Two Brothers On Top!

I am REALLY bad at post titles, sorry! *g* But, I just had to share this picture I took today of the two brothers, Fireball and Butterscotch, on top of the kitchen cabinets. It's actually become unusual to see them sleep this close together anymore. Each tries to assert dominance over the other after they've spent time with each other. They look like bookends up there!

A very, very long day. I had a Eye exam this morning and didn't sleep well because of worrying about not waking up for it. Weird, I know. But, the appointment went well. My contact prescription has not changed enough to warrant a new prescription (At my strong a prescription they don't go up in .25 measures, only .50.), but my eye glass prescription changed. However, I haven't updated my lenses in three years just because I don't do well wearing glasses. (It a peripheral vision issue.) Our vision insurance changed this year and I am NOT happy with the change. I miss our old insurance. We're thinking since three of us have vision problems that we might want to invest in supplemental insurance next year. (Chris has better than 20/20 vision-Stinker!) I got to "Play" the wiggle line 'game' again. *g* And he checked my pressure in my eyes as well as examined me as if I had been dilated (though I wouldn't). He said since I had blue eyes I'm more sensitive to light and therefore he could get a good look, just not a great look. *g* But, it was sufficient and I was good to go!

After the eye exam the kids and I dropped off materials at the library and then headed home where we tackled schoolwork, had lunch, I took care of laundry and we kept an eye on Wicket. All too soon it was time to drop Daughter at the Pine Y and Son and I headed home and did more schoolwork and played with Wicket. Oh, and don't worry. We place Wicket in a LARGE pet carrier before we leave the house, we know the other cats can't be trusted with her safety.
We picked Daughter up and drove to the MT Y and I worked out and then Daughter and I took Yoga class. Chris went straight home from work, he didn't feel like working out and it was okay because he could let Wicket out of her carrier and let her eat and potty. *g*

This evening after the kids and I arrived home Chris and I made dinner together and talked about an issue that has come up. Bio-Dad wants to meet and we've been emailing and talking on the phone regularly, so I'm nervous, but okay with it. He's picked this weekend. And suggested buying me lunch. However, I'm not comfortable with him doing that. So, we need to figure out where this will take place. But, the kids and the kitten complicate matters. *sigh* Any suggestions?

As for reading I am almost done with Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Crusie, Anne Stuart, and Lani Diane Rich. The first time I read this book I was aware of the three different "voices" of the authors, but this time? It's very apparent to me which passages Crusie wrote. Her author's voice is just so distinctive, but not in a bad way! *g*

And that's all from me. I am past exhausted and am typing through blurry eyes. I hope y'all had a stress-free day! I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8 miles on stationary bike at level 11 (One of these days I WILL conquer level 12.) and 1 hour Yoga.

A Gathering of the Round Table!

Ha! Bet you thought with that title this would have something to do with Arthurian legend. *g* Nope, it just refers to the five cats who decided that they would enjoy gathering on the kitchen table-for no reason in particular. And just to reassure you, I wash this table down SEVERAL times a day beginning with when I first step into the kitchen each day. Clockwise we have Butterscotch, Patches, Midnight, Layla and Fireball. It's very rare for all of them to be in the same room at the same time-especially when no food is present. *g*

It's definitely been a long day. My hands and wrists have been bothering me for the last few days, so I didn't accomplish all I wanted to do. However, enough was done to keep me from freaking out. We left early this afternoon and went to the family lunch. We left Wicket in a HUGE pet carrier I have. Don't worry, we let her play and fed her before we left. And she had her teddy bear and a blanket to sleep on. It made me cringe when she meowed to be let out and play with us as we left. The lunch went well, Chris' mac and cheese was a hit and thank goodness someone had brought ham, because unless it's cooked way different I don't want any turkey right now. (This is why we either cook a ham or cornish hens for Christmas.) I was good and didn't eat a lot, but I was kind of lucky that there wasn't a dessert there I wanted. *g*
After the luncheon we headed home, stopping by and picking Son up some chicken tenders because the child refused to eat anything at the luncheon.
After arriving home we discovered that some male cat had sprayed our storm door (one of the hazards of feeding strays) and I scrubbed the storm door, under the door jam outside and the front mat. I even took a bucket of hot soapy water and ended up scrubbing the siding on the front porch and sweeping the water off the porch.
After that Chris agreed to take a walk with me and we walked all through our neighborhood. We chatted with a couple of nice people and marveled at the weirdness of others. (One person in our neighborhood decided to PAINT THEIR DRIVEWAY. Luckily that's a street over. The person is loony.) This was a nice neighborhood when we moved in and still is in most respects, but we don't have a homeowners association (Someone tried to start one about two years ago and it was fought and lost momentum.) and the original builder sold the remaining lots to another builder. It's all a mess when you think of the houses that were built right at the moment the housing market went downhill. There are ten houses for sale in our neighborhood total. It's sad. One couple gave up and moved anyway without selling their house and another rented their house out and then their renters moved out and the yard is now overgrown. We did have a few laughs. One house we passed had a pug mix and a bulldog and they called out to us to let us know that the dogs were friendly-the bulldog has his own basketball that he carries around! *g* One street backs onto pasture land-there were cows in the pasture and we can hear those cows moo on a quiet evening. *g* When I tell y'all we live in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time close between two cities-I'm not kidding. *g*
After our walk we walked home and Chris made dinner-stir fried turkey with peppers and onion, so good. Teriyaki sauce and turkey go well together. *g*
We watched a few episodes of an NCIS marathon on tv and the headed upstairs where I ironed Chris' clothes for the week and finished up some laundry. It's now time to get some sleep!

I hope y'all had a peaceful and restful Sunday. I wish a low-key and pleasing Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: I don't know what to classify scrubbing the front porch? But, I know how to count our walk! *g*

Precious!

We love each and every one of our cats. And we take very good care of them, no cheap cat food here, not to mention all the toys we buy for them. Wicket's favorite toys? Our fingers and toes and she finds this bear comforting. At one time this bear was Son's and then Fireball's when he was a kitten. The bear hasn't seen much attention since them, but he's up to the task of comforting yet another kitten. Wicket usually sleeps either draped over this bear, or snuggled behind it.

It's been a loooong day. MIL gave Chris money to take the kids to the movies since her back is bothering her, but she still wanted the kids to go see the new Harry Potter movie, knowing how much both kids like the series. Since she doesn't really care about the series anyway, I think she was happy that Chris wanted to see the movie, too. *g* So, this afternoon Chris took the kids to the movies and I went to the MT Y to work out and then headed to Target to pick up some Christmas gifts for the kids. I took Son's list with me, as I know Daughter's by heart, and had trouble finding most everything on it. So, I improvised for one thing, I picked him up a Lego board game-the Minotaur one. I also picked up what I thought was the correct Omnitrex from Ben-10 for him, but Daughter informed me tonight that I picked up the wrong one. *sigh* I tried. That just means I have to go back and return it and try and find the one he wants. I picked up Daughter a pair of earrings (My karate loving Daughter loves to bling out her ears.) and a movie she loves. Plus, I picked up several stocking stuffers for them while I was out. I stopped in Petsmart after Target (right next door) looking for kitten formula since we were out, but they didn't carry the kind we've been giving her and the price of what they did have was more than what we've been paying. However, they did have our cats food on sale! Yay! The sad part of the trip was that the front part of the store was host to a pet adoption weekend for cats. They were all so beautiful and sweet and I felt so very sad to see so many needing homes. I know it sounds silly, but I said a prayer that each one finds a loving home.
After Petsmart I quickly dropped by WW and picked up some more kitten formula and headed home to feed the kitten and let her out of her carrier so she could play. And play she does! She's becoming very comfortable with us and her surroundings and romped everywhere. I started placing her in the litter box every 15 minutes or so and she's been using the box. I immediately scoop out whatever she does so that the other cats won't have a fit, not to mention it's just a better practice to be doing right now.
I wasn't home 5 minutes before Chris called and said the movie was over and they were heading home. So, I fed the kitten and played with her and waited for them to arrive. When they did Chris and I sat and finished our "menu" for the next two weeks and made a list of what we needed and as an experiment we left the kids at home and went to WW. (WW is about 15 minutes from our house.) I call this an experiment because Chris and I have been invited to a Holiday party next weekend and are thinking of letting the kids stay home by themselves. Daughter is old enough to babysit and has taken CPR and first aid, so I thought maybe it was time to see how responsible she can be. The good news? They were fine, the house was fine and she and Son didn't fight. Shocker! For an hour or two, it works. And we feel a bit more comfortable about having Daughter babysit Son next weekend.
Tomorrow we have a family dinner to attend and on one hand we're fine with it and on another I have a lot of things to take care of tomorrow and just don't feel like going. But, family is important and we're going to please the Out-laws.
As for reading? Believe it or not, I have a couple of library books left to read and yet I picked a keeper off my shelves. I'm reading Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Crusie, Anne Stuart and Lani Diane Rich. I'm enjoying rereading it. *g* And will go back and read my library books soon.

