Pile On!

Layla is the kitten magnet. I don't understand it and I suspect she doesn't, either. *g* But, the kittens are somehow drawn to her. Einstein is the same way. He adores her and she tolerates him. Heck, he'll lay down on her and she'll give him a look and just stay in place. I think beneath her gruff exterior (she will swipe at them with claws held in) she secretly likes the attention.

As I write this I'm watching Einstein play with a pipe-cleaner ring. He's having a blast and rolling all over the floor and even meowing at it. It must have been a great hunt!
It's been a heck of a day. Daughter worked this morning and then when Son and I were there to pick her up someone had called in and quit. Five minutes before they were supposed to report for their life-guard shift. So, Daughter stayed and Son and I grabbed her some lunch and dropped it off and headed home until she was done. Since both our plans for the day didn't go well we decided to go swimming when she was off duty. Son had a blast, though had a nose-bleed not ten minutes after entering the pool area. No worries, it never touched the pool water and he cleaned up well and the bleed stopped quickly. He's been having sinus issues for a couple of days and I've been through this before with Daughter. Heck, when she was the same age she'd have more than one a week. A couple of times she'd have one in her sleep and not even wake up. The next day was gross, looked like she'd been in a horrible accident, but she was fine. I'll keep an eye on him, but the heat today probably didn't help. If this is May? At a high of 93 (not counting heat index) then what the heck is June going to be like? I don't want to know. Ugh. Especially since our humidity has been low today and you still walk outside and break a sweat.
Anyway, I swam laps while Son played and Daughter decided since she'd done a rescue and ended up wet she didn't want to swim after all. She walked around the pool area and chatted with a few friends. But, gave in and did get in the jacuzzi because her joints were bothering her.
Chris and I made dinner together this evening. He made some gorgeous and yummy fresh salsa. I swear I can just sit and eat it with a spoon. Not joking. *g*
As for reading? I finally finished the Gilman book. Now I've started reading Royal Street by Suzanne Johnson. So far I like it. The lead character isn't quite formed yet from where I still am, but so far she's shown to be intelligent, loyal and headstrong. She's just been left with a huge puzzle and is confused on how to react. I can't wait to see which way she decides.

No more form me. Time to get some much needed sleep. I have to be up way earlier than I'd like and I stayed up too late ironing and writing this. *g* I hope y'all had a lovely Wednesday. I wish a delightful and pleasantly unexpected Thursday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: swimming laps.
Exercise Hours: 1hr. 15min..

Bedtime Talker!

All the pictures I take aren't of the younger cats or Layla. Here's Oreo in her nightly position. On my bedside table ready to say goodnight as I go about my night time routine. She's put on some weight lately, all that yummy kitten food she sneaks and looks more like a penguin than ever. She's still talkative and yet very quiet. Kind of a contradiction, like her black and white fur.

I am so tired I don't know how to impress on you just how tired. But, I don't mean sleepy tired. I mean bone-deep weary. I also ache, but that I've earned from working out and yard work and such. The tired part, though? Feels like it did before. When I sit down I just want to cry at the thought of getting up to do anything. It's been creeping up on me, but this past week has been an un-ending blur of tiredness and I need to find a solution. I may have to see the Doc, I don't know. I DO know I'm going to have to see her soon, anyway. We received a letter that she's closing her practice at the end of June and moving out of state for family reasons. She's given us references to new practices, but my prescriptions are up within the next month and a half and I'd just as soon see if she can extend them for a bit than see a new Doc within the next month.
We've also been looking at curriculum for the next year and picking out courses for Daughter. She's not eager for Chemistry next year(and to be honest, neither are Chris and I)(plus she has another year for that) and so has chosen Computer Science instead. She has her dad's head for computers, so this works out okay. For now. I've urged her to also take Government since she'll be old enough to vote and I'd like her to have a better than cursory view of how things process.
Today she worked this afternoon and Son and I ran into a thunderstorm on the way home from dropping her off. It put my plans off a bit, but after an hour and a half I was finally able to get outside and vacuum out the jeep. The kids (and this is my fault, I know) tend to grab snacks on the go and then get crumbs everywhere. Ugh. I told Daughter she was the worst offender as I could tell from where she sits.
Before we knew it, it was time to head back, though we left a little early so we could swim before the kids MA class. I did laps and Son had a blast in the fun pool. Afterwards I headed upstairs for zumba and Daughter and Son headed to MA.
Dinner was a simple thing tonight. Chris nor I wanted to cook so yummy sandwiches were a good compromise. I just wish Chris didn't feel he has to have chips every time we eat sandwiches.
As for reading? I am STILL reading the Gilman book. I'm a little closer to finishing, though. A good thing. It's just hard finding time to read sometimes when I'm taking care of things around here, taking care of the kids and all that. Uninterrupted time would be nice. I say that and then wouldn't know what to do with it if I had it, right? Please tell me I'm not alone in that?

Anyway, time to head offline. I hope y'all had a wonderful Tuesday. I wish a hopeful and sunny Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Cute and Funny!

This kitten is so sweet that he purrs when you say his name or look at him or pick him up. But, like most gingers he's sweet, but..... not the sharpest tack. I laugh every time I see this picture, which I took one morning as I was waking up. (One of the benefits of my phone sitting on my bedside table.) He was sound asleep and stayed that way for another five minutes. *g*

Well, if you read my earlier post you were able to surmise that I had written a rather, um, rant-y post about MIL and then thought better of it and deleted it. That is what happened. I wrote the post, but woke around six this morning and decided that I just couldn't leave it up, I couldn't be that scathing toward her in print no matter how she's behaved. I will say that we visited the Out-laws this afternoon and that FIL is looking rather worse-for-wear. He's in pain and taking pain meds and his progress has been halted and even reversed to some degree. He thinks he may have torn muscles from the events of last week, but won't know until later this week. I'm crossing my fingers for him.
After the visit we headed home and Chris is slowly finishing the new floors in the LR. He's been swamped at work lately and so hasn't been able to get to it unless it's a weekend. And I'll be honest. Sometimes it's hard to motivate him. However, he's at the entry-way, which is angled, so will need to borrow a different type of saw than what we have. (From FIL, actually.) I can see the light at the end of this very long and jumbled tunnel of floors/flooring.
While he was doing all that I removed some things from a bookshelf, with Son's help,  so it could be moved and then headed outside to mow the lawn and take care of the yard work. I don't know of another day this week I could tackle it. I spent over two hours outside and can say I enjoye most of it. Yes, I know. I'm weird that way. However, I did NOT enjoy the six mosquito bites I came inside with, and that's after using a bug spray on my arms and chest and back and neck. However, I can't put anything on my face and since I have to wear pants to mow the lawn in thanks to the stupid new grass allergy I developed I didn't think to put any on the pants. They bit me through my clothes. And one on face above my eyebrow. They all swelled up to about the size of a half dollar. Each. I'm not exaggerating. I can say with all honesty that I HATE mosquitoes.
As for reading? I am still reading the Giman book. I only seem to have time to read a few pages at a time right now. I'm hoping that since our week officially starts tomorrow I'll be able to find some time to read soon.

And that's it. Sorry. We're pretty boring. I hope y'all had a fabulous Monday. I hope you remembered why we commemorate Memorial Day. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: yard work.
Exercise Hours: 2hrs., 15min..

Thinking Better Of It

Just wanted to let y'all know there actually was a post here this morning. But, it was un complimentary to my Out-laws regarding a situation MIL pulled and I ranted a bit. However, early this morning I thought better of it and deleted it. I hope everyone had ao ely and Blessed Sunday. I wish a pleasant Monday Memorial Day for each of you. Blessings, B.

Let's Play Where's Harley?

Can you spot the kitty? Harley is trouble on four tiny paws. She's gorgeous, but so darn curious! And FAST! Here she is investigating a box that's sitting in my library box (holds all library material when we're done with it so it can be in one spot an therefore easier to return) the box is on it's way out to the recycle bin in the garage. However, someone, not naming names here *coughCHRIScough* set it in my library box. Harley, being the curious girl she is, couldn't resist. Silly girl!

