Book Mom

A Southern Mom who is trying to be less shy and loves books.

Will it ever stop raining?

Poor Layla, it drizzled all day today and the sun never came out to warm her tummy. *G* She looked for it and waited. Too bad Layla, no sun for us until Tuesday! *G*
Today has been drizzly (Is that a word?) today and very chilly. I woke up early and felt rough, so I spent the morning being lazy. *g* We didn't have to go have pictures made today. There was some kind of snafu, so NO PICTURES! YAY! The kids didn't mind if it were raining and cold, they played with their friends and Daughter is spending the night with her friend across the street. Poor Son, he's not quite sure how to act with Daughter away and Daughter's kitty, Patches is wandering the house looking for her. We did take Son shopping for Daughter's Christmas gifts this evening. He liked that he was able to help shop for her and we'll see how well he keeps this secret. *G* (I'm hoping he forgets what we bought. *G*)
I do have a weird question for y'all. We've been eyeing the Star Wars Ultimate Lightsabers for Son and noticed that the price has actually fluctuated on Amazon. (Right now the price is the same as in stores, but with free shipping because it's over $25 and no tax.) But, it had been $5 cheaper and then changed and then it was $5 cheaper again. IN TWO WEEKS. *sigh* I went ahead and ordered it today, but it irks me that the price kept changing from one day to the next. Would you email the company? And yes, I know that they won't do anything about it, I just wish to let them now how displeased I am. *g*
Still haven't read today. I'll find time soon. Keeping Son occupied has been fun. *G* And I'll tell you something funny. He would not stop talking on the way to the stores this evening! *g* But, Chris and I treated him to McDonald's tonight and that seemed to make him happy.
I can tell y'all that I am sore today, and not just from the cold. Playing Basketball with Son yesterday left my arm's sore and I work out with weights during the week that don't leave me this sore! *g*
Sorry to say, that's all that's happened today. We've been pretty low-key and boring. *g* I hope y'all had a more lively and pleasant day. I wish a relaxing and peaceful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: Nope.

Layla, the stern Queen!

This picture of Layla is absolutely HILARIOUS. It proves that there is hardly ever a bad picture taken, it just depends on how you look at it. *G* This was taken with my cell phone and one of the kids had put a tiara on Layla that a friend had given us. It suits her, doesn't it? *G* Does it not look as though she'll tell you exactly what to do and how to do it? *G*
Today wasn't too bad. We were able to get Son's hair cut this afternoon before the extended family dinner. For once I walked in, told them how to cut it AND IT WAS DONE the way I wanted it! *g*
We actually arrived early for the dinner, we were the first ones there, we even beat the Out-laws! I kept Son company by playing basketball with him in the gymnasium where the dinner was held. And managed to get a few balls in the basket, Son did, too! It was fun to play with him and keep out of the way. We were there for almost 3 hours and afterwards we went grocery shopping. Then, home for a snack and a bit of relaxing before bed.
I haven't had time to read today. I have all these books and no time to read any of them! Tomorrow, maybe, I'll be able to read. *sigh* I'm not feeling well right now, so I'm headed off. I hope y'all had a relaxing and fun day. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Not really, did play basketball with Son today if that counts.

Ahoy!

Didn't expect to see this when you popped over today, did you? What you're seeing is the reason we stayed home for Thanksgiving. So Son and Daughter could have a GOOD TIME. I was making dessert early this afternoon and Son spied my dough hook for the mixer. That was all it took, he grabbed it, ran upstairs and grabbed his eye patch, back downstairs for his 'cutlass' and begged me to make him a pirate hat. *G* He spent a good amount of time going around the house yelling "Avast ye maties!". *G* Which was funny coming out of the mouth of a child who reminds me more and more of Huckelberry Finn, with his freckles, bright and merry blue eyes, (right now) his gapped tooth grin and his shock of bright red hair. (I know that last one throws you for a minute, but trust me, he really does.) Daughter would sigh and roll her eyes, but I caught her grinning at him a time or two as well. *G*
I could tell y'all about the turkey and all the trimmings we had today, but I'm STILL full. I WILL tell y'all that the dessert I made for us was well received. *G* And tomorrow? We get to do it all again with the extended family. I better get better and able to work out soon or I'm going to go nutty! *G* AND YAY! I got my voice back sometime this afternoon, it was gone all morning. *g*
I hope today found you surrounded by family and/or friends. I hope you had a lovely time. I also wish y'all a relaxing day after Thanksgiving. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: Not today, but I'm hoping for VERY soon. *G*

Layla wants that cookie!

I took this picture last week when Son decided he wanted to take a cookie break. *g* Look at Layla. She wants that cookie. *g* Lucky for her Son doesn't mind sharing. *G*

Today has been busy. Unfortunately we had errands to run today. First off was the library, they called this morning and 2 books had come in Hold for me and they would be closed Thursday and Friday. So, I now have: Welcome to Serenity by Sherryl Woods and All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks. In the few minutes I was in there I also picked up Suite 606 an anthology with J.D. Robb, Mary Blayney, Ruth Ryan Langan and Mary Kay McComas. I'm looking forward to reading these.
They'll have to wait, though. I started the Wolfsbane and Mistletoe book last night. The Sookie Stackhouse story was nice and I was happy there wasn't blood shed and that someone did something nice for Sookie. (And that's all I'll say, I don't want to spoil it.)
After the library we ran by the UBS, but they had closed early, so we then ran to the grocery store where they had cola's on sale and then to Marshall's where Chris took back the bluetooth he bought last weekend, there were too many problems with it. He did pick up some socks and we found a stocking stuffer for Son there, too. After that we dropped of the Recyclables and then to WW to pick up some dried cherries for the dessert I'm making for the big family dinner on Friday. After all that I was very glad to arrive home. Chris and I made dinner together and enjoyed watching Bones. All in all it's been a nice evening. And btw, I think I have a cold. *g* Fun holidays, eh? *G*
I just want to say that I am Thankful for many things this year. My husband, my children, my kitties and YOU. I am very Thankful for y'all, for the laughs and smiles y'all give me, for the thoughts and book suggestions. But, most of all, for the friendship. Thank you, my friends. May you have a Blessed Thanksgiving, B.
P.S. Here's a holiday joke for ya!
Cooking a Turkey !
Here is a turkey recipe that includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing.
When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out.
Give this a try. It really works!!
BAKED STUFFED TURKEY
15 lbs fresh turkey
2 cups melted butter
4 cups stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good), celery, onions and 2 cups uncooked popcorn (low fat brand) salt/pepper to taste.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt and pepper.
Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn.
Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.
Listen for the popping sounds.
When the turkey's fanny blows the oven door open and the turkey flies across the room, it's done.
*G*
Happy Thanksgiving

Another alien eyed kitty!

Although I find it more funny that she's just propped up against the wall watching everything that's going on in the hall. *G* And yes, I know, there are a lot of books stacked up against the wall behind Layla. Those are some of Daughters books, we're a bit short of book cases and are talking about building better ones for that wall.
Today was nice, it was cold, but still warmer that it has been and the kids were ecstatic when their friends could come over and play outside today. I enjoyed the somewhat peaceful indoors. (I say somewhat because it seemes like every 5 minutes one or the other of my children was running in and out.) I've felt achey today, but haven't let that slow me down, until tonight that is. I did make it by the library today and now have: Wolfsbane and Mistletoe edited by Charlaine Harris and Toni P. Kelner with stories in the anthology by Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, Keri Arthur, Carrie Vaughn, Donna Andrews and a few others;then there's Let it Snow: three holiday romances a YA anthology with authors John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle.
I'm finishing Ace is Wild by Penny McCall, it's a good romantic suspense featuring a Psychic and the DA who she's trying to keep from being killed. There is of course a lack of believability on his part, not to menion a lack of trust, but the chemistry these two have for each other is making for a good pairing. So far I'm really enjoying it! I don't know why I've always been a little partail to books that feature psychics. I have all the Donovan Legacy books by Nora Roberts. The ORIGINALS, with the purple Harlequin Banner. *G* (And it wasn't a question of buying them used, I bought them all those years ago and kept them.) How far back do some of your keeper books go? And if you DO have older keepers, has the author had a reprint of that book since then? And I'm not talking about books like War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy or Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, those are always reprinted. *g*
We went to the Y tonight for my Turbokick class. Since Daughter watched me in the last class Son was adamant that he get to watch class this time. SO, I had both in the back of class. Talk about un-nerving! And I was still feeling achy, but wanted to go ahead and try. About 25 minutes into class I started feeling neausus, but stuck it out. By the time class was over and I changed I almost lost it. *sigh* I don't know if this has something to do with the drainage I've had all day, my lunch or whether I'm coming down with some bug. Ugh. I was happy to get home and let Chris fix dinner for himself and the kids, though. I feel a bit better now, though still have lovely drainage.
As for tomorrow there are a few errands to run, hopefully one of them is to visit the UBS. So, I'm headed off. I hope y'all had an enjoyable Tuesday, that something made you smile. I wish an easy-going Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: 45-50 minutes (she ran over) of TurboKick. No weights tonight.
P.S. I have to make a dessert for the family get-together on Friday. Would chocolate covered cherry brownies sound good to you? (I don't like to make the predictable pumpkin pies, everyone else will be bringing things like that.)

