop to Lowe's where we picked up some bug killer, grass seed, a bigger container for the seeds we planted and a new hose nozzle. Oh, so interesting, right? *G*
And then, home. Where everyone is suffering in not so quiet, if you count the sneezing and sniffing. *G*
Nothing else to share, sorry. I hope y'all had a lovely day and enjoyed the beautiful sun and your surroundings! I wish a peaceful and relaxing Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: Nope.
Oh, there's a video below this one of a couple of the kitties!

Butterscotch and Midnight take a walk!

I have weird cats. Here's proof! *G*
Oh, and Daughter was the one filming this! B.

Oreo looks bashful!

Doesn't Oreo look quite bashful in this picture? Which is hilarious because this is one kitty that is not shy around us! As a matter of fact, we call her the kitty with an attitude. And joke that she is the kitty that needed Prozac. She has anger issues. *G*
Today went allright. I am not tired. YAY! And Son is feeling better, YAY! No fever for him, which made us all want to do the 'Happy Dance'. *G* He's not as hyper as usual, but still loads better today. Although, it's funny, because he told me this evening that he wasn't having a good day. Because his sister was walking behind him and accidentally stepped on his shoe. *G* He's so funny. And cute. *G* I made it to the library today and picked up two books: False Profits by Patricia Smiley and Mummy Dearest by Joan Hess (who I wish would do another Maggody book!). And I informed them that they had a book on my account that I had returned a week ago. She was nice about it and checked and sure enough, it was on the shelf. *g*
After that I took Son (with Daughter) to get his hair cut. I was tempted to do it myself this week but then Chris reminded me that Son drives me batty when I cut his hair. The stress is just not worth it. *g* But, while talking to the lady that cut his hair today I did find out that the older woman who was so rude to me last time no longer works there. Yay. OOH, bad Brandy. I try never to be happy at someone else's misfortune, but she was mean and deserved getting asked to no longer work there. Yup, you read that right.
Son looks absolutely cute with his now shorter hair. I can't believe it had been 5 weeks since his last cut! When we were done there we headed to WW for grocery shopping. FUN! WHY do kids ask for everything when in that store? Buy me this, can I have that......blah, blah, blah. *sigh*
We somehow managed to get out of there without leaving a kidney for payment (but, they did have a book that looked interesting Wolf At the Door by Christine Warren that I picked up, hey it was only $3!) and then went by ANOTHER grocery store where they make salads that 3 out of 4 of us enjoy. (Son had chicken and apple juice, sorry no veggies, he refused them.) I picked up 3 of those for dinner tonight because after all that, I did not feel like cooking! *G*
And besides laundry, that's all I've managed to do get done today. Last night I started reading Warrior Rising by P.C. Cast. I am really enjoying the book so far, the best friends she placed in this book are hilarious! I hope to finish it tonight. Then onto the library books I picked up today!
I hope that y'all had a pleasant Friday. That some form of fun or laughter entered your lives. I wish a relaxed and enjoyable Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: Not yet. Been a bit busy. Hoping to before bed. Cross your fingers for me. *G* UPDATED: A bit over 3 miles on the treadmill @ 6 incline.

Not exactly best friends!

Layla and Patches tolerate each other, but they are not the best of friends. As seen in this picture. It's funny really how many of the kitties don't get along, but yet manage to live together in mostly harmony. *G*
Today hasn't been much fun. I didn't mind the overcast, dreary day. I don't like that Son isn't feeling well. He's doing a bit better now, thanks to some Motrim, but earlier he was flushed, feverish, cranky, mauldin, and sensitive to EVERYTHING. I couldn't take him out to pick up some ginger-ale and didn't have anyone to babysit, so Chris got off early and picked some up for him on the way home. Son complained of his head hurting, too. So, a bit ago we gave him some Motrim for the headache (not the fever, we've been told that those should 'burn" themselves out as the bodies way of fighting whatever is attacking it, to a certain point anyway). He seems much better now and even ate something for the first time today. Cross your fingers it stays down.
I read the No Rest for the Witches anthology with MaryJanice Davidson, Lori Handeland, Cheyenne McCray, and Christine Warren. I liked MJD's story the best and would enjoy seeing those characters again. I also liked Christine Warren's story. After finishing that book last night I was a happy camper. But, I tried to read On the Line by Kathryn Shay this afternoon and couldn't get through it. There's just something about it I flat out don't like. If that wasn't frustration enough, I checked my library's website today and found that out of the books and movies I returned yesterday one book hasn't been checked in. Since Daughter put everything in the drop for me, I asked and she assured me it was one of the returned books. *sigh* But, to make sure while Son was napping this afternoon we tore the house apart looking for it, even checked the Jeep again. Nope. It has to be at the library. So, if Son is feeling better tomorrow I need to go check. I can't call again. It took a lot to get up the nerve to call yesterday.
No exercise today, either. I didn't want to disturb Son and also I still feel tired. Way tired.
And that's my day. Not much fun, but it's mine. I'm just glad Son feels a bit better. I hope that y'all had a nice day. That health and contentedness (It is SO a word. *G*) followed y'all. I wish a lovely, and stress-free friday for y'all. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: No. Too darn tired. Son sick. Basically a conspiracy of a bad day.

