He's cute, but weird.

Butterscotch curled up in the box yesterday, but my case for my computer fell into it and THAT'S what he was curled up on and into. It almost looks like he's hiding, doesn't it? Don't worry. I don't mind when my furbabies take naps and I didn't mind that he horded my computer case for another hour. *g*




I am reading a fabulous new book (50 Ways to Hex Your Lover by Linda Wisdom), at least I am really enjoying it so far. I'm only a third of the way through it and there are ghosties, ghoulies, vampires and witches. A full combination of otherwordly beings. But, the main character is a Witch. This is the same book the Barrista and I were discussing the other evening and she's right. The bunnies slippers are hilarious! I can't wait to continue reading to see what situations the author places the lead character.

I had to run to WW again today. I bought socks for myself yesterday and would you believe that they weren't in the bag when I went to put them up? *sigh* So, I called them last night. (I hate using the phone!) and they just said to come back in and show the receipt and they'd give me some more. Sounds too easy, doesn't it? I thought so, too. But, it was. Go figure! While there we checked to see of Daughters glasses were in, unfortunately they weren't. Daughter is SO eager to wear her new glasses she's driving me crazy. *g*

Today being a no meat day, we settled on Spaghetti without meatballs and mozzarella cheese sticks. *g* YUM! I love pizza, but twice in one week wasn't going to cut it, although Son begged. *g*

Not much else to share. I'm enjoying having wheels again, and have named my Jeep. *g* Her name is Ruby. I figured since it was red, the name should reflect that. *g* Now I'm off to finish my book and wait for Chris to get off work. For some strange reason the birds won't eat out of the bird feeder hanging on the porch, but WILL eat the cat food we set outside for the strays. Okay, have you pictured it? A bird, eating cat food. Am I the only one who finds that, well, odd? BTW, do you have any idea how many times a week I have to clean those windows because of the kitty noseprints/snot prints they leave while tracking the birds outside? *g*

Today has been particularly uneventful. The movie I requested for Son came in and we picked it up. I can't wait to see what he thinks of it. After that we ran by Target because I am looking for a pair of slip-on shoes for Son. He's driving us all batty because he won't leave his shoes on, says his feet are tickling/itching. And his current play shoes have to be tied. Which he hasn't mastered yet, not for lack of trying. Unfotunately Target didn't have anything I liked, nor approved of. Why is the style these big, thick ungainly shoes for boys right now? My Son barely weighs 45lbs., if he were to wear those he's trip and fall. After that we went to WW for cat litter and salsa. Fun selection, eh? *g* I took a quick peek at their kids shoes while there and didn't see anything either. I love my children, but they are rough on shoes and they grow alot, quickly. I can't afford to buy them expensive shoes and wouldn't if I could! (Unless they were for a specific thing, like a sport.) It would be a waste, they don't keep them long enough! So, I will be checking out Payless, Marshalls and Kohls this weekend. For now Son is begging to be allowed to wear his mud-boots everywhere. *g* He's 5, it looks cute. I don't care. *g* Now if it were summer.........Oh, wait, he's done that, too. *g* (And I have picture evidence to prove it for blackmail later!) Oh, I did end up picing up new a new set jammies for the kids, each. I LIKE the clearance racks! Is it sad that Daughters came out of the ladies department? She won't be 13 until the end of April. BUT, she's almost as tall as I am, heck she's only shorter by only HALF AN INCH! Ack! *sigh*

I would have started reading one of my library books or one of the books I bought yesterday, but Chris brought me home Naughty Neighbor by Janet Evanovich and I've started reading it. (He loves me, doesn't he? *G*) I started it last night and almost finished it, but I was too tired. And this evening I've been too busy. I hope to finish it later tonight after baths, showers and before sleep calls too loudly. *g*

Exercise: I exercised my patience today by taking my 2 talkative and constantly bickering children out in public. THAT is the only exercise I had today. Sorry. Back at it tomorrow.

Yeah, he's cute and knows it!

Fireball knows he's cute. I mean, c'mon. Look at that face. I can tell y'all that he's a sweetie as well. He doesn't like to be held longer than a minute or two, but he will let you pet him until your hand will fall off. *g*

Whew! Today has definitely been a whirlwind of activity. Since we didn't trade the van in, thinking that the Engine light and transmission would be a problem, and since I haven't driven it in over a month, the battery died. So, Chris bought a new battery yesterday and today he took the van and sold it. To Carmax. *g* Now, here's the weird part. Everything that had been wrong with the van? Yeah, wasn't appearing to be wrong anymore. Chris did tell them when he took it in to be appraised, about everything, though. We are honest people. He called me this afternoon and asked me to come pick him up and sign the title over. All done. All that stress is gone! YAY! But, jeez! All that running around almost messed my schedule up!

We were able to get schoolwork finished this afternoon and the kids attended RE this evening, for the first time in a month. They had a blast. Except for the cold weather. What the HECK is up with Mother Nature. Our weather has been like a roller-coaster lately. Today happened to be one of the lows. We arrived early enough today for the kids to play on the playground, but we were out there maybe 10 minutes before we decided we were NUTS and went and sat back in the Jeep until it was time for class. *g* While the kids were in class I went to BAMM and splurged on 2 books, a muffin, and some of the BEST Hot Chocolate I have EVER had the pleasure of drinking. (And I didn't get to finish it, either! I let the kids taste it when I had half a cup left and they drank the rest!) Oh, the books. *g* I picked up 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover by Linda Wisdom, a new-to-me author (where I am told the Bunny slipper steal the book! *G*) and Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Now, I used to read Sherrilyn Kenyon a few years ago, but had stopped because, well, I was tired of books and the writing seemed to change. This book caught my eye several weeks ago and I resisted buying it, until tonight when I opened it and read the first page. That hooked it for me. I hope I'm not disappointed.

After class, home. Where we warmed up with soup and sandwiches. *g* And now I am finishing laundry, bugging Daughter about her paper, writing this post, eyeing my books and watching/listening to a NCIS dvd. *g* I am a multi-tasker. *G*

Fireball and his toy!

