Relaxing and Laid Back Fireball!

I took this picture this afternoon of Fireball sacked out on the corrugated cardboard scratcher that we have. He was acting like his usual handsome and slightly silly self and I had to grab my camera and share with y'all. *g* Doesn't he just make you smile?

I can't believe it but I had an hour all to myself today. Technically it was supposed to be two hours, but Chris ran an errand and came home and ran out and did another errand. But, the kids were next door with the Birthday party and had a good time and I had a quiet afternoon. After being in shock over being alone in the house (well, besides the cats) I settled into my chair and enjoyed it.
Of course, it ended very quickly (It felt like it did, anyway.) and the kids were gathered up and Chris arrived home and we set out for Mass and errands. Afterwards we headed to the mall to return the bathing suit I ordered the week before last that arrived this week. Unless my torso shrinks about 5 inches the swimsuit was just too short and I felt like I had to hunch over to keep from falling out of it. If you know what I mean. I looked around while we were there but as the halter top style makes me look like a line-backer (due to my extra large rib cage and wide shoulders-FUN. *sigh*) I didn't see anything else. We then headed to the Sporting Goods store because I was hoping to just pick up a basic black tank. Um, no. The curves I have worked so hard to maintain (though they are rather more lush than is popular-Chris makes no complaints *g*) were all smooshed into making me feel like a sausage in casing. Ugh. At that point? Yeah, I was ready to go home (without the swimsuit) and have a good cry. Chris knew I felt bad, but I don't think guys feel the self loathing that shopping for these items make a woman feel sometimes. I know I work hard at exercising and eating right. And yet every day I am faced, in the mirror, that while I am stronger and have better endurance? I am still a size 16/18. My body absolutely refuses to let go and appear the way I feel inside. I feel fit. I am as active as I can be given our schedule and my hypothyroidism! *sigh* So, yes, forgive me for feeling a bit sorry for myself this evening.

That said, after my mini-meltdown we headed home and have had a quiet evening. Chris has been installing new software that arrived today and I have been goofing off on the computer and reading the last of the Southern Humor book. I think I'll be looking to place another of the author's books on hold. Her humor and outlook resonate on some level with me. Next up to be read is the James Patterson book on the murder of King Tut. Though, I am not really sure why I'll go ahead and read it when it's pretty much thought that Tut died from complications and infection following a broken leg. What? I read a lot of, well, everything. But, as I've already peeked at the first page and it seems pretty interesting I am sure it will be, at the least, entertaining.

That's all from my humble home this evening. I hope y'all had an enjoyable and relaxing Saturday. I wish a Blessed Sunday for y'all. Rest up, the beginning of the week looms ahead. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Too bad feeling sorry for yourself and depressed doesn't burn calories. Some kind of workout tomorrow, hopefully.

AN oldie but pretty!

This is an old picture, taken sometime within the last year using the Photobooth feature on my Mac. I like this picture because my beautiful Layla looks very pretty and inquisitive here. Not to mention I think her eyes are so blue, blue, blue and should be shared. *G* Daughter and I were talking the other day and we love how the lines that start at the corner of her eyes are called Mascara lines, the dots on either side of her nose are called beauty marks and the stripes around her neck are called necklaces. *G* If ever there was a cat that deserved to be dripped in jewelry, it's this one! *G* (And she knows it.)

It's been a rather quiet day today. The kids were good and took care of their schoolwork early. Both made 100's on their Spelling and Vocabulary tests and I'm very proud. Son is tackling fractions this week and I have a question, when you learned fractions did they use a weird table to show the relationships between the fractions? Son's math has this very odd table that I would swear I've never seen before and to be honest is a tad confusing. I admit I had him ignore it and we've been learning fractions this week the "old fashioned way", meaning the way I learned them. *G*
After they were done and had snacks both were out the door to play with their friends. And I tackled household cleaning. Fun, right? Maybe not fun, but afterwards very satisfying to be able to SEE everything that was done. I also took care of some more laundry after cleaning the bathrooms, polishing the furniture and vacuuming again.
After Chris arrived home the kids and he and I ran to Target. Tomorrow Son has been invited to our next door neighbors Grandson's birthday. (Whole mess of weird going on there as my neighbor is moving next month and turning her home over to her son who is currently in school, her son has a son and has weekend visitation with him. The son's birthday was actually Thursday but when you only see your kid on the weekend I guess this is what you do. I LOVE my neighbor and will miss her like crazy, she's a great lady and thank goodness she'll only be gone for two years (her hubs is stationed in Wisconsin and has been extended another two years hence the move) because I? Can not stand her grandson. He's a, and I dislike saying this but it's so true, brat. And I don't say that lightly, either.) Anyway, she asked if Son could come over for a while and I hated to disappoint her, so I said yes. Therefore I needed to pick up a birthday gift for the little monster, er, I mean child. We figured you can't go wrong for a seven year old with Lego's, right? Son picked them out. While there I was checking on ibuprofen. We've tried for about a week now to pick some up and I finally gathered my courage tonight and asked the pharmacist at Target. And yes, I really did have to do that. But, I found out there was a recall! Yikes! Ooh, and we found the best thing while there for Son's birthday in two weeks! He absolutely ADORES the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and Target had a t-shirt! There were only two left and you know I picked one of those up to put away! He's going to love it!
After that we headed for home and I made dinner. Y'all didn't give me any ideas, Stinkers!, for meatless dinners, so I made up my own thing this week. We had bean and cheese enchiladas with green salsa. YUM! Even my meat loving hubby enjoyed it.
As for reading? (Still with me after this most boring post? *G*) I am still making my way through the Celia Rivenbark book and snickering and laughing at the oddest times. I am sure my family thinks I've lost it, but a lot of the Southern things are cracking me up. As for tomorrow, the library has two of my holds in so I'll be glad to add those to the one book after this I have left.

I hope y'all had an enjoyable and laugh filled Friday. I wish a fun and relaxing Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: I really meant to, but after all that cleaning I was tired and my feet were hurting. Hopefully sometime tomorrow or Sunday I'll get back to it.

Playing with pictures!

I know I posted this picture earlier this week, but I was playing with it with the simple and limited software my Mac came with and was going for a timeless feel. What do you think? I think Patches looks so lovely here.

Not much to tell y'all about today. I have been hustling the kids through one activity to another today. We started our day as usual, with me fussing at Daughter to please for heavens sake get up and dressed already. I truly believe all those reports that are being broadcast about teenagers needing more sleep, but c'mon. But, she finally got her act together and we started our day. And I started more laundry. *sigh* We had to leave early to make it to the next town over (same county-different town, this is odd to my way of thinking) for the kids to take the extra MA class class. I was worried we'd be late thanks to lots of traffic, but we made it there before the instructor so we were good. Today they worked on sparring. And I noticed that Son doesn't think-he just goes and Daughter over-thinks and that slows her down and makes her predictable. The teacher showed them some better ways of sparring and then set them up in pairs to spar. At one time Son and Daughter were set to spar together and I swear to you Son had a look of utter glee on his face. And I know what he had to be thinking. Something along the lines of "Finally, I can hit her and not get in trouble!". *G*( It drives Daughter crazy that he'll be goofing off with her at home and get just a little out of control and try and take her down using their MA moves. She usually puts him in the floor with ease and then walks off. Then Son gets upset and pouts and playfulness turns to anger and off he goes again until he becomes absolutely frustrated and she gets angry instead of (what's that word when you put up with something because you are trying to be nice but are secretly annoyed? My brain is GONE tonight.))
Anyway, Son had a blast and Daughter put up with it today, he even got in a few well placed kicks.

After class the kids and I headed back home to wait until Chris was going to meet us at the Y, but he called and said he just didn't feel like working out and I, being tired myself, agreed and so we stayed home. It was nice, actually, not to have to run anywhere else and just able to kick back a bit. Plus, I did my best to stay off my feet this evening.

I finished the J.D. Robb book, Fantasy in Death. I guessed the murderer and was proven correct and felt very sorry for the survivors. I liked the Peabody and Nadine moments, but there wasn't enough Summerset and I became a bit worried about the relationship between Roarke and Eve, but everything worked out. And now I'm reading Bless Your Heart, Tramp (and Other Southern Endearments) by Celia Rivenbark. I can say that a lot of the things she mentions are spot on and others are a bit funny but out of my frame of reference. There must be a Southern level somewhere and I'm not 100% or something. *G* (Maybe because my Mother was from Massachusetts? I actually get people HERE, where I was raised, asking me where I'm from! Gah!) And her observations on dressing a free thinking toddler? HILARIOUS! And true, very true. *g*  I've been snickering reading it since we packed up and headed upstairs (by packed up, I mean the computers are put up, the lights are turned off, the thermostat is turned down and the doors are checked and double checked by me). Luckily Chris is a heavy sleeper. (He once slept through a hurricane making land when we lived, and were sheltered, in MS.) *g*

And that's our day and evening. It's been pretty boring.
*IGNORE THIS, I MUST BE DELUSIONAL. But, I have been doing a lot of thinking lately. I am really, really ready to take my hobby of photography (I take pictures of everything, not just the cats, I just don't post everything.) a bit more seriously. I've been pricing nicer cameras and looking at them lately and am liking a certain camera (Nikon D3000, pretty, very, very pretty), but it's just not in our budget. Unless I want to wait six more months and give up buying any books at all. Um, no. There's no way I can not buy any books. So, I'll be waiting a bit longer until I can sell the armoire and treadmill (The new tv makes the armoire obsolete for us and the treadmill? The Y makes that obsolete for us, too.) I will be over halfway to my goal, so cross your fingers for me!