Another full day here. We ran errands this afternoon and I can tell you that my two fellas are now sporting matching buzz cuts. We looked at bathing suits for Daughter's as well. She wasn't pleased with the seaming on the sporty looking tankini she looked at (It rubbed her skin and bugged her), so is thinking of ordering the top that looks more like a sports bra instead. I'm...... kind of okay with that. At least it won't be revealing. She's not that type of girl and is usually very conservative, but it gets very hot on the pool deck and they HAVE to wear their uniform shirts over their bathing suits. Considering it was over 90 degrees here today? I can understand her point of view.
After that it was by Target for a few things and then another grocery store for our produce. (WW's produce is not good. To put it mildly.) There were a couple of earlier stops, too, but nothing much to mention.
I can say Son cracked us up in the grocery store. We were looking at bacon bits, Chris likes them on his salad and at the mention of bacon Son did something that cracked us up. (The child would live off of bacon if we let him, but I haven't bought him any in a couple of months.) Have y'all heard that beggin' strips dog treat commercial? Son can repeat it word for word, even with the same inflection. And to hear him do such after razzing him about how much he loves bacon? Totally hilarious. Also goes to show me he's a chip of the old block, so to speak. I used to go through the grocery store with my mom and would sing the commercial jingles to some of the products to her. Heck, I still remember the old band-aid commercial, the Oscar Meyer commercial and the Alka Setzer commercial. (Music has always had a big influence on my life. *g*)
Anyway, as for what I'm reading? I started reading the Gilman book. I'm not more than five chapters in right now, but so far I like it. The character will take some getting used to. She's already annoyed me and made me roll my eyes once, but I'm hopeful that was a fluke.

Well, it's time to head offline. I hope y'all had a relaxing and amusing Saturday. I wish a peaceful and lovely Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Too many errands, not enough time to work out.
Fitness Hours: 0. Thank goodness I have Zumba tomorrow! *g*

Look! It's a Bird... It's a plane.... It's flying kitty!

Elvis can fly! Well, that's what it looks like in the picture, anyway. Silly boy. They went nutty over that feather wand and seemed to lose all common sense.

It's been such a long day that I am exhausted. I'll try and give a condensed event list of the day.
-took Daughter to work, went to Sam's, went home, did laundry, mopped floors, washed litter boxes
-picked Daughter up from work, went to main library, picked up a new-to-me author and series and then headed home.
-Daughter and I went grocery shopping, went home, put everything away, made bed (part of laundry was sheets).
Add in 90 degree (without counting in heat index) weather and we've been running around and sweating doing it all day.
The book I picked up at the library was: Hard Magic by Laura Anne Gilman. This is the first book in at least a three book series. It's an Urban Fantasy, not usually one of my favorite genres, but the premise of a Paranormal CSI type grabbed my attention.
Anyway, I'm headed to sleep. I hope y'all had a lovely day. I wish an amusing and laughter-filled Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: 0. No time today.
Fitness Hours: 0. NO time today. *sigh*

Let's Do it Again!

I know I've posted a similar picture before, but those were taken with the my cell phone while this picture was taken with my actual camera. I love how Einstein sat patiently and let me put these pipe-cleaners on him. He's so silly, but very sweet. His nickname is Orea Redux, or Oreo the Sequel as they are both tuxedos and both crazy as heck. What's even funnier? There's no shame in his eyes at all. He FINE. Weird. *g* I'm betting he's the kind of cat that would have let Daughter dress him up in doll clothes...

Good golly. What a day. Daughter worked this morning and then after we picked her up we headed home for lunch and then had to turn back around and head BACK to the Y for the ceremony for one of the MA students who was receiving his black belt. (With a quick requested stop at the library- it was sign up day for the Summer Reading Programs.) This student? The AD. There was a tea ceremony and the presentation of the belt, certificate and patches. There was also a hand painted slate sign that the kids teacher made for him. All in all it was nice.
While the kids attended the rest of the class I headed upstairs and worked out on the bike. When the kids were done we all went swimming. While they changed after swimming for Daughter's class I sank into the jacuzzi and sat for a few minutes. While I like it, I can't take the heat more than ten minutes. But, it has been helping with my back. Afterwards I grabbed a shower and then met up with the kids after their class and helped put away the mats. We then headed home and had a late dinner. I know it doesn't sound like much, but add in a couple loads of laundry, a Son who woke with a sinus headache and was kind of cranky and today has been one thing after another and I am worn out.
The good news from my day? I got to bike and swim laps. The kids were well-behaved. I painted my toe-nails last night and the light was catching off the polish (called "Strobe Light") whenever I happened to glance down while at the pool area and it made me grin. Oh, and I didn't have to cook dinner. AND I read an entire book today. I started and finished Dark Descendent by Jenna Black. This is the first book in a relatively new series (book two just released not long ago) and a new-to-me author. It also contained one of my favorite premises- descendants of the mythological gods. Normally I don't read Urban Fantasy. I find them very dark and almost oppressive, but this book caught my attention and wouldn't let go, so I'll add the author to a select few of UF authors I read. (Rob Thurman's Trickster series is my favorite.)

And that's all from my day, other than I am fighting to hold my eyes open. So. This is it for me. I hope y'all had a delightful Thursday. I wish a fun and enjoyable Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: 8.16 miles bike, lost count of laps.
Fitness Hours: 1hr. 30min..

Kitties are Kung Fu Fighting!

(I'm betting I just gave y'all another ear worm. *g*) If you're on Facebook you've probably seen this picture tonight, I just posted it there. I couldn't help it. How cute is Buddy with his, according to Daughter, jumping side thrust kick! It's fun to watch the kittens lose their minds over the feather wand. I had kind of forgotten we had one (feather wand) because we'd put it up when Wicket kept trying to cart it off and chew all the feathers off a few months ago. I'm glad we dug it back out and am enjoying the hilarity that ensues with each acrobatic jump and twist. Funny kitties!

While today wasn't busy, it was boring. Sorry. I am kind of grateful that is was boring because tomorrow (Thursday) is going to kick my fanny. Daughter worked in the morning and after picking her up this afternoon we headed home for lunch and schoolwork. The kids worked hard and before we knew it, it was time for me to go to Zumba. I woke hurting today, my back a little and my hand and lower arm- alot. So, thought hard before going. However, when I don't exercise I can be kind of cranky and really wanted to try so went. I had a good time and was very careful not to over-do it. I can't wait to try out the water-zumba class soon. I'm not quite sure how it's going to work, but am looking forward to finding out! (Though I am still puzzled every time I read about a water-yoga class at the Y. Downward Dog pose would kind of be impossible. *g*)

However, while I enjoyed class tonight. It made me think. I don't have in-real-life friends. I have y'all. Whom I love and would be lost without, but I don't have close friends. I have people I'm friendly with, but not people I can really talk to. I have Chris, but he's a guy and sometimes the issue! It's kind of sad that my absolute closest friend- is Layla. At least she listens and doesn't judge me and makes me feel loved and appreciated. Please don't think I take y'all for granted. It's just I'm not sure y'all would like me in real life. I'm usually very quiet and introspective and I study people and yet I can be smile-y and happy and bubbly when I'm in my classes. I tend to smile a lot, too. I'm pretty sure that annoys a lot of people. I'm usually a happy person, but have a habit of saying things at the wrong time. I'm trying to be better about that, though. I would hate to accidentally offend someone like (think) I did last week when I said I wished we were having another yoga teacher to a person in my class. Not knowing the sub was behind the corner. *sigh* I was miserable for days thinking I may have hurt her feelings. BUT, I also have a feeling that my back would have been okay if we'd had our regular teacher last week. (She was out of town.) Just saying. Yeah, I know. I'm a mess. I hope I'm not alone in that!