Alien eyes!

Athena's eyes look a tad scary in this picture taken last night. We joked around that the aliens had landed and were set to takeover the house. *G* And actually, Athena has the prettiest eyes, they look like molten gold. I wish I could get a good picture of them!
So, today? We've decided to play hooky this week. Let me rephrase that. We (Chris and I) have decided to give the kids the week off. Their schoolwork is scheduled by week (wk 1, wk 2, wk 3, etc.) so rather than just give them Thursday and Friday off, and not have Son ready to take his tests on Wednesday, or Daughter for that matter, they get the week off and can have a small break and then we're right back at it next Monday. Since this is the first time they've had off in 11 weeks, I don't think it will be a bad thing.
RANT AHEAD: (Feel free to skip this mess.)
I completely forgot to tell y'all about the mess MIL tried to stir up last week and trust me when I say that Chris and I were disgusted at some of the things she said. It all started a month ago when we decided to have Thanksgiving with just ourselves, in our home. Chris and I truly do not like to travel on Holidays and are tired of house-to-house dinners. *sigh* SIL wasn't happy about it, but it was our decision. (Thanksgiving is always held at SIL's house now and as they invite all their friends and families it's hard on us, not to mention there's NOTHNG for the kids to do there.) We also told MIL who seemed to take it well. At least we thought she had. Last week she started in again on how she wanted her family together for the Holiday and hey, what if she had it at her house, later that night. (I have to bribe my kids to go over there these days. They are bored out of their minds and MIL cares more for how her house looks than she does her grandkids be comfortable.) Chris told her we had already promised the kids they wouldn't have to go anywhere and that we had also already bought our turkey. She was NOT happy. She started in on Chris about how she and FIL weren't getting any younger. We've given in A LOT for some of their little tantrums, but Chris and I have had it. And again, he said no. Then she started in on Christmas and how she wanted us over there Christmas morning. (Which we'd just settled into a Christmas Eve rythm with them that works for EVERYONE and she brings this up?) Um, no. How fair is that to the kids. They'd get up early open their gifts here and then have to leave them here to rush and go to the Out-laws? So then she started in on how they wouldn't be around forever and how she wanted her family to spend time together. Chris reminded her that we've gone over there for dinner countless times, that they visit here any time they want and that we DO spend time with them. *sigh* THEN she wanted to go ahead and plan Thanksgiving and Christmas for next year! Chris told her he couldn't and wouldn't plan that far ahead with his schedule because it changes every six months. That did NOT make her happy. She wanted to know why he couldn't just go ahead and plan for it and he explained that if he had to work, he had to work. That his job and supporting his family came before planning anything. Ooh, boy she really didn't want to hear that. He told her he had to be flexible if he wanted to move up in the company and that if it meant missing holiday dinners or moving then that's what he'd do. She didn't like that either. What does she expect? That we be like them, no. Our family comes first. I've never in my life met people more self absorbed, controlling and selfish. *sigh* As it is, we've given in on having pictures made with them this weekend. We love them, but am so tired of all this. OH, AND we agreed to go to a huge family dinner on Friday. *sigh*
RANT OVER! *g* (I know return you to the regularly scheduled blog post. *G*)
Ah, what else? The library STILL had not added any of the books to circulation that I have been haunting the database for. Most of these book were released two weeks ago, like the latest J.D. Robb. Good thing I have had books to read at home. *g* I'm hoping to make it to the UBS on wednesday. In the meantime, I finished Talk of the Town by Karen Hawkins. I am in no way (I don't think.) a pude, but was pleasantly surprised that the heroine and hero held out until over 300 pages to 'consumate their attraction' *G*. But, whew! when they did! The murder/ is it a murder -investigation in the book was handled well and the villian was a pleasant surprise as you're led to believe it was someone else (Ooh, a red herring! Sorry, too many viewings of Clue.). All in all I liked it and am waiting to see if the author writes any more contemporaries. Are there any books being released in December that you're looking forward to? I have a handful myself that am hoping to snatch off the shelves.*G*
Time to shut down. I hope y'all have had a dry and not frigid day. Also, I hope it was calm and pleasant. (Can you tell it was wet, rainy and freezing here today? *G*) I wish a happy and smile-filled Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, just because, B.
Exercise: 1 hour of Yoga! YAY! I love my classes like a chocoholic loves chocolate. *G*

New lights and curious cats!

Chris put the new lights for the kitchen up when he came home from work today and the cats freaked out! They were everywhere in the kitchen watching Chris put up the new lights. (I helped!) Here is Oreo on the counter (don't worry, I wipe down the counters several times a day). She's been staring at Chris and watching his every move. Fireball was in the hallway, Midnight was on top of the cabinets and Layla was watching from the kitchen table (I wash that down several times a day as well). But, I now have new VERY BRIGHT lights (there are 8 lights at 50w halogen lights apiece). We were actually shocked at how bright it was and started joking about needing sunglasses and needing to run off and buy a dimmer switch. *g*
Today has been busy! I took the kids to meet MIL at the movie theater so they could see Madagascar 2. After dropping them off I picked up a prescription at the pharmacy and then headed home where I vacummed, ironed clothes and did laundry. Not too long after I finished the kids arrived home and went out to play a bit with their friends. Sometime outside Son finally pulled the loose tooth out and there is already a permanent tooth showing under the gumline! (And he now has a slight lisp that is too cute!) Good thing I asked for my change from the pharmacy in dollars! *G* The tooth fairy will need to visit tonight!
While waiting on Chris to get home I finally started the Karen Hawkins book, Talk of the Town. It's been a fun read so far. From what I understand this is the authors first contemporary and so far it's enjoyable!
It's getting late and Chris has fallen asleep in his chair again, time to roust him upstairs. I hope that y'all had a peaceful Sunday. I wish a low-key, stress-free and pleasant Monday for y'all. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: Nope. Too busy with household things.

Sunbeams and Napping!