That's all from me tonight. It's very late and I need to get some sleep. I hope y'all had an amusing and enjoyable day. I wish a blessed and restful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 30 minutes stationary bike @ level 11, 30 minutes weights, 10 minutes sit-ups.

Patches thinks we've lost our minds!

See this look? This is the "Have y'all lost your ever lovin' minds?" look. And no, she's not happy to have a new kitty in the house. However, she's cut down on her hissing today, so I think we're making progress. *g*

I have done NOTHING much at all today. For some reason I've been really tired for the last two days and have actually rested. Well, and taken care of laundry, made dinner and cleaned up around the house. BUT, I did rest today. I had a "rest buddy", too. Wicket decided I was her new very-best-friend-ever today. I think it's because I have been feeding her today and playing with her and letting her nap in my lap. She's turning into quite the lap baby. I think she likes the body heat. And while older cats may be loners, or do well with a buddy cat, kittens are pack animals. Wicket is happiest when she's sleeping on someone. *g* And no, Layla was not happy with me today, but Daughter wanted to play with her friends this afternoon and she went to a football game with her best friend tonight. Chris took Son to a local grocery store that rents Wii games and we rented him one because he wanted to go to the football game, too. But, we feel he's too young and know Daughter wouldn't watch him and that he would ultimately be bored. When you're a girl in H.S. and you attend a H.S. football game with your best friend-chances are you aren't just going to watch the game. *g*
As for dinner? Well, I don't mind turkey one day, but I can't handle the exact same meal in leftovers afterwards (funny enough, it's only Thanksgiving I have this problem with), so I made use of the leftover turkey and made turkey enchiladas. YUM! Chris liked them, too, as did Daughter when she ate when she arrived home. *g* (Chris had been hoping for an extra one-thinking maybe Daughter would only want one. Yeah, no. Poor Chris. *g*)

I haven't read again today. Kitten sitting actually takes paying attention. *g* She's so small and can fit almost anywhere-including under our couch or under the chest in the LR that weighs a ton, so I've watched her like a hawk today when she wasn't sleeping. And when she was? She was in my lap and I'm such a sap I was afraid to move her to get my book out of my computer bag. Yeah, I know, I'm goofy. Hopefully, I'll have a bit more time to read tomorrow.

Hopefully, I'll also get a chance to run to the Y to work out tomorrow as well. I wanted to take a walk today but it rained and was wet and gray out all day and I was so tired, on top of kitten sitting. Tomorrow, the Y will be getting a visit.

I hope y'all had a good Black Friday. Did y'all go shopping? Does this begin y'alls Holiday shopping, or had you already started, or will you wait a bit longer? I wish y'all an enjoyable and amusing Saturday. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Not today, crossing my fingers I can get to the Y tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Those of y'all on Facebook have seen this picture by now. I posted it tonight after I fed Wicket this afternoon (baby kitten bottle) and she fell asleep in my arms. I'm trying to teach Daughter how to feed her, but I guess it takes a lot of practice because she can't get Wicket to eat so far, but I can. I fed her again this evening and she fell asleep again and I held her for almost an hour as she slept. She was just too precious to wake up by putting her down. And yeah, we are all soft-hearted. Btw, with the addition of Wicket to our household I am pretty sure we've turned into the crazy people with too many cats. Don't tell anyone, okay? *g* Also? I've seen squirrels bigger than this kitten. And maybe a hamster or two as well. *g* And I am very grateful we're able to take care of her.

So, I hope y'all had a festive and Happy Thanksgiving! We did, though we choose to eat later in the day than most. However, Chris made homemade cinnamon rolls this morning-Yum! And he also made dinner today. We picked our favorites to have for dinner and they were all Chris' specialties. *g* Though we were good and didn't make too many different foods. Our menu consisted of Turkey *g*, dressing (or stuffing as it's also called), gravy, macaroni and cheese, garlic green beans, yeast rolls, cranberry sauce and chocolate eclair dessert for.. dessert. *g* I was very, very good. (Have I told y'all I've gone down a dress size? I have no idea of weight lost-no scales for me, I'm too OCD about things like that.) I was good until dessert. I, um, may have had two servings. Yikes! And I've remembered why I only make this dessert once or twice a year. *g* I have a hard time saying  no to it. *g* Did y'all have a good dinner? I hope so! What's your favorite dessert?

This afternoon the Out-laws dropped by for a while. There's a family dinner on Sunday and we've been asked to bring the rolls for the second year in a row. I was teasing MIL when I asked her why they didn't like us to cook. *g* She said forget rolls, bring a dish instead. I was just joking with her and told her so, but we'll still bring a dish. *g*

As for reading? Not today. My hands and wrists have been hurting badly today, another reason Chris cooked. However, they're finally feeling a bit better tonight, so I plan to read this evening after heading upstairs. Are y'all reading anything good?

I, again, hope y'all had a Happy Thanksgiving! I wish y'all a fun Friday! (If you're going shopping I wish a SAFE and fun Friday for y'all.) Goodnight, B.

Exercise: None today. the Y was close and I was tired and hurting.

P.S. I am VERY thankful to have met each of you (though so for only online). I've never been so blessed with wonderful friends before. Thank you!

Meet Wicket!

Can I just start by saying that yes, we know we have SUCKER written on each of our foreheads?
One of the feral strays we feed (and we want to trap and have fixed when we can afford it) has had a litter of four kittens within the last few weeks. Earlier this week she brought her kittens to our porch while she ate and then later took them off again. Today she brought them back, but there was a big hawk flying over our house (and even landed on the roof once) and the stray left the kittens. Daughter stayed home this evening when Son and I went to our classes at the Y to keep an eye on them while the kittens were asleep in the dog house (we call it a kitty house-we bought it for the strays for the winter here a couple years ago) because we were afraid they'd toddle off and the hawk would get them. Chris was worried enough about the kittens to go straight home from work (instead of working out at the Y) just to help keep an eye out for them. By the time Son and I arrived back home the kittens were still on the porch. Not long after dark their mom (we call her Alice) came back for them. She took two and left one on our porch and another next to a storm drain and she crawled down the drain with the other two. For ten minutes that kitten sat next to the drain crying and I couldn't take it anymore and brought it back on the porch with the other one. We kept an eye on them and hours passed and Alice didn't come back for them so we brought them inside in a box (to keep them away from the other kitties) and fed them. Eventually Alice came back and we set the two kittens outside and partially closed the door so she wouldn't feel threatened. She took one and promptly disappeared again for hours. *sigh* We couldn't leave the last lone kitten outside by itself (it's SMALL), we were worried she'd get lost or hurt. So, we brought her in and again fed her. And waited and waited for Alice to come back. Finally, about 11pm she came back. We set the kitten back outside where she could see her and went in the house, again partially closing the door. The kitten crawled into the dog house and Alice sat in the bushes for twenty minutes. She then ate and WALKED AWAY. She knew where her kitten was, she abandoned the kitten. *sigh* At this point the kitten had been outside for thirty minutes and it was chilly outside so, after Alice walked off we brought her back in and have been taking care of her. I remarked to Daughter that she looked like an Ewok and there was born the name Wicket, after an Ewok from Return of the Jedi. I have no idea what we're going to do with her. She's too young to take to the humane society. Ours won't take kittens younger than six weeks and it's obvious this kitten is at the most four weeks old. She's tiny. Fit in the palm of my hand tiny. And we honestly don't need another kitty, but we can't abandon her. Right now we're keeping her separated from the other kitties and I have no idea how we'll get her to the Vet. But, I have to believe that God will help us find a way to take care of her. So far she's been eating dry food soaked in milk, so she can eat and we have a couple of kitten baby bottles from when we had Turtle. So, please say a prayer that we either find Wicket a home, or find a way to take care of her (vet visit). Anyone want to give an absolutely adorable kitten a home?

Son and I visited the library on the way to the MT Y this evening. He had a movie come in, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.  And I had a book in from Hold! Deb on Arrival-Live at Five (Five Star Mystery Series) by Laurie Moore, a new-to-me author.
Son enjoyed his KidFit class and I had a blast in Zumba.
Oh and before all the kitten drama today began the kids and I went to Aldi, Sam's and WW. We bought our regular menu items for every two weeks at the first two, but at WW we just picked up a few things needed for dinner tomorrow. Like dessert. I forgot to shop for dessert. So, we picked up the ingredients for Chocolate Eclair Dessert. I am begged to make this dessert every Thanksgiving. No pie for us! Trust me when I say it will be gone in 3 days-tops. (I made it before dinner tonight so it has time to set and make the graham crackers soften.) After heading home and putting everything up, the kids and I then packed up all the recyclables and dropped them at the recycling center. We we arrived home after that is when the Kitten drama began.