Midnight the scary kitty!

You wouldn't think the outcome on this video would be what it is. I won't spoil it, unless you can't see the video for some reason and ask me. I will say that Daughter and I were outside the whole time and that we would not let harm come to Midnight. The dog is one I've written of before, his name is TJ and he escapes from his yard on a regular basis. He wanted to play with Midnight more than anything. Oh, and sorry if the resolution isn't great, it's from my digital camera. *G*

I have been SO physically tired today. I guess yesterday was more than I should have attempted. Or it could have been the allergy meds I had to take last night to breathe while I slept. I did still attend Yoga this evening and had a good time. I always leave there feeling happy and relaxed. AND I used a suggestion from the other teacher about a pose called the "knotted ankle"(?) and did way better than I ever have before.

I started the MaryJanice Davidson anthology this evening, but have actually not been able to concentrate on it too much. I think I'm just tired. I may read some more this evening, but the weird thing is I was enthused to get these books the other day and now? Yeah, not so enthused to read them. *sigh* I have no idea why. Oh, and while checking my library account online to see when the DVD's we checked out last week were due, I noted that they had me as having 2 books I had returned last week still checked out. I had to call the library and tell them. She put me on hold, checked the shelf and sure enough, that's where they were.

Not too much else to share. Daughter is liking her new desk, although it was bigger than we had thought! The cats are enjoying trying to climb all over it. *G* I did take a personality test today. *G* It's based on the Jung-Myers-Biggs typology test. I scored as an INFJ. Meaning Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging. Which is pretty spot on actually. *G* It suggested Librarian, Law, Psychology, Counseling and Early Childhood Development as possible careers. It was almost the same as when I took it in HS! Back then, Military, Law, Police, Librarian and Early Childhood Education were suggested. *g* Have y'all ever take a personality test? Do you put much thought to their effectiveness? You can take this one HERE.

And that's it from here. I hope that y'all had a energized and happy day! I wish a laugh enthused and pleasant day for y'alls Thursday! Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: 1 Hour Yoga.

Athena, the scarcely seen kitty!

Athena is one of the strangest cats we have. She was a rescue and I don't know if that has anything to do with her not wanting to be around us, or if that's just her personality. She is very vocal, and isn't afraid of any other kitty. Now, the vacumm cleaner seems to freak her out the most. I was vacumming upstairs today and she shot out of Daughters room and I'm not sure she even touched the top step, but I know she landed on the landing next! *g*
Today has felt crazy and like I never caught up. Schoolwork went well and after that I vacummed all the floor and mopped all the other floors. During all this I did 3 loads of laundry and then the Out-laws showed up. (And just to re-inforce what I was talking about yesterday, FIL called Sunday at 1:30pm and said Hi and could he speak to Chris. He then proceeded to fuss at Chris for not having called his Mom already to wish her a Happy Mother's Day. Chris told him he was going to call but figured that FIL took her out to lunch and was waiting to call until he though they would be home. And no, even though I am the Mother of their only Grandchildren, they never told me anything. BUT, SIL sent me a card. I was shocked!) Anyway, they arrived with yard tools, shamrocks and Monkey grass to plant because for some reason the side next to my driveway that just has mulch is driving my MIL batty. *g* They did find out pretty quickly why we had left it just mulch though! The concrete from the driveway had seeped under the form when they poured it for this house and about 4 inches under the mulch they hit concrete. *G* BUT, proceeded to plant it anyway. I am leaving out all the HARD work it took to pull up the mulch, break up the "wire grass" that had been growing under the black weed fabric we had put down a couple of years ago, then rake it up. Then plant the monkey grass, and put the mulch back on top. Tired yet reading all that? Because I am! I've barely sat down today. Which is why I commented on all y'alls blogs so late. Sorry! I haven't even had time to work-out which is making me nuts AND I still have ironing to do and am making cookies because I wanted something sweet tonight. *sigh*
Oh, but to make it impossible to stay aggravated with the Out-laws they took the kids to get milkshakes this evening (Did I mention they were here over 4 hours?) and stopped by WW and bought Daughter a desk and chair. *thunk* Yes, we were looking for a desk for Daughter, yes it was very nice of them. See why they are the most generous and ornereous people I know?
OOOOH! And I forgot to tell y'all that the dresser that Daughter had, that we replaced with one that fit in her closet? Yeah, after 2 weeks of it sitting empty in her room waiting for Chris to help me get it down to the garage and calling Goodwill, I got fed up and hauled it down myself. That sucker was HEAVY! Um, and maybe it didn't occur to me to take the drawers out until I had managed to get it onto the landing? (All this right before the Out-laws arrived.) I'm still not sure how I managed not to damamge myself or the house. *g*
So, no time to read today. I can't even decide which book I got yesterday to read! I hope I'll have time tonight. Maybe. I hope. Then again after finishing everything that needs to be done I might just take a shower, climb into bed and fall asleep because I am tired.
Anyway, sorry to bore y'all with my day. I hope that y'alls was uneventful and stress-free, not to mention fun! I wish a sunny, pollen-free (that's the important part) laugh and smile filled day. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: I did everything above, please, please tell me that counts!? Please?