I hope y'all had a lovely day with lots of sunshine and if not physical warmth, then the warmth of friendship. I wish y'all a fantastic Friday filled with fun! Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: None today unless you count the stretches I've been showing Daughter all day to help alieve her sore muscles from MA from Tuesday and today. *g*

Sleepy Pepper!

Daughter took this picture of Pepper this afternoon. Pepper had just woken up from a nap and this is her sleepy face. Isn't she a cutie? And yes, she's poofing out. *G*

It's been a chilly day here. The kids and I tackled schoolwork and then I tackled some household things. I tried. I really did, to stay off my feet today like I'm supposed to do. But, I vacuumed, scrubbed the litter boxes (if you have kitties and do this like I do many times a year please be careful and do not use bleach or strong chemicals, bleach can cause a chemical reaction and strong chemicals can harm kitties by being absorbed through their fur and paws. Instead use a mild and hopefully natural soap instead.) and took care of even more laundry. How is it possible that four people wear this many clothes?
After that I had to run and pick up one of my prescriptions from the pharmacy and the we headed to RE. We ended up being early, but that's okay because about 5 minutes after I pulled into the parking space it started raining with large pieces of ice. ICE! (And not five minutes after that I took a sip of the drink I had taken with me and yes, spilled it all down the front of my shirt. *sigh* Good thing I had a coat with me to cover my shirt.
After dropping the kids off I went to meet Chris at BAMM. And didn't really see anything I wanted. How sad it that? I felt out of sync all day anyway. This just proved it. So, we cheated for dinner tonight and had take-out. Like we do every now and again on Wednesdays just because of time. Chris took the kids with him and I drove home alone. Don't tell anyone, but it was quiet and kind of nice. But, at the same time I missed the kids. *g*
This evening after dinner I read my way through over half the J.D. Robb book. It's taking me longer than I'd like, but finding the time is hard during the week. After heading upstairs for bed I couldn't sleep so got a head start on the ironing for this week. But, at least I was able to watch Julie & Julia while doing it. *G*

And that brings me to here. Still up and just about to try and get some sleep. I hope y'all had a wonderful Wednesday. I wish a thoughtful and above all thankful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Um, sort of took the day off?

Sacked out in black and white!

I made up a joke featuring Oreo the other day. What's black and white and crazy all over? Psycho Penguin! *G* I hope y'all know I'm just teasing. I love all the kitties, but Oreo is most fervent in her devotion, following me up and down the stairs every day and watching me brush my teeth and even sitting outside the shower when I take a shower. On one hand it's creepy and the other it's very sweet. Here she is sacked out in the middle of our bedroom floor.

Want to know something funny? Chris took the day off to play with and acquaint himself with his new car. I told him before he took the day off he had best be prepared to keep up with us, considering Tuesday is our busiest day. He said he was sure he could, though I can tell you I caught him yawning a lot this evening! *G* It's always weird when Chris is home and the kids have schoolwork. The kids never know quite what to do with Chris sitting at the table with us, even though he's usually lost in his computer anyway. We managed to get schoolwork done today, though with no problems. And soon we all headed out to the Y for the kids MA class. Chris was eager to meet and watch how the new MA teacher interacted with the kids and I could tell that he approved of the new teacher. And that he finally understood what I was talking about when I mentioned how much the kids like him and already respect him.
After class we headed to the library to pick up the holds that I had in. Class had run over and there wasn't enough time for Daughter to volunteer until we had to head back to the Y for my Zumba class and for Chris to work out. What I had in had me squeeing and doing a little wiggle at the check-out desk.
*G* Fantasy in Death by J.D Robb! The library ordered 8 copies and since I was 5th in Hold.... I've already read two chapters since we headed upstairs for bed and I can tell I'm going to have to force myself to put it down. Ah, but, I also picked up Julie & Julia from hold as well. And while taking a bit of time to look around I found two more books and another movie. To be honest I'm usually not a James Patterson fan, but the subject matter of the book I picked up is very interesting. The Murder of King Tut by James Patterson and Martin Dugard is non-fiction and seems very intriguing. Another book I picked up features an author that I recently learned is going to be at my states Book Festival at the end of the month. Celia Rivenbark is known for her Southern Humor and I wanted to give her a try. So, I picked up Bless Your Heart, Tramp is hopefully a humorous look at Southern life through the eyes of an actual Southerner. I can tell you already that "Bless Your Heart" is definitely used to this day and is usually followed by what sounds like a compliment, but isn't. Oh, and the other movie I picked up,  Vikings: Journey to a New World was originally seen in IMAX movie theaters. I'm hoping it's a good look at the historical subject.

After gathering everything up we headed back to the Y where I went to change and head to class and Chris went to change and head to workout. I have to be honest and say that my feet were killing me from the moment we started, but I made it through the class by sheer determination. And afterwards I asked Chris to please head to WW for a quick trip so I could pick up and try some Orthotics that I'd been recommended. I'm really hoping they help. And to help them work, we also picked up some ibuprofen since we'd been out. We then headed home where we made dinner and I took care of some household things. We've since eaten and had a nice evening and before we knew it, it was time to head for bed. And I've since picked up the J.D. Robb book and forgot about posting for a while. But, I know it's time to get some sleep, so I was good and put the book away, for now. *G*

All that said, it's time for sleep. I hope y'all had a terrific Tuesday. I wish a wonderful and laugh-filled Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 1 (Painful) hour of Zumba. And I STILL had fun. *G*

A long and stressful Monday!

Today started with Chris leaving a bit early to drop his car off at the mechanics. We had just about decided to fix it up instead of looking for a newer car since we couldn't find a reasonable used car. However, Chris called at lunchtime. (Since this was just a looksee (I can't remember the word for this, sorry.), to know what all needed to be done, not the actual repairs.) The estimate to fix his car was over $3000. To be honest? The car wasn't worth that much and we didn't want to spend more money on it when it already had close to 200,000 miles. Finding something was hard. Very hard, for Chris that is. *G* I looked online this afternoon and found two cars for him to go look at after work. Especially since the car he had called about and tried to see a week ago? The volvo? Was STILL in the shop. No thank you. (And they raised the price to cover the cost of the repairs, that just didn't sit well with me.) SO, I sent Chris the information and off he went after work. While I was in Yoga I received a text. He really liked one of the cars I'd picked out for him. A lot. Let me repeat, he texted me DURING class! That meant he really, really liked it because he knows better than that. *G* I let him know it was ultimately his decision because he'd be the one driving it, gave him an firm number on the price and how much we could put down, let him know how much we were hoping for his car in trade and told him to do what he thought was best. And I know y'all are wondering why I am the one making those decisions? It's because ever since we knew we were car shopping seriously I have been doing a lot of research. A lot. Also, I handle our finances and know what we can and can't afford. AND when I was young my Mom sold cars, so I have an understanding of salesmen and car company's.  So, after a hefty down payment and lots of paperwork and time we are now the proud new owners of a Toyota Matrix. I really didn't want a car payment, but we do what we have to do sometimes to keep a loved one safe. (And God willing we'll pay it off early anyway.) And the best part? When he goes out of town I get to drive it. *G* Shhhh, don't tell Ruby! (My jeep.)
Now, back to your regularly scheduled blog!

This picture was taken last Thursday when I was packing my gym bag. Butterscotch decided he was just too curious and climbed in while I was choosing shorts. He's just too funny! At one point he sat down and looked as though he might take a nap. I had to make him get out! Maybe he wanted to go to the Y? *G*

Well, one of my stressful things was taken care of, as described above. So, one down way too many left. However, the kids and I managed to get up early today and have all their schoolwork done early as well. So much so that I had time to vacuum, take pictures of the armoire and treadmill (I'm still wondering if I should try and consign them or list an ad online, hence the pictures though that option is just a tad scary to me.) and take care of LOTS of laundry before having to leave this evening. And tomorrow? I get to pick up Julie and Julia from the library! YAY! Oh, AND I was able to put Fantasy in Death by J.D. Robb on hold this evening. That made my day. *G* (I'm number 5 on the list!)  As for reading, I picked up the second book I picked up at the library last week, the new to me author and Romantic Christian genre book. Now, I have absolutely nothing against Christian books and have enjoyed several in the past couple of months. However, I prefer when everything is low-key, not feeling as though I'm being knocked over the head by it. So, the book is a DNF for me, which is rare, and will go back to the library tomorrow. Hopefully some of my other holds will come in soon. Cross your fingers, please!
I almost forgot! You know how my feet have been hurting lately? One of the ladies at Yoga that I talk with has suggested that my symptoms sound like Plantar Faciitis. Considering I waited so long to replace my tennies and that I also have a high arch? It may be true. But, putting off visiting the Doctor until I've tried treating it on my own.
There's nothing much else to share. It's been a very long day and I am exhausted. I hope y'all had a pleasing and low-key Monday. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Yoga.