I'm pretty sure this post makes sense. Sort of. *g* Don't mind me. I'm just exhausted and can barely focus. I hope y'all had an enjoyable Wednesday. I wish a Thankful and Thoughtful Thanksgiving Thursday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba.

As for reading? No time today. We've been busy.

Midnight looks comfy!

Does Midnight look as though he's very comfy resting his head on Layla's back? These two have the weirdest relationship. Layla seeks his attention and they get along well for a while, but every now and then Layla will get a wild hair and chase him down the stairs. It's always funny to watch. *g*

I've come to the conclusion that I don't know how to relax. *g* I tried today, but I ended up cleaning all the windows downstairs-inside and out- this afternoon before we left to stop by the library before heading to the MT Y.  Yeah, I am that weird. *g* Did I mention it started to drizzle as I was cleaning the last two windows. And STILL CLEANED THEM. *g*

At the library I was delighted to find that I had a book in from hold, Swift Justice by Laura DiSilverio. I'm about a third of the way through the book already and enjoying it! The main character is a competent, loner P.I. who has her silent partners soon-to-be-ex-wife foisted upon her when the Ex, Gigi, decides to become an active partner in her P.I. business. Add in an abandoned baby, the search for the baby's mother and father and so far it's been pretty busy. Especially as Gigi is quite comical in her attempts to be an active partner. It's fun!

Daughter taught the MA class and did a good job. The kids really respond to her and though she still giggles when they ask silly questions, she is doing well. Afterwards we drove to the Pine Y , in the rain, for the kids MA class. They had a good class and I had a nice workout. Afterwards we headed home and Chris and I made dinner together. We also watched the season finale of DWTS. I was glad the winner was who it was, though I'd have been happy with either of the two people who ended up left after the third place announcement was made. (No spoilers in case someone hasn't seen the show yet.)

That's about it from me. It's been a decent and quiet day. I hope y'all have had a nice day. I wish a Wonderful Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 10 miles on the bike at level 11, 25 minutes weights, 10 minutes sit-ups.

Pumpkin Bread and Layla!

This is the pumpkin bread I made last night. What do you think? It has a cinnamon sugar topping. *g* Just the right touch of sweet with a smidge of crunch. I finally tried some when I got up today and it was good, to me anyway. *g*

Does this look on Layla's face not look long suffering? It's because Butterscotch cuddled up to her. She is not a fan of Butterscotch and usually smacks him if he gets too close. She was being really sweet and I have no idea why. *g*

A pretty quiet day here. I've given the kids the week off. It ended up that way because of two things. One, I had a monstrous sinus headache this morning and two, the kids friends have an optional day tomorrow and have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off. Besides, I only give them a week at Christmas. I try to keep to the normal school schedule for around here. Though I don't give "teacher in-service" days. I wish! *g* After taking Daughter to the Pine Y for lifeguard work Son and I headed home and while he played with the Wii I cleaned all the bathrooms. Even Daughters. That's normally her chore, but she's been falling down on the job. At least to my standards. Besides, I commando clean. *g* The family thinks I'm a tad picky when it comes to cleaning. I say they don't clean the right way. *g*
Before I knew it, it was time to pick up Daughter and head to the MT Y. After we arrived I watched the kids eat a snack and then popped Son into Childwatch. I worked out on the stationary bike and then shooed Daughter off to the pool (her knee was bothering her so no Yoga for her tonight) and I headed to Yoga after spending a few minutes with Chris who had just arrived. We had our regular Yoga teacher tonight, thank goodness. I like this teacher a lot. She has us do interesting poses and her class is never boring. A lot of her poses are "flow poses" meaning we go from one pose right into another. (Ex. Warrior 1 to Warrior 3 to Standing Split. or Warrior 2 to Extended side angle to, arggh can't remember the name- backwards warrior?)
After class we all met up together and headed home. I sauteed peppers and onions and shredded cheese and Chris cooked the flank steak for fajitas. I like it when Chris and I cook together. It's fun. *g*
And as my treat for dessert? Hot chocolate. Dru has the right idea there! *g*

That's all from me tonight. It's been a long day, though a quiet one. My headache never went away and I've had it all day. Not fun. Thanks for all the good thoughts. I appreciate them. We'll figure something out. We always do, it's just not been a good year for us. Besides having such great friends that is! And a wonderful family. And funny pets. (I'm counting my blessings. Count your many blessings count them one by one........) And a good library.....
Anyway, time for bed. I hope y'all had a stress-free day. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8 miles on the stationary bike @ level 11, 1 hour yoga!

Layla hangs out during schoolwork!

This picture was taken Friday. Layla decided it would be a good idea to sit in the middle of the table while the kids did their schoolwork. Ever wonder why cats and books seem to go so well together?

I forgot to mention the other day that I now have 2,000 posts. (Well, this post will make 2,003.) It doesn't seem possible, but there it is. We had a decent day. It was lovely outside, warmer than average for this time of year and so I sent the kids outside to play.  I stripped the old caulk off the counters in the kitchen and started to re-caulk them, but my arms weren't long enough to get some areas with the caulking gun, so I had to enlist Chris' help. I also re-caulked the garage door and stripped the caulk around the sliding doors. Chris caulked those for me as well. I was glad to get the items done. Though I did learn that the idiots that built this house-truly were idiots. Afterwards I vacuumed the house and then shampooed the carpets downstairs. I've taken care of laundry and did the ironing as well. Chris took care of dinner. He roasted a chicken-YUM! (I don't roast chickens, I tend to do them upside down for some reason.) After dinner I felt like baking and so baked some pumpkin bread. It was my first time making some from scratch and though I've yet to taste it, it smelled wonderful as it was baking and looked very pretty when it was done. And yeah, I happened to tweak the recipe a bit. I can't help it. I always want to make them better, less generic. Mine. Weird, I know.

As for reading? None today. I've been too busy. And this evening we had an issue come up and some good thoughts would be nice. It's nothing health related for any of us, or job related (*knock on wood*). It's a big stressor right now, though. And I am sure I'll feel like reading later, just not right this minute.

Anyway, I hope y'all had a lovely and peaceful Sunday. I wish a low-key and pleasing Monday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Not today, I've been busy with other things.

I've been baking again!

For some reason I tend to bake more in the cooler months and last night I decided to make blueberry muffin bread. I'll be honest. I'm lazy, I love blueberry muffins, but they take more time. So, I made this recipe up a couple of years ago and the cinnamon sugar sprinkled topping make it yum-my! Daughter and I enjoyed some for breakfast today. *g* (Chris doesn't like blueberry's and Son? Well, he's still quite picky with his food.)

Not a long day! It was nice. After lunch I drove Daughter to a Teen event at the library and then I went to work-out while Chris stayed home with Son. I thought a little "guy time" was a good idea. While I was gone they watched a movie together, some Sci-Fi movie remake of 'The Phantom'. They both had a good time. *g* Daughter also had a good time, especially considering SHE WON AGAIN. I told her they were going to quit inviting her to the Teen events if she keeps winning. *g* (Today's Teen event was the game "Minute to Win It".)

As for reading? I started and finished The Secret Society of the Pink Crystal Ball by Risa Green (a YA). I truly enjoyed this book. It was realistic and had a life lesson- Be careful of what you wish for. The main character was believable in her locked down good girl personality and her friends were funny and endearing. There were several instances of rash and impulsive decisions/wishes and when they backfired and the girls were left with the mess they learned that you must persevere.
As for what to read next? I have one YA left and then I'm out of books again. Cross your fingers the library gets in a few of my holds soon, as well as the books I've been stalking in the database for weeks. *g*

Besides laundry and helping with dinner, it's been a pretty slow day and I for one appreciate it after the past week.

Time for me to head offline. Tomorrow promises to be a long day. Oh, I do have an odd question. Would it be bad if I mowed my next door neighbors yard? He's driving me batty. It's tall and has tall weeds and since this is Mrs. M's son who has been living there since she went to stay with her army husband in Minnesota I know she'd be ticked if she knew what he's done to her yard. I can understand being busy, but he's had time to cut it. He just doesn't want to and it's driving me nutty. (So, yeah, my neat-freak personality is annoyed, too.) What would you do? I don't mind cutting it, it would be a relief.

NOW it's time to head offline. I hope y'all had an amusing and fun Saturday. I wish a restful and peaceful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: 8 miles on the stationary bike at level 11, 20 minutes weights.