Sunbeams must be nap inducing. Here is Butterscotch napping in one of the kitty houses. I thought it was sweet how the sun seemed to land on his paws. *g* (I want a better camera next year, though.)
Today has been chilly and tiring. We never made it out of the 40's today, whew! I don't think I ever warmed up! We had multiple errands to run today and I was so stressed that we wouldn't make it to most of them. But, things worked out. Daughter now has had a haircut (only two inches, you'd think a 13 year old would be more adventerous). While she was getting her hair done I left Chris and Son at the salon and walked down to Ulta, a cosmetic/perfume/salon/beauty supply store where I picked up a few stocking stuffers for her. (They had a sale of 5 items for $5, so I picked up a pack of finger nail files, a small compact mirror, sparkly nail polish, a small tin of lip gloss and a tube of hand lotion.) After that we headed to Mass and after Mass we headed to Marshalls. I'm looking for a black cardigan type sweater, but was out of luck. However, they did have Bluetooths there and we picked one up for Chris. Not bad considering it was only $15. I won't buy him a more expensive one anymore, this is his 4th. (He tends to kill them somehow.) After Marshalls we headed by Lowe's to pick up a replacement light (bulb AND casing) for the one Daughter broke last night. Only. No replacement. As a matter of fact they don't sell our light in our color anymore. *sigh* So! New lighting system for the kitchen. *sigh* I joked to Daughter on the way out that that was the most expensive light bulb I'd ever bought. After THAT we headed to WW where I needed graham cracker and whipping cream for the dessert I'm making for Thanksgiving. And I was ever so glad to go home after all that. Although, WW was unlike it's usual self. It was quiet. I've never been in WW when it was quiet before.
But, we made dinner and am now relaxing in the LR. It's almost time for bed. *G* Oh, I did finish the Christie Craig book. It was very entertaining and enjoyable. There were funny scenes and whew! Sexy scenes. There were of course a few "that man is an idiot" scenes, too. *G* All in all, a good read. *g* My only problem with today is that I wasn't able to get by the UBS. I only have one more book and then the library better get on the ball! *G*
Anyway, I hope that y'all have had a relaxing and fun Saturday. I wish y'all a peaceful and low-key Sunday. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: I did a lot of walking today, but that's about it! *G*

Sunbathing!

Every time I look at this picture it is in awe and with laughter! I know y'all don't know this, but Layla and Oreo are not fond of each other. (As in Oreo is jealous of Layla.) So, to catch the two of them so close to each other and pretty happy was odd, but cute. (Please excuse the quality of this photo, I took it with my cell phone.)
Ever have one of those days? You know the ones I mean, where you wish you could just stay in bed and pull the covers over your head? My day started out that way. I overslept, woke with a headache and aching wrists/hands, had to try and be nice about getting the cats off the bed so I could wash everything today, and wonder why the heck my house is warmer upstairs than down (not just because warm air rises). Luckily it was a quick day as far as schoolwork was concerned because no sooner had we finished than the kids friends were knocking on the door. *g* They made it a whole 5 minutes outside before they asked if they could play inside today (it was 40 degrees for a high here today) and I said yes. I didn't expect that 2 more kids would cause the noise level to go up that high! Then Daughter's friend came over as well and I made peanut butter cookies (one boy told me I made good cookies, so that made me smile) and Daughter tried to make popcorn on the stove using Chris' popcorn pot, but burned it. They ended up eating microwave popcorn and watching The Mummy. *G* While the kids were still here (at this point I was watching them while their parents ran a few errands) Son somehow managed to bump his mouth on our side table and loose a top tooth (Chris said it's a baby tooth, so I'm not freaking out as bad as I was.) and Daughter managed to break a halogen bulb and it's cover while in the kitchen bouncing a ball. *sigh* Now, I did manage to keep the other kids from getting harmed, I'm sure their parents appreciate THAT. *G* Oh, and those two accidents? Happened the 5 minutes I was upstairs putting the clean sheets on the bed. At least the cookies came out good. *sigh* I adore the kids friends, but I was SO happy when they went home.
One bright spot in my day, I've been reading Divorced, Desperate and Dating by Christie Craig. (A quick description: A romantic mystery about a mystery writer who is being threatend by the same incidents she writes about and protected by the cop who kissed her four months ago and never called. *g*)It's been a good read and I'm almost finished with it. I would be finished but cleaning up glass, burned popcorn, baking cookies, and cleaning up blood (off the counter, the sink, my sweater, etc) where Son also split his lip takes time.
Thank GOODNESS it's time for bed. I can't take much more today. I hope that y'all had a low-key and enjoyable Friday. I wish a relaxing and pleasant Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: Not today. *sigh* (The Y doesn't offer Childwatch on Fridays, or the weekend btw.)

One question: WHY?

When we were at Lowe's last night we walked around and were looking at all the Holiday decorations. And this caught my eye. It's a Santa bath mat and toilet cover. No, really, Santa's head goes on the toilet seat and the rug that goes around is made to look like his suit. WHY? WHY would someone put Santa on their toilet? I'm all for decorating for the Holidays, but I have to say I find this odd. *G*
As for today, it's been pretty low-key. Schoolwork with the kids and then I've been doing load after load of laundry. And for some reason I can't get Daughter to help me out with things around the house. *sigh* So, that frustrates me. But, makes for a good workout at the Y tonight! *g* And if that weren't bad enough, MIL is up to her old tricks with a phone call tonight that I am having to b.r.e.a.t.h.e. slowly about. *sigh*
I read Marley & Me by Josh Grogan last night when I went to bed. I enjoyed the book and there were many laugh out loud moments where I was trying not to wake Chris up but laughing so hard I was shaking the bed. And then, towards the end? I was crying so hard I couldn't see the pages. I hope those who do read the book don't think that only dog lovers can feel that way about a beloved pet, though. Because I can testify that would be false.
Anyway, now I am free to enjoy one of the two books I splurged on last night. *G*
After arriving home from the Y after our workouts this evening I started dinner, Stir Fry (yes, we eat that a lot here, it's a family favorite) and am now enjoying Eleventh Hour.
I would ask that y'all visit Devon's blog: http://www.devonellington.wordpress.com/ She lost her much loved Grandmother yesterday. I know our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family at this time.
And that's where I'm going to leave things tonight. I hope y'all know that I think of each of y'all as my dearest friends and that it pains me when y'all are upset and hurt/ing and I can't help. Blessings to each of you and may your Friday be full of lovely moments. Goodnight, B.

Your time is up!

Layla doesn't like it when I get on the computer too much. I hated to tell her, but Son needed to look at an atlas today for his History/Geography course. *G* And may I say, the internet is fabulous, we found what we needed in seconds. Luckily for Layla I then had time to pet her for a few minutes. *G*
Today didn't turn out as we expected. MIL called this morning and said that they wouldn't be over today because FIL wasn't feeling well. However, she and Chris met for a nice lunch while the kids and I completed schoolwork. After the kids and I were done, we headed out to try and run a couple of errands before the kids class. First was Gamestop a store that specializes in all kinds of games (New and Used)for PC's, XBox's, Playstations and GameCubes, Nintendo's, etc.. Our kids only have Gameboys, and computer games. Yes, I know, poor things. *G* And games are pretty hard to find for them, but we found LOTS there today. Which is why each has a new (to them) game now.
After that we headed to get Daughters hair cut, but the place was already busy with one stylist, so we decided to go back Saturday instead. Since we still had time before the kids class we decided to stop by Palmetto Home & Garden a lovely store full of different booths for different things such as antiques, candles, rugs, paintings, pewter, etc. All very, very pretty. *G* We found a SC palmetto outdoor sign for the Out-laws for Christmas, and will go back for it next week. *g*
It was time for class after all of that and while delivering the kids to their teachers, Chris and I kinda, sorta volunteered to help at Son's holiday party in December. Ack! *g* While the kids were in class Chris and I headed to BAMM where I treated myself to two books, Talk of the Town by Karen Hawkins and Divorced, Desperate and Dating by Christie Craig. Chris and I also treated ourselves to some warm beverages because WHEW! It was cold tonight! I had the Intense Dark Chocolate Hot Chocolate. *G* YUMMY! Of course I got the largest size and two extra cups to share with the kids. *g* We picked up the kids and headed to Lowe's. We needed a new silverware tray and curtain rods for Daughters room. Since it was getting late we picked up dinner while out. And are now snuggled in at home. *sigh* Why is it no matter how nice things may be out, it's always nicer to be at home? *G*
And now I am tired. Too bad, I still have many things to do. *g* I hope that y'all had a nice day. I wish y'all a smile-filled and comfortable Thursday. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: Not today. It's supposedly my day off. *g*

Midnight, what more can I say?