A Lovely Sunday!

I wanted to share this picture with y'all. I took it this afternoon. Mother Nature is trying to trick us into thinking it's Spring, because it was 64 degrees here today. I know for a fact it will be colder later this week, so no Spring, yet. *g* However, we did take advantage of the warmth and sun today and opened the windows for a bit this afternoon. Of course there was a mad rush for the window sill and unfortunately a couple of kitties didn't get to sit in the window. (Not then, anyway.) Pictured here (L-R): Fireball, Midnight, Pepper and Patches. Butterscotch is looking up and hoping to have a turn. *G*

Since we didn't make it to Mass yesterday we went this morning and I was reminded of why we usually go on Saturday afternoon. My kids? Are SO not morning people. Daughter was cranky and Son fell back asleep 4 times after being woken up. But, they survived and we let them head outside when we arrived home to play with their friends and to practice their moves for their MA class. I took care of yet more laundry and then headed to Zumba. After the class there was a Ballroom Dancing demonstration for a class that will be starting in April (for those willing to pay for it). We even learned a simple dance, the Fox Trot. I was drafted to dance with the instructor at one point and I warned him that while I may have rhthym, I don't have coordination. *G* But, I did fine and didn't embarrass myself. When I arrived home I was telling Chris about the upcoming class and he suggested that maybe we take it together. It would give us something to do together and we are both rather embarrassed over the fact that neither of us know how to dance. Jeez. The Shag is STILL big here and we have no clue on how to do it! I'm thinking about it, but we'll see how the timing works out.
After all that we set about putting in two new stairs. We are ever so slowly replacing our carpeted stairs with oak stairs. We've started by buying one here and there every now and then. Chris had a bit of trouble with the nails and nailing the stairs down. He bent around 15 nails total and joked about how they must have been defective. I told him that with all the crown molding we want to put up (this house is PLAIN) and the rest of the stairs we still have yet to do, that we may want to look in investing in a nail gun. Considering he hit his thumb, he's very eager to do so. *G* Of course he also did his usual joking around with lots of "oops". "Whoops". And "huh, shouldn't have done that's".  Is there any wonder I had the hammer at one point and may have threatened him? *G* No worries, though. He's safe and unharmed. While he was cleaning up I started dinner and from there we've had an uneventful and simple evening. I haven't read anything because, to be honest, I am flat out tired. I just wanted to sit quietly this evening. I'll either read at bedtime, or maybe find time tomorrow.

I was contacted this afternoon to review a Children's book by Timothy Battle. It's titled Mr. Bo Finds a New Home and a New Name. I am unable to review the book (Amazon needs to move that software along for a Mac to run kindle), but I did let the author know I'd mention it here on my blog as it contains the premise of adopting a kitty and y'all know how near and dear to my heart that subject is. *G* The book is available as a kindle download at Amazon and more information can be found at: Mr. Bo Books

And that's all from me. I hope y'all had a peaceful and sunny Sunday. I wish a stress free and pleasant Monday. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba, 10 minutes (max.) learning the fox trot and dancing it.

Kitty hotel tent!

Actually, it's not THAT big, but this kitty tent has two stories and the kitties love it. Here we have Pepper on the top bunk and Midnight in the bottom cube.  They slept there for at least an hour the other day and I thought it was cute as they napped together. I wish y'all could see Pepper compared to Midnight now. She's getting so big!

It's been yet another long day here. Chris took my jeep and had another new tire put on. That means we've replaced all four tires in the last year and a half. Since he was out he also had my jeep washed. He was so nice I asked him what he'd done? Or, if that wasn't it, what did he want? *g* He continues to say he didn't do anything, but I have my eye on him. *G* (Actually, I think he's feeling a little guilty because I asked him to check the oil in the jeep several times last month and he didn't (I can't figure out how to get that heavy hood up!) and then I told him how low the gauge had gone and he checked and I was TWO QUARTS LOW! GAH! (No worries, he put oil in.) Anyway, today he took care of that and then came home and picked the kids and I up. We headed out to Petsmart to pick up cat food since WW had been out, not to mention there was a sale. The we headed to Dick's Sporting Goods to find Daughter a pair of tennies. It was harder than we had thought it would be. Finding size 11 wasn't the hardest part, finding them in wide width? Not quite so easy. But, we found a pair. And they cost more than MINE! Phew! *G* After that we headed to Best Buy, Chris runs Windows on a partition on his computer for his schoolwork and some things for work. And his is about to expire and we were looking to see how much it would cost to pick it up for him. However, good thing he checked. It's cheaper on Amazon. We then headed to the mall to J.C. Penny. We needed to replace a pair of pants for Chris that I won't let him wear anymore. What? They're supposed to be black. Trust me, when I can tell exactly where he wears his wallet because they're that faded? Time to replace. While there the kids and I surprised him and picked him up a new shirt and tie as well. Daughter picked out the tie and it's very pretty. We then headed home. After all that we were tired. *G* And Daughter was, of course, starving.

I didn't get a chance to read today because while Chris was gone I took care of some more laundry and the ironing. *G* And tonight? Well, the nights not over yet. *G* As for what to read? I'm not sure. I'm probably going to pick up the other library book that came in this week. The premise sounds funny, so cross your fingers.

That's all from me. I'm not that interesting, so sorry if this was really boring! *G* I hope y'all have had a fun and exciting day. I wish a peaceful and Blessed Sunday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: I did a ton of walking today, I'm hoping that counts.

Pepper discovers a love of cars!

Son was playing in the kitchen yesterday afternoon with one of his HotWheels cars and Pepper decided she wanted to play, too. Son would roll it toward her and she'd smack it back toward him. They were so cute playing together that I had to take this picture. *g*

Another busy day. Whew! I can say that I am now glad that it's officially over. I can say that as I'm typing this so late. *g*
Today was testing day for the kids, just the usual spelling and vocabulary tests. They both did well, thank goodness. Afterwards I vacuumed and took care of some more laundry and then Daughter and I sat down and made the "menu" and shopping list for the next two weeks. We do our best to plan meals two weeks at a time and to pick up most the groceries and household items needed for those two weeks at one time.  It helps us to stick to a budget, and takes the guess work out of what we'll be cooking instead of standing in front of the pantry or refrigerator trying to think of what to make with the weird ingredients we find there. *g* After making up the list the kids and I headed out. And hit a ton of traffic. *sigh* But, we made it to Aldi and made it though in record time, not that it's hard since it's a small store. We then headed to Sam's where Chris met up with us. He has to be on hand to shop with us at some point because I have no idea what he'll want for his lunches. Again, we made it though pretty quickly and were waylaid on the way out of the store by...... can you guess? GIRL SCOUT COOKIE TIME! *G* We bought three boxes. Two boxes of the Caramel D-lights for the kids and a box of the Lemonades for Chris. I was good. *g* Chris and the kids broke into their boxes of goodies on the way to WW. *G* And my kids? Are not afraid to take food INTO the grocery store. Daughter's excuse? "But they know they don't sell these here!". *G* Unlike me, Daughter does not have a big sweet tooth, but she does love those cookies. We were waylaid again on the way out of WW, but I just held Daughter's box aloft and they said thanks for supporting the Girl Scouts. *G* Did y'all know Daughter was a girl scout? She was until we moved here from CA. She was a brownie until then and was getting ready to move to another level when we moved. After we finally settled here I tried to contact the local council but was rudely ignored. Twice. At that point, I gave up and tried to find something else.
Oops. Of track there. *G* After we were done at WW we headed home and to be honest, Chris nor I felt like cooking so we cheated and had take-out. I can truthfully say that I adore Chipotle and since today was a no-meat day we had veggie burritos. And you know what? DELICIOUS. Yum. *G*
Since getting home and putting everything away and putting away the laundry I've been trying to relax. *g*
I can say one thing, though. After all the shopping today my feet are killing me, especially my heels again. AND did they stop making the Bit O'Honey candy? Because I wanted something sweet today and couldn't find any anywhere! So sad. *pout*
As for reading? Well, I picked and started one of the books I had come in from the library yesterday, the YA, and I made it about 3/4's of the way through before I had to put it down. It bugged me that I could practically guess everything that was going to happen. Oh, well. (I have given my opinion of a book, but left it up to you whether you're interested enough to check out the title from yesterdays blog post, this eases my conscience a bit on not liking it and telling y'all I put it down.)
As for what's up next? I read Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich again. I am buying this book when it comes out in paperback later this year, it cracks me up that much. I let Daughter read the scene in the backyard and she cracked up! Then she asked me which book was my favorite and for the life of me, I really think it's hard to choose. Though, the one with Uncle Moe and the body on the Freeway? Yeah. *g* CRACKS ME UP! One thing bothers me about the series. She started out with a Ranger/Morelli triangle with Stephanie, but as the books have moved along, as much as she keeps trying to push that triangle, at the same time you can see exactly who Stephanie will end up with. And I don't like the character who I believe she'll end up with. So, that part of the books? I just want to skip that part in each one now. (One of the reasons why I liked 'Fifteen so much was that that character was limited within the pages. What are your thoughts on that? Do you like the push toward a triangle, or are you ready for something else? And will you be trying the new series with Diesel later this Summer?