Oh, Butterscotch!

Notice anything...... odd about Butterscotch? That he's sitting on the table; happy as can be. With his tongue sticking out. Uh-huh. I keep telling y'all that Twinkie the Twitchie is a good nickname for him. *g*

It's felt like a long day here. I think it's because the week has been so stressful and I would like nothing more than for it to be the weekend-NOW. After taking care of schoolwork this afternoon the kids and I headed to the library to pick up a movie that had come in for Son, along with a book for Son and another for Daughter. I picked up two books while there as well. Both are YA's, and both are by new-to-me authors, The Secret Society of the Pink Crystal Ball by Risa Green and Suspect by Kristin Wolden Nitz. I also picked up Our Family Wedding, a DVD, the other day when we went to the library and forgot to mention it. We haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I'm hopeful that we'll watch it sometime this weekend.
After the library the kids and I headed to the MA's teachers teachers dojo (Ha! I can say it fast now. *g*) for Sparring. We don't have to go because of the tournament anymore, but feel that the kids really need to the extra practice. Especially Son. Watching him tonight he's taken a small step back. We think he's lost his confidence after the tournament and not doing so well against the other schools kids. And strangely enough, Daughter sparrs better at the dojo than at the tournament as well. I'm glad their teacher has them come up to sparr. Speaking of their teacher. He's not happy with the Pine Y MA director. And is thinking of quitting. We've already told him if he does we'll be switching to his teachers dojo. The cost would remain the same and while the teachers rotate, at least they would have a semblance of permanence. (They know everyone up there, they like everyone up there and that dojo has been open for over 10 years.) Switching to the dojo will be very different schedule-wise for us and will take a commitment from the kids. It will also mean a lot of reconfiguring of my work-out schedule, because I'll still need to work out, but won't have the same times to do so. It's a lot to work out. But, we'll see how it goes for now at the Pine Y.
After sparring we drove home and made a quick dinner and relaxed. It's now late and I'm exhausted, so will be heading offline now. (I have read today, a Susan Donovan book. But, I'm so darn tired I can't think of the title right this minute. Ah, The Night She Got Lucky.)
Anyway, I hope y'all had a fun and interesting Friday. I wish an amusing and enjoyable Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: 10 minutes of yoga. Yeah, I know, not much. Maybe tomorrow.

Nosey kitties!

This picture? Was taken the same day we let Midnight have a marshmallow. He's the only kitty that likes them, but the other cats are nosey as heck and had to check it out. *g* Midnight smacked each one of them to keep them away from his treat. *g*

Another long day. We had a homeschool event at our local library this afternoon and I think I forgot to tell y'all that besides being a regular homeschool event, ever since the Nutrition even in September the group wanted to become a 4-H group. So, today? We officially became a 4-H group! Officers were elected and Son decided he wanted to be Vice-President and was elected pit of three other kids. I had no idea he wanted to do something like that. He volunteered himself this afternoon. But, I support his decision and think it will be good for him. The event today was about bubblegum. The librarian did a bit of research and talked about how it was invented, the most popular kind and who chewed the most gum. (Not who you'd think.) There was also a bubble blowing contest. Because of all the 4-H things, the event ran over it's time and so we were a few minutes late making it to MA class. The kids had a good class, their teacher was there, and I had a good workout. We then headed home and Chris and I made dinner together. And spent some time watching a bit of tv together.
As for reading? I just finished the JoAnn Ross book tonight. I liked the book. The hero and heroine were realistic and I even found the extra characters to be not just background, but actual fully fleshed out characters. The ending was poignant and sweet and I will look for the next book due out next Spring. I will say that I knew who the bad guy was from the start. It was quite obvious, but since he wasn't the real main focus of the book, it was okay.

All that said, it's time for me to get some sleep. I hope y'all had a marvelous Thursday. I wish a fantastic and fun Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 10 miles on the stationary at level 11, 25 minutes weights and 5 minutes ab work.

Can you Guess the Kitty?

Since we only have two black cats, can you guess which of the two this is? Is it Pepper or Midnight? If you guessed Pepper, you were right. Isn't she cute? Normally her pupils are bigger, but the flash shrank them a bit. I truly wish I could get a good picture of her eyes for y'all. She looks exactly like a Manga cartoon kitty. *g* To us, this second picture is what she looks like. *g*

Only we think Pepper is cuter. *g*

Today was a calmer day. Well, sort of. I've had Chris call me several times from work today to check in with me. I am just still so worried, though he did say he isn't feeling the "flutters" as much and that by this evening he wasn't feeling them at all. Of course, he can still be having them, but not feeling them. *sigh* No, no stress here. *sigh*
We were supposed to go to Homeschool events for this kids this morning, a Forensics Event for Daughter and a Constitution event for Son, but we were all just so tired after last night that I left the decision up to Daughter and she chose to rest at home this morning. Add in a sinus headache for Son and today has been long and draining. Though the kids and I did venture out to the MT Y this evening so I could attend Zumba. I needed the endorphins. I was kind of 'down' and knew that going to class would shake me out of it. The kids stayed in class with me and watched and then we headed home with a stop by the grocery store for some kids tylenol for Son (we were out) and also to pick up some bubble gum for Son to practice with for tomorrows Homeschool event at our local MT Library. The event is all about Bubble Gum, from how it's made, to it's many flavors to it's history and then there will be a bubble blowing contest. Hence the gum for practice. We've decided he should NOT wear his glasses during the contest tomorrow. *g*
After we arrived home I started dinner but Chris had to finish it because Bio-Dad called and we chatted for a bit. I'm becoming a little more comfortable talking with him and add in the relief of Chris feeling better tonight and I was a tad chipper on the phone. I'm sure he thinks I'm nuts. But, y'all also have to realize that other than Chris I don't speak much to other adults during the course of my week. He seemed delighted. Go figure.
Tonight I haven't been able to stop myself from checking on Chris and asking how he felt about every ten minutes. I'm sure I'm driving him batty, but he can get over it after the scare from last night. And as for reading? I have only read the first two pages of The Homecoming by JoAnn Ross. I just couldn't concentrate enough to read more than that. I hope to read more after everyone is in bed.

Speaking of which..... I need to get there myself. I hope y'all had a lovely Wednesday (our sun came out today-WOO!). I wish a Thankful (Thank you God Chris is ok!) and Thoughtful (I truly, TRULY appreciate all y'alls concern and hugs. You have NO idea how much they meant to me today. Or how much they were needed.) Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba.

Marshmallows and kitties mix!-Updated.

Update: I forgot to mention that Daughter's phone was actually stolen last night at the Pine Y. Someone turned in her phone case to the front desk late last night, but the phone and her B&N and WW gift cards that she had in her case were missing. (She's not a purse type girl.) Luckily they left her library card. Funny enough, because of the restrictions we put on her phone in the first place it can't be used to call anyone but who is in the contacts and the phone won't text, either. Also, Chris reported the phone as stolen so service to it has been shut off. We've had to order her a new phone and it should be here tomorrow. And we'll have to purchase her a new memory card for it as well.

It's been a very long day and this is going to be a short post. As in, this evening after taking the kids to the Pine Y after Daughter taught at the MT Y we arrived to find that their MA teacher was unable to make it to class. Supposedly he was going to call and tell me this, therefore saving me a trip over there. Yeah, no. Anyway, we decided to wait around to see if anyone else was going to show up for class, and they did and Daughter taught the class until Chris called me to say his heart was skipping around and his blood pressure was through the roof. (166/115) I ran through the Y and grabbed the kids from class and Daughter couldn't find her phone. The last thing I wanted to worry about was her darn phone, but we took a moment to look for it and then just let the staff know and headed out. I drove like a bat out of hades to get home, what is normally a 40 minute drive-I made it in less than 30 and had the kids go over to the neighbors and I took Chris to the emergency room. And that's where we spent our evening. Turns out Excedrin Migraine, Benedryl and Sudafed taken in the same 5 hour period earlier in the day are not good meds to mix. Why the man didn't know that? I have no clue. (That was this morning, btw. He woke with a sinus headache at 3am this morning it was so bad it was slipping into migraine and he took the Excedrin. Then when he got up for work he took a benedryl and a Sudafed. *sigh*) The Doc says all three together stimulated his heart and since he already has a history of arrhythmia they didn't help. And I? Am very glad he's okay, but a bit miffed that a man who reads physics books for FUN didn't know better than to mix those medication. *sigh*
All that leads to us headed home, poorer due to a copay, and picking up the kids at the neighbors who were absolute angels to watch the kids for us. I made Chris some sandwiches for dinner (It was close to 10pm when we arrived home.) and we've gotten ready for bed. Only I'm a little scared to go to sleep. I know the Doctor said he's okay, but I'm still scared. Every darn part of my body hurts and I'm exhausted and have way too many things to do in the morning (homeschool events), but I'm still scared to close my eyes and not watch his chest fall. Eventually I know I'll become tired enough, but for now, I feel better watching him breathe. Silly, right?
And this is where I leave y'all. I hope y'all had a nice Tuesday. I wish a wonderful (and uneventful *g*) Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: I had 4 miles on the stationary bike when the call came and we left.