Midnight plopped himself down on Son's schoolwork today. He wanted some attention. Look at that funny face. I decided if he was going to be in the way, he was going to be useful so I snapped a picture of him! *G*
Today has been weird weather wise. It's still Fall, right? Or did we skip Fall and head straight to winter? Because today we only reached 41 degrees and that's not even counting in the wind chill! SOOOOO not normal for here.
And I must be crazy because I went ahead and mopped the floors! Think about it. Wet floors. Can't wear socks. Equals COLD feet when done. *G*
I also made it by the library today. I picked up a cookbook, 250 Best Cobblers, Custards, Cupcakes, Bread Puddings & More by Esther Brody. I also picked up a book everyone but me has probably read or heard about, Marley & Me by John Grogan. I read an interview done with the author that piqued my curiosity. *g* Have you ever done that? Read about a book or author in an interview and want to read them? Probably, eh? *G*
Tomorrow was supposed to be a good day, with plans that we as a family had made. (Haircuts, visits to a particular store, etc.) However, the Out-laws will be visiting and those plans are now on hold. *sigh* I felt bad for the kids, but we will make time to do those things another day. And hopefully the Out-laws won't stay long and we can salvage the afternoon. (The kids still have class tomorrow evening.) And yes, I know I could have told them it would be a bad time to visit. But, there were reasons why I didn't. First, they called early in the morning. I can't think that early without caffiene. *g* And Second, they haven't visited since Halloween. Third, neither are in the absolute best of health (especially FIL) and the guilt of keeping them from their grandchildren would have eaten at me. (Yes, I'm sad, I know.)
Well, time for me to start the bedtime rituals of our home. (Meaning I clean up after everyone and feed the loony animals.) I hope that y'all had a nice Tuesday. I wish y'all a productive, kind and happy Wednesday. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: 2.5 miles on the elyptical, 35 minutes on weight machines (different machines). Guess what? I can now leg press 140lbs.!

Uhhhhhh, I have no idea!

No, really. Look at his face. I could almost swear that's what's on his face. Butterscotch is a handsome fellow and very sweet (with a hard head), but he's a few french fries short of a happy meal. Ooh, better one. The wheels still turning but the hamsters dead. And yes, we are aware that his collar is startin to fuzz out and look like a ruff. *g*
Today has been one thing after another. I slept late, but then again not. I'm not sleeping well at all lately, so any sleep is welcome. Um, what else? Son decided to smell all the markers that we have that have scent (melon, berry, mint, cinnamon, etc.) and ended up with a colored nose. *G* It was so cute! But, yeah, I did make him wash his nose off. (This was after schoolwork.) I managed to vacumm, clean the kitchen and run some laundry. I also managed to finally pick a book to read, Ace Is Wild by Penny McCall. I found it on one of my shelves and don't remember reading it so either I've read it, or it was mistakenly put on my shelves. *G* Since the first chapter is not familiar, I'll guess the latter. Maybe Chris or one of the kids placed it there.
So, I decided to be nosey again tonight. And thanks for helping with my curiosity of y'alls wardrobe, it was fun! Tonights question is: How do you organize your books? Do you have keeper shelves? Do you go by title? Or alphabetical? Do you organize by genre? I organize by genre AND alphabetically. I even place my category romances that I've kept over the years (not alot, about one full shelf.) seperate from my regular romance. When it comes to the sci-fi/fantasy section it's a mix of mine and Chris' books (Who has a WHOLE bookshelf unit of his own for computer books.). *g* I hope someday to have a better shelving system in place. Right now I have two handmade bookshelves and both are full to bursting. And I just purged not too long ago! OOh, another question? Your absolute favorites and signed books, do you keep those with your regular keepers, or are those seperate as well? Mine are seperate and stay in my bedside table. And yeah, I know I'm too nosey. Sorry? *g*
The buzzer is about to go off for the cookies I'm making that Son asked for. I hope that y'all had a lovely Monday. I wish a delightful and laugh-filled Tuesday (stay warm!). Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: 1 Hour Yoga. Our teacher taught us some new breathing techniques this week, one was ODD. *G* But, it made me smile, so that's ok.

Look you! It's MY chair!

Gee Layla, what's wrong? You want Daddy to move? He's what? In YOUR chair? Um, yeah, sweetie we need to talk. See the furniture is for people. Don't give me that look! *G* That's how the (one sided thank you, I'm not a total loon) conversation started anyway........

So maybe me going around to run all those errands yesterday without a coat on wasn't such a smart idea. Chilly and high winds do make for a sore throat in the morning. *G*
It's been such a quiet day today! I have gotten laundry and the ironing done today, though! AND I made dinner! *G* Am I a good wife or what? *G* I say that because I made him beef tips over rice. He does enjoy his red meat. *G*
I didn't read today, even though I could have made the time. I still can't think of what to read! The library doesn't have anything for me right now, my keeper shelves are nicely stocked but I remember every. single. book. And my TBR shelf is EMPTY. I can't wait to go to the bookstore (well, the UBS) on Wednesday. Maybe BAMM, too. *g* Anyone have any suggestions? *G* What are y'all reading?
Devon was commenting on some fashions she had seen out and about the other day and I had to shake my head because that must be a NY thing. You won't find too many outrageous outfits around here. So, my question tonight is this! How do you dress? Are you conservative? A bit outrageous and daring? What do you wear out opposed to what do you wear around the house? Me? I'm a boring and very conservative dresser. It's part of being shy I think. I tend to wear clothes that won't attract attention. Yesterday to run errands I wore jeans, an oxford shirt and loafers. But, that (scary enough) is kinda dressing up for me. I am happiest in my sweats (in the winter and they're nice sweats *G*) and long-sleeve tee's (again, in the winter). And I admit, if it's a special occasion I pop on a dress. No stripes or patterns for me, either. *g* How about y'all? *g*
Okay, I guess that's enough of me being nosey tonight. *g* I hope that y'all had a restful and peaceful day. I wish y'all a low-key and energetic Monday. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: I actually rested today.

She know's something is missing!

I apologize for the poor quality of this picture, but I had to take it quickly the other day. Yes, that's Layla IN MY TUB. *g* I'm used to the other kitties jumping in the tub after showers, they like to drink the water that drips right after our showers. What I did not know was that Layla could jump in there as well (she IS rather, um, fluffy). Unfortunately she jumped in BEFORE my shower, not after. *g*
Today has been interesting to say the least. Mass was most interesting and left me feeling bad for our Priest. But, anyway. After Mass we headed to Sam's to pick up the last of our groceries for the next two weeks (yeah, right) and while there we also picked up one thing for the Out-laws for Christmas. A Betty Crocker Heart Healthy Cookbook. Because FIL has to watch what he eats carefully and doesn't always do that. After that we headed to Target to pick up a few more household items and while there Chris and I worked well together in the sneakiness department. We made sure which baseball bats the kids liked and then the kids and I went to look at something else, Chris (on the pretext of using the restroom) went back and bought them as well as some practice balls for both and a t-ball mount for Son. *g* Oh, and a pair of walkie-talkies for Son as well. *G* I'm going to wait until after Thanksgiving to buy much more for them because I want to see what the stores will have for Black Friday sales. And now I don't have that panicked feeling, that one that has been making me freak a bit because I had started for Daughter a couple of weeks ago and had nothing for Son yet. Considering how much more I need to get I shouldn't feel so relieved, but I do! *g* Have y'all started with your Holiday shopping yet? Since I don't work we have a set budget for the kids and the family. Chris and I give each other small things. Our Anniversary is so close (Jan. 18th) that we don't over-do. Do y'all have a strict budget? Do you stray from that? *G*
I finished Girls That Growl by Marianne Mancusi. It's neat to have an author that I read both the regular fiction/adult books for and the YA books. *G* She also has a new book out this week titled Gamer Girl. I think I may pick it up for Daughter and I. Now I just need to pick something else to read. I don't know if it'll be something off my shelves or the Jayne Ann Krentz book I picked up for a reread this week. I won't get a chance to make it to the bookstore until Wednesday and who knows if they'll have anything I'd want. It's happened! *g*
BTW, I've been hearing some disturbing rumors concerning the book publishing world. THIS is what I'm talking about. If this is incorrect, please let me know. And if not-GO BUY A BOOK. *g* I bought one for my Out-laws today (the cookbook) just because of this. Personally what could be better to get or give than a book anyway? *G*
I need to get off the computer, it's been a long day and there are still many things to be done before I can shut my eyes. I hope that y'all had a relaxing and enjoyable day. I wish y'all a restful and restorative Sunday. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: I walked all over Sam's about three times and Target at least twice, does that count? *G*

Awwww, too cute!