Time to head offline. I'm up way too late again. I hope y'all had an Enjoyable and Fantastic Friday. I wish a relaxing Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Day off. If you can count walking all over the place grocery shopping taking the day off. *G*

Brothers take a time out, for nap time!

Sometimes it's hard to believe these two are brothers, except for the stripes they don't look much alike. Butterscotch is long and lean and has eyes that are like burnished gold. Fireball seems to harken back to their kitty ancestors with his prowling walk and muscular frame. His eyes are just a tad green and of the two we kinda think he's the more handsome. Butterscotch's nickname is Squirmy Wormy, because of the way he wiggles whenever held, especially for claw clipping and Fireball? His nickname is Goat. Because we have to be very, very careful not to leave anything around he can chew on. (He's already down one kitty life because of that, we're not letting him lose anymore for that.)

Another long day here. I've been running since my feet hit the floor. Granted, not literally, but I have done laundry and cleaned in the morning and then this afternoon we took care of schoolwork before heading off to an extra MA class at the other Y (which is not in our town, but the same county). The kids had a blast, so it was worth the time it took to drive there. However, good golly was it chilly in there! The classes at that Y (the Y itself is about 30 years old and they're planning to build a new one within the next few years) are held in an old racquetball court (and I watched from above) that no longer has heat running to it. I swear it was colder in there than it was outside today! The kids are learning a lot from their new teacher and we're learning some not-so-pleasant things about their old MA teacher because of it. We're learning that if he had tested Daughter when he said he was (telling us she was ready), then when passing her, he would have done her a disservice. There are more moves that she (and Son) need to know that were never even taught to them to test for the green belt. It would have caught up with her at her next tournament. Today the new MA teacher sat down with her and Son after class and went over Daughter's handbook and showed her and Son exactly what they need to know and what they'll need to be working on to test, in another month or so. I really like this teacher's integrity and honesty.

After that the kids and I headed by the other Y so I could work out and then home where we met Chris. Chris has been driving by a car lot or two after work this week looking at their inventories. We're not hopeful at this moment, though. Most the cars on the used car lot are no older than 2-3 years. Since we want to pay cash that's out of our budget. We've thought of a private seller, but that's just scary. Also, Chris had to be home before the kids and I did because he's setting things up to start his Doctorate after he has finished his Master's and needed to take a call to get that going. And those classes will probably start in July. I just shake my head and call him my professional student; though I am, of course, very proud of him.

After the Y, the kids and I stopped by the library and picked up two of my holds that had come in. I now have Fools Rush In by Janice Thompson. The one thing I really enjoy about Amazon in that when you are looking at books on there there's a line of books that is usually around 30 books, that are recommended. I like to look at those and when I bought The Cubicle Next Door  by Siri L. Mitchell last month (and really liked it) they recommended the Janice Thompson book. The library had it and I've had it on hold ever since then and it finally came in today! YAY! I also placed Girl v. Boy by Yvonne Collins and Sandy Rideout (a YA) on hold because of Amazon's recommendations. I'm about a fourth of the way through it so far and it's an interesting premise with a serious girl who is singled out by a teacher to write a females perspective on a Literacy fundraiser while another male student will write the male's perspective. They don't know who each other is and I am just to the point where the sparks (in their school newspaper) are starting to fly. It's a fun and a light read and since I've been so busy lately, I need that. Why are there not more fun, comedic, light romances written anymore? I like paranormal, but I'm getting tired of the doom and gloom. I want fun. I want laughs. *sigh* I want to read a book that doesn't have the world about to end. What about y'all? Are y'all the same way, or are y'all happy with the status quo with book trends lately?

Hmm, I think I've been a bit too wordy tonight. Sorry about that. I hope y'all have had a light and sunny Thursday. I wish a fun and fantastic Friday for y'all. Goodnight and smiles, B.

Exercise: 10.25 miles on the bike @ level 10, weight machines. Quite a few of them. *G*

Athena the shy kitty!

I don't remember the last time I posted a picture of Athena, so.... when I was able to take a picture of her today, I snapped a good one! *G* She's a sweet girl. But,  very talkative and a bit bigger than she looks. Isn't she pretty? *G*

It's been a long day. Mostly because I've been tired all day. *g* That's what I get for not being able to sleep much last night! *G* In good news I not only finished the Joan Hess book (very funny), but I also finished Shrinking Violet by Danielle Johnson and then read Diva by Alex Flinn. That last book was about a teenage girl who has survived an abusive relationship and is trying to follow her dream to be an Opera singer despite opposition from her Mom and old friends. She tries out for, and gains admission to, a performing arts school and learns to survive a bumpy road to believe in herself. I liked how the author handled all the relationships in the book, between the girl, her mother, her old best friends, new best friends and school. Next up? I haven't figured it out yet. *G* But, I have choices. Always a good thing. AND the library finally must have heard my mutterings of dissatisfaction because they finally added two books I've been wanting to the online catalog. WHEEEEEE!

This evening the kids and I headed out to Ash Wednesday Mass, stopping along the way for fuel. It was dang cold outside with a brisk wind. I think at one point my hand wanted to freeze to the gas pump. But, I survived and off we went. We arrived before Chris, early-my favorite way to be anywhere, and saved him a seat. Good thing, too. Afterwards we headed home and made dinner. I'm again confronted with trying to come up with meat-free recipes. And while I don't eat a lot of meat anyway, I am married to a definite carnivore. And daughter is the same way. So, any good recipes you want to send my way containing cheese, please let me know because I do NOT eat seafood. At all. Ick. But, cheese? Y'all know I'm a cheese-a-holic. *G* And now I'm in the mood for quiche. But, the rest of my family doesn't like it. Stinkers.
You know what I've noticed? That when Chris and I were first married we were more adventurous about trying new recipes, but that as time has gone by and we've had kids were more likely to stick with old favorites and family recipes. My family recipes anyway. His mom is famous in our family (meaning Chris the kids and I) for not being able to cook. *G* Is it the same way with y'all?

That's all I have tonight. My brain is mush. I hope y'all had a wonderful Wednesday. I wish a thankful and thoughtful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: Day off. (Good thing too, I'm sore from the chest press.)

A good library haul!

I've been too busy to take pictures of the cats today, so you'll have to forgive me. Instead have a gander at the pile of books I picked up from the library today. One of these I've already read (the Evanovich) but I wanted to reread a certain scene that made me laugh so hard I almost cried. And I was nice and didn't post a small spoiler for whoever may not have read the book yet. *G*

It's been a busy day. Even before starting schoolwork I took care of some laundry and vacuumed the house. Then we tackled some school work, but not all because of the early timing of the kids MA class. Today's class went very well. The kids and I agree that this new teacher is awesome. He made sure they knew who was boss and that he wouldn't tolerate interruptions. He was surprised at how lax the former MA teacher had been in teaching the kids and was also surprised at how much the former teacher charged us for belt testing. Turns out that I? Was totally ripped off. This guy even stated that he would teach this class for free if need be. Like I said, he's awesome. He also calls me Karate Mom. I know it's because he hasn't learned my name, but it cracks me up. Whenever he had a question about the former teacher or about what the kids had already learned he'd call out "Karate Mom!, to ask me. Too hilarious. I'm thinking of finding a bumper sticker......... *G*
After class the kids and I headed to the library for Daughter's usual time and Son and I walked around, looking and picking up some things (Including the books above. Ooh, just realized the book I checked out on built-ins isn't in that picture.) I don't know why, but the library is dragging their feet in adding a few books I'm looking for to the card catalog for check out. Don't they know that I NEED books? *G*
Have I ever mentioned how small our local branch is? The mystery section is one side of one row of bookshelves. The Sci-Fi/Fantasy section is the same. The YA section is a bit bigger with one row that is front and back with the graphic novels on spinning racks and the newer books on a small bookshelf. The regular fiction is about 4.5-5 rows of front to back and the rest is non-fiction, ooh, and the Youth section is the biggest. We also have 2 magazine shelves with storage and the usual rows of DVD's and other mulit-media things. It sounds bigger than it is, since I can stand on one side of the library and see to the other side and even almost talk to someone in a regular voice. *G* I only mention this because I have pretty much been through all the fiction shelves and even a few shelves in the non-fiction area. So, today? I picked up quite a few off the YA shelves. Normally I stick to the new books in that area, but today I actually looked at the shelves, so that's what most of today's check-outs were.
I now have:
Diva by Alex Flinn (YA)
The Boyfriend League by Rachel Hawthorne (YA)
Samurai Girl by Carrie Asai (there was a movie made based on the book series-on either ABC family or Disney, can't remember which.)(YA)(Though the heroine is old enough to get married.)
Journey Between Worlds b Sylvia Louise Engdahl (a Sci-Fi YA)(Heroine is also old enough to be married.)
Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich
Shrinking Violet by Danielle Joseph (YA, about an extremely shy girl. Gee, wonder why I could relate? *G*)
New Built-Ins Idea Book by Sandor Nagyszalanczy (Gorgeous bookshelves.)
And I still have the Joan Hess to finish, though I'm just about there.
After the library we headed back to the Y to meet Chris, who ended up working late, so I worked out alone. While on the bike (trying to give my feet a small break) I started the Danielle Joseph book since it was a Trade and not a hardback. It was a good read, btw. Anyone who has ever had dreams, but was afraid to make them come true and then overcomes (somewhat) what kept them back AND get's the guy? Would understand. And to do all that and be almost panic attack shy, well, the book resonated with me.
After working out I grabbed the kids and we headed home. We met Chris and have since made dinner and actually gone to bed. But, I couldn't sleep (and gave up and read instead) and then thought I'd just make some banana bread since I was awake anyway. *G* But, now it's time for sleep. I think it'll be better this time. *G*