Look Ma! No hands!

Doesn't Oreo look like she misplaced her arms and paws? It's like they just popped off! *G* And the cats are smarter than you'd think. They know when the camera will flash and will LOOK AWAY! Stinkers. *G*

Today was busier than I expected. Chris had trouble sleeping for the first time in I have no idea how long. I don't think he's EVER had trouble sleeping. *G* But, he took the day off because he felt fuzzy from lack of sleep. There went my schedule. *G* I still managed to get everything done that needed it and then we all went to the next county's nearest library. (About 15 minutes from the house. *G*) While there I picked up: On the Line by Kathryn Shay, No Rest for the Witches an anthology with MaryJanice Davidson, Lori Handeland, Cheyenne McCray and Christine Warren, and Charmed and Deadly by Candace Havens. We also picked up The Cat From Outer Space. Oh, and I placed Scream For Me by Karen Rose on Hold tonight! I can't wait until it's in.
I dropped Chris and the kids off and headed to Yoga. We had PiYo again tonight and the teacher is very nice. She said she was shocked to hear I had a 13 year old, that I looked like I was in my early twenties. I don't care if she was serious or not, that made my day! *G*
On the allergy front, we're still dealing and rubbing our eyes. I've had a sinus headache off and on all day and Son seems the least affected of us all.
The Out-laws are visiting tomorrow. At first word was that they would be coming over today. Or rather, they told Chris they would be coming over this evening. Um, hi! I have Yoga, they KNOW I have Yoga. And they didn't care. Chris told them I wouldn't be here, that I'd be at the Y. *G* He stood up for me! So, they are coming tomorrow instead. Yay. And yes, I could have missed my class tonight, but number one, it's the thought that their wishes superceded my own and number two, I don't do ANYTHING else that is just for me except my class. *sigh* I sound like a whiney woman don't I? Sorry.

Chris made dinner tonight, so at least I didn't have to do that. Now if only he's take care of the laundry. *G*

I hope y'all had a pleasant day. I hope your Spring lives up to it's name! I wish an enjoyable and fu tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 1 hour of PiYo. I seriously like this class!

Midnight the big baby!