Daughter is holding the new kitty toy we bought this weekend and Fireball is entranced. He wants the feathers on that toy badly! And please note the little ribbon of color that goes around his belly. It used to wrap completely around, until he had to have that life-savig surgery last year.

Today has been quiet. I barely slept last night. Chris snored and a HUGE storm rolled in early this morning and the thunder was LOUD. *sigh* I have felt like sludge today. I still made it to the pharmacy to pick up my acid relfux meds and then back home. No Y tonight. I don't want us to be around too many germs. I heard today another school in our area shut down for 2 days to CLOROX the school because of the flu.

As for what book I am reading? I picked one of the books I ordered and was delivered last week, What Looks Like Crazy by Charlotte Hughes. The first chapter is as far as I've gotten today, but I like what I've read so far. *g*

More laundry today and the kids and I did Pizza for dinner because I was too tired to cook. I want to exercise, but don't really have the energy, so we'll see. If I do, I'll update this post.

Midnight after a catnip bender!

I know I just posted a picture of Midnight yesterday, but I HAD to post this picture. Daughter took it this evening and when I saw it I could not stop laughing! Does he not look like he's just gone 10 rounds with someone? To be honest, the title is mis-leading because he was sitting like this because it's his NORMAL way of doing so. There was no catnip involved. *g*

I had a busy, busy day! There was tons of laundry to do because I wasn't able to get to it this weekend in a timely enough manner and add in ironing, cleaning, vacumming, a trip to the library, the kids schoolwork and a trip to the Y (because I have WHEELS people! *G*) and I am now tired. There was actually more but I can't rememeber I'm so tired.

I do have nice things from my trip to the library. *g* I can't remember the last time I read a Sandra Brown book, but one was mentioned on a site I like, recently, so I decided to put it on Hold. It came in today. SO, I now have Hello, Darkness by Sandra Brown and I also have the first Dresden Files book: Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I am one happy library patron. I also checked out 101 Dalmations and James and the Giant Peach. I wanted to check out The Goonies, too, but they didn't have a copy in today. I'm going to put it on Hold for Son. He'll get a kick out of it. I can't wait to start reading one of these books. Now I just have to decide to start first! *g*

This evening was my first time back at Yoga class in almost a month. I can't believe how much I missed it, even though I've been practicing at home. One thing I HAVE noticed during this past month. The kids and I haven't been sick. At all. And we didn't get the flu shot. BUT, when when the kids and I were going to the Y on a regular basis we were getting sick every other week or so. I'm not sure how to deal with this. Is it coincidence or real?

Nothing else to tell y'all about to be honest. Today has been busy, but most of it was "grunt" work. MY grunt work. I hope y'all had a more sedate day. If not, I hope that y'all were able to smile sometime during the day. A smile can change everything and is filled with possibilites. I wish a happy and energy-filled day Tuesday for y'all. Midnight is pouting in this picture. He wanted to be picked up and I was too busy. Poor baby. *g* He's a good fella if not a bit goober-y. *g* (It is a word if I say it is.)

Not much to tell y'all today. Chris has been driving MY Jeep today (it's the Cherokee, btw) and is already pricing mud tires! GAH! No, no! Don't want to get it dirty! *g* We did go to the Out-laws for dinner. (Which in the South, on a Sunday, is at 1pm.) MIL made a little of everything. Son didn't eat a thing. *sigh* I'm a bit worried, for the past week his appetite has been down (but not his energy) and for the past few days he's complained about how food smells, foods he LIKES. I'll give him another couple of days, but if no change, he's going to the Doc.

Back to the Out-laws. We had a nice time. MIL pulled out pictures, most from when Chris was little. HE WAS SOOOOOO CUTE! *g* And he hated me telling him that, too. I even got to see a picture of Chris when he was about 8 years old and he was dressed up as the Lone Ranger for Halloween! *G* MIL is going through all these pictures because SIL asked her to pick a few for their 5oth Wedding Anniversary party this year. I hope someday Chris and I have ours.

We're watching the First Season of NCIS tonight, on DVD, (a few of them, anyway) instead of the Oscars. To be honest, I'm just not interested in them (the Oscars). (Now, I DO like watching the Tony's, but those aren't until this summer.) Not to mention the only movie that I went to see last year was Nancy Drew. Something tells me it wasn't up for an Oscar. *g*

Be careful of accidental suffocation!

My cats are wonderful, hilarious, heart-warming, CRAZY and too cute. Note the pile of kitties. Fireball and Layla were enjoying a good snooze when Butterscotch began to feel left out and piled on top of both of them. Everything remained peaceful, a miracle if I've ever seen one. *g*

I am exhausted. It's a bit before 11pm and am just now able to get online again today. We headed out first thing today and bought Daughters glasses, they should be in next week. Then we started car shopping. No offense to car salesmen, but we ran across a most annoying and aggressive one today. He just didn't know when to back off. We hunted for a vehichle all over our area for hours, and this is the 3rd weekend we've done so. Luckily late afternoon we found something we liked, we asked for a fair price and now I am the owner of a Jeep! The only thing I'm not happy with? It's bright red. Gah! It has 4x4 and is a few years older than we wanted, but we also wanted to pay cash with no payments (I just hate making payments, the interest will cost you!) It's safe, has a lost of "get up and go" and I've always wanted a Jeep, so I'm happy with it. the kids love it and after we finished all the paperwork, all I wanted to do was sleep. Because this was a HUGE stress relief for me.

After finishing the paperwork we had dinner out (IHOP, Son's choice) and then on to errands. Fun. But, everything is done and we're done with groceries for the next 2 weeks and tomorrow we have dinner with the Out-Laws. FIL had surgery on his foot this week, so he's wearing an inflatable Boot. (Sound familiar Tori?)

I forgot to tell y'all that the kids have shown an interest in learning ASL this week. So, we've been learning a few signs and the kids are having a blast. Daughters favorite? I don't know you. (To her brother.) *G* Son's favorite? What. Seriously, he likes the motion to make the word What. *g*

That's all. I'm exhausted. It's been a LONG day. (Not to mention traumatic spending that much money!) *G* I hope y'all had a fun and smile filled saturday. Always a proper gentleman!