An Oldie But Funny!

This picture is several years old, but I just had to share it again because even after all this time it makes us smile. Yes, we do have a little too much fun playing dress-up with the kitties, but they don't seem to mind...... too much. *g* Here a child's clip-on tie provides amusement. *g*

It's been a looong day. The day has been gray and drizzly, sometimes raining and chilly. I was very glad to return to our Monday routine today. The morning was slow, but this afternoon we managed to get Daughter to the Pine Y for her training and then Son and I drove home where he worked on more schoolwork and I made dinner ahead of time, well, most of it. And before we knew it, it was time to pick up Daughter again. We then headed to the MT Y and I worked out while Daughter sat in the lobby. She did take Yoga with me tonight, though. Oh, and Chris made it to the Y tonight- Yay! In Yoga we had a different teacher ,since ours is out of town this week, and she had us do a few partner-type moves. Daughter and I partnered up and we both cracked up, but had fun with a few
Oh, and while on the way to pick up Daughter, Son and I stopped by the library and dropped off a bagful of items and also picked up a few things for me. I now have Holiday Affair by Lisa Plumley, The Night She Got Lucky by Susan Donovan and Skating Around the Law by Joelle Charbonneau (a new-to-me author that Dru recommended, and Dru knows her books!). I started the Skating book at the MT Y while on the stationary bike and finished it when we arrived home (after dinner-chicken pot pie, YUM!) and spent time sitting this evening and watching a little bit of tv. It was a good and fun read. I'd classify it as a cozy, but the lead character is young (not an older character) and the mystery was interesting. I hope there are more books featuring the character! (Her grandfather was a HOOT!) And now? I'm reading Retail Hell by Freeman Hall. I picked this book up last week and am just now getting around to it. Already I'm enjoying it and though I am only about 30 pages into it, I'm hooked. I'm not sure if it's because I've worked retail before or because the author has such a droll and satirical voice.

And that's where I leave y'all. I am exhausted. It's been a long few days and I'm just at my wall right now. I hope y'all had a low-key Monday. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 8.82 miles on the stationary bike at level 11, 1 hour Yoga.

My Karate Girl!

Like with all pictures I publish of the kids, I will be removing this picture in a day or two. (Even though you can't see her face.) This picture was taken at the Tournament. It was taken during Daughter's Kata, a sequence of actions/defense moves competition. She not only garnered first place for her age group in the Kata's, she also placed first for ALL age groups for the Kata's. Her dad, brother and I are very proud of her. (And before you think I'm not, I am also very proud of Son, his face is in almost every single picture of his Kata. *g*)

Daughter was indeed sore this morning from her fall on her shoulder, so we had her sleep in a little late. We thought the rest would be good for her, as well as some tylenol. As a matter of fact, after we all went to bed last night-we crashed. Ad burned. We were all exhausted after yesterday. So, we took it easy and didn't do much for the first half of the day. However, there were just too many things to take care of so.... no rest for the weary. Or wicked. *g* I mowed (and bagged) the grass, though it's pretty much brown out back, and edged and weed-eated as well as trimmed the trees and raked for a bit. I then cleaned up outside and have also been doing laundry. I ironed and the helped Chris start dinner and after all that I had to sit down.
We haven't done much this evening. I finished up the Rachel Gibson book and haven't picked another to begin yet. I am glad I had time to read, though.

And now I am again exhausted, so this is it from me this evening. I hope y'all had a restful and peaceful Sunday. I wish a low-key and pleasant Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Yard work. 'Nuff said. *g*

Butterscotch enjoys a good book!

Does it not look like Butterscotch is reading along with Son? Just what every reader needs! A book buddy! *g* Kitties are truly a blessing and a friend. *g*

It has been a long, long, LONG day. I was so worried about oversleeping this morning that I woke up several times during the night, which made waking up this morning hard. But, we managed to get up and get out of here on time this morning. We arrived an hour before the tournament an hour before it began so I could help with registration. The kids practiced for a while and the Daughter grew bored and came upstairs to see me where she became an "usher" helping participants find the Kids Gym downstairs where the tournament was being held. The Pine Y is so old and they've added on and on that it's a maze/warren of pathways to different sections of the Y.
The tournament went well, though the kids MA teacher had car difficulties and didn't make it. For four hours. Don't get me started or I will have steam coming out of my ears. However, the MA director was there and kept things going and also acting as a judge. All together we had three judges and fourteen participants. The other MA school that was participated were a lot rougher than we expected. And their sparring/safety pads were different. And by rougher? I mean that they hit with full force while our kids have learned to spar with light contact. It made for a lot of tears today and since they didn't seem to get the memo about not hitting below the belt there were quit a few groans and moans from the male participants on the floor. One child who came from another state to participate went up against the other school and ended up taking a BIG punch to the chest which worried us, however the other school didn't seem particularly concerned. I sound like sour grapes, and I'm not. What I am is incensed that the other school hasn't taught their kids how to sparr without hurting someone, basically they aren't teaching responsible control. Son? Almost quit. And we wouldn't have been upset. The girl, yes girl, he fought hit him with such force I could HEAR the thump from the opposite side of the mat and he burst into tears. For Son to cry? Not good. And he wasn't the only one.
Did I mention I was drawn into service during the tournament? I was point keeper for the sparring rounds. It was an interesting experience.
As for how the kids performed? Daughter received first for Kata in her age group and first for Kata in ALL age groups. She also came in second place for sparring. Son came in second place for Kata (he was so nervous he forgot a part of his Kata) and he received an honorable mention medal for sparring. The other team racked up for Sparring thanks to their rough handling. But, it was a learning experience for the kids and they are happy for having participated and even happier that they were treated in the afternoon to their favorite treats. *g* Daughter picked a piece of cake from their favorite bakery and Son picked a treat from the See's kiosk that opened in the mall this week. (And I saw a fabulous gift idea for Christmas for Daughter- a Fluer de Lis belt buckle! I pointed it out as we were heading to the car and she stopped and ooohed over it a while before we left. And Chris wants the Green Lantern belt buckle he was drooling over. *G*)(Yes, I AM married to a Geek, why do you ask? *g*)
After that we headed to WW to finish up the grocery shopping and then home where we made a quick dinner and have been somehow managing to stay awake so far. However, I think we've about hit our wall, so to speak. *g*
In my reading I have managed to read...... not much. Seriously, it's been a long, but very busy day and I'm only three chapters into the Rachel Gibson book. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better and slower. *g*

This all leads to now. Time for me to head offline and get some much needed (and wanted) sleep. I hope y'all had an amusing and fun Saturday. I wish a Blessed Sunday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Can I count all the walking around the labyrinth of the Pine Y as well as the mall and WW?

Napping for a sunny day!

Fireball decided to nap on the cat scratcher yesterday. I don't know if it was warm because of the sun or if he just wanted to nap on it. Personally, I think the sun had a lot to do with it and I don't blame him. *g*

It's been a loooong day. After schoolwork the kids and I headed out of the house early to grocery shop. Unfortunately it wasn't early enough to make it to all three of my stops, but we made it to Aldi and Sam's before we had to head home. And Son doesn't know it but I picked him up his very own copy of The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney at Sam's (for Christmas, it was on his list), with Daughters help. *g* As soon as we arrived back home I stuck it on top of the upper cabinets in the kitchen before he saw me. Now I just need to get it from there to my closet in the next couple of days. *g*
After putting everything away after arriving home I took care of some laundry and before I knew it, it was time to leave to take the kids sparring. They had a blast, though Son had issues with his mouth guard today. I kind of knew that would happen today though because he's been coughing today (drainage-STILL *sigh*) and knew that would trigger his gag reflex. Daughter fell a few times sparring and Chris and I were wondering if she's going to make it through MA. When we asked her, she knew we were joking and smacked Chris on the arm. *g*
After a couple hours there we headed home and were bad and had pizza for dinner. It was late (really late) and pizza is fast and we only "eat out/have take-out" once every two weeks (sometimes only once a month) now.  And the place we get it from makes it from scratch and therefore it doesn't trigger Chris' migraines.
As for reading today? I haven't had the chance, though I've picked Tangled Up in You by Rachel Gibson to read next. This is a reread, but it's been a few years so I don't remember much. Yet. *g*

And this is it for me. I have to be at the tournament early in the morning because I'm helping with Sign-In's, which means the whole family has to be there early, too. *g* Keep your fingers crossed for the kids please! I hope y'all had an enjoyable Friday! I wish an amusing and light-hearted Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Unless grocery shopping and hefting bulk items counts, then no.