Midnight is the biggest baby! He loves crawling on someone and then flopping down on them. Even if they are doing something else, or even petting another kitty! *G* Here his is in Chris' arms, snuggled up like a baby. The big GOOBER!
Today was rainy and very windy. We were under severe weather warnings and some places around here lost power and had downed trees. But, we were okay. The kids and Chris gave me lovely (and cute) cards and Daughter cut some roses off my bush and arranged them in a vase for me. My mini-cake was delicious and as it wasn't any bigger than a cup-cake, it's GONE. *G* Chris has been doing my chores all day and it's been nice, but weird. The kids played outside a bit, but the wind became too much for Son and he and a friend came in and played in his room for hours. They had a blast!
I finished The Angel by Carla Neggers last night/very early this morning. *G* I enjoyed it and felt that although the relationship between the hero and heroine was fast, it felt real. The Angel is almost another character in the book and I have to tell y'all, if I were ever to see an Angel like the one described, I will run because just thinking of the events it precipitated makes me shiver. I picked up my last library book left this afternoon, but Visions of Sugarplums by Janet Evanovich is not holding my interest right now. Maybe at bedtime. I have a fine at the other library system here and will be paying that this week and then I will be able to see if THAT system has any books I'd like. The one near my house has YET to get in From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris. It shows in the system, but hasn't been released yet. GAH! Scream For Me by Karen Rose is due to be released this week as well.
Any books due to be released y'all are looking forward to?
I hope that y'all had a nice Sunday, a pleasant Mother's Day. My Mother passed away over 4 years ago and I still feel the loss badly on days like today. Instead of being able to call her and talk, I just look to Heaven, and blow her a kiss. Treasure the talks, moments and memories you do have. Ah, too depressing, sorry. I wish a lovely Spring-like day for y'all tomorrow. Goodnight and Blessings to each of you, B.
Exercise: Does cleaning out a hall closet and hauling big boxes upstairs to be placed in the attic count? (And no, I couldn't get rid of this stuff. It's schoolwork for Daughter and information that has to be saved for a couple more years.) Back to Yoga tomorrow, YAY!

An Oldie that's never old!

I simply smile every time I look at this picture of Oreo. It was taken before she was a year old, but she hasn't gotten much bigger than this. Unfortunately her patience has shortened and she won't sit still for a picture like this anymore. Oh, and that's one of Son's ties that she's wearing. *G*
Today was an exercise in time-management. *G* Mostly in getting the kids dressed and Chris showered and dressed for Mass. The kids both had to change clothes and for some reason Chris waits until the hour before we need to leave to take one of his famous showers. They are famous for being over half an hour long. I don't get it. I keep telling him he better learn how to shorten them up! After Mass we stopped by my favorite bakery and Chris and the kids bought me a mini-cake. *G* It's cute and I know it will taste fabulous. *G*
I DID start a new book last night. The Angel by Carla Neggers seems to incorporate a little Celtic mysticism in this book and I am enjoying that part. It is weird though because I just got through reading a book by Tess Gerritsen titled The Sinner and both are definitely a GOOD vs. EVIL type book. I'm almost half way through the Carla Neggers book and can't wait to see where it leads.
Tomorrow we are expecting major thunderstorms so we won't be able to go hiking like we wanted. It seems like it rains every weekend lately. *g* Oh, and we reached 85 degrees today! It was WARM. Oh, and I finally figured out today how to get in and out of the jeep in a lady-like manner! Not bad for a short lady! *G*
I hope that y'all experineced fun and laughter today. I wish a peaceful and relaxing Sunday to y'all. And Don't forget to tell your Mom's how much you love them! Goodnight, B.
Exercise: Not today. Maybe tomorrow.

More moth hunting pictures!

Here are Patches and Midnight trying to desperately find the moth. The funny thing about this picture is that Midnight stayed there, staring at a spot on the wall WHERE THERE WAS NO MOTH for at least 5 minutes. *g* Not the brightest bulb in the bunch. *G* Oh, and tonight? Oreo thought another moth had gotten in so she tried to climb the lamp and I wasn't paying attention and she knocked the lamp over onto my head. *sigh* It's going to be a long Spring/Summer.
Today was quiet. I still felt like I needed it. *g* It reached 82 today and I was glad when schoolwork was finished and I could throw, um, I mean send my children outside. *g* I used the time to start a book, exericise, finish the book, handle dinner, put up laundry and just SIT for a while. *g* I read The Brass Bed by Jennifer Stevenson. Um, it was weird. And hinky. And um, I'm not sure I was old enough to read this book. *g* That's your warning. Last night I read The Sinner by Tess Gerritsen. I think of all the books by her I've read lately, I like this one and The Surgeon the best. And I'm sure I'll be picking up yet another book before I go to bed. *g*
I can tell y'all that the seed experiment is going well. I made the mistake of pulling the blinds up above the wells today instead of over them and open and I was only gone upstairs for 10 minutes before I came back down to a bit of dirt on my window sill. It seems the kitties were curious. *g* I fixed the blinds where they can't get to the seeds again. And so they'll stay out of trouble. *g*
Nothing else to share, sorry. I keep warning y'all that it's pretty boring here. I hope y'all had a gorgeous Friday, with lots of sun. I wish a lovely saturday with plenty of time to relax. Goodnight and hugs, B.
Exercise: 4.14 miles on the treadmill @ 6 incline. AND NO BLISTER!