Butterscotch stole my chair when I was making dinner this evening. When I came back from the kitchen there he sat, paws crossed, looking at me like he was wondering what the heck I wanted! Note the cute little paws!

Today has been chilly and gray, but I didn't care because I was in my house, warm and comfy! *G* We haven't done much today, Son had a Spelling test, as usual, and every time I give him his test, my head starts to hurt. Because I let him study his words beforehand, but he still spells the word out-loud, guesses and then looks at me expectantly. LIKE I'<>

I also mopped the floors today. It's such a funny thing to watch, because Fireball follows me around while I'm doing it. But, if I get the mop too close to him, he freezes and then runs off. Only to peer at me from around the closest corner. *g* And it freaks the cats out when I pull up their litter boxes and food and water bowls. You'd think they are wondering if I'm going to starve them or something!

Chris called the auto repair guys we use for our repairs and got a loose estimate on how much it will cost to fix the van. Ready? Anywhere between $2000-$4000. I almost fell in the floor. We've been going back nad forth on whether to repair the van, or search for another vehicle. My van isn't worth the high end of that estimate, so we are definitely looking for another vehicle for me. Wish us luck!

I finished Rogue Angel:Destiny by Alex Archer last night before bed. Most of my questions were answered, except the main one. Is Annja supposed to be a re-incarnated Joan of Arc, or just another special woman who was chosen by the sword? I haven't started another book yet. I have a few to choose from, but last night I had read SO much that when I completed the book my head pounded! So, I've taken it easy with reading today. *g* I'll get back to it soon. I can't NOT read for long. I get antsy. No, really. I walk from room to room looking for something to to. I eat more. (Weird, eh?) And I even have trouble concentrating on tv when I try to watch it. Me without a book is like Pooh-Bear without honey. *g* I hope y'all are reading something good right now!

Yoga: 45 minutes of Yoga.

Patches tries to shy away from attention!

Patches is a very sweet girl who loves to be scratched under the chin, but who also will nip at you if you make her too happy! *g* She carries a blue ribbon around the upstairs when she's alone, crying (meowing) plaintively. It sounds so sad. We all tell her what a good girl she is and that we are proud of her. *g* After that, she drops the ribbon and heads for where-ever.

Today has been quiet, cold and drizzly. All the making for a good day to stay inside and read. *g* I've enjoyed the day, except that my kids have made a HUGE mess of my house because they weren't able to go out and burn off energy. *sigh* Of course they were also made to clean up the entire mess!

I finished Strangers in Death by J.D. Robb LATE last night. I just wanted to finish it. I enjoy Eve's single-minded-determidness to solve her cases. In this "episode" a small bit of Hitchcock seems to have invaded the story-line. I also liked the interactions between Roarke and Eve, they provided more depth to their feelings, although there were plenty of passionate scenes as well. *g*

Now I am reading Rogue Angel: Destiny by Alex Archer. The first book in the series introduces the reader to Annja Creed, an Archeologist and Explorer (and Monster Hunter), along with aspects relating to Joan of Arc and those who feared, hated and adored her. I'm halfway through it and wishing that the story had more of a resolution at this point for THIS book, #1 in the series. There has been plenty of action, but not enough explaining of the characters introduced, nor clues to where the series may lead. Then again, I AM only a little more than half-way through. *g* I am also enjoying it. This book introduces a heroine who isn't a wimp, she kicks major butt! *G* And yes, I know I had 2 books delivered yesterday I could have started, but I like to read my library books first, after all, I have to give them back in a set period of time. *g*

I forgot to tell y'all I made banana bread yesterday afternoon and it came out great. It's a basic recipe, but I add, an extra banana, cinnamon, pecans and brown sugar to the recipe and then sprinkle just a small bit of brown sugar on top which makes the crust crisper. YUMMMMM! *g* Too bad Daughter gave up bananas for lent. *G* Oh, well. More for me for the week.

I don't know what it is about Lego's, but they not only are fun for kids, but the cats like them, too. Here Layla is lying on the manuals that I make the kids keep. Hey, you would too if you knew how difficult it was to put some of these things together!

Guess what? Go on, guess! I have books! SQUEEEEEEE! Before Chris went to work this afternoon he ran by the library for me and picked up: Strangers in Death by J.D. Robb, Rogue Angel: Destiny by Alex Archer (new-to-me author, the premise is promising), and The Vampire Files: Bloodlist by P.N. Elrod (this is a Jack Fleming novel and will be the first full length novel I've read involving him, usually I've just read the short stories in a few books). Also in among those was The Spiderwick Chronicals: The Seeing Stone by Holly Black and Tom ? (Can't remember and it isn't right in front of me.), AND we have 2 movies for the kids as well; Addams Family Values and Indiana Jones: The Lost Ark. Son wanted both. AND at a quarter of 7pm this evening the books I ordered arrived. So, I now have No Good Girls by Jean Marie Pierson (new-to-me author, and a new author) and What Looks Like Crazy by Charlotte Hughes. I've read almost every book Charlotte Hughes has published, so her having a new book out is a treat. And her name may sound familiar, she co-wrote several books with Janet Evanovich in the Full House series. Can y'all just imagine me dancing around my living room with all these? No? Yeah, me neither, that would involve bumping into walls. I am such a klutz! *g*

I've started Strangers in Death this evening. It's quite interesting so far. I can't wait to see how the story evolves. *g* I've also taken the evening "off" so to speak. In other words, no major housework. I'll probably still exercise later, though. I HAVE noticed a change this week, attributed toward the new meds I believe. Usually I'll work out for day and then the next day I'll be very tired. BUT, this week I have exercised and then the next day I'm okay. I LOVE IT. I feel like I'm back to where I was last summer. It's so nice to feel normal for a change. I can't wait to tell the Doc.