I took this picture today with my cell phone. Is Fireball too cute? I think so! Why is it when I'm half asleep I look shell-shocked, but he looks adorable? *G*
Oooh, jeez. The whole internet thing? SO not fun. Yesterday afternoon I went to turn on my computer, hoping to check my email and nothing. I couldn't get online. I couldn't understand why everything was fine before I went to bed last night, but not working around 1pm. *sigh* Chris called AT&T when he arrived home from work and we were told that everything showed fine from there that it had to be on our end. They said that if it was on the outside connection, they'd fix it. But, if it were something inside other than our modem (we have DSL) that we would be responsible for paying for it. (Thoughts of $1000's of Dollars start tripping through my head, I'm freaking out at that point.) They make an appointment to come this morning to look at everything. Chris says no way is it anything to do with us and goes outside to check the connection. There was silicone all over the connection out there and was practically oozing it. Ugh. So, we're thinking that may be it. He cleans out the silicone and plugged a cord in, barely a dial tone. He comes in and we check our phone line. NO DIAL TONE. He goes out and takes a bit more silicone out and comes back in, we have a dial tone! YAY! At least if I have to dial 911 everything will work. *sigh* This morning? AT&T never shows up. Chris called on his lunch hour, they wrote down the appointment wrong, for THIS AFTERNOON. *sigh* Gee, glad I didn't have any plans or anything. But, the guy arrived relatively early. So I'm okay. He looks outside and said he couldn't get a connection at all and he's going to look at the main Box up the road. *sigh* Turns out someone had accidentally unhooked us from the box when they were working on someone elses line yesterday. He comes back and we boot up my computer. It takes 5 minutes before it will connect. But, since it did connect, the guy leaves and I'm thinking everything is okay. NOT! It's been dropping connection all day, Chris is getting ticked because right now it's late and he's on Hold with AT&T and swears they must have outsourced their call center because they don't seem to understand what he's telling them. You know it has to be bad when we can't even complete a speed test for the line, my Hubs who works FOR a call center can't understand or be understood AND he has a degree in Information Technology and can't get the person on the phone to LISTEN to him. *sigh* It's going to be a long weekend.

But, I did manage to make it to the Library early this evening and grocery shopping later this evening with Chris. Son is watching Kung Foo Panda as I type and Chris is STILL on Hold. We're talking of dropping AT&T and going with Data cards instead. *g* (We're annoyed right now.)
Um, what else? Son made another 100 on this weeks spelling test. YAY SON! Daughter is grounded. *sigh* I'm thinking of going on strike cleaning wise because I'm feeling a bit unappreciated. The cats are fine, crazy as ever. Oh, at the library today I dropped off books, I didn't find anything for once. BOO! I did put a book on swords on hold for Son. They still don't have Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb in circulation. I joked with the librarian this evening that I knew they were holding it and passing it around. He just grinned. *G* It's a good thing when the librarian knows you well enough to see you walk in and grabs your holds for you, isn't it? And knows you by name. *G*
A decent thing about not having the internet? I went a little nuts yesterday and read 4 books between yesterday afternoon and late last night.
1. Read My Lips by Teri Brown (a YA courtesy of a contest on Amy's blog.) I liked it, Daughter did, too. *g*
2. Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handeland (a new to me author). Urban Fantasy that was compelling, yet I'm not sure I like such a dark view.
3. Frankly My Dear, I'm Dead by Livia J. Washburn (a new to me author). The book started with wit and ended with a whimper.
4. Sugarplums and Scandal an anthology with Kerrelyn Sparks, Mary Daheim, Lori Avocato, Suzanne Macphearson, Dana Cameron, and Cait London. (some were new to me, authors, but not many.) Some were lighter in tone than others, all were entertaining.
Oh, and right now I'm reading Girls That Growl Marianne Mancusi (also courtesy of Amy.)

And that's about it. Chris is now ticked off. He was on hold and then the person he was talking with HUNG UP on him (I'm sure it was an accident, but wooo-boy!). This should be interesting.

I hope y'all had a lovely day today. I enjoyed our rain and unusual fog. What? It was cool! Literally. (Sorry. I'm tired. *G*) I wish a relaxing and pleasant Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: Not today. *sigh* I've been tired today.

So far so good!

I'll post a regular post tonight. Just wanted to let y'all know that my internet connection seems to be fixed with a few minor gliches. Kitty picks will return! *G*
The good news? I managed to read 4 books in the past two days. *G*

Internet Problems

We have internet problems tonight and I will post again when it is fixed (hopefully tomorrow if AT&T can get our connection fixed). B

Layla isn't usually this fond of my computer!

I took this picture sometime in the last couple of weeks. And it's funny. Out of all the computer parts that have been replaced on my computer, the keyboard hasn't been. But, can you imagine all the cat hair in there? *G* (Actually I try and clean it out every now and then.) You know, she makes it hard to type!

Agh! I may have to keeeeeellllll Chris. I woke up this morning with drainage, a sinus headache and a sore throat. If he's given me his cold (Making it my second cold in less than a month.) I'm going to have to hurt him. *g* AND he had the nerve to snore ALL NIGHT LONG. *sigh* I just can't handle snoring. I'm one of those weird people who have to have the fan and some light music on to block outside noises. But, can have no snoring. *sigh* I know. I'm weird. Are y'all like that?
I got a late start to my day because of all that, but we managed to get everything that needed to be done, done. I fully expected Chris to stay home this evening while I took the kids to RE, but he went with us. While the kids were in class we went to the library (In the other county.) and I picked up: Sizzle and Burn by Jayne Ann Krentz (a reread), Dead Over Heels an anthology by MaryJanice Davidson and Sugarplums and Scandal another antholgy-this one with Kerrelyn Sparks, Suzanne Macphearson, Lori Avocato, Cait London and Mary Daheim and Dana Cameron. I did read a book last night, The Magical Christmas Cat, the anthology. I really enjoyed the first and last story the most, I found them to be the most touching. I don't want to give many details.
After picking the kids back up we headed home where Chris helped me make dinner. It's been pretty quiet since then. *g* I've enjoyed watching a few of my favorite shows tonight. Bones and Life were pretty good! I LOVE the show Life and am not happy with all the time changes they've given it since the season began in September. They better stop! *G*
And I'm done. I have nothing else to talk about! *G* I hope that y'all had a good day, filled with good books filled with good story's. *g* I wish y'all a wonderful Thursday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Not today, day off. (Because there was no time today! *G*)

Even more proof he's weird!

Here is even more proof that Midnight is weird. Here he is, in the cat carrier that we usually only get out to take the kitties to the Vet. Yet Daughter took it out of the closet the other evening and Midnight crawled in and wouldn't get out. (Oreo took off upstairs and we didn't see her the rest of the evening. *G*) He even swatted at the other kitties who were interested in the carrier. Yup, there he is, our big GOOBER!
Today did not start well. I woke up early this morning with my acid reflux (and by early I mean around 4am) and popped tums like crazy and that was on top of the pill I take every night at bedtime thanks to my Doc. *sigh* I sat up and managed to fall back asleep for a bit longer but did NOT want to get up today. Add Chris being sick on top of all that, because he went in late today.
Late this afternoon/early this evening, the kids and I went to the library where I picked up The Magical Christmas Cat (an anthology) with Lora Leigh, Erin McCarthy, Nalini Singh and Linda Winstead Jones. (Magic, cats, and romance. What's not to like? *G*) I also picked up A Conventry Christmas by Becky Cochrane. After that the kids and I headed to the Y where I had TurboKick this evening. Daughter even worked out for a bit, but wasn't really dressed (jeans) for it, so stopped and watched my class. After the class I headed for the weight machines and Daughter was curious, so she tried a few, too. And the best part? She didn't laugh at me while I was in class. *G*
Daughter and I picked Son up at Childwatch and then the kids and I headed to the grocery store to pick up note-cards for Son(they help him study for Spelling tests), and Sprite for Chris. Then we headed home where I made homemade vegetarian pizza's. My favorite had tomato and jalapeno's. *G* Yum!
And now I have even more books to read (always a good thing) and no idea which one to start, because I haven't had time to read in a day or two. That sounds like a pathetic excuse doesn't it? I know, I know. I need to MAKE the time to read. Hopefully tonight.......
Which leaves me to say goodnight. I hope that y'all had a nice day. That your health is well and if not that y'all are getting healthier as the moments go by (DRU!). I wish y'all an enjoyable and smile-filled Wednesday.
(And no, I didn't post a Veteran's Day Post. I'm sorry, I should have, Hubs is my local Veteran. I don't think I could do service in thanking all those men and women who have fought for our rights and those all over the world. So, I'll just say "Thank you for all you've done". ) Goodnight and God Bless, B.
Exercise: 45 minutes TurboKick and 25 minutes of weights.