Oreo isn't drunk!

Oreo isn't drunk on catnip in this picture. She's after a moth who had the unfortunate luck to sneak into the house. Is it sad that the highlight of my day yesterday was watching the cats chase this moth? *G* And yes, that is Chris's hand holding onto the lamp to keep Oreo from knocking it over.
Not much to tell y'all about today. It was 81 degrees and windy out this afternoon. We're expecting thunderstorms this evening. I'm not complaining. I like the rain and our area needs it, we're still in draught conditions here.
We went by the library today and picked up The Angel by Carla Neggars. After that we headed to WW to pick up seeds because I promised Son we would plant some seeds and we did! More info on that in the post below this one. While at WW I picked up a book as well. I couldn't help it! The Brass Bed by Jennifer Stevenson looked funny and very different and though I've never read this author before I am willing to take a chance.
I've been really tired today, really, really tired, so I decided to take the day off. Well, sort of. I took the day off of exercising and will be back at it tomorrow. I did however, do all the other stuff I do around here. *g* And speaking of, there are towels to be folded.
I hope that y'all had a happy and sunny day. I wish a Fun, Fabulous and maybe even slightly Funky Friday for y'all. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: Nope, no energy. Back at it tomorrow.

Son's idea for Spring!

I know this doesn't look very scientific, but we're not doing this for school. (Although, that is a nice side benefit. *G*) Today we planted Spearmint, Dahlia's and Catnip. The catnip and spearmint are for the kitties, Son picked the flowers. *G* Wish Son luck!

Butterscotch naps!

Not an original title I know. I'm not good at those. But, at least it's honest! *G* Butterscotch is the strangest cat. He's quiet, as a matter of fact we rarely hear him meow. He's very affectionate toward Son. He looks like he's in pain when he purrs and he's very skittish. But, no matter his quirks, he's loved.
Today has been nice out, but very warm. I kept the windows closed today because of the pollen in hopes that it will help us all. To be honest, while outside it was nice, today I have felt so lonely. I have 2 beautiful children whom I adore and a loving husband, but there are times when I am just so lonely. That's why I blog. It's why I read blogs. *sigh* Never mind, don't mind me. I'm just feeling sorry for myself.
Son did better with his schoolwork yesterday. I guess it's just that time of year for him. *G* He's ready to have a couple of weeks off. And yes, that's really all the time I give them off for summer. We homeschool year round and I make sure their breaks aren't very long because of the tendency to "forget" so much information. Now, I am not a slave driver. They do get other breaks through-out the year.
This evening I was able to go to my 2nd Yoga class this week. Imagine my surprise when a brand new instructor started tonight, with a new type of class. They call it PiYo. *G* It's part Pilates, part Yoga and pure SWEAT! Whoooo! It was fun though, and challenging. I think that's why I found it so fun, actually. *G*
Tomorrow I get to pick up a copy of The Angel by Carla Neggars. I am looking forward to reading this book. I also get to drop off that DVD, in the case this time. *g* In the meantime I still have the other books I picked up to read. I started Personal Effects but am finding the lead female character to be "off". Her attitude and way of thought and speaking is just hard to believe. Maybe it's just because I am a Southern woman who was raised differently than that of the lead female set in New York. I don't know.
And I've nothing else from my corner of the world sitting in my favorite chair. I hope that y'all had a pleasant day and enjoyed this Spring weather where-ever you are. I wish a fun and happy day for y'alls Thursday. Goodnight and God Bless, B.
Exercise: 1 hour of PiYo. Whew!

One of these pictures is of Fireball hanging out ON and almost off of my cabinets. If he's up there and you stand at the counter and talk to him he'll roll around and look like he's going to fall off. It can be a scary thing, but he looks so cute doing it!

The other picture is of my bedside table. I have a challenge for you! What do you keep on your bedside table? As you can see I have the "Fool For You" Bear that Chris gave me for Valentines day 2 years ago and a coaster, lamp, and what is supposed to hold a candle, but I use to hold my chapstick and contact lense case. Oh, and while the bear is cute, he's also handy. I usually place my books I'm going to read between his feet. *G* (And the kitty on my lamp shade is a bookmark, it doesn't work well, but Chris gave it to me and I smile every time I look at it.)