Today has felt busy, but wasn't. Thank goodness, another day like yesterday and I would have had to lie down. *g* Let me just say, letting your shredding pile up is a BAD thing and then doing it all in one fell swoop? Yeah, makes your back hurt from leaning over the machine. Which clogged 2x. *sigh* Thank goodness for butter knives. (No, really.) And gee, it only took 2 hours. There was also the regular stuff to do today as well. I won't bore you with the details. This time. *g*

I am SO excited! I just checked and the library has a Hold in for me. Strangers in Death by J.D. Robb is at my library waiting for me to curl my hands around it! Also, Son and I finished The Spiderwick Chronicles, book one: The Field Guide last night and I just placed #2 on hold for him, today, and it's IN! He's so excited! AND! AND the books I ordered will arrive tomorrow! YAY! When I start to get low in books I get a bit antsy, so it's nice that I will have books around. *g*

As part of his schoolwork yesterday, Son had to write a joke down. He couldn't think of one, so I told him one of the very few I could remember: What's Black and White and Red all over? A Newspaper! *G* So then he and Daughter look up jokes on the joke book they have and I get told this one: What goes HAHAHAHA plop? Laughing your head off! (I kinda like this one!) Then Daughter comes up with one she made up all on her own: What kind of car does Yoda like? A Toy-yoda! *g* (Can you tell they are Star Wars Fans?) Which then prompted Son to try and make up his own jokes. I don't know if you've ever heard a 5 year old try to make up jokes. But, to spare y'all, they are not funny. I can't wait until he's a bit older and can make up his own jokes that are funny. Kindly, he thinks his ARE funny and who am I to argue (much)? And never, EVER tell a 5 year old the Knock, Knock-Who's There? Banana joke. It will NEVER END. *g*

Not much else to tell y'all about, as usual. This weekend should be a font of too much information. We were "invited" to dinner at the Out-laws on Sunday.

Whoa! Today has been packed full of things to do. I am glad that we're back to our normal day, but jeesh! I have done 3 loads of laundry, ironed until I wanted to sit down (pshew!), remade my bed (DUDE! A king size bed is not easy to make when you're not king-sized. *g*), made dinner, and the biggie? Two hours of figuring out WHY I couldn't get online earlier today. I wanted to pound the computer and router to bits, or maybe it was the modem? *G* All I know is, it took almost 2 hours to get online and I'm still not sure what I did to fix whatever was wrong, because I'm not sure what was wrong to begin with. (Hi! Techno-goober, remember?) And Chris was at work, so no help from there, really. BUT, all fixed! Thank God, because me without the internet is not a pretty sight. *g* And all that is on top of getting the kids educated for the day, yes, you heard that right. I know it was President's Day, but they didn't get the day off.

Oooh, I started reading a new book this evening (yeah, about 10 minutes ago) and can now do the meme that Marianne tagged me with. *g*

Okay, as for the book, My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon a collection of new short stories edited by P.N.Elrod.

I'm doing better this week with the new meds. I had heard that caffeine can affect the meds, so I now wait to have that first cup of Diet Dr. Pepper in the morning for an hour after I take my pill. And it seems to be helping. (For which I am very thankful.) It's funny, too. Because I asked the Doc about the caffeine thing the last time I was there and she said she hadn't heard of any interactions, but I have read a few comments from different places and they ALL stated that caffeine is something to watch when you first take your pill. SO, when I go back to the Doc I will be informing her of this odd thing, whether she believes me or not is her choice.

"Mom, I didn't do it!"

Seriously! Doesn't he look like he can't believe that mess? Or that maybe he knocked the Lego container over? Well, he didn't. Son made that mess all by himself. *g*

Good grief today was gloomy outside! So gray and chilly! Don't get me wrong, I love rain, but hour upon hour of gray with no rain in sight was gloomy and my normal ability to tell time (without a watch) was affected. I kept thinking it was an hour ahead of when it really was. *g*

And gee! What a wonderful time to go car browsing! No, not kidding. We really did go looking at different cars today. Or tried to, anyway. Many of the cars we had found on-line were not on the car lots. Leaving me to think that these dealerships need to keep up with their listings in a more timely manner. *sigh* And no, we didn't find anything. We have a choice. We can fix the van, again (and then have something else go wrong later), or find something else that will fit into our budget. We're still rocking back and forth with this decision.

I haven't been able to read this weekend, much anyway. *g* As a matter of fact, not at all today. Hopefully tomorrow, when our schedule is back on course again, I will be able to dive back into a book. I was tagged with a Meme from Marianne, but refused to do it with the book I was reading yesterday. It was Bad Girls Bridesmaids by Susanna Carr, which I was UNAWARE was an erotic book. Wheew! I was not ready for that! If you haven't figured it out, I'm not a prude, but I am pretty, um, conservative. *g* So, as soon as I start a new book, I'll be happy to do the meme.

Let's see......, nothing much else to tell y'all about. Sorry. Unless you want to know that we had vegetarian corn dogs for dinner? Yummy! (I refuse to eat "real" hot dogs or corn dogs.) And I like when we can have a meatless night. Unlike Chris, I don't live and breathe meat! *G*

Layla is waiting outside my closet door in this picture, to be let in so that she can eat. She wasn't thrilled with Son when he took this picture, either. Can't you just sense the "give me my food" attitude? *G*

Today was busy! We had a neighborhood watch meeting this afternoon, then a stop by the library, Mass and went to look at a few cars. After that we ran by WW (I was out of Salsa) where Son and Daughter spent the $10 each they were given by the Out-Laws for Valentine's Day. Daughter bought a box of girl scout cookies, a hoola-hoop and a pair of sunglasses. Son ended up with a new watch and a hula-hoop as well. Do y'all want to know how many times he's told me what time it is? *G* He's SOOOOOOO funny!

After all that I was tired, so we headed home for dinner and very shortly bed. I didn't get a chance to look around the library today, so we may go back tomorrow. And I did get a small window of time to read today, so I started Bad Girl Bridesmaids by Susanna Carr. It's well written but VERY SPICY! I'll just say I was glad to be drinking an iced drink while reading! *G* I've ordered 2 books from BAMM and I hope they arrive this week. I ordered What Looks Like Crazy by Charlotte Hughes and No Good Girls by Jean Marie Pierson. I believe it's the latters first book, btw. The preview on the Dorchester site snagged me on it.