I hope y'all had a terrific and smile filled Tuesday. I wish a wonderful and maybe slightly wacky Wednesday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 10 miles in the bike at level 9, weight machines.
I took this picture of Pepper this afternoon. She was enjoying her time in the sun. And I couldn't resist taking her picture. *G*

Another return to Monday here. The kids and I tackled schoolwork early so that we could leave a bit early and return the tennies this afternoon before Yoga. I know I had to have tried on another 6 pair before I found another pair to try. It was also hard to find some shoes in my size. I must have an popular shoe size! Daughter decided she was going to look around as well and found a pair she liked. However, I had to burst her bubble and explain that I wasn't spending that much money on a pair of tennies for her because she doesn't take care of her shoes. And trust me, they were expensive. The pair I ended up with were actually cheaper than the pair I had originally bought. And no, that's not why I bought them.

After that we headed to the Y and had to park at the end of a long field because our Y was hosting a state swim meet. I didn't mind walking from where we parked, but the kids complained the whole walk to the Y. *g* Chris didn't work out tonight because after work he was going by to look at a car. However, the salesman had not informed him the car that was being advertised? Was in the dealers repair shop. Uh-huh. Chris left and went home. Our Yoga class was a bit different tonight, we actually had two teachers. Our regular teacher taught for the first half hour of the class and then left to watch her Daughter swim in the swim meet and then another teacher took over. The differences between the two teachers style was like night and day. With the first (my favorite) teachers being the day and the fellow we had after her being night. I know the fellow and he's very nice, but he's also VERY athletic and he focuses on the strength part of Yoga. (I've mentioned his wife on here before, she's the one I don't like and yes, they both teach Yoga. However, I'd rather have the husband than the wife!)
After class I gathered the kids and we headed to the field. It was VERY chilly and windy so we decided to run most the way. *G* We headed home and Chris and I chatted while making dinner. We talked about what will be going on this week and I also hunted down his paper that shows we own his car outright. (Sorry, can't think of what that's called right now, call it a blank moment.) We watched in amazement as Son put away a large (for him) quantity of food for dinner and we all settled down for a bit.
I've read a few more chapters of the Joan Hess book. The characters are exactly as I remembered them and it's fun catching up with them. As usual there are some weird hijinks pulled off in the Ozarks and I have missed reading about them. *G*

That's all from me. It's been a pretty quiet day here. Tomorrow promises to be busy, as usual. Tomorrow is also the day the new MA teacher starts. Cross your fingers for him as well. The kids have been practicing tonight and I was even enlisted to help! *G* I hope y'all had a pleasing and low-key Monday. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Yoga!

Mostly Gone!

The gorgeous, beautiful snow is gone. Well, most of it. Some spots still sport a few patches, but most has melted. This is, after all, the South. *g* I doubt we'll see any more, but it was a joy to have it even that short amount of time. This is the River Birch tree in my front yard. Doesn't it look lovely with snow on it's branches?

It's been a rather uneventful day here. The Out-laws visited for a while this afternoon and brought the kids some Valentine's Day treats. I got coupons. Uh-huh, MIL is nice enough to bring me the the coupons she doesn't use. Don't knock it. After they left we had to run out to the pharmacy and went "window" shopping for a car for Chris. His is pretty old and he'd like to find something a little younger. However, I don't like car payments, so we're looking for something we could pay cash for. However, it's not that easy. He found ONE he liked (and that fit our criteria) and we went to look at it, only it wasn't on the lot. *sigh* We then headed home and I spent almost two hours ironing and Chris made dinner. As for "Valentine's Day?" Well, he made me a card. And he's sort of helped with laundry today. Other than that-nada. I made sure the kids had a little candy and they liked the cards I made them. And the ones they made me were very sweet. *G*
As for the rest of the night? Dinner was simple and we spent time together. The kids watched Aliens in the Attic and said it was hilarious. Son especially liked it, meaning there were lots of slapstick. Boys are easy to please. *G*
Um, btw, as for the tennies? I have to take them back. I made sure to wear them today to see how'd they'd be and my heels kept slipping in them AND they kept pulling my socks down. I don't know if it's because I bought them a half size bigger than my usual 8.5 or if it's just the shoes. I've always bought my tennies a half size big, so I don't understand. I'll take them back some time this week and try my regular size. If not, well, I don't know what I'm going to do. AND my heels are hurting again tonight. I think that may have a lot to do with my ironing time, though.

I've finished Firespell by Chloe Neill, a YA. I'd classify it more as a paranormal that an Urban Fantasy because while it's dark, there is lots of teen sarcasm, angst and some good humor as well. The story is interesting. A teenage girl is sent to a boarding school to live for two years while her parents are in another country for work. She discovers all is not as she thought, that there is magic in the world and that there is, as always, a battle between good magic users and evil magic users. However, the way the story is structured and the way the kids interact are different than many other YA's I've read recently. There are still many mysteries to solve, so I'm glad to know this will be, hopefully, a series of books. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next in the series. And now I'm back to reading the Joan Hess book. I've about 3 chapters in, I wish more but have run out of time today. Are y'all reading anything good? Has anyone read the newest Kathy Carmichael book, Diary of a Confessions Queen ? I think it sounds really interesting (Sorry, I know I use that word a lot, but I find lots of things interesting!). And I've read a couple of interviews with the author and the book sounds like it will be a good mystery. I'm waiting, impatiently, for the library to add it to the online catalog. *G*

And that's all from me. It's very late. I forgot to post earlier because I was reading. I hope y'all had a restful and pleasant Sunday. I wish a low-key and happy Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Nope. Back to yoga tomorrow. I'm going to have to fight to find a parking space, too. Our Y is hosting a swim meet. Cross your fingers......

Kitty Love!

Here, on my bed napping, are Midnight and Pepper. They were cuddled together looking cute and I couldn't resist taking their picture tonight. They were back to back, but Midnight heard my phone click to take the picture. Stinker.

It's been a long day. The kids were up early to go play in the snow before it melted meaning I had to get up early, too. This afternoon we had a call from the Out-laws. MIL wanted to come over this afternoon, but we already had plans, so they'll be visiting tomorrow instead. We headed out and made it by the library where I picked up a hold that had sort of come in. By sort of, I mean that I had it on hold, but the online catalog showed it on the new books shelf. Well, I looked and it wasn't there. It wasn't in on hold. So, I did what any person who is desperate to read a certain book do. I asked one of the librarians. (It helps that she knows us all by name. First name. *G*) Turns out the book was going to be placed out on the new book shelf, but at that moment it was behind the desk. *G* And the outcome? The book is MINE to read now.  I can't wait to dive into The Merry Wives of Maggody  by Joan Hess. I have been waiting YEARS to read this book. YEARS! I don't know why it's taken so long to be published, but I am thankful it was.
The kids looked around the library, but Son is on a Garfield comic book thing right now and is rereading all of mine and wasn't interesting in anything. Daughter has yet another book report due, so no checking out books for her this time. Chris didn't see anything he wanted in the Graphic Novel section he liked, so he read a magazine while I checked out the whole "where is this book" situation" and then I looked over the newest issue of The Smithsonian magazine. There was a good article about the Sphinx and the village discovered near it. I also had no idea that groundwater was rising under the Sphinx and that it was eroding the INSIDE of the Sphinx so they're now pumping it away. Thank Goodness!
Oh, sorry. After that we headed to Staples, the office supply store. I don't know about y'all but I LOVE office supplies. Daughter is the same way and she and I were oohing and ahhing over the clips and folders and such. But, we only picked up what we went in to get. I file each months paperwork (bills, receipts and such) and my current file folder (for the last two years) is full. I needed a new one, but WW and Target didn't have one that I liked. So, I picked up one at Staples instead. And that was the only thing I bought. I was good. *G*
After that we headed to Academy Sports. I've been putting off getting new tennies. But, Chris insisted since I've been hobbling around, badly, this week. It's weird. My heel hurts really bad for a while when I get on my feet after sitting down. Then the longer I walk the more I can ignore it. Until I sit down again (Or take really big strides, which though I am short, I tend to do) and it starts all over again. Anyway, at Academy I had to have tried on 8 pair of tennies. Chris was pretty sweet about it, looking on the higher shelves for me, insisting I go past my personal price point, even making me try on a $100 pair of tennies because the shock absorber things were supposed to really be great (they weren't that great and those shoes were SO not worth the price being asked). I tried those on to humor him, but no way would I spend that much on my shoes. I ended up with another pair of Nike. (Good for people like me with high arches.) I spent a little more than my personal price point, but not as much as Chris was trying to get me to spend.
After that we surprised the kids and took them to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. I've read the first book in the series and enjoyed it, so was happy to see how that translated to the big screen. I will say this, the book is good. The movie is good. But, do not go to the movie expecting it to closely follow the books. It doesn't. It was, however, highly entertaining. And I know we all enjoyed it. I'm sure we'll be picking that one up on DVD when it's released. I like how the books, and the movie, will hopefully get a new generation interested in the Greek/Roman mythology. AND the author of the books is at work on a series of books featuring Egyptian mythology now. *g*
After that we'd had a full day and headed home. Where we all had dinner and then set about to hand make our Valentine's Day cards. This is the first year we've done this (besides the usual kids making parents cards thing) and we had a blast making up cards. Chris made only one, but did it with the precision of a computer geek. Daughter went more artistic and Son, well, he did his best and I've seen my card already and it's cute. Mine? All I can say is I tried and had fun. Who knew how therapeutic cardstock, markers, glue and stickers could be. *G*
Since then we've all been getting ready for bed. Son is sounding hoarse and stopped up tonight and now I'm kicking myself for taking him out today. In my defense he's been pretty active all day. *Sigh* Playing in the snow. Bad Mommy. (It's just, we don't get snow often.) But, I should have known better. I hope he doesn't get sick again.

