I took this picture the other evening as I was mowing the lawn. I looked at that sky and loved all the colors. Everything I want to say pales in comparison to it's beauty.
Today about kicked my fanny. Daughter worked this morning and then I had errands to run afterwards. Before I knew it, it was time to pick her up and we headed home where I moved the garden stones we had around the AC unit because when the repairman was here last time he said they must be 18-24 inches away from the unit instead of the 6 inches away we had them. I also had to move all our hoses since we tend to clump them up together behind the AC unit as one of the outdoor faucets is there on the side of the house. Then I had to trim the weeping willow there, too. It was hanging over the unit and while I was thinking the shade it provided helped the unit from overheating the repairman said it keeps warm airflow from circulating correctly. So far the AC unit is behaving, though last night it quit working for a bit. We called the repair company and they should be returning our call soon, though it's still working again. (Better safe than sorry, right?)
Before I knew it Daughter had an event at the library. She texted me right when it was time for me to pick her up and asked if she and the fellow she likes could walk up to the Subway and could Chris pick her up from there. (At first she wanted to know if they could ride up there in a friends car. I nixed that quickly. No way, no how.) I realize I have to let her grow up. So, I let her. However, she pulled a fast one. As soon as I was in Yoga she asked Chris if she could stay at Subway and eat there with the boy and then walk back to the Y. (Over an extra hour.) He, not being able to get in touch with me thought that might be okay. And it might have been. If I hadn't laid some ground rules up front and she agreed to them. Why do teenagers do stupid things? I know it might sound as though I've over-reacted, but she manipulated Chris and she and I had already had rules set in place. So. She's grounded. I know she's 17. I know she needs a chance to 'unfurl her wings', but she needs to do it honestly and upfront. Anything else is a lack of respect and I won't tolerate it. It's funny, but in this case I'm the one who's being strict and Chris is the one who is more relaxed. Usually our roles are reversed. I know she's testing boundaries. And I am here to set them. I sound like an irrational, mean mom don't I? *sigh*
Change of subject. I've finished the Mallery book. The hero was a total snot right up until the end. I kept wanting the heroine to smack him and walk away. Oh, well. Now I'm reading Cloaked in Malice by Annette Blair. It's the fourth book in the mystery series featuring a vintage clothier and gifted psychometric.
That's all. I need to get some sleep. The yard work this afternoon was rough thanks to the heat. Ugh. I hope y'all had a pleasant Monday. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