As for reading? I'm just about finished with the Chloe book. There, hopefully, will be a resolution to the conflict introduced and a "closure" for all characters. While I have enjoyed the book so far, I'm not sure the 'message' of the book has come across correctly.

Anyway, I think I've embarrassed myself enough tonight. I hope y'all had a fabulous Wednesday. I wish a beautiful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: ZumbaFit
Exercise Hours: 50min. (shorter class on Wednesdays)

An oldie and silly!

This is one of my favorite older pictures of Oreo. I have no idea why she decided to sit in the trash basket, but I know a good photo op when I see one! She's still as silly, but has added paranoid to the mix of sweet and crazy. She still follows me around meowing and tends to stare at me a lot. It's a tad disconcerting sometimes, but I don't notice it much anymore.

My wrist and hand are hurting badly tonight, probably owing to scrubbing the downstairs bath floor (tile floor, pretty, but a pain in the fanny to keep clean) on my hands and knees. I also scrubbed the molding in there and the wall. That's the bathroom that holds a litter box and some of the cats food dishes. Normally I mop, but twice a year I like to scrub it like a madwoman. But, gripping that brush has left my hand sore. Bleh. The floor is definitely brighter and the grout (I hate grout. And y'all know I don't use that word often.) looks much better. It's sad. I was so happy with it when I was done I called Chris from the Y when he arrived home and told him to go look. Yup, that's me. Goofball!
After Daughter was off work this afternoon, and before the kids MA class, we went swimming. The kids goofed around in the pool with the slide and I swam laps in the lap pool. For some reason my back usually feels better on days after the pool, or maybe it's the jacuzzi after the laps. *g* Plus, it was a break in my normal routine. Sometimes that's a good thing. While the kids were in their class I finished up my laps and the jacuzzi and changed and found that FIL had called (missed call on my cell). I called back and to my delight learned that FIL is HOME! WOOO! I am so glad to hear he was able to go home today. However, he's back to using the walker again (he had just started using a cane and even then was able to not use that around the house) and he has to sleep in his recliner for the next few nights. Not sure why on the last one, but whatever needs to be done for him to heal- we're all for it!
As for the rest of the night? I watched the finale for DWTS. I wasn't that surprised at the winner and was VERY happy with the person that took third, for them to take third. Did any of y'all watch?
As for reading? I'm still reading the Chloe book, though I haven't had time to read any today. Days like this happen a lot, even with me cutting down on online time.

Anyway, time to head offline. And time for some ibuprofen. I hope y'all had an excellent day. I wish a Wednesday full of joy for y'all. Goodnight and God Bless, B.

Exercise: laps, walking.
Fitness Hours: 1hr. 20min.

Innocent Sleep!

I'm pretty sure I've posted this picture before, whether it was on Facebook or here I'm not sure. However, I thought it was too adorable not to post again. I wish I could sleep as deeply as this, too. It must be nice to just drop where ever you are and let the world slip away as you sleep.

I didn't get much sleep last night. And this morning didn't allow for much rest, either. I had to fuss and, well, to my great discomfit, I had to interrupt and almost yell several times over the phone to the kids Doctors office. Son will be attending a week long day camp at the Y this Summer and needed his shot records for the paperwork. Whoever called me this morning tried to tell me that Son was missing an inoculation that he'd received as a baby. Um, no. I have our original little yellow shot records from the military and I had to fuss, because she would not listen to me at all. She kept trying to tell me DHEC had no record of the shot. *sigh* I had to actually be rude and talk over her and even interrupt her several times. She asked that I bring the records when I came in this afternoon to pick up the new immunization record. (Turns out, whoever had written down the dates when I'd given them the record before- wrote the dates down wrong. NOT MY FAULT at all. And as I knew, I was right.) MIL called after that to chat for a few minutes. FIL has been given the clearance to drive a little bit and they were out taking care of errands. By then it was time to pick up Daughter and we bought some fuel, went by the post office, to the Doctors office where the discrepancies in the records were caught and corrected and then home. I then tackled the yard work, something that had been put on hold last week because of my back. I also trimmed three of our trees. Of the three the weeping willow managed to injure me. I was picking up the branches and leaves I'd trimmed and the branch that has been bugging me for months (I've had to duck under it to mow the lawn) managed to cause me to smack right into it. I had a small bump and it stings. Ouch!
When we were heading home after our errands, but before yard work, Chris had called. FIL was getting into their car to drive home from a grocery store and somehow became tangled with the wheel (he's a tall man so I can kind of see this) and popped his hip out of joint. The same hip he'd had the surgery on to be replaced not too long ago. They had to call an ambulance to take him to the ER and he had to be knocked out to have it put back in place. They were going to just let him go home afterwards, but he was in too much pain so they're keeping him overnight. I hope this doesn't backtrack all the progress he's made on his recovery. But, we won't know until tomorrow or later. Cross your fingers for him and please keep him in your thoughts.

As for the rest of the night? It was spent quietly. After the busyness of the day it was needed. I was telling Chris tonight that there are just days where I need to be two people to get everything done. I wasn't able to get half as much done at home as I would have liked today. But, I did mow the lawn, edge, trim the bushes, rake (mulch never stays in the correct spot) and clean up everything afterwards. I also managed to get three loads of laundry done. I just feel like I failed somehow, because I still had things in a list in my head that I wanted to accomplish and didn't. Because of all the yard work I didn't even get to go to Yoga. (Well, there was the yard work, wanting to be available if I was needed at the hospital and fear of over-doing it with my back and shoulder.)

Anyway, as for reading? I finished the female coroner book. On one hand I liked it, on the other the main character wasn't what I had hoped for. She was true to her era, but just didn't seem to grab my attention and keep it. It seemed lackluster. TO ME. In my personal opinion. Now I'm reading Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell. This is a YA and a new-to-me author and while the premise isn't exactly original, the voice of the main character is strong and likeable. However, I am only a third of the way through the book so far.

And that's it. No more from me tonight. I'm hoping to read for a few minutes and then get some sleep. A good night's sleep, please. I hope y'all had a pleasing Monday. I wish a terrific Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Yard work, but no traditional form of exercise.
Fitness Hours: 2hrs. 30min..

The new look of the court jester!

So, yeah, the other night I had way too much fun playing with Einstein and the pipe cleaners. And the sad thing was? He sat there and let me do it. He's just too sweet and probably slightly insane. We sometimes wonder if the kitties are weird because they come to us this way, or do we make them weird. I told Chris the other day I was starting to lean toward the thought we make them weird. *g*

Saturday was busy, so much so I hardly touched my computer all day and barely got on for a few minutes last night. Even today, Sunday, I was barely online. I'm trying to be better about not getting online on the weekends as much. I want to spend as much time with my family as I can. Though, sometimes the kids are doing their own thing inside the house. *g* Plus, I think the computer is sucking up my reading time. As a matter of fact, I can prove it. I read a book yesterday. I read Mishaps by Nanse Kunze. It was a YA by a new-to-me author. There was an interesting premise concerning how luck can be tracked in our DNA and how one girls luck was mis-firing and she was having more bad luck than she could ever deserve because she had been cloned un-knowingly. While the premise was definitely different, it was made believable and the story had a satisfying conclusion. As for what I'm reading now? The Anatomy of Death by Felicity Young is also different. It's about a young woman who is a Doctor in the same time period of the suffragette movement. While she is not, per se, a suffragette, she is investigating the murder of another woman killed at a suffragette gathering, possibly by a police officer. She is one of a few female doctors in her time and definitely stands out as a female coroner. I'm about halfway through the book already. Oh, as for the two books I picked up at the library Friday? The Cop with the Pink Pistol by Gray Basnight, a new-to-me author and Silver Sparks by Starr Ambrose, I can't remember if I've read anything by this author or not. I'm leaning toward not. However, the premise of this one has romance and suspense and it sounded good. Cross your fingers.
As for today? I was smart and didn't go to Zumba. I didn't want to test my back like that. Instead Chris and Son and I went swimming. Daughter worked, she was supposed to have the day off, but someone asked her to pick up their hours. I liked that the pool took pressure off my back and the jacuzzi afterwards was niiiiiiice. It helped a lot. Afterwards, when we all headed home (including Daughter), I took Daughter on another driving lesson. There wasn't any hysterical laughing this time, but there wasn't any yelling or screaming in fear (on my part), Daughter can clench her jaw really hard when angry at herself, though. Her big hiccup tonight was backing into a parking spot. She had so much trouble with that. She and the steering wheel are not friends right now. *g* However, she's getting there. It's just going to take a lot of practice and unfortunately she had my "It has to be perfect" gene. Not always a good thing.