Fireball is caught unaware!

Poor Fireball. I sent Son out on a quest yesterday evening. I asked him to capture the cats in a few photos. It's very sad that I had to tell him to make sure he got their FACES. *g* One good thing about Son taking the photos? He gets down on the cats level very easily! *g*

Today has been nice. We're back into our routine and I enjoyed the day. I threw the kids outside, actually they begged, and had a blast curled up with a good book while doing laundry. I also squeezed in a bit on the treadmill!

As for reading, I finished Another One Bites the Dust by Jennifer Rardin. I like the authors 'voice' and that of the heroines. There was no verbage that sounded out of place and even though it was the second book in the series, it was easily read without feeling out of the loop. Various references were made to the first book, but they were also explained so that the reader didn't feel left out. One warning though, there was a bit of gore, but it was expected. After finishing that book, I re-read While Lies by Jayne Ann Krentz. I found that I enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first. And now I'm wondering what I'll read next. I doubt I'll get time this weekend, but it's still necessary to have a choice picked out, you know? *g*

Tomorrow we have a neighborhood watch meeting, the library and Mass. Not alot on one day for a change. I'm hoping to be able to get a few household things done, by Chris. We'll see how it goes. Athena is a girl unto her own!

There is no other cat like Athena. I don't mean her looks, but the way she acts and the things she does. She's sweet, but shy. Vocal, yet quiet. She prefers to be upstairs when we are down, and sleeps either in Daughters room, or in my hallway at night. And she will shove a cat 2x her size out of the way when she wants to eat. *g*

Today was an okay day. The kids liked their cards and candy and the Out-laws stopped over for a visit. We had a nice time and they brought the kids even more candy and a few little things like Spider-man tattoos for Son and a notepad for Daughter. Both enjoyed them. *g* Son is now sporting 3 fake tats and Daughter has been writing little notes all day. *g*

I won't say much else about it being Valentine's Day, other than Chris outdid himself in the SUCK department this year. As in he sucked. *sigh* I have no idea what happened to the romantic man I dated and even the romantic man I first married, but he is gone and has been replaced. 'Nuff said. And yes, I realize there could be worse things. I don't need to be told that this day is made-up, or that it's actions made all year that make the relationship. BUT, it is nice to be TOLD once a year that you are appreciated and seen as more than a mother and wife, but also as the person that they fell in love with in the first place.

I finished the Dancing with Werewolves book by Carole Nelson Douglas. It was a good read and I can't wait to see where the author takes these characters. I've started Another One Bites the Dust by Jennifer Rardin. Granted it's the second book in the series and I haven't been able to read the first yet, but I like the "voice" the main character has. We'll see how much I like it the further into the book I make it. Of course I also have a copy of White Lies by Jayne Ann Krentz that I requested from the library to re-read and I really want to re-read it after reading Sizzle and Burn not too long ago. *g*

I made my favorite dinner tonight, Chicken Paprika with noodles. YUM! Chris asked me how I cooked better than him. I told him talent. (I was teasing him. I'm mad at him, not dead.) *g* In truth, it's hard to screw up a dish you've been cooking for almost 20 years. *g*

An oldie but sweetie!

This picture is from last year at this time. I love how the boys all feel like they are snuggle-bunnies. *g* Midnight and Butterscotch are in this picture and it looks like their heads are holding each other up!

Today has been bad. I don't know if it's the time of month, or the thyroid and meds, or what. But, I have felt depressed today and I don't like it. Normally I don't mind taking care of house and home and I don't even lose my temper when dealing with Daughter (And that takes alot of patience!). But, today I have felt depressed and sad and lonely. I don't know whether to call the Doc and beg to be put back on the lower dosage, or wait this out and try to deal with the mood changes. The best thing I knew to up my mood? I got on the treadmill and ran until I couldn't breathe. It's kinda hard to run and cry at the same time. I'm sorry to vent to y'all. I just needed to get it out.

In the good news category I am reading again. To me this is a relief. I've been reading Dancing with Werewolves, Delilah Street: Paranormal Investigator by Carole Nelson Douglas. I wasn't sure I would like this book, as I am not a fan of Urban fantasy. But, I like the heroine and the Dog, Quicksilver, is so far the coolest dog, EVER.

Anyway, I am sorry to whine at y'all. I truly am. I hope that y'all had a good wednesday, that you were happy. I wish a delightful and enjoyable day for your thursday. And I hope y'all don't mind when I tell you: Happy Valentine's Day!

Midnight!

I may call this cat a goober and sometimes he can be a bully towards the other cats. But, he is the sweetest cat I have ever had. In this picture he is looking out the window, probably at a bird.

Today has been cool and overcast. I had to take a benedryl last night and did NOT want to get up! *G* The kids are driving me batty, but that's normal. I am not able to shop for the kids Valentines this year, so I'm sending Chris. He's not very good at this type of thing, so cross your fingers. I think it'll help that I am sending him for specific things. *g*

My vacumm cleaner is still off limits because I need a new Hepa-filter, FIL fixed the hose where it had somehow been smooshed. (I have NO idea how he did it because I spent over an hour trying to fix it not too long ago.) In the meantime, I am still using theirs (they have hardwood floors) and may I say that theirs kicks our vacumm cleaners butt, and it's over 10 years old? The only thing I don't like is the smell. Um, you know, like Moth balls. Think about how your granparents house smelled when you were young. Uh-huh, like that. Thank goodness for febreeze! And no, don't think for one second that I am not appreciative, because I am. I am also very sensitive to smells.

Um, what else? Not much to be honest. As for the brownies, it was a mix. Sorry to disappoint. Although, I made it with applesauce and since it was for milk chocolate brownies, I added some dark chocolate pieces to help cut some of the sweetness. They came out yummy!

Still haven't read. I don't know what the block is. I'm hoping that this is temporary.

I've been on the higher dosed thyroid meds for a week now. I know this will sound weird, but I actually feel worse. I hope it just takes time for my body to become used to the higher dose. If not, I may have the Doc put me back on the lower dose.