And that's all from me. I am exhausted. It's been a full day and now it's time to relax for a chapter or two of my new library book and then get some much needed sleep. I hope y'all had a relaxing and playful day. I wish a peaceful and Blessed Sunday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

P.S. Have a "Sweet" Valentine's Day! Big hugs and smooches to each of you! XOXOXO

Exercise: No, but lots of limping. Looks like it'll be lots of bike work for me this week at the Y.

Uber Simple Teen Chic!

These are the charms and sterling hoops Daughter begged for at Hobby Lobby. She had them put together in two minutes after we arrived home. Not only are they shiny, but they also are sparkly! *G* She loves them.  They're an early Valentine's Day present for her.

Regular post below this.

SNOW DAY! WOOT!

This picture was taken this afternoon, about 4:30pm. When they said we would see snow, they said just a dusting. I love snow and was a bit disappointed, but could have lived with that. However, it never stopped. It STILL hasn't really stopped and we've gone from a light dusting to about 3 inches. YAY! The kids and Chris and I had a blast playing outside in the snow this evening after I had to pick him up from work. *g*
This picture was taken this evening. About 8:30pm. The kids and I are having a blast! I put on one of Chris' old Gortex BDU coats and we had a snowball fight! Chris joined in for a bit, but we were a little too hyper for him and he ended up going inside.
I was glad I'd made beef stew with dumplings for dinner when I came in. *G*

This afternoon before the snow even started the kids and I headed out and went to Hobby Lobby for craft supplies. We picked up cardstock, stickers, clay, a stamp and stamp pad and some sterling hooks and charms for Daughter to make a pair of earrings out of. The kids had a blast and we were astonished to see snow flakes when we came out of the store. We then headed by the gas station so I could pick up some fuel and then headed home. I started dinner and we watched the flakes falling. Chris and I talked this afternoon and if started sticking to the interstate, then I'd pick him up from work, and that's what happened. I left the kids at home with Daughter in charge (and a neighbor as emergency contact and backup) and headed to pick up Chris. I've never driven the jeep in 4wheel drive before, but it was amazingly easy. It took longer on the interstate because of other drivers than it did the back roads that hadn't seen a plow. I picked him up and let him drive back home. He had a blast, if I'd have let him he'd have found some even deeper back roads. I just wanted to get home to the kids so told him no. *g*

We've since played and had dinner.  I made some cookies not too long ago and there is nothing like snow falling on the ground and warm cookies on the counter. Not to mention the smell is fabulous. *G*
Oh, I did finally realize something. I wore my tennies out today and when I arrived home this afternoon I noticed that my left heel was hurting. Like I had bruised it. I took my shoes off and felt around inside and found that in the heel there is now an absence of padding. I don't know if I can wear these shoes for another week. My heel feels bruised and I didn't even work out today, just walked around Hobby Lobby and then drove and picked up Chris.

As for reading? Not much actually. I have been pretty busy today and last night I started looking over my Crusie's and they're all so good I can't pick one! I think I'll reread Bet Me. It's been a while. I did have fun rereading my favorite scenes and passages from the books last night. Do y'all ever do that?

Anyway, time for me to head offline. I still need to take care of a few things and one of those is Chris, he now has a headache. I hope y'all had an enjoyable and lovely day. I wish a relaxing and pleasing Saturday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Does running around my yard like a maniac and having a snowball fight with the kids count? *G*

Fireball is such a handsome boy!

I snapped this picture the other night while we were getting ready for bed. Fireball almost looks as though he posed, don't you think? He's such a lovey-dovey boy, as long as you don't try to pick him up. Daughter says his face reminds her of a fox. *G* His nickname is Goat because he tends to try and eat EVERYTHING. His favorite thing to chew on? Cords, whether they be for headphones or cell phones or tv's. We have to hide those behind furniture. (Except for the headphones, those have to be hidden out of his sight when not in use.)

Well, today didn't go quite as planned. The night before last Son started coughing. Not much, just a little bit. Since we were all inundated with drainage, we figured it was allergies. No. Last night after class Son started coughing a lot. No fever, but lots of coughing and his nose was runny and stopped up at the same time. Ah-ha! Son has a cold. Not a major one, thank goodness. He was sick a few times last night because of the drainage (it doesn't sit well on his tummy), but nothing big. This morning he woke and I could count connect the dots with his freckles. He and I are normally pale anyway, but he was PALE. I knew he didn't feel well, so I tucked him back into bed and let him sleep for a while longer. I let Daughter know that today we were going nowhere. No extra MA class for her and no Y for me and no library for any of us.
Son woke feeling better, though still pale. He's improved as the day has gone on, but we've taken it slow today and stayed inside. By tonight he was talking up a storm and bouncing around. Though, to be honest, he's like that a lot when he's sick anyway. *G* He is the strangest child in that he hardly ever lets on when he doesn't feel well. It's usually a guessing game.
We'll see what tomorrow brings as far as how he feels, but I have a feeling this is a short lived cold.

As for reading today? I finished the Maryrose Wood book, What I Wore to Save the World. I really enjoyed the book and it read as the final book in the three book series. Which I hate, because I actually will miss the characters. I've also liked having a series Daughter and I both enjoy and can talk about together. There is no drugs, sex or violence in the books. (There is light kissing.) Always such a happy thing for a parent to NOT have in a book their teen is reading. Though, don't get me wrong. There is plenty of sweet romance, funny occurrences and our favorite-Mythology! These books involve Celtic Mythology and are truly good reads. I think we'll search out all three for our keeper shelves because I can see rereading them again and again.
After that I picked up DarkShip Thieves by Sarah A. Hoyt. But, I'm not in the mood to read it right now. I'm not sure what I'm in the mood to read, to be honest. I hope one of my holds comes in from the library soon because I'm back to being low on books. I have the Hoyt book, but am putting it on hold. I may read something from my keeper shelves. I think I might be in the mood for a Crusie. *g*

And that's all from me. I'm posting late because I'm keeping an ear out for Son. He's coughing more again trying to sleep. I know it's because the drainage is worse when he's lying down, but to a Mom? It's a worrisome sound. I hope y'all had a thankful and thoughtful day. I wish a fun and enjoyable Friday. (We're supposed to have rain. Not snow, like 6o miles SOUTH of us will see. Bleh!) Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: No Y. Tomorrow we'll see if I can walk on the treadmill. (Me heels are still sore, keeping the mantra in my mind that I WILL get new tennies soon.)

Pretty Blue Eyes!