Anyway, that's it. Tomorrow promises to be a long day. I hope y'all had a lovely weekend. I wish a happy Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: swimming laps
Fitness Hours: 45 minutes.

P.S. My review of my surprising opportunity is below!

My Opportunity!

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Joanna from Fresh Produce a clothing line designed for warmer climates. To be honest, I was surprised. But, I thought about it for a few days. And (after looking the company up to make sure they were real) decided that, why the heck not! My opinion should count somewhere, right? So, I contacted her back and agreed to try a piece of clothing. I chose a cute shirt, called the Catalina Top, only unlike the picture below, I chose the color eggplant. The name does not do it justice. The shirt is a gorgeous purple not unlike a blooming Iris.

And while I wish I were as skinny as the model pictured above, I am not. *g* But, I've been telling y'all of my weight struggles for years,  so this is not news. I chose the XL and the fit is loose, which I like. The back of the shirt is lower, low enough to cover your fanny, while the front isn't as low. The sleeves have this cute cut-out at the shoulder, but the sleeve itself covers that problem area for women. (You know, that area commonly referred to as the "wing".) It's very cute and I've noticed while out and about that this is in style right now.
As for how it's made? Y'all know I am picky when it comes to clothes (and tennies). I studied the stitching and darts, both are done very well. The material is 100% cotton, nice in a hot and humid Summer climate like where I live. As a matter of fact, I wore the shirt to the grocery store, to clean my porch, to the library and to the mall. I was comfortable and for the first time in a while I felt almost pretty. I wasn't wearing my normal mom uniform of tank top/t-shirt and shorts. So, my opinion? I like the shirt and will definitely be keeping Fresh Produce in my links for when I am ready to purchase something new. (I have my eye on a cute Summer dress and have put it on Chris' list he keeps in his wallet of gift ideas.)
I had Son take my picture wearing the shirt because I wanted to prove that the above review was true and honest. And also being who I am, I had issues looking at the camera. *g*

And all that said, I wish a beautiful Monday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

While I did receive a complimentary shirt for review, the opinions expressed in this post are my own.

Playing Hookey!

Hi! I'm playing hooky tonight because time has run away from me all day. However, I should be back tomorrow (Sunday.) with How I was given the chance to try out something. Me! You know, the shy, timid me. Anyway, I hope y'all had a glorious day. I wish a Peaceful Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Hugging Brothers!

I don't think I've posted this picture before, but am sure I've posted a picture similar to this. That can't be helped. These two love each other very much. (Oh, and there's a third kitten in the pile if you can find her. *g* Zoe napped with her brothers- she's the one off to the left and facing the other way.) What's funny is that they all sleep cuddled up together and then when awake they fight and play like crazy. As someone who has never had siblings, but having watched my kids over the years the scenes are rather familiar.

It is very late and I am very tired so this post is going to be, say it with me now, very short. Sorry, I'm in a goofy mood. Anyway, today was kind of nice. While my back is still hurting and limiting some of my movements I still manage to get some things done around here. Just not as much as I'd like. After dropping Daughter at work this afternoon Son and I visited the main branch of our county library. It's a huge three story building and I had fun looking at all the new books and the YA books when Son wanted to look at the manga (kept in the teen section). They have the coolest wall in the teen section. It's painted purple with magnetic paint. And they have those magnetic words where you are encouraged to put them together and make a poem. Son and I had fun with them. I checked out a couple of books, but don't have them right by my bedside to tell y'all what they are and am too darn tired to get up and get them. However, I do know one is the new Starr Ambrose book and the other is one about a detective with a pink gun. *g* I'll post the titles tomorrow.
After our trip by the library we headed home and I discovered that while we were gone one of the local utilities had come through and marked up my yard and my neighbors yard. They even put paint on the roots of two of my trees, though both trees are at least two feet inside our property line and this is cable and cable internet that came and did all this. I didn't know that at the time though. I thought maybe the neighbor had gotten someone to come out and do an estimate to put in a fence. Thank goodness because the lines painted in the grass looked like someone was drunk when they painted them. As long as my yard and trees aren't effected I'll be okay.
Son and I then had a late lunch and did some schoolwork and before we knew it, it was time to meet up with Daughter. We all went swimming and both Daughter and I swam laps and then enjoyed the jacuzzi (thought at different times). Did I tell y'all the new Y has a state of the art UV filter system? That plus the small amount of chlorine and I don't have to worry about the jacuzzi too much.

And after heading home we had dinner and watched a few episodes of some show called Victorious. I like the show because it doesn't have violence, or other things that aren't appropriate for kids.

And that's that. Time to head offline. I hope y'all had a spectacular Friday. I wish an amusing and enjoyable Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: swimming laps
Fitness Hours: 40min..

Little Lady!

Did I ever tell y'all why we named Harley her name? If you look closely you'll see that Harley has orange and black in her fur and those are traditional Harley Motorcycle colors. Plus, for some reason, at the time I had forgotten the true definition of a harlequin. Oops! However, this girl is very sweet and shy and yet is as rough and tumble as the boys.

Jeez! I tried to post earlier and had let Daughter borrow my computer and getting her off of it was NOT easy.
Today was Son's last 4-H meeting of this school year. The program theme was hats. Son was the only one that had more than one or two hats (and we had left some at home!), we brought six. Is it unusual for a boy child to like hats? He has to have at least 5 baseball hats, two fedora style hats and an old news boy hat (kind of like a golf hat). (I know there's an official name for this type of hat, but for the life of me can't remember.) The cupcakes were loved by almost everyone.  Yet, there were still some to bring home. Chris was ecstatic since I wouldn't let him try one last night- I was worried I wouldn't have enough.
After the program we headed home for a while. And then to the Y for Daughter to teach her class. Speaking of which! The homeschool group coordinator asked if the kids would do a demo next year. Both were thrilled to be asked and said yes. While at the Y I worked out. I know I shouldn't have, but I almost went stir crazy yesterday trying not to do much. And I worked out on the stationary bike, that way the muscle in my back doesn't hurt more than it already does.

Then home. Where I noticed the library made an error of the book I put on hold. They though I'd already checked it out. Nope. So, I had to re-inter the entire thing.

I'm going to have to cut this short. I am exhausted and it's been a long day. I hope y'all had a terrific day. I wish a fun and enjoyable Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Let's Get Physical!

This is what happens when you have too much time on your hands late at night and have pipe-cleaners and a nearby cat. Einstein didn't seem to mind. *g* Somehow the Olivia Newton song "Let's Get Physical" just popped into my head. Oh, you're welcome to the ear worm. *g*

Well, my back is still killing me. So, no work-out today. Which, pardon my language, sucks. Driving is uncomfortable, too. I'm hoping a few more days and things will be better. In the meantime I made cupcakes this afternoon for Son's last 4-H group meeting until the Fall. I can't have any of the commercial cake mixes because they contain soy, which led me to think that if I can't have any of that nonsense, why should I feed that to my kids, anyway. So, I made the cupcakes from scratch. *g* They came out quite well, too. (According to my kids!) Then I tried my hand at frosting. I'm not great at frosting. Never have been. Part of it is that I've been cooking low-fat for years and low-fat and frosting don't go very well together. However, tonight the kids gave the thumbs up to cream cheese frosting. (Or icing. I want to keep calling it icing.) What do y'all call it? Is there a difference between the two?