The Handsome Brothers!

I'm not sure how we managed to get a picture of the brothers taken together. Chris said that it even looked as though they posed for it! *g* And the white thing they're laying on? Yeah, that's me. *G* (And not a bad pic considering it was taken with my cell phone.)

I thought today would be a return to routine. I was wrong. Chris came home sick from work about 1pm. *sigh* I love the man but I still went to Yoga, broke a toe, homeschooled my kids, dealt with a computer repairman and ran my household with a cold! He kinda threw my schedule off today, but everything is okay. And I went ahead and went to Yoga tonight, so that helped. *G* (And yes, I am taking care of him.)
I finished the Hialeah Jackson book. The ending was a bit confusing and weird, but I guess it was to set up a recurring protagonist. I'm still deciding which book to read next. I still have a couple of library books left. AND I'm STILL waiting for my library to add Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb to circulation. *sigh* I'm betting that some of the librarians are reading the copies. *G* I just want to read it......! *G*
Healing wishes and hugs to Dru tonight.

Nothing else to share this evening. Sorry. It's been a slow, looooong boring day. *G* I hope that y'all had a good day, one filled with smiles and good books. I wish y'all a low-key and happy Tuesday. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 1 Hour Yoga.

Further Proof......

Here is further proof that Midnight is a Goober. Chris came home from work Friday evening, leaned over my chair to give me a kiss and Midnight crawled up on his back! He wanted his Daddy to pet him. *G*
Today has been pretty quiet, but also a busy day for me. Sunday is no day of rest around here! Daughter had a couple of tests that she didn't want to take on Friday so, she did them today. Son played outside most the day and I? Well, I ironed, did multiple loads of laundry vacummed and cleaned off the ceiling fans. *g* And I made dinner. *g* I meant to polish the furniture, too. But, became sidetracked by my computer. *g* I'll do it sometime tomorrow.
Chris called from work this afternoon, he was sniffling and coughing. He's caught a cold. *sigh* I love the man, but he's such a baby when he's sick! What is up with that? Son doesn't slow down enough to admit to anyone he's sick and Chris is in his chair right now with a washcloth over his eyes, a box of tissue next to him and snoring. I'm sure he'll feel better, and don't worry. I'm taking care of him. *g*
Have you ever thought about the food you grew up with? I was reading a blog today about regional foods. I think I may be a bit weird in that I grew up Southern, but don't cook foods the "Southern" way, meaning frying everything. *G* My Mom was from MA and she didn't really know how to fry alot of the Southern foods my Dad grew up with. I STILL don't get cooking maccaroni and cheese in a crockpot. And with eggs! Ewwwww! Are there foods that you grew up with that are central to that location? Here? Fried Chicken (I can't eat it.), Maccaroni and Cheese, Coconut Cake, fried okra (ugh!), greens (ugh!), and also grits. I admit, I like grits. *G* And to make y'all laugh. Did I ever tell y'all that though I was born and raised here, I am often asked where I'm from? I think it's because of my mother, I was NOT allowed to use words like "ain't" or "cain't". I also pronounce words a bit different than others here. *g*
I haven't had time to read today. I hope to cuddle up with a book at bedtime. *g* Thank goodness tomorrow is Monday. I am SO looking forward to tomorrow. It's sad. When I was a kid I couldn't wait for the weekend. Now? I want the weekend over with, thankyouverymuch. *g*
I hope y'all spent a relaxing and peaceful day. I wish a stress-free return to normalcy (*G*) for Monday. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: Nope. *sigh* Thank goodness for yoga tomorrow!

A full day!

One of these pictures is of the kitties this evening. Daughter put Midnight on his leash and let him go out for a bit and then wanted to know what it would be like if one of the other cats could lead him around. Do you see the problem? *g* Midnight decided he wasn't going to cooperate and layed down on the floot. She put the handle of the leash around Butterscotch's neck (It was loose enough to to slip on and off easily.) Butterscotch tried to eat it and then Fireball decided he wanted in on the fun and tried to pick up and eat the leash as well. When all of a sudden Midnight had enough, got up and started to walk away. Which brought the leash up and over Fireball's head, who freaked out and ran up the stairs, which freaked Butterscotch out and he ran so quickly up the stairs he jerked Midnights collar off. (Safety release collar.) Daughter and I looked at each other and just. cracked. up. I laughed so hard I started to cough and Daughter laughed until I told her to go get the leash and put it up. But, first she had to chase Butterscotch all over the house to get the leash back!
The other picture is of what I did this evening. *g* I had a craving for something sweet so decided to make cookies. I didn't want to use all of the kids peanut butter to make that kind of cookies and wasn't in the mood for homemade 'Nilla Wafers, so decided on chocolate chip. Only, we didn't have any chocolate chips! So, I raided Daughters Halloween candy stash for all of her Hershey Bars, cut them up into little pieces and made milk chocolate chunk cookies! *g* And they came out yummy! *g* I made the batter while dinner was cooking and then made the cookies after we ate.
As for today? We've been busy. We visited the UBS this afternoon where I picked up Ralphie's Wives by Christine Rimmer (a new-to-me author), the premise sounded interesting combining a bit of romance and mystery. But, it will have to wait because right now I am reading The Alligator's Farewell by Hialeah Jackson. It's interesting and one of the characters is definitely quirky! The mystery is a bit hard to follow right now, but that's because I haven't read much. *G*
Before the UBS we went to Steve&Barry's because Chris needed some new slacks for work (dress down days) and he wanted to try there. He ended up buying a pair of gray courdauroys(sp), and for a good deal. We headed to Mass early and let Son burn some energy on the playground outside for a half hour. After Mass we headed to the grocery store for cola's and for Son some toaster streudal (I swear this kid insists on the same thing EVERY SINGLE DAY to eat for breakfast. *g*) and bought some gas for the Jeep and then HOME. YAY! Chris and I were both so happy to arrive home. We've decided today was Drive Like A Moron Day. First today there was the guy who drove like he was drunk. (Chris called and reported him.) Then there was the two different drivers that cut us off and then on the way home there was a person who drove up the wrong way in the parking lot almost hitting us just because they wanted a parking space up front. *sigh* And it's not even the Holiday's yet! Ack!
But, we're home. Safe and sound, thank goodness. I have much to do before bed, so am getting off line. I hope y'all had a pleasant and safe day. I wish y'all a peaceful Sunday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: Not today either. *sigh* Maybe tomorrow.

He's smarter than he looks!

