I picked this bookmark up from the library sometime this past summer. I thought it was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen. *g* And at the same time? Worried me. There have to be some people out there who honestly believe that's exactly what the Gettysburg Address really is....
Well, after this week and the past weekend we were all tired today. Daughter and I were grateful one of her co-workers wanted to trade with her and she got to go in later. It gave us time to rest! *g* After taking her to work this afternoon Son and I headed home and took care of some general cleaning and laundry. We left a little early to pick Daughter up because I wanted to run by B&N and see if they had anything I was waiting for off my list, since I received a small gift card from MIL and FIL. I picked up a re-usable bag from the clearance table. It says 'Peace' on it spelled out in holly and berries, but no so much Christmas-y that I can't use it all year long for grocery shopping. I also picked up Scrumptious by Amanda Usen (a new-to-me author, this was an impulse buy. It wasn't even on my list, but the back copy was interesting.)(Oh, and what's up with all the kitchen themed romances in the lately?) What I had gone in the store looking for was It Takes a Witch by Heather Blake (not quite a new-to-me author as I've read books by this author under another name). The things is, B&N really needs to work on getting the products on the shelves when they're supposed to. According to their computer the book was released yesterday. But, it wasn't on the four-square in the middle of the main isle where new MM's are supposed to be displayed. It wasn't in mystery or even misplaced in Sci-Fi/Fantasy or Romance. I checked all those first. But, I asked at the help desk. And the guy checked the same places I did. *sigh* Then he said he'd check a cart in the back. And came back and said there were four in the store according to the computer, but that he couldn't find them. So, he asked another help desk person. Who checked where I checked. But, at least she checked two other places and had the guy check the CART BEHIND THE HELP DESK (and no, it wasn't there). Then she asked the guy if he'd checked the carts in the back. He said he'd checked. She asked if he'd checked both. He didn't even know there were two. After all that it turns out they were in the back, on the desk of someone who works back there. What I want to know is, are all B&N's this bad about stocking their shelves on time? Or is it just my unfortunate luck that this is the THIRD time this has happened at this store? And they wonder why their book sales may be down. But, I did get the book. So that counts for something right?
After all that Son and I headed to the Pine Y. We had talked about going swimming this afternoon after Daughter was off work yesterday and that's what we ended up doing. Strangely enough Daughter rarely gets a chance to swim anymore. Considering she's a life-guard it's kind of ironic. But, she had time this afternoon and I swam laps while the kids goofed off. It was nice because the pool? Was close to deserted. *g*
After all that we headed home and met up with Chris. We had a nice evening in and am looking forward to getting some things done tomorrow. I hope y'all had a fun and enjoyable Friday. I wish an amusing and relaxing Saturday-New Year's Eve! for y'all. Goodnight, B. Happy New Year!