So yeah, that taking it easy thing? Didn't go over well today. I swept the floors and porch, did laundry, and baked all day. Oh, and after dinner? I am baking some more. Son has been insisting on chocolate chip cookies for a few days now. But, we had to pick up the chocolate chips first! I got him, though. I picked up chocolate chunks instead. *g* So, I am no backing cookies, too. I must really love my kids. Well, duh!

As for reading? You'd think taking a day off, so-to-speak, (HA!) would mean I had more time to read. No. And it's driving me crazy. I really want to read this book! I'm only a third of the way through and WANT TO READ MORE. I know I will. I just need to find the time.

Which is what I'm hoping to do right now. I'm headed off-line and grabbing my book. I hope y'all had a comfortable day. I wish a fabulous Thursday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: When I can barely get up or down? Yikes.
Fitness Hours: *sigh* 0. <----- NOT HAPPY.

Teddy in a Box!

Well, technically he's not in a box. Teddy's in Chris' cooler. The kids thought this was hilarious and hummed the "All Around the Mulberry Bush" song as he sat in there. Suffice to say Teddy is not...... as smart as he is cute. That's okay, we love the big lug, anyway.

Well, my new kettlebell workout was going well. Until I woke up this morning. *g* Instead of being so sore I couldn't bend my legs my shoulder now hurts. I figure by the next time I do the workout maybe everything will have stopped? *g*
This afternoon we were a little late for my Zumba class because we stopped by the library and I kind of forgot for some reason that my class started fifteen minutes before the kids MA class. Oops. A little brain-snafu there. I don't mean to have ditzy moments, but good grief. Some days just seem to move in fast forward while I'm in slow motion, you know?
Anyway, I ended up being fifteen minutes late for my class, but where I used to not enter anything late (I am usually the early person, I can't stand being late and feel like I'm on display when I show up to things that way.) I went ahead inside because I really wanted my workout and needed my Zumba fix. No one really paid me any attention so that was good. (I prefer to be un-noticed.) Unfortunately, for some reason during a certain song I pinched a nerve or pulled something in my back. I kept on with the class, but lost a bit of ease of movement. Ouch. I'm guessing today was just not meant to be a good day. *sigh* To keep it from freezing up on me totally after class I used a bike for a bit to keep the muscles warm. It was okay, but not great. Walking down the stairs afterwards was not easy. I refused to use the elevator though. That seemed like admitting defeat. What can I say? I'm stubborn. Sometimes to my detriment.
We headed home after the kids changed from their class and by the time I arrived home I could barely walk. Yay. I don't want to be one of those "why me?" people, but this was a class I usually have no issue with. Anyway, Chris took care of dinner for me, which was nice. He can be understanding at times. *g* So, the evening was salvaged and went on. And I was in so much pain at bedtime that I ended up taking a pain pill (actually, just really strong tylenol) whereas I usually hate things like that. (Heck, I refused the prescription the last time I ended up in the ER.) (It's not just the back pain, add in the shoulder pain and between the two of them I hurt. Hopefully, please, tomorrow will be much better. Cross your fingers! (And good grief I'm....... verbose tonight. Sorry!)
In some GOOD NEWS. I am now reading Brownies and Broomsticks by Bailey Cates. This is a new-to-me author and I wanted to read this book so badly based upon the premise that I bought it. Y'all know I don't have a huge book budget, but I couldn't resist this book. It's right up my alley with a bakery and a bit of magic. It sounded so fun and so far I really like it. I'm not that deep into the book yet, but the writing is good and I'm hopeful!

And that's that. Time to get some rest. I hope y'all had a marvelous Tuesday. I wish a delightful and fresh Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Zumba, Bike.
Fitness Hours. 1hr. total. (45min. Zumba, 15min. bike.)

P.S. I just read through the post and noticed I forgot to mention the books I picked up from hold from the library. I'll do that tomorrow, sorry! But, to simplify, I now have The Bloggess's new book and Martha Stewarts new book.)

Sleeping and snuggling.

This little orange boy won't take no for an answer from Layla. She was minding her own business napping in a sunny spot in the kitty bed and in he came all cute and snuggly. Well, she had no choice. She went back to sleep. *g*

Monday's are a good start to the week. Personally, I like Mondays. Don't get me wrong, weekends are nice, but good grief! We always do so much. Today is the one (usually) slow day of the week for me.
Daughter worked this morning and when we picked her up this afternoon we headed home for lunch and schoolwork. I took care of a few things around the house and have to admit I am really liking the new soap we bought. The peppermint smells fresh and yet it doesn't stay, however it does leave a nice soapy clean scent behind. And I had no idea it could be used for so many things! According to some reading I've done I can use it for: hand soap, dishwashing soap, laundry detergent, floor cleaner, degreaser and body soap. And those are just the few I've found so far. I'm going to see if car cleaner is one of those someday soon. *g*
Son had his last Tween event for the school year this afternoon. He came home loaded down with treats, one of which was a Diary of a Wimpy kid Do-It-Yourself Journal. He loves it. It's his second one. *g* While at the library I picked up a hold that had come in for me, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food From My Frontier by Ree Drummond. Oh gosh! There are so many yummy recipes in it! Daughter wants me to try to make the Coffee Cream Cake. I can say if you're on a low-fat diet this probably isn't the book for you, though many of the recipes can be modified for different styles of diets. I'm anxious to try the Chicken Tortilla Soup. I even talked Chris into it. *g*
As for reading? I haven't had time today, but hope to right before sleep. And on that note! It's time for me to head offline. I hope y'all had a nice Monday. I wish a happy and hopeful Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: Kettlebell, Yoga.

My Girl!

Daughter did very well and impressed an outside judge at the tournament yesterday. She also impressed another lifeguard who stopped by who has taken MA for over seven years. He was most impressed with the fact that the kata Daughter performed with the japanese fighting fans was fully her creation, not to mention she taught herself how to use them. Me? I'm so very proud of both my babies. They both received three awards each and placed quite well in the kata and weapons kata area. Son received an honorable mention for sparring (he ended up dizzy after a second kick to the head and never quite recovered in the elimination rounds) and Daughter also received an honorable mention for sparring (quite good since she sparred adults). They are comfortable with their accomplishments and that's all I ask from them. (That they do their best and are okay with the results no matter what.)

After the tournament yesterday we went out to a late lunch with another family in MA class. We had a good time and had fun chatting with another couple while the kids had a blast having lunch with their friends. Afterwards we headed to Hobby Lobby where Daughter picked up a sparkly bow to cover some paint on one of her favorite hats and I picked up the materials to make a cute pair of earrings for the Teen/Tween Librarian.
We then headed home where we all made up a menu and grocery list and Daughter and I left Son and Chris at home and we headed to WW and another grocery store. I have found that I prefer shopping with just Daughter. It gives us time together, not to mention she's a lot more help than Son or Chris. (Shhhhh! Don't tell them I said that.)
When we were done we headed home where the guys helped take the groceries in and we had a late dinner. We watched what I found out was the final episode (gotta love DVR) of the show that Chris and I really, really enjoyed- GCB. To be honest I had read the book, but found the show funnier and snarkier and overall a huge piece of fluff, but entertaining fluff. I don't know about y'all but I am so very tired of all the reality shows on tv. I miss regular shows. But, networks today don't give shows a chance unless the ratings are perfect.  I am SO looking forward to the cable shows due back in June like Rizzoli and Isles.
Ack! Anyway, I managed a couple for chapters in the doggie matchmaking book last night and today was spent running a couple of errands. It's been a low-key day other-wise, thank goodness. Time to head offline, though.
I hope a nice Mother's Day was had, whether you are a Mother or not. I wish a pleasant and delightful day for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: I took the day off intentionally. It felt weird.
Fitness Hours: I'm trying not to feel guilty about taking the day off.

The Cute! Can't Look Away!