I've told y'all before of Midnight and how smart he is, but how much of a goober he is, right? He plays with ice, he likes to walk on a leash and I swear can say (what sounds like) the word "out". He has a new trick. I placed childproof outlet plugs (the little plastic ones) on every one of our outlets when we bought our house because Son was still a toddler at that point. We noticed the other day that a few were missing. I asked the kids, they hadn't taken them out. I asked Chris, same answer. Today we happened to hear a "snick-snick-snick" noise. I turned around and there is Midnight using his claws to PULL THE OUTLET PLUG OUT OF THE OUTLET! The Stinker! The GOOBER! It's official and I'm betting I won't get any arguments that we have the WEIRDEST CATS EVER!
I am SO happy todays tests for Son are over. *sigh* At one point writing his book review he was in tears. It made me feel so bad. And the reason? He had to answer two questions at the end of his review. Did he like the book? And if he did why? And if he didn't why not? He said he liked the book. When I asked him why he liked it he couldn't say. And then wanted me to tell him what to write. *sigh* I had to remind him that this was to be from him, in his words. He started to cry that he's been writing a lot and didn't know what to write. Poor baby. He finally found something to 'say' and wrote it down and was ever so happy to be DONE with his tests. Tell me about it! *g*
Other than that we haven't had much to do today. I've done load after load of laundry today and been playing around on the computer. *g* Chris and I made dinner together, meaning I chopped and cooked and he cleaned up. *G* Now I'm contemplating what book to read next since I finished Elvis and The Dearly Departed by Peggy Webb last night. The book was hilarious! If you like cozy mysteries this book is fabulous, funny and not to be missed. *g* I can not wait to read another in this new series. (But, I can find no news on when the next will be out. Darnit!)
Nothing else to share today, sorry. It was a pretty boring day. *g* I hope that y'all had a great Friday, one filled with good books and laughs. I wish a relaxing and pleasurable Saturday for y'all. Goodnight, B.
Exercise: Not today.

A good day all around!

Please excuse the quality of these pictures, both were made with my cell phone camera. *G* You know I've told y'all how Midnight likes to play with ice? Well, he's not the only one. Oreo likes to play with the ice as well and last night was using a piece as a toy around the floor in my kitchen! Here she is hiding behind the draperies in my kitchen. Isn't she a funny girl? *G*
It's been weird weather wise here today. We made it to 78 degrees! I thought it was Fall? I had to change out of my sweats today into shorts! But, we're expecting a cool down by the weekend, thank goodness.
As for the other picture? Well, it's been a good book day! *g* My library got in two of my holds today and while there I picked up a few more. I brought home: The House on Tradd Street by Karen White (new-to-me-author), Frankly My Dear, I'm Dead by Livia J. Washburn (new-to-me-author) Home For the Holidays by Lisa Plumley, Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handeland (I've read a few of her stories in anthologies) and The Alligator's Farewell by Hialeah Jackson (a new-to-me-author that Tori has been reading *G*.). I also brought home Leatherheads (movie). Chris has been wanting to see this and my hold finally came in!
After the visit to the library we headed to the Y (as usual) where I arrived before Chris. I decided this time I was going to work out on the treadmill. My fanny can't take more of that bike! *G* While I was on I started reading Elvis and The Dearly Departed by Peggy Webb. I didn't get a chance last night and was eager to dive in. And I almost fell off the treadmill and I'm sure earned some weird looks because I was snickering and giggling while reading it! I will say that it features a Bassett Hound named Elvis who is his own character. *g* After the treadmill I tried one of the other bikes with different seats, but I'm not sure I'm made for bikes! *g* And then I worked out with the weight machines. After that home and Salad with chicken for dinner. YUM! (I had to add meat to the salads because Chris and Daughter are definite carnivores and want their meat! *g*) But, at least they ate quite a few veggies! *G*
Oh, I forgot to mention that Son took 3 tests today and has two more tomorrow. (One being the book review he has to write.) Daughters tests are all tomorrow. I was pleasantly surprised when Son breezed right through his math and another test!
That's all from here. It's been a pretty nice day. *knock on wood* *G* I hope that y'all have had as equally a nice day. I wish a FUN, FABULOUS and FANTASTIC Friday! *G* Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: 38 minutes on the treadmill, 6 minutes on the bike (ouch!) and then another half hour on the weights. (I added a new machine today.)

Another Oldie but Cutie!

This picture was made two years ago, not long after Athena joined our family. Doesn't she look like the fierce warrior she was named for? The evening we brought her home we set her down in the LR and the other cats crowded around her, trying to get her scent. She was this tiny little kitten, in a strange place with strange people (Although, she was a rescue.) and raised up on her hind legs and pawed at them as though boxing. They all backed off and that's when we knew she deserved her name. *g*

Today has been kinda busy. We're still doing reviewing and studying for the kids tests this week and Son is BORED with all the reviewing. I wondering if I should just give him his tests and be done with it! *G* Today was also Chris' day off. Good news is he cleaned the bathrooms without me even asking! YAY! And I didn't have to do it! YAY! *g* When the kids were done we headed to Sam's Club. Not for groceries but because Daughter tried on last years winter coat Monday evening and it was too short in the arms. By at least 3 inches. *sigh* And Daughter and I had just looked at coats at Sam's this past weekend. *g* She wanted leather, but I'm not buying a leather coat for a kid who can't remember to hang her coat up and grows like a weed. At least until she stops growing! We ended up picking a down filled, ivory colored (WASHABLE, WOO!) coat. A WOMENS coat. *sigh* This kid has to slow down with all the growing soon. Doesn't she? (I'm lying to myself, aren't I? *g*)
After that we took the kids to RE, but were about half an hour early so Son got to burn some energy off at the playground before class and Daughter was able to chat with her friends from her class. While the kids were in RE Chris and I headed to BAMM where I picked up the latest issue of RT magazine. And then we ran back to pick the kids up. Add in a trip to WW to pick up dryer sheets and then home. I am never as happy as when I'm at home with my shoes off. *g*
It's now after dinner, after tv and about time for bed. I haven't forgotten I've been tagged by Rottie_Mom, though! *G* So, here goes:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Six Random Facts about me:
1. I am mildly OCD. *g* I like things neat and in place. Papers must be stacked in neat piles and I don't like alot of things on my kitchen counter. I still don't like the toaster oven sitting on my counter! (Chris' idea, I wanted a regular toaster.)
2. I'm scary shy. This made it really hard when I was a part of an Accapello singing group.
3. I learned how to play the piano, guitar, and drums. BUT, the instrument I prefer the most? My voice. Oh, and I want to learn to play the celtic harp.
4. I've been married to Chris almost half my life.
5. I'm lazy in the kitchen. I don't like recipes that take hours. If I find one I want to try that takes too long I re-invent it. (Usually to good results. *g*)
6. I am a bundle of off-beat information. I know the weirdest things that I remember from reading 15 years ago. But, I can rarely remember my home phone number or how old I am.

I could tag someone, but will leave it up to y'all! If you'd like to do this meme please do so and let me know! *G*

Now, I could have gone with the fact that I am a bibliophile, but y'all already know that and are yourselves! *g* I could have told how I taught my Son the Jingle Bells Batman Smells song, but I'm really proud of that. *G* (Actually, I'm proud when I can make my six year old laugh and that was one of those times. *G*) I could have stated something about how I love cats, but c'mon! Y'all know me! I adore my kitties!

Well, my friends. It's time for me to head to bed. I hope y'all had a productive and pleasant day. I wish a fun and optimistic Thursday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Nope, my day off! Back at it tomorrow!
P.S. I reread the Springwater Wedding book last night, it was still as good as I remembered. I think I'll tackle the "Elvis" book tonight.

Another photo from last week!