My favorite kitty, Layla, has been getting sick on a regular basis lately, so we switched her food to that of a sensitive stomach formula, something she has shown to have when she was little. We thought she'd outgrown it. The other cats think the new food is the best thing ever and keep trying to steal it. We have to put her food in our closet and let her in and out. BUT, we think she's still eating the other regular kitty food and we're trying to figure out a solution without making the other cats suffer. *sigh*

Fireball finds my chair comfortable!

Fireball is OUT like a light in my chair. His brother came and went, snuggling up to him and then getting down, but he still slept on. I want to know one thing? HOW do cats sleep so well? *g*

Today has been a whirlwind of activity. At least, that's what it felt like. *g* I filed for over an hour this afternoon, handled the kids schoolwork, did laundry and ironed. Well, I tried to iron, turns out the reason my iron is wonky is because of the cord. I figured out how to fix it with some electrical tape and was able to get it all done. Gah! I also snuck in a Yoga session and also made brownies for the kids. *g*
Chris also called this evening because he was stressed out and needed an ear to listen for a bit. I didn't have the heart to tell him I was a bit stressed too. That's what I'm here for, to help my partner in life and love when he needs me. He just called again, he's on his way home and in a much better frame of mind. And me? Making the brownies helped me de-stress as weird as that may sound.
Ah, there is a new review over at my Wordpress blog, for Ghost of a Chance by Kate Marsh. It was a truly fun book to read.

Layla found a bigger BOX!

Please excuse the blurriness of this picture, and if I've posted this before. I took this with my cell phone a month or 2 ago and have recently re-dis-covered it. This is the blanket chest in our bedroom, the one I re-finished and antiqued. We actually DO keep blankets in it and Layla jumped in because, well, she's a cat! *g* I think she's cute. *G*

Today was nice. I won't say it was quiet, because thanks to the wind we had today, it was anything but! The howling was a bit unnerving at times, but it was still nice out. So much so, that I kicked the kids outside. I remember being a kid and most of my time was spent outside with a book, or playing with friends. My kids? Were in front of the computer. I made them get off and go outside instead. And I think too many parents today, don't do that. They had a blast! As soon as they went out, their friends across the street went out as well and they played for hours. Of course, now I need to throw them in the tub, but hey, I'm happy. *g*

When it got dark and the kids came in we headed out to Lowe's. We had forgotten we needed to pick up a new washer/leak guard thing! Um, but they didn't have what we were looking for. So we headed ACROSS THE ROAD to Home Depot. *g* They had one, but we're going to have to put the drain in it. *sigh* Why are things never easy? Oh, well. After that we ran by the other WW near us and picked up the things we couldn't get last night. AND I even made sure we bought the dog that lives behind us a nice bone. I feel so bad for her. He owner doesn't seem to care that her house is not a good shelter since it's falling apart and her owner keeps her in a small pen, and she's a black lab mix. (And soooooo sweet.) I can't do much for her, so I do what I can.

Oh, after we arrived back home Chris made dinner. I love it when I don't have to cook! *g* I still haven't gotten a chance to read anything in the past couple of days and am starting to feel some withdrawl *g*. I'm hoping to be able to grab a book tonight and read a bit. But, as with all our weekends I doubt I'll get the chance.

Butterscotch has sweet dreams!

Butterscotch is the sweetest cat. He is a bit jittery, but loves to be petted and will rub all over the kids heads for attention. *g* He's even head-butted Son for some petting! Sorry about the quality of the picture, but I only had my cell-phone handy! Here, he's in the box, and must be having sweet dreams. *g*

Today was anything but quiet. It seems like we've been going since noon. The Out-laws came over and brought their truck so that they could help take off some of the extra soil we've had for over a year (in a very heavy container) and the slide that broke from the swing-set and our Christmas tree (which has been out of the house since the day after Christmas but that has been sitting outside since then) . Chris and Son went with FIL to take all that stuff to the dump and MIL stayed here with Daughter and I. (And the Out-laws were going to the dump anyway and offered to take off that stuff for us.) After they arrived back, the Out-laws left, we made up a grocery list and headed to Mass, stopping by the bank first for money. (I ran out of checks a year ago and haven't replaced them). Then on to Mass we would have arrived early if anyone would have bothered to listen. to. me. Gah. Then on to BAMM to use my last giftcard to renew my club/discount card. Which wouldn't have been bad, if they had had a book or two I was looking forward to. *g* BUT, they did give me a free canvas bag for renewing my card. *g* And I like it! It'll make a great bag to take to the library! After that we headed to Lowes for a new shower-head, ours broke. *sigh* AFTER that we headed to WW where there were long lines and LOTS of people. They were out of alot of the things we needed, so unfortunately there will be another trip to another store later on. THEN it was on to Blooms for soft-drinks that were on sale. *g* (I love a good deal.)

Now we are home, and are tired. No reading today because of everything else, but I hope to take time tomorrow. We had thought about going hiking, but the mountains will be 20 degrees cooler there than it will be here tomorrow and I don't have a hat. No, really, I don't. I do have a baseball hat, but that's not going to help my ears and I'm not willing to freeze off my ears for a few hours of fun. *g* We're hoping next weekend will be a bit warmer.

And that's all for today. It's been enough, in my opinion. And I still have to fold laundry. *sigh* I am actually looking forward to staying home tomorrow. I hope that y'alls saturday was fun and relaxing and I wish a lovely and peaceful sunday for y'all.

The Cookie Bandit Strikes!

I don't post many pictures of my children, for their safety. But, somehow, I thought that this one would be safe and as an extra measure I will delete the picture off the post tomorrow. Here is Son, playing bandit. And the bags he's holding? He said he didn't want money, he wanted cookies! *G*

Today had been kinda down for me. No idea why. I guess it't the trouble sleeping and the back pain. But, it did grant me the time to read today.