Buddy, also known as Butterball Boy and Buddy Boy is as sweet as they come. He will purr the minute you touch him and when you stop he stops, you touch him- he purrs again. You stop, he stops. And on and on. It's very funny and very cute. But, the thing that grabs you most about Buddy are his HUGE eyes. You look at them and just go "awwwww".

The tournament went well and the kids placed well in today's tournament. However, as proud of them as I am and wanting to share with y'all- it's going to have to wait. We have been going and going all day. And it's late and I need to sleep as I can't even keep my eyes open. I'll tell all tomorrow.
I hope y'all had a lovely Saturday. I wish a restful and peaceful Sunday. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Ha! No. *sigh*
Fitness Hours: 0 <------ not fond of this number.

Tv Ready!

(I took this picture a couple of weeks ago before Chris started putting my flooring down, so please excuse the concrete subfloor.) Einstein loves the strap on my computer bag. I have no idea why, but he'll rub all over it an play with it. Silly kitty. Famous Kitty! Einstein was at the Vet's being neutered today when a news team was there doing a story on spaying/neutering your pets and any strays in your area and one of the Vet's employees had Einstein out of his kennel while they were filming. Einstein was shown on the news this evening! How cool is that? He looked just as handsome on tv as he does in real-life, btw. *g*

Not too busy a day today here. Chris was kind enough to drop Einstein off at the Vet's this morning for me, so very early, so that I wouldn't have to. I was grateful for two reasons. Einstein considers me his and I was worried he'd see me dropping me off as a betrayal and for the second reason? He had to be there really early and didn't sleep well last night.
After I dropped Daughter at work this afternoon Son and I headed to pick up Einstein and while there found out about his possible tv appearance. You KNOW I made sure to record the news, right? I even texted Chris at work to let him know, too. *g*
After all that I headed outside to mow the lawn and every thing that goes with that. I was not happy to find that my neighbor to the back of us had cut the grass a foot from the fence on her property line. Meaning she had part of OUR yard cut. I know that doesn't seem like a big deal, but she's the one who put a chain link fence up her backyard where it met ours (no idea why, btw since her dog is kept in a small pen 24/7.) and then it's only three INCHES inside her property line. She has a huge juniper-looking type tree that is so big at this point it's branches are over in our yard and I haven't said a word to her about it, though it's killing my grass. Did she trim that? No. I really can't say why this is bugging me as badly as it is. But, it is. I'll get over it, I guess. However, do not be surprised if her tree is mysteriously trimmed out of my yard.
After the yard work Son and I had to hurry to pick up Daughter. Of course we made it by the time she was supposed to get off. However, there are extra duties after the pool closes and it was another thirty-five minutes before she was out.
We then ran home and had a very late, light dinner and grabbed shower and Chris is now sewing the kids new martial arts patches on their Gi's for the tournament tomorrow. As for the tournament? We have no idea what to expect. I know it's going to be a big change from the last one, but I don't think it will be in a good way. We are only going to be allowed half the gym for our use and we have no idea how many are participating. I have a feeling it's going to be a big disappointing mess this time. NOT want I want for the kids. Ah, well. Time will tell.

In my reading world I am still reading the doggy matchmaking book. To be honest I haven't even had time to open it today. However, I have a few minutes before I MUST get some sleep. I'm hoping to read a few pages, at least.

No more from me. It's been a semi-slow day. I hope y'all had a productive and happy Friday. I wish an amusing, smile-filled and relaxing Saturday for y'all. Goodnight, B.

Exercise: Yard Work.

That Brotherly Bond!

Doesn't this picture seem posed? I promise you it's not. I just happened to catch the fellows as they were waking up from a nap and wanting to play. Funny enough the ginger, Buddy, was the runt of the litter. But, now? He has a round little tummy and almost waddles when he walks. Elvis is the excitable one. He has frenzied moments of running around and jumping and then wants to wrestle around with his brother and sisters. Kittens are so silly!

A semi-regular day here. This afternoon the kids attended the early MA class and afterwards we went swimming. Daughter and I took turns swimming laps and before we knew it the time for her to teach the later class had arrived. While Daughter was teaching and Son attending class, I worked out again on the bike.
One good thing about attending the early class? They were able to get in an extra practice before their tournament this weekend. I'm not sure about the attendance, but I can say that the kids that will be participating (from MA class) will be great. I watched them practice this afternoon and one fellow's bo kata is awesome.
As for reading? Because of the early class I was able to finish my Gibsen book. I really enjoyed it and was happy to see (on Goodreads) that there will be a second book. Yay! As for what book I"m reading now? The Lucky Dog Matchmaking Service by Beth Kendrick. The book is by a new-to-me author, but already I'm hooked. Of course, the fact that the book is about a dog matchmaker (she matches her rescues with new owners) who also rescues dogs is beside the point. Right? *g* This is another book I discovered while playing around with my library's database.

So..... I have a serious question tonight. What are things about yourself you see as your best qualities? I'm trying to stop being so judemental of myself and yet, I can't think of things I would "brag" about. (And yes, for those of you on Facebook I am kind of, sort of, borrowing this topic from a status. However, I am serious. I'm trying to be more positive for myself.) See, it's easy for me as a mother to be proud of my kids and share all their accomplishments. But, when it comes to myself I am more likely to think things like: I'm too plain. I'm boring. I'm a ditz. I have no talent. Ohh, and the one I tell myself all the time? I'm never going to figure out what I'm good at. That last one? That's the confidence destroyer. The one that makes me sigh and hide in something else, whether it be a book or the computer or working around the house. Please don't tell me I'm the only one who thinks this way sometimes? Don't get me wrong. I'm not depressed, just feeling practical? That's the wrong word, but you get the idea, right?
Anyway, time to head offline and get some much needed rest. I hope y'all had a good day. I wish a fun and fabulous Friday. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Exercise: laps, bike

The calm before the crazy!

Einstein is funny kitty. If you close a door he will meow at you until you open it up and he can enter. THEN he'll meow until you open the door and he can leave. (Makes taking a shower fun.) He stares at the sink when the water is running and gets this almost excited look on his face. Then again, that could just be his white eyebrows and round eyes. His face is filling out, as you can see in this picture, but he is till small and slender, especially compared to his brother. He is also intensely curious. Silly boy!

For a change I feel like I accomplished something today! Daughter worked this morning and then did schoolwork this afternoon with Son.  Daughter had a writing club meeting late this afternoon. Son and I picked her up and headed to the Y where I attended Zumba and PiYo. Chris picked them up on his way home while I attended the PiYo class.
All in all today I managed four loads of laundry, baked banana bread, took two classes by my favorite teachers and made dinner for the kids. To me this was a good day. *g* AND Chris is finally installing the floors we purchased two months ago. I don't even mind that he's putting them in a foot at a time. I'm finally getting floors! WOOOO!
Oh, the kids introduced Chris and I to a new tv show, Good Luck Charlie. It's a Disney show which ,to be honest, I usually avoid because most are silly and stupid -to me, to me! However, for some reason Chris and I find this one cute and charming. And it's a show we can all watch together and I not cringe when something inappropriate is said or done.
As for reading? I am still reading the Gibsen book. I like it a lot and it's funny how I actually recognize the mentions and descriptions of the weapons. And the moves, such as a crescent kick! I know what that is! *g* I guess all the years of watching the kids at their MA practices and tournaments comes in handy sometimes.
Oh, and random, but here goes. I am SO sore! I have been doing kettlebell on my own for over a month now, usually at least once a week and haven't been sore, but I did the DVD yesterday and today I am SORE. Maybe it was the combo of the DVD and then Zumba, but it hurt to walk up and down the stairs of the house today and to sit down and get up. *g* I usually don't use DVD's to exercise with, it was hard enough keeping the cats out of the way yesterday, but if it was this effective that's a good thing, right? And as for the squats in Zumba? I managed. Somehow. *g*

Not a terribly exciting day, but it was ours. I hope y'all had a day full of smiles and Sunshine. (We had rain all night, all day and then all night again.) I wish a productive and delightful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: Zumba, PiYo.
Fitness Hours: 2.