I took this picture of Layla this afternoon. She was demanding attention. *G* Doesn't she look pretty? She has a blast sleeping in the sun this afternoon. She's my sweetie and as I type this is asleep under the bed, I can hear her snoring . *G*

It's been a long day. I'm not sleeping well so I woke today exhausted. If I could just take a day and not do anything.... Ha! We started schoolwork and things went well. I've decided to stop by Hobby Lobby sometime soon and pick up some craft items for the kids. I hadn't even realized I'd neglected that part of their education. Their curriculum comes with Art as a subject, but it's more of an Art history type thing. So, as I did with their Physical Education, I'll take care of it. This is one thing I miss about living in MS. The homeschool group there was fantastic and the local George Ohr museum had art lessons for kids at reasonable prices. Ah, well.
We left early today for RE, to take time to run by and have Son's hair cut. I could do it, but he practically gives me an anxiety attack every time I do buzz his hair. He can't seem to sit still and I'm always afraid I'll make it uneven and then try to fix it therefore making it more uneven until he has NO HAIR. *g* So, this time I took him to have it done. WHY doesn't he wiggle around and talk non-stop when someone else does it, but does with me? Stinker! Maybe the lollipop had something to do with it......
We then headed to RE. I sat with the kids until their classes were called and then headed to meet Chris at BAMM. I was good, no worries. I was tempted by the Hot Chocolate, but didn't buy any. I did pick up a book Daughter had been asking for-for her. Then we headed to pick the kids up. We all headed home together, had a nice dinner and I've been taking care of household things this evening.
When I get offline I'll probably read a bit in the library book I picked up last week that I forgot to mention. I forgot I had it because Daughter absconded with it and I just found it again! What I Wore to Save the World by Maryrose Wood (a YA). This is the third and I think final book in this series featuring celtic mythology and a High Schooler. The heroine is likable and funny. Daughter and I both enjoy the series.
That's it from here. I'm not sure what's up for tomorrow. I think Daughter wants to go to an extra MA class at the other branch. She wants to perfect her kata with her Sai's and needs feedback from the Sub. We'll see. Knowing her, she could change her mind about going. I hope y'all had a Wondrous Wednesday. I wish a thankful and thoughtful Thursday for y'all. Be Good. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Day off. Didn't feel like it, though. *sigh*

This "Baby" is getting big!

Pepper is getting big! She's a beautiful and chubby girl these days who continues to make us smile everyday. And she's also a little bloodhound! I made blueberry muffins for breakfast this morning and as soon as I sat down with one she was right at my feet staring at me with her cute eyes. *g*

Though the weather decided to be gloomy, today turned out well. I was feeling anxious in having to tell the Sub and other parents what I had found online. The sub had no idea but he thought it might be something like that. I did receive good news. He knew his role as sub would have to come to an end soon. He has other responsibilities (he's the aquatics director at the other Y branch) and he's also not able to test the kids. So, he contacted the MA instructor's Instructor (confused yet? *G*) for some names of who might be willing to take over the lessons. Luckily another black belt was willing and came today to observe the class and to take a few minutes to check over the kids. He's YOUNG. Probably mid twenties, but he's fierce and disciplined and the kids seemed to listen to him. They know he'll be different than their last instructor (who was too lenient) and also a bit different than the Sub. But, the kids took to him and as long as they listen and learn I'm happy. Funny tidbit about the new instructor- he's the same height as Daughter. *G* I'm just glad I don't have to pull them out of the program, that they won't lose their rank and that still have an activity to look forward to each week.
In other news, Daughter's new comforter arrived today. It's a lovely steel blue and has a pretty pattern on it in the same color. She already has it on her bed and is talking paint colors. *g*
After class the kids and I headed to the library, as usual for a Tuesday, and Son and I looked around. He also made another card for the shut-ins and had a blast decorating it with stickers and drawings. Sounds like I need to step up our craft projects. I'm not particularly crafty, so I've let it slide. I can cross-stitch and sew a little, but I've not done much besides that. (I was always more into music and books when I was younger, and still am to this day. I really miss singing sometimes.)
After the library we headed back to the Y to meet Chris. However, Chris called while I was there and said he hadn't had time to eat much today (He had a business call during lunch and had to answer some questions and cut short his break) and was feeling light-headed so he was going home. The kids and I said we'd meet him at home later and I enjoyed Zumba. Though, I do have to say my feet are killing me after these classes lately. Then I limp around for the rest of the evening. The only thing I can figure out is that I need new tennies because the inner cushioning in mine has deteriorated. Not a bad conclusion since I spend so much time working out, I guess. I don't know. My feet don't hurt on the treadmill (well, not nearly as much since they don't take as much of a pounding) and don't hurt on the bike or weight machines, so it's the only thing I can think of. It'll have to wait for a couple more weeks, but then I'll pick up a new pair.
After arriving home we picked Chris up, who'd had a snack by then and was feeling much better. (I had fussed at him and told him he'd better eat something.) We headed out to pick him up some after shave gel. I know I said no shopping, but this one wasn't my fault. I would have bought it for him when I was out this weekend, if I'd known he needed it. It's hard when he doesn't let me know these things and I am not a mind reader. Stinker. Then we headed home and had dinner and relaxed. Oh, and while out I bought Chris a new PC game for Valentine's Day. *G* He had to pick it out, so I let him go ahead and have it to play with tonight. I'll make him a nice dinner for Valentine's Day, no worries. *g*
In reading land......  (What? I figured y'all were getting tired of reading -"In reading news"-I'm trying to phrase it another way.)
I finished the Penny McCall book. It was a good read and a quick read. The book flowed along well and I enjoyed the story. After I finished it I picked up and read (I couldn't sleep much last night) Every Demon Has His Day by Cara Lockwood. The author is more well known for her chick-lit and this book is described as "Country fried chick-lit paranormal". All I know is, it was funny and cute and quirky. I really liked it and can't wait for the next in this new series. There is, of course, a semi-HEA (meaning the heroine and hero are left working toward it) and in the book good vanquishes over evil. Score one for the good guys! *G* I do wish the secondary characters of her best friend and a few others  were fleshed out more, but since the next book concerns the best friend, I think it's okay since that's what the next book is intended to do anyway. Are y'all reading anything fun? Looking forward to any books due out soon?
Oh, I used my new vacuum for the second time today and am really loving it. (Yes, I am weird that a vacuum can make me happy.) Did I mention it's a BAGGED vacuum. After having to mess with multiple filters and bagless vacuums that lose power it's nice to have one that I don't even get near the dust and pet dander this one picks up. Do you have any idea how hard it is to actually find a decent bagged vacuum these days? For those with allergies like us, they are a blessing, trust me. Thank goodness for Oreck! At least I restrained myself from getting the one with the UV light (mostly because only the Oreck stores and Best Buy carry that one). *G*

Nothing else going on here. We're pretty boring. I hope y'all had a good Tuesday. I wish a wonderful Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba! Had a great time!

Layla makes a lovely model!

I took this picture of Layla last night playing around with my camera. I long to have a better camera, but that's just not possible right now. Instead, I focus on the pretty images I can make, and share, here. Especially since I try and protect the kids privacy by not posting their pictures. *G* Oh, and while it looks as though her whiskers are growing down and back, they actually grow forward (some curl *G*).

I had a post all set up in my head to type out here, but right now I am upset. Tomorrow I'll take to the kids to their MA class and I'm pretty sure their teacher isn't coming back. I did a bit of online research this evening (I know their teachers MySpace) and he's recently checked in, as in today, and his location/address is now listed as Florida. Also, all mention of his karate school here has been wiped off the page and a link to another family member he knows, found though a search engine, shows that his Daughter is moving down there. I know it's her that is referenced even though a name isn't mentioned because her pregnancy is mentioned. I showed Daughter the address thing. She doesn't quite know what to think. I? Think that no matter what's going on in this man's personal life he should have had the utter decency to let the Y know, and ESPECIALLY the kids he teaches, that he wasn't coming back. I am ANGRY that someone has deserted my children when they look up to him. I am uncertain as to what I'm supposed to do with them now. The sub can't test them for belts and unless a new teacher is found that teaches the exact same type of karate-the kids ranking and belts are meaningless. Not to mention their weapons and training with those. And? The kids will be heartbroken. I'm actually moving past angry straight to furious! I understand life intervenes. I truly do. But, common decency and moral character would have had been nice in this instance.

Gee, other than that we've had a nice day.

In my reading I've actually managed to almost finish the Penny McCall book. All it took was a return to routine today to actually have time to read. *G* We were so busy this weekend I could only read one or two pages at a time and that was at bedtime. I've made up for it today. The story is good; buttoned up and repressed female accountant is rebelling against her faire follower parents by doing a 180 from the life she lived growing up. She's called back to help a friend of her parents, who has amnesia, but who is also a HOT FBI guy (though he doesn't know he's FBI). Add in a bumbling idiot (love the nickname given them by the heroine at one point: Larry, Moe and Curly Soprano) trio of bad guys who are working for Mr. Mysterious and it's been a fun read so far.

Anyway, that's all that's in my head right now. I know I shouldn't borrow trouble and assume things, but c'mon. What would you think given the only evidence I have been able to gather? Not to mention the MA teacher isn't answering his phone, and hasn't been for weeks. *sigh* If I could I'd stomp on his feet!
Argh! Back to where I was...... I hope y'all had a pleasing and lovely day. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Yoga.

P.S. You know those sensors we bought for the outside lights? I installed them today (Correctly, thank you!) while Chris was at work. When we arrived home from the Y this evening they would come on, sense their own reflection in the lights I installed them in and then turn themselves off. Then they'd sense there wasn't enough outside light and turn themselves back on. And on and On the cycle went. ALL three of them. *sigh* I'm taking the sensors back. The only way they'd work is if the outside lights were replaced with a different glass and the whole point was to save money-not spend upwards of hundreds more.

Layla watched Chris cook!