Sweetly sleeping Pepper!

We spoil the cats, and by spoil I mean we love them like crazy and they have tons of toys and we even are drying catnip in the garage for them. But, their most favorite things? Are the shallow boxes the flats of waters we buy come in. I place them in front of the sliding door in the kitchen because it's a west facing door and that means it's the warmest sun for the kitties. Here is Pepper taking advantage of both the sun and a box we kept for the kitties. Isn't she adorable? *g*

It's been an good day. I started the kids on their schoolwork a bit early today, not our usual routine, but I wanted to be able to leave the house earlier than usual. My main goal was to avoid having to go 15 miles out of my way to go around the Veteran's Day parade route. But, another goal I had was to have Son's hair cut. My hands have been still for the past few days, but Son desperately needed a hair cut. So, we gathered everything up early today and headed to the new Great Clips near us. They are still having their special on haircuts and I took full advantage of that. Son was very good while the lady cut his hair. As a matter of fact he sat quite still and didn't raise his shoulders or fidget as he does when I cut his hair. I'm not sure that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm grateful he was well behaved for the stylist, but at the same time does that mean I hurt him? (Though he's never said that.) Or is it more of a he'll behave better for a stranger type thing? I don't know. I do know he looks great and I didn't have to fuss at him to sit up straight, stop fidgeting or hanging his head. *g*
After Son's haircut we headed to the Pine Y. I knew (because Chris was thoughtful (odd for him on this matter) and emailed the events planner for the city we have to drive through and asked when they were shutting down the road that runs so far that to avoid it I'd be going WAY out of the way to go around it. The planner was kind enough to email back and turns out as long as we made it at least 15 minutes before the parade were to start we were good. On the way there Son said he's done something bad while he was getting his hair cut. I couldn't figure out what he meant until he said that he eavesdropped on the lady and stylist next to him while he was getting his hair cut. (He had the kind of stylist who doesn't talk, at least to kids, and what's up with that?) So, lesson to be learned here? Don't say anything to your stylist the child in the next chair might overhear. (Nothing bad from what Son said. And yes, I talked to him about how he shouldn't have eavesdropped.)
We made it to the Pine Y and the kids played with the footballs we keep in the car in the dojo. And, happily, Daughter's Gi arrived just in time! When we first arrived at the Y it hadn't been delivered, but Daughter went out to the car for something and the lady at the front desk knew she was waiting for it to be delivered (though we weren't sure when it would arrive-this week, the next- we didn't know) and handed it to her. She's so excited. And her teacher couldn't get her a blue belt from his teachers dojo, but a lady in their karate class bought her gear from a friend who had taken karate a couple of years ago and quit and has a blue belt Daughter can borrow to wear to the tournament since we have to wait to order her blue belt until the MA Director is back in town. (If you understood all that-kudos! I tried to get it down in as simply as I could. *g*)

After my workout and the kids class we headed home and I made dinner, a roast with veggies. It was a small roast and I have NO leftovers. Daughter and Chris went back for seconds. *g* Me? I went for a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. *g*

In my reading world? I've just finished (as in about ten  minutes ago) the Nora Roberts book. I enjoyed the book and knowing that the fourth bride found her HEA. I don't think there was as much conflict as there was in the other books, but what was there worked. I do think that out of the four books, I enjoyed the first and third the best. I'm eager to hear what y'all think/thought of the books if you've had a chance to read them all. And next in my reading? I have no idea. For now it's bedtime, since I stayed up late to finish the Bride book.

No more from me. I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow promises to be packed and tiring. I hope y'all had a Happy and evenly keeled day. I wish a fun and fantastic Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8.35 miles on the stationary bike at level 11 (I just can't get past this level!), 25 minutes weight machines and sit-ups, stretching.

Layla's Naptime!

This is Son's room and his bed. I'm sure you recognize Buddy, Son's favorite sleeping buddy. And  leaning on Buddy? Layla. She's not the first to take a nap in Son's room, but she does tend to cuddle up with Buddy for her naps. *g*

Oh, and as for Son's bear? He's had him forever. He came from Vermont Teddy Bears. They are handmade and of excellent quality. They even have a Bear Hospital! Daughter still has hers, from my Papa, her bears name is Tigerlily. *g*
No idea why I felt the need to share all that, but I can't help but look at Buddy and want to cuddle him myself sometimes. *g*

Another pretty and nice day here. We're above our normal high here for this time of year by about 10 degrees and it's weird. I was all ready for Fall weather and pants and sweaters and I wore capri's to the Y yesterday!
Today was simple. We had schoolwork and were done about the time we needed to leave to run by the library. Yes, again. Because Son? Had a book in from Hold and so did I. Son's book? The fifth Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney. He counted down the days to the books release and yesterday begged and bugged me until I put it on hold for him. He was lucky and our library system had ordered a LOT of them and his hold came in the day after I placed the hold. As for me? I now have Happy Ever After by Nora Roberts, The Homecoming by JoAnn Ross, Tangled Up in You by Rachel Gibson (a reread), and Retail Hell: How I Sold My Soul To The Store, Confessions of a Tortured Sales Associate by Freeman Hall. The last one is my a new-to-me author. I saw this book somewhere (I can't remember when or where.) and took a picture of the cover so I could look it up and put it on hold. Y'all remember I mentioned that's how I make note of books I want to look up without having to write anything down. *g*
I could not NOT pick up the Nora Roberts book, as it's the last of the Bridal Quartet series. I'm already a fourth of the way through it. Which is okay, because I didn't begin reading one of the books I picked up from the library yesterday and just finished the Whoopi book.

After the library the kids and I headed to the MT Y for Son's Kidfit class and my Zumba class. We had a good time at each of our classes and the funniest and most fun thing about Zumba today was something the teacher called a Zumba Battle. She separated the class in half and she was the leader of one half and someone was a leader of the other half and we have almost like a dance off with certain dance moves. One leader and her team starts and then the other team leader and her team copies it adding in more flair. I had a blast, but am very glad most everyone in the class are only Y acquaintances. *g*

After all that I met up with Chris who tried to make it to the Y to workout, but was held up by another A.F. Veteran at work in his class and only made it to the Y at the tale end of Son's and my classes. So, he didn't even work out. Silly man. We all headed home and I made dinner tonight and since there was nothing on tv we watched some DVD's of Chris' favorite tv series, The Big Bang Theory season 1. I knew tv would be bad tonight and so picked the season up at the library yesterday. *g* I'm going to have to pick the series up for Chris, he likes the show THAT much.

And that's our day. Not a lot to it, but nice all the same. I hope y'all had an excellent Wednesday. I wish a Thankful (Thank all the Veterans for Veteran's Day! Since I have my own Vet, I'll be thanking him with a big bear hug. *g*) and Thoughtful (think of all those who serve, who have served and who fight/fought for our Rights) Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba.

Oreo a dressed up kitty!

I'm alluding to the fact that Oreo is a Tuxedo. *g* And she truly is a pretty kitty, if not a bit psycho. *g* She can be very sweet and shy and follows me around like my shadow. She talks to me at night when I get ready for bed and sleeps under the bed, ready to bound out every time I set a foot on the floor. There really is a reason we call her Stalker Kitty. *g*

It has felt like a long day. And Mother Nature? Is still off her meds, we reached mid 70's this afternoon, not quite what I expect of November weather. However, it was nice out.
Daughter had told the MT Y last week that she couldn't teach MA today because of an educational commitment. And that was correct, she wanted to attend a Teen Writers Workshop at our library. Too bad I received an email a few hours before the Workshop was to take place, it had to be canceled due to illness. Daughter was disappointed. We still made a trip by the library today. Daughter had a couple of books on the style of MA the kids take come in and was eager to pick them up. While there we ran into The Boy. When he saw Daughter he bounded over like an eager puppy. I was standing with Daughter with Son at the time and I gestured to her that we would go look at something else. I gave them a few minutes, but at that point we needed to leave to make it to the kids MA class in the next city over, so we walked back over and I let her know (silently) that we needed to go. They said their goodbyes and we headed out.
One thing I do NOT like about the time change? When we drive over there on Tuesdays the sun is in my eyes and when we drive back on Mondays and Thursdays the sun is eye-watering in it's location on the horizon.
We arrived a little early and the kids grabbed a football out of the back of the car and tossed it around in the dojo before class. Yeah, I know. Weird that we carry that kind of thing around, right? Ha. Not with my kids. When the teacher showed up I headed out to work out and though tired, did my best. (My body is so tired right now. I don't know if it's the time change, or that time of year or what.) After my workout I headed back to the dojo. Daughter chose to test after class. Son and I moved upstairs to watch and I snapped a few pictures. It was a tense hour, I'll tell you that. Daughter was fine until the test began and then she tensed up. She made a couple of mistakes, small mis-steps due to nerves- really, but did well enough because SHE PASSED! WOO-HOO! Daughter is now a Blue Belt! Since the MA Director is out of town a blue belt wasn't ordered, so she didn't come home with it today. BUT her teacher said he'd have a belt for her by Thursday. He did tell her she needs to learn to relax during testing because if she'd been testing for her Black Belt she'd have failed with all her nervous movements. (She kept touching her glasses, adjusting her Gi and pushing her hair behind her ears. I spotted them and wanted to say something but had to keep quiet.) So, she'll need to work on that. Especially since she is now half-way to her Black Belt. And while Son didn't test today, he knows what he needs to to do to test now and he even was called to help during the test so felt included.
We didn't arrive home until almost 9pm. Long afternoon. Luckily Chris was kind enough to start and make dinner- Chicken Fajita Quesadillas! Yum! And just so you know, the apple cake only has about a third left. *g*