The day has been quiet but the kids have been on my very last nerve today. *sigh* One of the bad parts of homeschooling that I don't run into very often, is that the kids can be a handful some days. Today was that day for Son, who is usually very good at doing what he is told. Today it's like he had a problem keeping his attention on his work and he was antsy. I guess too much energy bundled up inside him today. As soon as we were done I sent him outside. Daughter had to write a composition today about 2 things and how they are the same and how they differ. She chose 2 of our cats. *G*

After they were done we headed to the library to turn in some DVD's and return some books. While there I was laughingly scolded, we had turned in an empty DVD case. Seems the rule of watching a movie and then placing it directly back in the case was broken by Son. *sigh* I'll take it by on the way to Yoga tomorrow. Luckily it isn't late. While there I picked up 3 books: Personal Effects by Pamela Piesman (which looks familiar?), The Sinner by Tess Gerritsen and Visions of Sugar Plums by Janet Evanovich ( a reread, but I wanted to remind myself of Stephanie's first meeting with Deisel). They had the Zodiac movie, but I wasn't in the mood. We are STILL on Hold for Nancy Drew (#35 on the Holds list) and 27 Dresses (#38 on the Holds list).

I also finished Because Your Vampire Said So by Michele Bardley. It was a good read and I have posted a review here. I finished it on the treadmill this evening. *G*

Anyway, time for me to go. I hope y'all had a delightful day, full of sunshine and smiles. I wish a good Wednesday for y'all full of happiness. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 4.12 miles on the treadmill @6 incline.

Layla is okay and my rosebush is blooming!

I wanted to post a picture of Layla so y'all would see that she's okay, just a bit banged up from my bedside table and sore. She's still limping a bit and Chris is reassuring me constantly that she is okay. The other picture is of a few of the roses from my rose bush. I planted this bush when we bought this house 4 years ago. The funny thing is, at the end of every summer I trim it back, by running over it with the lawn mower on purpose. *G* It sounds extreme, but the bush gets larger every year and the roses seem to get prettier every year. *g*
Remember when I mentioned last night how glad I was that Monday was coming so I could get back to our schedule. HA! Chris spent all that time outside last evening washing and then waxing his car and today woke up dizzy today. Seems his allergies weren't too happy with him and the drainage is messing with his ears. This happens at least once or twice a year with him. And Daughter came in and proceeded to sneeze her head off until she was all stopped up! She ended up with a nose bleed and irritated eyes. Son and I are okay, simple drainage.
I still managed to get everything that needed to be done today, done and hubs even vacummed the floors while I was at Yoga this evening. When he told me when I arrived back home, I asked him "who are you and what have you done with my husband?" He thought that was funny. I was serious. *G*
Started reading Because Your Vampire Said So by Michele Bardsley and haven't had time to finish it yet. Maybe this evening at bedtime. Tomorrow I need to run to the library and drop off a few things. And tonight I checked and was able to put The Angel by Carla Neggars on hold.
We did have two weird phone calls today. One was from a bank we don't use asking us when we were going to make payment on our account, um SORRY NOT US. They had Chris' first name and last name correct but the middle name and SS# was different and NO Chris didn't give his out over the phone, they asked if the one they had was his, NO. Another weird call, from our Mortgage company only it was a recorded message. I checked and we're up to date, so there should be no reason for a call. Chris will try and call them again tomorrow to see what the heck is going on. In the meantime, these 2 weird calls on the same day freaked us out, so we decided to check our credit reports and if you ever wondered, you are allowed (by Federal Law) to check yours for free once every 12 months. Go HERE to check into it. Ours is fine, but we put a Fraud Alert on there anyway to be safe. I know identity theft is a serious problem, which is why anything that has either of our names on it (or our kids names) and our address gets shredded. Even catalogues and our Parish Newspaper get the labels shredded. And if that sounds paranoid, yes, yes I am. *G*
That's all from me today. I hope that y'all had a good day. And that where ever y'all are you're safe and happy. I wish you a mellow and smile-filled Tuesday. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: 1 hour of Yoga.

Patches the Hula Girl takes a break!