Tonight was one of Chris' nights to cook. And we had stir fry, YUM! Layla was most interested in the chicken in the Wok. She watched every move Chris made, waiting to see if he'd drop something. Poor baby, it never happened. *g* No worries, they'll be other chances for treats another day.

Today started behind and it felt like a game of catch-up all day, though there really wasn't anything to catch-up to-being a weekend and all. We stayed up late last night watching a movie: X Men Origins: Wolverine. I enjoyed the movie, but asked a bunch of questions of Chris because he has seen it before and I don't like bad things to happen. I probably drove him batty, but he's used to it. *G* I DID get to go to Zumba today, so that was good. I had a blast, though I admit some of the footwork (there this one move with a toe-heel-switch feet-to-heel-switch feet) that move always make me feel slow and awkward. However, I'm not the only one, so I guess that's okay. While I was gone Chris took the kids to GameStop to see if they could trade a PC game, but turns out they don't trade those. Oh, well. And remember how I said we weren't going shopping anymore? I was wrong we headed out when I arrived home to Lowe's where we picked up 3 light sensors for our outside lights. We tend to run them day and night because we forget to turn them off during the day, so now they'll only come on from dusk to dawn. We're hoping to save a bit of energy with them. After that we headed to Whole Foods (it was across the street). We don't shop there often but I was wanting some carob (but they were out, darnit!) and also wanted to try some Almond Butter because I can't stand peanut butter. (It was okay when I was pregnant, great for a gestational diabetic) but since then even the smell bothers me. So we picked up a small container to try. I also picked up a protien drink to try, but I have to be careful of those since most contain soy these days-found one to try up front-Chocolate Mocha. YUM! Only way you'll ever see me drink anything with coffee. After exploring the store (we don't get in there often) we headed home and Chris made dinner. Since we don't watch the SuperBowl we let the kids play on the Wii and it was a nice evening. I've also been taking care of a lot of laundry today and buzzed Chris' hair. I couldn't take care of it last night because my hands went tingly after ironing. Hence the movie. *G*
Anyway, this post is short because we are boring. I hope y'all had a Peaceful day. (And thanks for answering my too nosey question about what hangs over your bed! *G*) I wish a stress-free, low-key and pleasant Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: 1 hour Zumba! Fun, fun, fun!

What I have above my bed.

I have this sign on the wall above our bed. I found it in a favored store a few months ago. It seems to sum up Chris and I's relationship. I was looking for a sign that said "Always kiss me goodnight", but thought maybe that would be too cliched. *G* What do you have above your bed? Artwork? Or nothing at all?

It's been a LONG, LONG day. The Out-laws visited this afternoon but didn't stay long. FIL was a tired and nodded off a couple of times and seemed a bit out of it at one point. He said he'd only had some tylenol before visiting but Chris and I wondered if maybe he accidentally took one of his pain pills instead. MIL drove home and we called later on to check on him. He was better, thank goodness.
This afternoon we headed out on a mission. Daughter has asked for a look for her room and since it's been years, about around the time we bought this house, I decided it was time. So, we've been looking online and headed to the Mall to check out the big stores, too. J.C. Penny didn't have the one she liked online, so we looked at Belk's and Macy's. And she dragged us into a store called Hot Topic. It was a teenage wonderland. *G* I felt a little old in there, but we weren't the only parents in there. *G* I ddi see a t-shirt I liked. It had "And Buffy staked Edward, The End." on it. *G* (I am a bit sick of all the Twilight mania that has been going on. Neither had anything she really liked. She decided she really liked the one we had seen online so we ordered it when we arrived home this evening. We when visited Target to look at vacuum cleaners. With the two kids and eight cats the vacuum we have now has stopped working well (we seem to kill vacuum cleaners like crazy.) and I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I vacuum several times a week. *G* So, we again looked and bought a vacuum cleaner. This one better last a long time! Especially since we bought a nice one this time. AND this one has a 3 year warranty. The way we kill them, it's going to need it. We also looked for tennies for Daughter, but at the size she is at in shoes we couldn't find any that were comfortable. Not only are her feet, um, long. But, they are wide. We then headed to Marshall's to look for shoes for her, but they didn't have anything. I think we've hit that time where I have no choice but to spend actual money on shoes for her. *sigh* Since that means her shoes will now cost more than mine? Yeah.
After all that we headed home. I had had enough shopping and to be honest will be glad I won't see another store for about two weeks, unless we run out of some groceries.

All that leads up to me saying I haven't read anything today. We have been going in one way or another since our feet hit the floor today and I am tired. That also means no reading. I used my new vacuum and used it on the  entire house, though. *G* Oh, and I ironed tonight, too. I may fit in a couple of pages before I sleep. I hope.

That's all from me. It's been a long day. I need to try and get some sleep. I hope y'all had a relaxing and delightful day. I wish a peaceful and restful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Walking around that mall better count. *G*

Layla in my sink!

Um, I should start by telling y'all that Layla needed a little help getting up on the counter. And that we weren't sure she'd fit into the sink. But, she did fit and slept in there for about 2 hours before getting down, which she did fine on her own. Isn't she cute? *G*
(I took this picture with my cell phone.)

The day has been gloomy and gray and wet. Very wet. The bridge that passes through a tree farm down the road from us covers a river and the river was almost at the same level as the bridge by late this afternoon. It's also been darn right chilly! I can handle snow (I want snow!), but wind and rain and cold at the same time made for a miserable time when we had to go out grocery shopping this evening.
We made it to Aldi and Sam's and that's where Chris met us after work. We have been checking out carpet cleaners since ours died. (After 5 years of use, not bad I guess, but not great either. And if it could have been fixed, I'd have done that, but it can't. *sigh*) But, the ones at Sam's weren't what we were looking for. After Sam's we headed to WW where we picked up the last of our groceries. While there we looked at the carpet cleaners and found a Hoover we liked.
We then headed home and the kids ran upstairs and left me and Chris to get all the bags, as usual, because Clone Wars was on. *G* Then Chris deserted me to change and left me to put everything up. Uh-huh. I see how it is. *G*
We've eaten since then and Chris put together the new carpet cleaner and tried it out by cleaning the carpets in the LR. I wasn't going to complain! *g* I washed the curtains in the kitchen and LR while he did that and took care of folding some other laundry. In the midst of all that the kids were having a nerf gun war and whooping around the house. Our neighbors probably think we're weird. *G*

As for reading? I started the Penny McCall book, but only a few pages before I had to put it up and sack out last night. I haven't had time to read today and hope to find the time tonight before bed. Are y'all reading anything good? I hope so! Anyone besides me counting down the days until the next J.D. Robb book comes out? I know it won't be released until the 23rd, but I'm checking the library website every day. *G*

Anyway, time to get a shower and get some sleep. I'm up late again and thank goodness I can sleep a bit later tomorrow. I hope y'all had a fun and enjoyable Friday. I wish a relaxing and pleasing Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: Nope. Too much to do today. BUT, for sure Zumba on Sunday.

All dressed up and no place to go!

I showed y'all a funny picture of Oreo yesterday. Today I thought I'd show you a pretty picture. Oreo is a very dainty, formal and neat looking kitty. (One of the reasons we bought her a gorgeous hand painted bell for her collar.) However, don't let that fool you. She growls with menace. (Though doesn't do anything, just growls.) We're having a hard time picking a "voice" for her, a game we play where we try to think who the kitties would sound like if they could speak. What are your thoughts? Who do you think she'd sound like?

Not a great day for me. I couldn't sleep last night very well, a ringing started in my right ear and would not go away. I don't know what caused it, but could have done without it. I tried to ignore it and read Truly, Madly by Heather Webber. I highly recommend the book if you like light or cozy mysteries with a hint of romance. The heroine is unsure of her abilities but gains confidence in herself as the book goes on. I can't wait to read the next in the series later this year. (There is a small review, by me, here.)By the time the book was finished I was sleepy, but the ringing was still there. I finally fell asleep exhausted and woke with it still ringing later in the morning, but it eventually down graded and then finally went away. However, I have been left with a nagging headache all day. And extremely tired. *sigh* I would have called the Doc, but with the way she's reacted toward me before I figured she would think I was imagining it. I've been ignoring a few things lately just so I wouldn't have to make an appointment.

The kids and I have been working hard this week to catch them up for the three school days of work they missed. They are just about caught up and am seriously looking forward to the weekend. I don't blame them. Although, I'm not sure what kind of weekend we're going to have. The weather is weird. We were supposed to get mixed rain and sleet again and there's talk of roads icing up again. However, it started earlier today instead of tomorrow and it's more rain than anything. Too bad, we were looking forward to maybe seeing some snow. We haven't had any this year and really wanted some.

As for reading? We've really been working hard today, so no reading during the day today. Next up, I think is the Penny McCall book. I'm not sure yet. I do know the library hasn't called about any of the books I have on hold and I am eagerly awaiting the latest Arly Hanks book which I just was able to put on hold yesterday. I have been waiting YEARS for this book. YEARS.

All that said, it's time for me to head offline. I hope y'all had a thoughtful and thankful Thursday. I wish a fun and enjoyable Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Nope, was tired and afraid of icy roads, that never materialized, until it was too late to head to the Y.