I have all those library books and do you know what I ended up reading? One of the books I bought a couple of weeks ago! Ghost of a Chance by Kate Marsh (aka Katie MacAlister), the writers first venture into Mystery and I must say, I loved it. I truly did. The world within still contains the Paranormal world that Katie Mac is famous for. Her humor and discriptive world building are also evident. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for another in what I hope is a series. Do yourself a favor and try it (the imps will make you laugh), this is one going on my keeper shelf.

Since it's now the season of Lent, today was meatless for us. So we had our old standby. Cheese Pizza. I only mention this because BOTH my children ate more than I did. I don't mean together. I mean that Daughter had 5 pieces of pizza and Son had 4 pieces of pizza. Now, granted, this was from the medium size, BUT STILL! Hello! Daughter is only 12yrs. old and Son is only 5yrs. old. GAH! I'm still in shock.

The world looks different upside down!

Is there anything cuter than an upside down kitty? Do you ever wonder if they see something we don't? Layla seems to like it just fine this way. *g* For a little while anyway.

Today wasn't as quiet as usual! the dryer repair guys came and basically fixed everything they could without replacing the dryer. They were polite and helpful. AND the Out-Laws came by for a visit. While the repair guys were here. Fun trying to keep up with everything while it was all going on at the same time. But, we had a nice visit with the Out-laws and they even took us out to the grocery store after the repair was finished. Doesn't sound like much, but it was the first time I had been out of the house since saturday. *g* And of course they treated the kids.

Oh, before the repair dudes and the Out-laws showed up, I ran around picking up the house and decided to go ahead and polish the furniture while I was at it, it was time anyway. AND since my vacumm cleaner is dead I swept the carpets with a broom. Both floors and the stairs. Can you say blister? Because I now have one on my thumb. Fun! But it worked. Of course then my Out-Laws brought over a vacumm for me to borrow. But, hey, the floors looked good when they came over. *g*

I will tell y'all that I did not sleep well last night. I woke up with every little sound and since Chris was snoring, that was alot of waking up. *sigh* I hope tonight is better. And my back is still hurting. I. Am. Getting. Old. Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that I worked out instead of resting yesterday. *g* I don't do resting very well. *g*

Isn't this cute? Three of my fur-babies decided to take a nap and hey, if there's a foot in a face who cares, right? They don't seem to mind. Fireball, Butterscotch and Midnight are all sweet fellows, if not slightly crazy!

As for today, we had some rain and clouds, but no Tornados, for which I am grateful. And rather than be cool outside, considering it's winter and all, it was humid and 64. Hi, Mother Nature? Um, you do know it's still winter, right? *g*

Guess what I have? More books! YAY! I now have My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon (a collection of short stories edited by P.N. Elrod) and Another One Bites the Dust (a Jaz Parks book) by Jennifer Rardin. Now the Jaz Parks book is actually the 2nd in the series but my library in its infinite stupidity does not have the first book, only the 2nd and 3rd. WTheck? You would think they would do things in order. But, no. *sigh* I did finish the Kerrelyn Sparks book last night and while it was a good book and well written, I feel it's not a good stand-alone book for someone who has not read the others in the series. Also, the blurb is a bit misleading, in that you think it will be a light-hearted book (like those written by Lynsay Sands), but it was darker than I expected. That said, SPOILER, I really enjoyed it when Jean-Luc made her Ex believe he was a Cockroach. *G*

What else........? Oh, the book I put on Hold for Son came in today as well. He's really excited and ready to start "reading" The Spiderwick Chronicles: The Field Guide by Tom DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. He's already looked through the book and looked at all the drawings.

We're still waiting to hear from the repair guy on when he'll be back out with the part to fix the washer. I know he said 7-10 business days, but I am anxious to have it fixed and have it over and done with! That said, Chris and I are not quite so eager to have to pack up all the books on the shelves on the landing and take the bookshelves down so that the washer can be moved downstairs to the garage! *g*

Okay, I get that covers are recycled and that photoshop seems to be used quite often. The Spare Wife is the book that caught my eye (when browsing Amazon for new releases), and I thought that I had seen it somewhere before. Guess what? I had. *g* Now, notice anything strange about the cover for The Spare Wife? LIKE THERE'S ONLY ONE LEG? WTHeck? Did the publisher think no one would notice?

Sorry Big Publisher, but I'm a bit smarter than that!

Help me I'm falling.......asleep....zzzzzzzzz!

I am not kidding. Layla is ASLEEP in this picture. *g* Cats amaze me, truly, in their ability to curve their furry bodies into all these weird poses and then feel relaxed enough to fall asleep. *g* And her paws look bigger in this photo than they really are, she's picking her fur again. As you can also tell by the VERY pink belly. She's still her Mama's baby. *g*

I had no choice but to take it easy today. I managed to pull something in my back. It'll be okay after a few days of ibuprofen and a heating pad. I tend to do this about once a year for some reason. It started yesterday when I woke up I felt a twinge and then after Yoga it became much worse. But, like I said, after a couple of days I should feel better. I DID start my new meds today. I wonder how long before I notice a change with this one? Eh, I guess I'll wait and see.

Since I had to rest today (there is nothing more infuriating than having to rest when you want to be busy or being busy when you want to rest!) I have been able to read. I started The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks. I'm about a third of the way through (What? I still have to do things like laundry and feed and care for the kids! *G*) and am liking it so far. The heroine KNOWS what Jean-Luc is, but keeps shying away from the answer.

AND I have 3 books in at the library. Two of which are mine. I placed the first Spiderwick book on hold for Son because he was given a small booklet in his favorite cereal last week and I read it to him and he really enjoyed it. I enjoy it when one of my kids is interested in a book or series of books. *g* He can't really read on that level yet, but it will be something that I can read to him that he will enjoy. Hopefully actions like this will encourage him develope a love of reading when he's older. I've already converted Daughter to a bibliophile, it's time Son discovered that joy.

Do you remember when you discovered the wonder inside books? How old were you when you started to read in ernest? As far back as I can remember, I've always had a book in my hand. And my Mom encouraged me from the start. How many 4th graders do you know that read Gone With The Wind? *g* Do you have a particular genre that you like the most? I keep coming back to romance. I love mysteries and am re-discovering my love of Sci-Fi/Fantasy after years of not reading those, but romance draws me more than any other.