Patches is another of the kitties that likes to sleep above my cabinets. I've told y'all before that I don't mind them getting up there, I look at it as not having to dust up there. *G* Patches doesn't look it in this picture, but she's really very sweet. I think she's rocking a "don't even think of taking my picture" vibe right here. *G*
The dinner went well. Even though we had told them to be here at 2pm (What is it with eating dinner at 2pm?) they arrived at 1pm. Yay. Don't get me wrong, the Out-laws are pretty great, but showing up an hour early? Seems MIL had brought me some Hosta plants to plant in my yard and thought that the hour early arrival time would give us enough time to PLANT THEM. Um, yeah. I didn't mind the plants, I minded the assumption that I had time to plant them AND cook. *sigh* Unfortunately for MIL's plans, the ground was too hard to dig up with my plain 'ol shovel, so they are COMING BACK OVER ON TUESDAY (Oh, the Joy!) and bringing a post-hole digger. Wheeeeee! *thunk*
I forgot to tell y'all that Son and Daughter hit the door to the outside at about 1pm and stayed outside, only coming in long enough to eat something and then going right back out, until almost 8:30 this evening. They had a blast, and no the Out-laws didn't mind. (They left at 5pm, btw.) Ah, but all that time outdoors wasn't without consequences. Son has a sunburned neck and a cute, lightly pink nose. Daughter? She's normal. She's like her Dad. They tan. Son and I burn. After the Out-laws left, Chris and I decided to wash the car and Jeep and had a blast. Son decided to help at one point, and OOPS! He got a little wet. I guess I need to be more careful with that hose. *g* It was after 5 and we were out there until 7:30pm, I thought we'd be safe since the heat of the day had past, but where Chris is like Daughter, normal. I have a slight sunburn on my chest where my v-neck was. Ugh.
No chance to read today. The day just seemed to slip by. I can't wait to be back to my schedule tomorrow. I also have to make a trip by the library and am looking forward to Yoga.
I hope that y'all had a good Sunday, that you found some relaxation and peace in your lives. I wish a stress-free and smooth Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.
Exercise: Um, we washed 2 vehicles today, does that count? *G*

Her eyes are hypnotizing you!

Oreo has a gaze that can be a bit freaky sometimes. Her eyes are always WIDE open and she always looks like she's freaked out, even when she's not. This picture is from yesterday where she is staring out the patio door and watching the kids play outside. And yeah, she's on top of my kitchen cabinets. *g*
Today was not the greatest day for me. I am stressed out about a lot of little things like the kids hard-drive and my body took the day off. I woke up with both wrists sore and feeling a bit lethargic. AND with allergies gone haywire. So, no, not a great day. AND Layla hit her leg or foot on my dresser yesterday morning and has been limping a bit ever since. *sigh* When it rains it pours, you know? *sigh* I'll give her a week to get over it, I think it's bruised, and if there is no change she's going to the Vet.
Anyway, Chris had to go to the Baseball game this afternoon and while he was gone I watched Juno. A strange, quirky, but good movie. I absolutely loved the ending. She did the right thing. After that I still had time to kill and so I watched Chris' movie SuperSize Me, scary what McDonalds culture has done to our society. The movie was quite interesting and I can't wait to hear Chris' reactions to it (he hasn't seen it yet). Since Chris was out this evening Daughter and I had our favorite thing lately for dinner, salad! YUM! Son does not eat salad so he had pizza. *g* I also felt a bit better, not to mention guilty as heck after watching SuperSize Me, so I walked on the treadmill. While walking I started Charmed and Dangerous by Candace Havens. I'm liking it alot, although have never really liked books set in journal format before, this one seems good. I hope to finish it later tonight.
Tomorrow Chris parents are coming over for dinner. I'm not sure why we invited them to be honest. It's not that we don't love them or anything, it's that MIL has started Weight Watchers AGAIN (this woman is SO obsessed with her weight!) and FIL has dietary restrictions due to the blockages he had. So, we're fixing grilled chicken, grilled corn on the cob, no salt green beans with garlic, salad and CRUD! I forgot a dessert! Hmmmm, I wonder what I can fix for dessert. Not that they'll eat it, but I need to have one to offer.
Just another boring day here. But, tomorrow should be interesting with the Out-laws visiting again and Chris will HAVE to talk to them. Heh. *G* I hope that y'all had a good day. One filled with smiles and fun things. I wish a peaceful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: A bit over 4 miles on the treadmill, no energy for running tonight, just walking @ a 6 incline. Taking a break for the hand weights tonight.

Fireball the Goat!