As for reading? I'm about halfway through the Whoopi book. I keep reading it, though I feel like it's too dry. Her personality just isn't coming through as well as I'd expected. But, those were my expectations. Oh, and I picked up two library books today. I have no idea if I'll like them, but both drew my interest for different reason. One, The Fat Man: A Tale of North Pole Noir by Ken Harmon caught my eye with it's Noir cover and hilarious summary. And the other? Tesla: Man Out Of Time by Margaret Cheney grabbed my interest because of the Sci-Fi channels show Warehouse 13. *g* Also? It doesn't read like a dry biography. Even today the man would be considered brilliant. And I have told y'all before. My reading tastes are varied and eclectic. *g*

Anyway, that's our day. It's been long and I am tired. I hope y'all had an interesting and lovely Tuesday. I wish a Wonderful Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 8.30 miles on stationary bike at level 11, 30 minutes weights and 5 minutes stretching.

Fireball the Funny Boy!

This picture makes me laugh. Daughter found that flashing Son's iPod on the ceiling the other day made a reflection and attracted the cats attention. They tracked it the way they would a bug and chased after it. Daughter took the fun up to the ceiling and Fireball jumped up to the top of the cabinets to catch it. When it was an a couple of inches from his face on the ceiling I had to take his picture! *g*

Mother Nature has slipped off her meds again. It reached in the low 70's here today, very odd after the 50 degree days we had last week and the weekend. But, it was nice and meant I didn't have to have the heat on today. After tackling most the kids schoolwork we headed out this afternoon to take Daughter to the Pine Y for her training/volunteer work. Son and I drove back home and finished up. All too soon it was time to pick Daughter up! We headed for the MT Y after picked her up and yes, I know it's weird to go from one Y to another in the same day. Chris had a headache (sinuses, though I am encouraging him to visit the eye Doc just in case. However, he does have better than 20/20 vision. I think it may be all the screen time he has to put in at work.)and went home after work, while I attended yoga and Daughter swam laps. (Her ankle was bothering her.)
Afterwards we gathered up Son and headed home. Chris made dinner tonight, stir fry, and we enjoyed DWTS.
How is the time change going for y'all? I? Woke up over an hour early today just because I knew the sun shouldn't be slanting in at the angle it was through the blinds. Do you get used to the time change quickly? It takes me about three days to get my body clock back on track.

As for reading? I began the Whoopi book last night. I'll admit the book wasn't what I expected. I find the  subject matter rather dry. I honestly think if I were listening to an audio book of the book with Whoopi narrating the matter wouldn't seem so dry to me. Her wit is coming across, but without that inflection in her voice, it is falling a tad flat for me. But, I'm sticking with it, as I'm only a third of the way through. It could be that I'm just not used to her writing style.

No more from me tonight. I'm tired and need to get some much needed sleep. I hope y'all had a pleasing Monday. I wish a Terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 8.35 miles on the stationary bike at level 11, 1 hour Yoga.
This is the Apple Cake I made today. I had asked for apple recipes yesterday and gotten some very delicious sounding recipes, but I had all the ingredients on hand for this cake and so decided to try it. I still had a few apples leftover and so also tried my hand, an experiment if you will, at baked apples. I cooked those a little too long, but they are still delicious-even if they did come out mushy. *g* Kind of like baked applesauce with skins. *g* But, the cake? Perfect. Daughter loves it! And Chris? Well, Chris had a craving (an oddity because the man has no sweet tooth) for Rice Krispie Treats and made some of those tonight instead of trying my cake. Stinker!

It's been a kind of slow day. We started slow and rested for a bit, but then I began with the apple cake and baked apples and then decided to sweep, mop and vacuum the floors. I also washed the garage windows and ironed for the coming week. And yeah, more laundry. *g* Chris took care of dinner tonight. He roasted a chicken. Unlike me, he knows which side is up and which is down and he cooks his breast side up. I told him that was boring. *g* What? I have no idea why I can't remember which side is up, start questioning myself and end up half the time cooking one the wrong side up. It's the only thing I mess up in the kitchen, though. And also why Chris is in charge of the turkey at Thanksgiving. *G*

As for reading? I caught up on my online reading. And finished the PTA book. Now I hope to have a few minutes tonight to begin the Whoopi book. I've skimmed the chapter titles and can't wait to begin reading it! *g*

Oh, I also talked to Bio-Dad again. He called earlier when I was chopping apples and I had to ask Daughter to tell him I was busy. Then I thought I should have at least said to maybe call back later and had Daughter text to the number he called from. It wasn't until I was ironing that I flashed on the fact that the number I had seen was his home and not his cell number. OOps. I promise I have a brain. I do! *sigh* So, I drew up the courage and called him this evening. (You have no idea how hard that was, btw.) We chatted for a bit and he asked me to let him know when he could come down and meet me. Um, huh? What is with these peoples all-fired hurry? I'm nervous enough about all this! He said he wanted to come meet me and take me to lunch. Just me. ACK! Without Chris for backup? GAH! NO. Can't do it. So, now I need to try and figure all this out. *sigh*

Anyway, that's all from me. I still have a few things to take care of before I can relax and read for a while. I hope y'all had a Blessed and Peaceful Sunday. I wish a pleasing and low-key Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Not today. Took it easy. Sort of. *g*

Pepper Baby!

That's what we call her. Either just her name, Pepper, or The Baby or Pepper Baby. It's hard to look at pictures of her when she was so tiny and to see her now. She's bigger than Oreo and Athena and has a tummy on her. And her fur is sleek and shiny like satin. But, she still has those huge, cute eyes and those big pointed ears. She's pretty good at navigating the house so that you can't tell her she can't see well. And she has ears like a bat. Sonar would have been a good name for her. *g*

It's been a looooong day. After lunch this afternoon I tackled the garden, first removing the garden stones I used as barriers/rows. Chris helped after a while with that, thank goodness. I could only pick up one of those big stones at a time! After all the stones were up I pulled up all the plants. And felt so bad doing it because one of my tomato plants still had flowers on it and green tomatoes. However, our weather was below freezing last night and expected to reach the same again tonight. (Um, I'm writing this late again.) It never reached above 50 degrees here today and I actually had on a sweater today! After pulling up all the plants I took a small garden rake and raked up the entire area and then spread the dirt back down with some hay. We found lots of crickets while doing this and I felt bad for misplacing them.
After taking care of that Chris and I started kicking around one of the kids soccer balls and before too long we had teams with Son and Daughter and a couple of their friends. We had a good time and I felt like I got to spend time with the kids and have fun doing it. *g* We spent about an hour just playing with the kids. Son had to give up and sit out after a while. The ball seemed to home in on him like a beacon and he was hit in the butt, in the stomach and in the side. I blocked a ball to his head. He was safer on the sidelines!
After the kids friends had to go in for a bit we headed out to run a couple of errands. The first stop was the library where I picked up a book that had come in on Hold, Is It Just Me? Or is it nuts out there? by Whoopi Goldberg. Then on to our next errand. Last night we discovered that Daughter's head gear for sparring didn't fit anymore. She was able to wear it last month, though it was tight, but last night it actually hurt her head so we knew the time had come to pick up a new head gear. We could have ordered her one from the Pine Y, but we knew it would never arrive in time for the tournament next weekend, nor her testing for Blue Belt on Tuesday. So, we headed to Academy Sports. Luckily they had a head gear that fit. (And it's the XL!) We also picked her up an ankle brace as she's still having problems with her ankle.
We then headed back home and the afternoon must have worn me out more than I had realized because all of a sudden I became very tired and had to lay my head down and catnap. Chris made dinner, Fajitas-YUM! I felt better after my small catnap and cleaned up the kitchen after we had dinner. We decided to watch some more of the third season of The Big Bang Theory. We had a good time watching them together.
And after tackling huge loads of laundry I'm ready to get some sleep. I haven't had time to read today. I hope to finish the PTA book tomorrow and begin my library book. I hope y'all had a laugh filled and smile-y Saturday. I wish a peaceful and Blessed Sunday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Can I count Gardening? Or Soccer?