Hang you head over.....

Watch the wind blow! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) Teddy is finally free of the cone! However, I couldn't resist sharing this picture of Teddy right before we took the cone off. He was hanging off the ottoman trying to play with a kitten's tail. He was a good boy while wearing the cone and since he's no longer wearing it he's back to his old silly self.

Another day has gone and I'm up late again. Sleep is such a lovely thing, isn't it? It isn't until you haven't had enough that you crave it. *g*  But, the day goes on.
Daughter worked this afternoon and after Son and I dropped her off we headed home where he completed his schoolwork for the day. When he was done I tried out the DVD that came with my kettlebell. It was a half hour workout and it made me sweat. But, I enjoyed it. After that Son and I headed out to meet up with Daughter. First we had a few stops. Son needed to update his library card so he could place holds again and after that it was by the bank so I could pay for the kids tournament fees!
The computers were down at the new Y when we arrived, so I had to wait to register the kids. It was okay, though. I had a question that was answered later by the AD. We got a discount! *g* Only on Daughter's fee, since she's an employee. That was good news to me!
While standing there waiting for their class to begin a man began complaining to me! A stranger! About the Y and how they shouldn't use half the gym for the different classes it's used for as the gym is obviously too small and the new Y is too small (not that I DON'T agree with him, but I didn't know him at all!) and they should hold the classes somewhere else and on and on he went. Um, okay. But, why was he complaining to me? Because I was standing there with the kids while they were dressed in the Gi's? I mean, I understand the man's complaints, they are actually some things I've thought as well. But, I just can't believe he stood there talking to me about all that and I was too polite to tell him to stop. *sigh* Later when talking to the AD about it I wondered why he complained to me, out of all the people standing there at the time and he said that maybe the guy thought I worked there. Since I was there often enough. I'm hoping it was a compliment and not a slur that I am at the Y too much. *g*
Anyway, after the kids class was over I was finally able to register them and before we left Son asked me to explain Pool to him since the Y recently added a pool table to the family fun room. I explained the concepts behind it, though it's been over fifteen years since I've played and then walked him through a game. I'm sure Chris could have done a better job as I've never been into the physics behind the game, but more trying to hit whatever ball I needed into the pocket. *g* After that as I was trying to get the kids to leave I was suckered into a game of foosball. I will say upfront, pardon my language, that I suck at the game. I was so busy watching the ball I forgot to turn the handles more often than nought. But, the kids and I had a good time. And I eventually was able to convince them to head home.

As for reading? I am reading Katana by Cole Gibsen. It's a new-to-me author and also a YA. It involves martial arts and reincarnation and so far I'm enjoying it. It's amazing the books I can find while perusing the library database. *g* Sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes I find books I think I'll like that I end up not enjoying, but it's always fun to try. Do y'all do that? Search your library database and find new-to-you authors? Have you found many new favorites that way? Speaking of new-to-me authors, I picked up two more books yesterday (I was too tired to mention it last night.) I now have The Lucky Dog Matchmaking Service by Beth Kendrick and Anatomy of Murder by Imogen Robertson. They are both new-to-me authors. The first seems like it will be sweet and the second is set in the 1800's and involves a female coroner when female doctors were not only rare, but believed to be wrong.  Cross your fingers that both are good!

Yikes! Up too late, again. I hope y'all had a fantastic Tuesday. I wish a wonderful and smile-filled Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Something about that Ginger Fur!

Layla hasn't been the happiest about the kittens being in the house. However, she's also the Queen Kitty and it's weird how the kittens gravitate toward her. Buddy, especially, adores her, though the feeling is not quite as mutual. (As you can see by the look on her face here.) A little know secret is that Layla has a thing for ginger boys. A long time ago we had a ginger boy that helped raise Layla and she loved him so much, but he disappeared one day within a minute. (Making me think someone stole him, he was a maine coon.) So, Layla tends to let ginger boys get away with a lot more than any other kitty when it comes to sharing her space. Isn't it sweet?

I don't know what's in the air this week, but my allergies are giving me heck. I've had more sinus headaches in the past week that I had all last month. Bleh. I'm going to go ahead and apologize for this post. I had to take two benedryls and my brain is now mush.
Daughter worked this afternoon and while picking her up we ran into NG (neighbor girl). She had been out looking at colleges (she's a year and a half older than Daughter) (and will be graduating this year) and stopped by the new Y to look around and pick up a membership application. It was a weird surprise running into her there. Almost like our two worlds colliding. (Home world and away from home.)
This afternoon Daughter also had an event at the Library. The teen group made jewelry for their Mom's for Mother's Day. She not only made something for me, which she won't show me, but she also made herself a pair of earrings. She chose well, they are quite cute and suit her perfectly.
After all that there was no time for anything else but to take the kids with me to the Y. They enjoyed playing games in the lobby while I enjoyed my yoga class.
As you can tell today was rather boring. *g* I do have one piece of news. Remember I was searching for a new household cleaner to use? Well, we picked up a liquid castile soap scented with peppermint last week. I finally got around to using it on my floors today and it did a good job and the house smelled minty fresh. *g* When it dried the mint scent dissipated and left a clean smell. I think, so far, that this new soap is doing well for all my cleaning. Cross your fingers!
In OTHER news, we took the e-collar off Teddy tonight. He hasn't really tried to mess with his incision this time and we're keeping an eye on her to make sure he doesn't. I'm hoping this means we don't have to put the collar back on. I'm also glad to know, thanks Melissa, that I'm not the only one who calls the e-collar the "Cone of Shame". *g*
I have reading new, but am having a hard time keeping my eyes open and will have to share that later. I hope y'all had a delightful day. I wish an interesting and smile-filled Tuesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Adorable Pepper!

I can't help but smile when I look at Pepper. Her face is so sweet and innocent. Her wide, bright eyes and loving nature make her absolutely adorable. We still call her "the Baby", too.

I've had another wicked sinus headache all day and night long, so this is it for me. I am hoping to get some sleep and wake with NO headache. I'm sure the benedryl I'm taking right before bed should help with that.

I hope your Sunday was full of Peace and Blessings. I wish a pleasing and gentle Monday. Goodnight and Good Favor to each of you, B.

Spring Fling!

Well, we attended our local annual Spring Fling this afternoon. It was overcast, as can be seen in the photo, but very hot and humid. So much so that it was a tad uncomfortable, but we checked out everything. There were vendors and bands, a few live acts (such as a woman drummer painted silver like a 17th century statue) and a car show. There were also booths from local clubs and associations. However, it was EXACTLY the same as last year. The only difference were in the name of the bands. It was disappointing. This picture is of the clock tower in the town square. And someone please tell me with skies that overcast I ended up sunburned?

And with that you know most of our day! I can say we had a nice evening at home and made homemade pizza for dinner. It turned out well and the kids were happy. Good news since their favorite pizza place close to us just closed.

As for reading? I've managed a couple more chapters. As bored as I am with the book I still want to finish it. I think that's more of a hope that it improves than anything. I hate giving up on something. But, so far there's no spark or sizzle and that's not only with the plot, but within the two main characters.

All that said, it's time to head offline. You know the drill. *g* I hope y'all had a delightful Saturday. I wish a peaceful and relaxing Sunday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Harley Studies Hard!

Harley was fascinated by Chris' computer the other evening. It's not that there was much happening on it. No fish swimming around or mouse/pointers moving. But, she still thought there was something interesting in the progress bar for the program he was downloading. It just goes to show that kittens are easily entertained. Thank goodness!