This cat is strange. I think I've explained this in detail before. *g* In this picture Chris leaned down to talk to me and Midnight took it as an invitation to CLIMB ONTO HIS BACK and lick his head! *G* Yeah, I have normal cats. NOT. *g*

Today started out gloomy and to me, almost musical. I love the sound of the rain and that was what we woke up to today. It ended this afternoon, but our area needs the rain (we are STILL in drought conditions, although not as bad as it was, it's still bad), so you won't find anyone around here complaining. *g*

Chris picked up my new thyroid meds for me today. I start them tomorrow. I'm posting this because I want a record I can look back on and see if there is a noticeable change. They sure do make these things colorful! My last med was lavender and these are "olive" but look more like an apple green to me.

I've been busy today. I've managed to get a Yoga session in this afternoon, do 3 loads of laundry, ironing, vacumming, schoolwork with the kids, emptying the dishwasher (because I seem to be the only one who knows where the dishes are!) and feeding everyone. *g* Nowhere in there was a chance to read. As a matter of fact, ironing took longer than usual because my stupid iron was acting up. That makes my van, my vacumm cleaner and now my iron. *sigh*

Seriously, he's looking at a bird outside. Now, for the funny information part of that. The bird? yeah, he's not going after the bird feeder I have FULL and hanging off my front porch. He's after the cat food I set outside for the stray kitties. I have a weird, weird set of animals around here. *G*

Today has been so lovely. The sun was shining and it reached 64 degrees. I made my kids go outside and play. As a matter of fact, I also let them take Midnight outside again, as well. He had a blast. *g* The kids stayed outside until dark. Ahhh, the peace and quiet that was inside. It was nice. Really, really, really nice. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but they generate noise like you wouldn't believe. Then there is Daughter's attitude lately, that her Dad and I are stupid and that she is Superior and well, it was nice to have some quiet. *g* And Chris, well, he actually sprayed for bugs around the outside of the house! YAY! He did a chore! Wheeeeee! *G* he also made dinner tonight. Yum. *g*

I started a new book today. I decided to try a new-to-me author, Angela Hunt, the book is Doesn't She Look Natural? I haven't had much time to read, I've only managed to read one chapter, but so far I like the authors voice. I also forgot to mention that I picked up a book at WW last night. I have heard good things about it. It's The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks. I haven't read anything else by this author, so I don't know if I'll like it, but I'll let you know!

One cat, free shipping!

Actually, y'all know I won't do that, but the title just popped into my head and I had to post it! I keep telling y'all how much these cats love this box. ONE, Midnight, had started to try and eat it, but other than that the others are content to sleep inside it. Oreo is the latest happy camper. Note how small she is. Trust me when I say that a BIG attitude comes in that small package. *G*

Today was BUSY. It's now a bit after 10pm and my feet are hurting and I am TIRED. We didn't even make it to Mass today, but we're going in the morning. We did go by the library today where I picked up: Dancing With Werewolves (A Delilah Street:Paranormal Investigator) book by Carole Nelson Douglas (who is known for her mysteries, I believe this is her first Paranormal.), Ain't Myth-Behaving by Katie MacAlister, Doesn't She Look Natural? by Angela Hunt and a Catfancy Magazine (February's issue). AND Son got his first Library card! He was so excited! He even checked out 3 books on his new card. *g*

After the library we went by and looked at glasses for Daughter. I knew that her face at 12 would be too big for the kids glasses and it turns out I was right. So, we looked at what seemed like EVERY SINGLE PAIR of Ladies frames they had. We told her price was not a problem and to just pick out a pair that she liked. We narrowed it down to 3 and finally to one pair and in a week or two we'll have them for her. And believe it or not, she didn't pick the most expensive frame she looked at. Go figure. *shrugs*

After THAT loooooong time, *g*, we headed to Marshall's to find her a new pair of jeans because the child WILL NOT STOP GROWING, or putting holes in the knees of her jeans. We ended up spending a long time there as well. *sigh* This child takes forever to make up her mind and then try on clothes. We finally settled on one pair of jeans and another pair of camo pants, they were cute, for Daughter. I saw a lovely pair of shoes but didn't buy. (I was being good.)

We then walked down to Linens & Things to look at vacumm cleaners, but I didn't see one that met my requirments. (You know, NOT crazily expensive and WITH a bag. I've had bagless and HATE IT.) Then we walked further down to World Market. I really like that place. *g* We didn't buy anything, but it was nice to look around.

After that we went by Whole Foods for some groceries and then WW for some MORE groceries.

NOW do you see why I am so dang tired? *g*

Fireball is too curious for his own good!

Fireball has already used up one of his nine lives, you'd think he's be a more cautious cat. But, he's not. In this picture, he's in the computer armoire-turned-tv/kitchen armoire. *g* He just can't help wondering if he can fit in these weird places. Luckily he didn't get stuck. *g*

Today has been cool, but nice. It rained all night last night and early this morning. And I don't know about y'all, but I ALWAYS sleep better when it rains.

Midnight went out for another walk on the leash today and has even kept his collar on tonight, though he doesn't normally like collars. I don't make all the cats wear one, besides they never go outside (usually) and don't need one. And don't worry. I keep all their tags and vaccine records filed. *g*

Last night after Chris arrived home I held the new Jayne Ann Krentz, Sizzle and Burn,in my hands and wanted to start reading it badly. BUT, I knew one of two things would happen. I would stay up ALL NIGHT reading it, or given that I was so tired, I would fall asleep reading it. And that would have been a sad thing to do to a new book. *g* So, I waited until today. I just finished it and if you're a JAK fan, you'll enjoy it. I won't say anymore, just that I was very pleased and can not wait until Fallon Jones gets his own book. That man deserves to meet his match! *G*

Ever send someone to the store for you and have them mess up EVERYTHING? Well, not everything, but most of the list I gave him. Chris did yesterday, but I forgive him. *g* He's entitled. He's been pretty good about picking all my books up from the library lately. *g*