I know I post a lot of photo's of Layla. But, she's so pretty. And so sweet, most the time. And best of all, for some reason she loves me! *g* This was the only way I could check my email. Good thing I had my contacts in to be able to read that far away! *G* (Btw, she snores, too.)
Today has been packed with studying again. However, Son did take one of his quarterly tests today, so one down- six more to go. *sigh* (That's including the book review he has to write for his reading course.)
(Please excuse any errors in typing this evening. My hands won't warm up! *g*)
We did make it to the library this evening and I now have 3 books: Mystery Date edited by Denise Little (Devon recommended another book by her last week, but my library doesn't have it, so........), Springwater Wedding by Linda Lael Miller (a reread for me) and Elvis and the Dearly Departed by Peggy Webb (A new to me author. It's a mystery that sounded funny.)
I also wanted to let y'all know I finished the other book last night. (I'm not listing the title or authors so I don't get nasty comments by either their fans or themselves, and yes it's happened before.) Jace asked me to let y'all know my opinion of it, so here goes. *G* The first story seemed a bit disjointed, but was saved by the Ghost and River Nymph. The ghost cracked me up! The second story was pretty good. The third story was FABULOUS, FANTASTIC! I laughed and at moments it brought tears to my eyes! The last story was good, but over-used "girlfriend" as a phrase and it became annoying. All in all, I'd buy the book again just for the third story.
After leaving the library we headed to the Y (of course) where we met Chris. I decided to try the bike he's been raving about. I decided on a 4 mile course and about half a mile into it my fanny HURT. They do not make those bike seats for women! Ouch! But, I stuck it out and finished in 22 minutes. Since Chris wasn't done yet, I hopped on the elyptical. After he was done we headed for the weight machines. He still gets tired after biking, so he only did a few machines, while I did my whole loop of the machines I'm familiar with.
Chris finished and passed his last class. Yay! Um, what else? OOh, we tried a new recipe for us this evening. Chicken and cheese enchiladas. We used to make these with beef, but I wanted to cut down on the fat and red meat, so I tried a new made up recipe. (Made with 2% cheese.) They came out yummy! And Daughter shared a box of her Milk Duds with me for dessert. *g*
To be honest. It's been a slow day here. I've been exceptionally tired today and am pushing through by pure will alone. I'm not sleeping well again and think that's part of the problem. ANYWAY, I hope y'all have had a nice day. I wish y'all a low-key, happy Wednesday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: 22 minutes on the bike. (On the bike you choose courses and I chose a mountain coastal course. Which when you go up a hill on those things? Yeah, it FEELS like you're pedaling up a hill. Whew!) 10 minutes on the elyptical and then another 25-30 minutes on the weight machines.

The Ultimate Temptation for the brothers!

Sunday I was in my bedroom ironing and because I get hot when I have a lot of ironing to do, I opened a window next to me to get some cooler air. It was a HUGE temptation for the brothers, they love to sit in the window and look outside. And, for a few moments, they were able to be within a foot of the iron and it's magic and scary steam. *G* I have no idea why all the cats are scared of the ironing board and iron, but for a few moments they were able to forget. And then they got scared again, jumped out of the window and ran out of the room! *g* (Fireball on the left and Butterscotch on the right.)
Today has been pretty busy. We started schoolwork, took a break for lunch, started back and then had my eye appointment, returned home and finished schoolwork. Now, I do have a question. When you go to a Doctors appointment and your appointment is for, say, 2pm, and the Doctors office goes to lunch from 1pm-2pm, when you walk up to the door do you not expect the door to be unlocked at five minutes after 2? (After standing out there for that 5 minutes waiting for them to unlock the darn door!) And to then HAVE said appointment instead of having to wait until 2:30 because there are vendors there to see the Doctor? Why not just schedule the appoinment for later (for the benefit of the office.)? I just don't get when it became acceptable to have to wait that long. My time is valuble too! BUT, it's over and done with for another year. (Well, mine is anyway. Daughter goes on Thursday.) And for all that? My eyes haven't changed enough to change either my eyeglass prescription, nor my contact prescription. Especially since my eyes are so bad that the contact prescription no longer goes in quarter increments, but halves. *G* I am 7.00 because I'm really 7.25. BUT, they don't make a 7.25 only a 7.50, which is too strong for me and would give me major headaches. I have enough of those now, thankyouverymuch. Ack, enough of this boring stuff!
What else? Oh, this week is quarterly test week for the kids. Today was a study day. Six year olds do not understand the concept of studying. *G* But, he's still doing well. He has to write a book review at the end of the week. That will be an exercise on patince for the both of us.
I finished the first story in the Mysteria Lane anthology. I really enjoyed it! Especially the water nymph in love with a ghost. *G*
We went to the Y as usual for a Monday evening. My fav Yoga teacher was replaced tonight by my least favorite. She actually makes me NOT enjoy yoga as much on the nights she teaches. It's just the way she approaches everything. If you're a beginner (I am not, but still!) you are lost. She doesn't give clear instructions and leaves parts out. She doesn't show alternatives for those who may be physically incapable to do some of the poses and she offers no encouragement. Unlike the other teacher! *sigh* In good news Chris made it up there and worked out on the bike. Thank goodness because if he doesn't lose a bit of weight soon and stop snoring I'm going to be accused of abusing him because he'll go to work black and blue from me shoving him everytime he snores! LOL! Seriously, I don't shove him that hard. And he doesn't remember it anyway. *g* No, really. I woke him up one morning very early (like 3am-4am) to ask if he'd remembered to put the trash at the curb. He hadn't and went downstairs, took it up to the curb, locked the door, went back to sleep and got up later that morning to get ready for work and didn't remember a minute of it! *g*
It's time for me to go. I have nightly chores to do and a snoring husband to wake up and tell to go to bed. *G* I hope y'all had a nice Monday. That there was something pleasant about your day. I wish a stress-free and enjoyable Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
Exercise: 1 Hour Yoga.

Nooooo, I didn't want to get on the computer Layla!

Sometimes it can be hard to get on the computer! Layla decided she didn't want to share attention with computer Friday while Daughter was finishing her tests. *G* And yes, I have to clean cat hair off my keyboard quite often. *G*

Tomorrow I have an eye exam appoinment and while I no longer flinch because of the puff of air (my Doc doesn't do that test anymore) I hate the part where I have to take my contacts out and the world loses focus. It's only for a short time, but long enough to make me feel less confident. See, (Ha! Bad pun!) I am legally blind without my contacts or glasses. As in can't even tell you what you look like unless you're 4 inches from my face. *G* Luckily he won't be able to dilate my eyes because I have to drive home! WOOT! (Hey, I'll take good news where I can.)

Now onto other news. *G* Not that there's much to tell. Today while Chris was at work I ironed (Again? Geez! *g*), did laundry, cleaned and took the kids (six in all, counting my two) to the park up the road. They now have the waterfall working and it was lovely to listen to while the kids played. While there I thought I would have time to read, but I was too worried about not being vigilant enough watching the kids, so my book never left my purse. I hope I have time tonight when we go to bed! Some days it's easier finding time than others.

After we arrived back home and Chris arrived home he started dinner. YAY! I didn't have to cook. It's not that I don't like cooking, it's that I hardly ever get a break from cooking! *g* Tomorrow, despite the eye exam it's back to routine. Ahhhh, routine! I look forward to Mondays. I can't wait to go to Yoga tomorrow night, either. *G*

Time for those pesky night time chores, and I have to clip Chris' hair. I hope that y'all have had a peaceful Sunday. I wish y'all a return to your usual Monday, with hope for a pleasant, low-key day. Goodnight and God Bless, B.

Exercise: Up hill to the park, does that count? *G* Back to Yoga tomorrow night, YAY!

Just so y'all know. I am being shameless and begging Cynthia to win a copy of her next fabulous book, MIdnight Sins! I read
Hotter After Midnight by her earlier this year and LOVED IT. So, Y'all will understand why I'm begging, right? *G*

Daughter's Sparklies!

I thought I'd show y'all Daughters new shoes. The ones that are a size 11! They're as sparkly as a disco ball and reflect light like you wouldn't believe! *g* And best of all? She really, really likes them.
Did I mention Daughter went out of here for trick-or-treating last night wearing black nail polish and lipstick? The lipstick is gone today, but she's decided she likes the black nail polish and is still wearing it. *G* I don't mind.
Today has been slamming with errands. We went to Mass and then headed to Target, then on to Lowe's for a screw to fix a foot on the treadmill, then to Kohls where we picked up Son some jammies. (They sent me a coupon for a percentage off and then had a huge sale, too!) while there we also snuck two Christmas gift purchases under Daughters nose. *G* (A pair of earrings and a ring. She likes sterling silver and they had a HUGE sale on their silver jewelry.) Then, FINALLY, we headed to WW to pick up the rest of our groceries for the next two weeks. I also went ahead and picked up our turkey for Thanksgiving because grocery stores get weird the closer to a Holiday you get.
As for reading, I haven't had much time to do so today. However, I have started Mysteria Lane, an anthology with MaryJanice Davidson, Gena Showalter, P.C Cast and Susan Grant. I'm still in the first story and so far it's rockin'. *G*
I'm about to drop because I'm tired, so I'm headed to bed. I hope y'all had a relaxing and pleasant Saturday. I wish y'all a peaceful and restful Sunday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.
Exercise: Not today, too busy running errands.