Patches is funny!

I caught Patches in the act of getting ready for a nap on Son's bed yesterday. The funny part? That I had time to go downstairs and grab my camera and run back upstairs and her leg was still in this same position. She'll just leave it up if you start talking to her, too. *g*

Not too very busy of a day, but a frustrating one when it came to schoolwork. Son could not be motivated today, he was having trouble concentrating. He gets like that every now and then, thankfully not too often. His last two things to take care of were two tests. Funny enough those were the fastest things he did and scored well on. *g* This evening after Chris arrived home from work we headed to Sparring at the MA teachers teachers dojo. (Uh-huh, say that five times really fast. *G*) The kids did well. We can see a huge improvement with their technique. Daughter did really well and Son was doing well until he was hit hard in an unmentionable area. (He has a cup, he won't wear it, says it's uncomfortable.)  He cried and I felt so bad. It triggered his temper and he had to sit out for a while because not only did I recognize the anger on his face, but I made sure his teacher could see it as well. I also made sure Son knew it was an accident (It was, he and a new student were sparring and the boy forgot not to hit/kick below the belt.) and that the other boy knew there were no hard feelings before he left.
As for Daughter's test? Her teacher talked to us tonight and postponed it until class on Tuesday. He doesn't have the extra funds for gas to drive all the way over to the next city over where the Pine Y is located (trust me, it took almost 40 minutes for us to drive to the dojo and it takes us 30 minutes to drive to the Pine Y-so it is pretty far for him since he lives not too far from the dojo). He works for his father and their work has dried up due to it's type (security system installation). He's actually going to have to look for a job with another company and while I hope he finds something, that does make me worry as to his availability to teach the kids. Anyway, we told him we understood, after all we were young and Chris was in the Military at one time and as an enlisted (before he received his degrees) and they make NOTHING. And even now, we live off of one income. We understand sacrifice. We understand difficulty. So, we told him that Tuesday would be fine. I just hope he makes it. Because if he doesn't, I'll have to hunt him down and yell at him for disappointing Daughter.

After the Sparring we headed home and since it was late we ended up raiding the fridge for dinner instead of cooking. (It was late.) And I finally warmed my hands up by fixing a nice mug of hot chocolate. *g* YUM! I can see why Dru recommends hot chocolate!

As for reading? I'm halfway through the PTA book. It's a good read. I like the lead character and the plot is fun, for me, since I've never belonged to a PTA and I can let my imagination go and not worry about details. After this? I have no idea. I may take a trip by the library tomorrow. Maybe the next towns over library. They have to have something I'll like that I haven't read, right? *g*

And time for me to head offline. I hope y'all had a fantastic Friday. I wish an amusing and smile filled Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: I had planned to tear up the garden today but had to "ride herd" on Son today with schoolwork. So, no. Maybe tomorrow.

Layla covered up!

So, the weather here has turned rather chilly. Almost as if Mother Nature flicked a switch. And tonight my toes were a tad chilly and I also noticed that for the past few days Layla has been cuddling with me even more than usual. I think I figured it out tonight. She's getting older, she's 9 years old now, and I think the colder weather is bothering her a bit. So, I covered my feet and Layla with a throw tonight. She slept under there for over an hour. *g* And yes, I know my Layla is spoiled.

Just another day here. Well, just another Thursday. The kids have tackled their schoolwork today and this afternoon we headed out to their MA class at the Pine Y. Son's Gi arrived today, he's so excited to have it. But, Daughters is still on back order. I feel bad about that, but it's not something I can do anything about and it will eventually arrive. But, I still feel bad. However, she IS testing this week whereas her brother is not quite ready to test.
After the kids class and my workout we went by our local library to pick up a book that had come in for Daughter and then we headed home. I began dinner and the kids and I listened to my iPod while I cooked. It was fun. Chris had a late class, so we went ahead and ate and put up something for him to have when he arrived home. And when he did, he ate every single bit of the dinner I'd put up for him.

As for reading? I finished Finding Perfect by Susan Mallery. I liked this third book of the Fool's Gold series better than the second book. Although I felt bad for the heroine, who wanted so badly for her friends cat to like her. Next up is Murder at the PTA by Laura Alden. I have it on my bedside table and have already read the first couple of pages and like it so far. And I'm also hoping the library gets in a book or two for me soon, because I don't have anything after the Alden book. Cross your fingers! *g*

It's past time for me to head offline. I am exhausted and my left wrist is one big dull ache and I am also wearing my wrist brace and it's hard to type with this thing on. I think my body isn't too fond of the colder weather yet. I like it, my body is going to have to get over it. *g*
Anyway, I hope y'all had a thoughtful and thankful Thursday. I know I think about and pray for each of you every day and I thank Goodness that y'all are in my life. I wish a happy and enjoyable Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 7.25 miles on the elliptical, 30 minutes of weights, 5 minutes stretching.

Fireball is curious, of course!

I took this picture a few weeks ago and have shared one of them with you. However, I posted this picture tonight to tell y'all of something funny that happened tonight. It involves this chest and two cats. Every night we take our two blankets out of this chest and while I make sure the lid closes, Chris does not. (There's a safety hinge that won't let the lid slam down. It has to be placed down.) Tonight Fireball was the first to notice and climbed inside to investigate and decided he might take a nap in there. Patches was curious, too. But, being bigger than Fireball and more hesitant to try and climb in, she decided to jump on TOP of the lid. Thereby closing the lid and Fireball inside the chest. It was one of the most unexpected and funny things I've ever seen. Chris and I were in shock at first and then realized that Fireball was inside and we had to let him out. It was only a few seconds, but he leapt out of the chest and gave us such offended looks, though he had been looking at us at the exact instance the lid closed and had to perceive we didn't close it. He ran into the hallway and stared around the corner for a few minutes before Patches jumped down and decided she wanted to sleep on the bannister instead. He's been watching her closely ever since. *g*

It's been yet another long day here. I didn't sleep well last night and so read the second book in Susan Mallery's Fools Gold series. While I liked the first book, this one left me unsettled and that's all I'll say unless someone wants to ask me about it. It was gray and drizzly and chilly here today, the perfect weather for stew. So, this afternoon after lunch I began making beef stew to have for dinner. Since Chris had to go in so early this morning (crazy schedules this week due to different work schedules for those needing training) and was off from work early this afternoon. The kids and I worked on schoolwork until he arrived home and after he had changed we headed by the library to pick up two of my holds that had come in: Ansel Adams in Color by Ansel Adams (truly breathtaking photographs and made even more amazing when you thing of the limited camera equipment of that generation) and Finding Perfect by Susan Mallery. After that we headed to the Y for Son's kidfit class and my Zumba class. We each enjoyed our classes. *g* I know I shouldn't be taking Zumba considering the pain in my feet, but I've been trying to be good in the past two weeks and there's something so joyful about Zumba that I can't resist. I think it's because it takes you out of yourself. You know how you may criticize yourself, especially doing something like dancing? Well, the class may initially make me feel silly dancing some of those dances at my age, but all too soon you're caught up in the fun and forget that your feet hurt, or that no one needs to see you shaking that thing. *g* As long as my feet don't get any worse I'll keep going.
After our classes we all trooped home and I made the dumplings to go with the stew-Yum, yum, yummy! And after dinner Chris promptly feel asleep in his chair. I wasn't upset, I know how early he was up. Not to mention I was engrossed in reading Homer's Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, or, how I Learned About Love and Life From a Blind Wonder Cat by Gwen Cooper. There was something so inspirational about the book. It begins with Homer's rough start to the author's conclusion. Those who are tender hearted will be glad to know that at the end of the book Homer is still purring. The book is a self styled look at our inner selves and how those around us influence us. In this case, the person of influence is Homer. I teared up at the kittens struggles, I laughed at his antics and heroics and ended up telling my kids about this Wonder Cat.

We've since headed upstairs and I can barely keep my eyes open. I really didn't mean to write this much!  Sorry. Please excuse any mistakes in this post as I can barely keep my eyes open. I hope y'all had a pleasing Wednesday. I wish a thankful and thoughtful Thursday. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 55 minutes of Zumba, 5 minutes Stretching.