Fireball is a very dapper looking kitty. He has an intelligent gaze and can be very sweet. He also is very lithe. But we nicknamed him "Goat", and for a reason. He will try and eat anything. Plastic drink rings seem to attract him, as does anything that looks like string. If y'all remember, it's this belief that anything is edible that led him to have to have surgery for a preforated intestine. So, we are VERY careful of what is left lying around. Very careful. He's already used up 2 of his lives. (He fell of the 2nd floor ballister for one. Almost dying and having surgery for the other.)
Today was nice outside and Son had a blast playing pirate with a neighbor child this afternoon. Daughter is finishing up her last test and has been housebound today because of it. Chris took a half day off and came home early enough to go grocery shopping with us. Have y'all noticed the prices yet? I don't know about y'all, but I spent $50 more this time than I usually do. It was scary.
If that weren't depressing enough, this evening the kids computer decided to no longer work. Chris said the hard-drive has fried. *sigh* I let Son play online this evening on my computer, hence this late post.
Tomorrow Chris has a "work" event. His Boss bought all his Supervisors a ticket to a local Baseball game. It's supposedly for morale. Uh-huh. Chris hates sports. He doesn't mind playing a few of them, but abhors watching them. However, he needs to "play nice" for his career, so he's going. The funny thing is, it may rain tomorrow evening about the time for the game. *G* So, Chris may be granted a repreive.
Um, what else? To be honest, nothing. It was a rather boring day. I enjoyed it. I have started another book (Body Double by Tess Gerritsen)(Which is further along in the characters lives than I would have liked, but ah well.), even though I have YET to finish the Amanda Quick. I keep reading a few pages of that one and setting it down. I think it's because I'm not a historical fan anymore, although that's what I first read when discovering romance. I started with the old Gothics like Victoria Holt and simple romances by Barbara Cartlands. I was about 12 and thought they were SO cool. *g* To be honest, I probably read MANY an innapropriate book for my age. And of course I balanced all that with some Sci-Fi and Fantasy, not to mention Agatha Christie. Just like now, my reading was all over the place. What about y'all? Have your reading habits changed since you were young?
Since even I get bored reading of all my "household chores" I'll let this be it for the evening. I hope that y'all had a fun friday and that the sun shone upon y'all. I wish y'all a bright and happy Saturday. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: Nope. I should have but my allergies are acting up and I am miserable. *sigh* Maybe tomorrow.

Fuzzy picture, but funny reason!

I know this picture is fuzzy. And it's not because it was taken with my cell-phone. It's hard to take a clear picture of a MOVING TARGET. Uh-huh, you read that right, a moving kitty. As in, Midnight likes to walk on the treadmill and now I have proof! (Well, we have a video, but I don't know how to post it!) I keep telling y'all that my cats are weird. Just. Plain. Weird. *G*
Today was nice out! We reached about 80 degrees and I opened the windows and the patio door for the cats to enjoy. *g* They hardly left them all day. As a matter of fact, they're still in the windows right now!
I haven't had a chance to work out today, yet. The Out-laws came over this afternoon and shot my schedule to Hades. BUT, FIL figured out what was wrong with the lawn mower, so I won't complain. *g* After they left we finished the kids schoolwork and then I let the kids enjoy the lovely day for a bit before gathering them up and taking them to the library to pick up Juno, which had come in from Hold, as well as Supersize Me that Chris needed for a class he's taking next month. (A Business Management class.) After that since I was making a dinner that Son won't eat because GEEE it is healthy, homemade and contained veggies and chicken(chicken pot pie, Chris and Daughter are addicted to it), we headed to the Grocery store where I picked up something for him to eat this evening. While there he begged and begged and I gave in and let him pick a toy from the dollar isle. He chose a Pirates Cutlass that came with an eye patch and fake hoop earring. *G* He's been running around the house yelling "Avast Ye Matey's" Um, yeah, I maybe taught him to say that. *G* WHAT? You wouldn't? *G*
OOHHH, I forgot to mention I also picked up a few books while at the Library. I picked up: The Apprentice by Tess Gerritsen, Body Double by Tess Gerritsen, Hide Your Eyes by Alison Gaylin (new to me) and You Kill Me by Alison Gaylin (still new to me *G*). I still need to finish the Amanda Quick because I had no time to read today and last night I made a big ooboo and picked up one of the books I had ordered last week that arrived on Monday, Gone With the Witch by Annette Blair. I felt something was missing in the beginning of this book. If you hadn't read the first Triplet book it would have taken a LONG time to catch on, more backstory should have been told in THIS book. So, for me it was a "meh" book. Have you ever read one of those that was in a series where you liked the first book, the second was so-so, but you still wanted to read the third? (So you know how it all ends.)
Well, I'm off to exercise and first clean up the kitchen. I hope that y'all had a sunny, fun and laugh-out-loud day. I wish a fabulous Friday for y'all. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: I need to update this spot later, before bed. UPDATED: 4.10 miles on the treadmill @ 6 incline and 15 minutes of hand weights.