What a day. We were up bright and early to drop Teddy at the Vet this morning for his appointment. I felt so guilty the night before knowing where I was taking him. However, that was nothing compared to the guilt of putting him in the carrier and driving him there and leaving him. I felt like the worst kitty-mama ever. I know they do good work there and they truly believe in their mission of spay/neuter. I know they are caring and would take good care of him, but I still felt guilty. I may make fun of how dumb he is, and trust me, I don't make this stuff up. I also pet him every day and make sure he has toys and love to laugh at his silly antics. I left worried and feeling guilty. But, I knew we were doing the right thing.
After that I bought the kids breakfast. A very bad for them breakfast. I guess I was on a roll with the bad mama gimmick. I took them to Krispy Kreme and let them pick out some doughnuts and then drinks. Son did the good thing and had juice. Daughter? She likes coffee and had her's iced. Blerggg! I let her get away with it because she was working this morning and I knew she needed the caffeine. After Son and I dropped her off we headed home and had a quiet morning. It's so weird on days like this that I actually kind of miss the snarky remarks and "shut ups" between the two of them. (Gotta love a big age difference in kids, yes? *g*)
I ended up with the WORST sinus headache I've had in months today and into tonight. It's been horrid. I skipped the gym because of it, and you know it had to be bad for me to do that! I did manage to pick up Daughter and Teddy and after home I was very bad and kind of laughed at Teddy when he was let out of the carrier and he tried to stand up and kept weaving. He would turn his head to look back and fall over. Poor baby. We kept him as quiet as we could, but he kept messing with his incision and so when Chris arrived home he and I set out and purchased an E-collar. Otherwise known as the "cone of shame". (The kids think that name is hilarious, by the way.) Getting that thing on and keeping it on was not easy. And we're afraid he's going to choke while wearing it because he kept banging his head into things on purpose to try and take it off,  so that's not good. He eventually fell asleep with it on standing up and we felt so bad we took it off for him to rest. I've just never had a cat that insistent to mess with their sutures as this cat.

As for reading? I am over half way finished with the Roberts book. The pace has been very slow and I'll admit to being a tad bored. The "will they, won't they, will they" storyline is getting old already. I am very interested in finding out the Ghost's story, though. I'm hopeful the book picks up steam soon. Cross your fingers.

And that's it. No more from me. It's, say it with me now, late. *g* I need to get some sleep. I hope y'all had an enjoyable Friday. I wish an amusing and restful Saturday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.

Exercise: none. I'm not happy about it, either.

Spooky!

What would you do if the first thing you noticed about this vehicle was the picture in the window? We were in the library the other day and when we came out there was this vehicle in the parking lot. If you can't tell, it's an old hearse and has that weird 3-D picture in the back. I did a double take and then when we were leaving we actually drove by it to take this picture because I couldn't NOT share it. Yes, I know. The weirdest things fascinate me.

Yet another day here. Not much to share, to be honest. We did run by the library today because I had two books come in, Katana by Cole Gibsen (new-to-me author, YA) and Terrier, A Beka Cooper book by Tamora Pierce (YA). And a CD, Sweeter by Gavin Degraw.
Daughter's class went well tonight. She had them practice their katas and whatever else they would be performing in the competition. Which is coming up way too soon. I'm worried that there hasn't been enough time and preparation given to the competition. The new Y opening seems to have been the focus, as it should have been, but we haven't been able to distribute flyers this time and put them up in several places like we did last time.
As for tomorrow? Teddy is getting neutered. He has to be at the Vet bright and early and so this is it from me. You should see it here. All the cats are freaking out because we took their food up and they're used to having food put out at bedtime. They don't know what to think, but it seemed to the best way since Teddy isn't supposed to eat tonight. I'm going to miss him tomorrow and be very worried until we bring him home tomorrow afternoon. Please cross your fingers that he'll be okay.

Anyway, I hope y'all had an entertaining day. I wish an enjoyable and smile-filled Friday for y'all. Goodnight and Sweet Dreams, B.

Brotherly Love!

These two are so funny together! And while I may have been worried that the kittens weren't putting on weight a little over a week ago, now they're little bellies are round. Guess steady food and water and feeling safe are good for them. Did I tell y'all I asked someone about a home for the kitties and he liked the ginger, Buddy? (I showed him pictures.) He said only if he were neutered and had his shots and then he'd be an outside cat. Um, no. Indoors only for these sweeties. Cats live longer and healthier lives indoors. (And there have been reports of two stray cats within a thirty mile radius with rabies. Not good.)

It was a rather slow day here. Daughter didn't have to work, but she did have a library event and went a little early to finish the edits for the commercial. It. Is. Done! Yay! Now it goes up for approval for the BIG library and librarians. Cross your fingers, these kids worked hard on this thing.
While Daughter was there Son was working on schoolwork while I sprayed for bugs outside (just around the outside of the house) and then trimmed a tree so it, you know, actually looked like a tree instead of a big bush. Now it looks like a tall bush, but more like a tree. *g* And I picked weeds. Lots of weeds. I don't want to have to spray again, so have tried to pick each one and while the dandelion weeds have slowed, there's some weird weed that looks like tiny bouquets of clover, but isn't (different root base).  Unfortunately, sometime during all this I ended up getting stung by something. It stings, duh, and is red, but at least I didn't have a worse reaction.
In good new for the day my favorite yoga teacher is doing two Wednesday classes this month and I was able to go tonight! I had a good time and as usual left the class afterwards feeling better than I did before class. (And since I had gotten too hot again and my knees felt weak earlier this afternoon, that's a good thing.)

As for reading? I chose to start the Nora Roberts book. Like that was a surprise! *g* I liked the secondary female character in the first book, the pizzeria owner, in the first book so can't wait to read her story. I haven't had a chance to read much today because of everything else going on, but hope to find time sometime tomorrow. (It's late as I write this and I need to be up EARLY, so need to get some sleep now.)

And that's it. Time for sleep. Ahhhh, precious sleep. I hope y'all had an agreeable Wednesday. I wish a delightful Thursday for y'all. Goodnight and Blessings, B.

Exercise: Yoga/Plilates. (She mixed it up tonight!) Gardening.

Harley!

This is Harley. I've shared a picture of her before, I think. She's a quiet girl and only meows for food. She is VERY curious about everything, likes to play and dislikes being put up for the night or when we go somewhere. She's very sweet and the prettiest (IMO, no offense to Zoe) of the two girls.

Another day passed here. It's been very warm today, very warm. They're calling for record heat for the weekend and that's going to be rough considering we have a Spring Fling in the next city over we are hoping to attend. (The kids are excited about the bands and car show.) (And the funnel cakes. *g*) Daughter worked this afternoon and then Son and I met up with her after she did her laps (the lifeguards are required to swim 600 yards, once a week) and they had a snack before their class while I went up for my class. I don't know what the heck the builders of the new Y were thinking when they put the aerobics room at the front of the building with a wall and a half of windows facing out on the second floor. Can you count the things wrong with that? I can. Wall of windows. While that is lots of lovely sunlight, that's lots of lovely HOT sunlight. Second floor. Seriously? Did they not know the old adage of "heat rises"? It was hot and humid in there today and while there are ceiling fans they just weren't up to the task today. I'll be honest, it was almost warm enough to make me sick and because of that I made a complaint. Because I was not the only one feeling the effects. The energy of the class was way down. But, we tried, we really did.
The kids class went well. They're gearing up for the tournament in less than two weeks now. Daughter's fan kata is coming along nicely. I do think the both are going to be disappointed this time, though. They're not practicing as much as they used to and some of their other classmates are and the other schools attending, I am sure, have been. And I don't like when my kids don't take these things as seriously as they should. But, I'm thinking of this as a life lesson.

As for reading? Did I tell y'all I finished the Amanda Quick book? Well, I did. *g* As for what to read now? I picked up three books from the library: The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts (book two of The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy), Queen Of Kings by Maria Dahvana Headly (new-to-me author), and Sue Ellen's Girl Ain't Fat, She Just Weighs Heavy by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson (new-to-me author and btw, I do NOT say the word ain't. Just saying. *g*). I'm not sure which to read first. But, I know I am blessed to have a library and a choice.

No more from me. It's, again, late. This is the only time I really get to myself and want to choose a book to begin before getting to sleep. I hope y'all had a good Tuesday. I wish a wonderful Wednesday for y'all. Goodnight and Hugs, B.
